NAME: Cora Marie Kingsley AGE: Twenty-Two ( February 04) GENDER: Female. TYPE: Trainer.
APPEARANCE: From head to toe, Cora screams “hot mess”. From her head grows an ash-brown mane which is a horror in itself to control. When it is not done up with a clip, her thick hair will cascade down to her lower back. Her hair has a slight park on the side, and she has layers to frame her awkward face. Her skin is ghostly-pale, and she desperately needs a tan. Her eyes are the focus of her face, but only because they are abnormally large in proportion to the rest of her body. They are big, blue, and haunting. Being the kind of person that likes to play up their abnormalities, she only applies eyeliner and mascara, making her eyes seem bigger. Her nose is petite, and has a slight upward point making her look sort of piggish if one looks at her too closely. Her lips are pale and slight, and her voice is just as soft sounding. Prominent collarbones drape across her chest, just above her curvy bosom. She is thin, but has a larger build than most. Luckily, her waist cinches at a narrow point making her chest and hips look bigger than they really are. Her arms are mostly lean, and her hands are soft and feminine. On the lower end of her body has its fair of jiggle, but Cora is not fat. She has average sized feet to match her less-than-average structure.
ATTIRE: Although her hair is barely manageable, her wardrobe choices are feminine and simplistic. She does not fret about clothing too much, but still enjoys being the girl she is. Each season, she always has a new style. In the springtime, she wears strapless dresses with different styles of leggings. In the summer, she will wear cute blouses and denim skirts. In the fall she will sport a black pleather jacket, a long tank top and tights. In the wintertime, she wears sweater-dresses and thick leggings. Cora does not really care for jewelry, but she will always prefer pearls over diamonds. Whatever she wears, she always wears her signature blue boots
PERSONA: {affectionate) – Even though Cora is a huge smartass, she is very loyal and compassionate towards her closest friends and family. She knows exactly what to say to make someone feel special. Beneath her composed exterior lies someone wanting to love and wanting to be loved. This wall she puts up is just a defense mechanism. She would rather be known for her brains rather than her heart.
{eloquent} – Cora has a gift of staying calm and composed, and using her words instead of fists to handle herself. Everything she says, she truly means and she tries to be as sweet as possible – or at least make herself sound innocent enough. However, it seems like she is always having an inside joke with herself. She never seems stressed or worried, and if she is, than something is obviously wrong.
{intelligent} – Knowing her shit is what Cora does best. She does her research before she acts out, and if she is in a situation in which she cannot control, she is witty enough to get herself through it. As a child, she was very studious and spent a lot of times with her head in dusty, leather-bound books rather than her nose in the air, partying with the rest of her friends.
{mysterious} – Cora knows what to share and what not to share. She does not talk about herself, and finds ways to change the subject. However, she does not lie. Cora finds enjoyment in creating loopholes and confusing others into dropping the subject. Because of her temporary amnesia(which will be explained later), she cannot tell anyone who she is or where she is from, or how to ever go back.
{observant} –Someone who does not concern themselves with sharing themselves, like Cora, she spends a great deal of time watching others and picking up certain character traits. She is a very perceptive person. Whenever Cora is observing others behave, she is silent and unmoving, and is one of the dead giveaways that Cora is analyzing. Sometimes, but not often, she will jump to unlikely conclusions.
{witty} – Cora has a clever way of using words in quirky and clever ways. Her talent is writing, and she enjoys using her wit as a way to humor herself and others. Using her wit, she likes to persuade others and does a good job of planting seeds of thought in other people’s heads.
HISTORY: {infant} – Cora Marie Kingsley was born in the cold winter on February 4th, practically a Valentines blessing. Her parents were excited about having their baby girl, especially since this was their first child. They have tried having kids beforehand, but they had resulted in miscarriages and stillbirths. They felt blessed about having such a miracle child, and vowed to give her the best life an education possible in a Team Rocket infested Kanto Region. They moved from the Saffron City to Vermillion, hoping to have less of a city feel, yet her father’s workplace was still within reasonable distance, Silph Co.
{toddler} – The toddler years rushed by quickly, and she was a very mischievous little girl. Cora got into everything. She was such a curious little girl, and smart too. She picked up speech before grasping her motor skills. She loved to pick up pencils and pens and scribble behind couches and other kinds of furniture. She loved to write letters and were fascinated by the way looked. Her mother read to her every night, and soon she had memorized the stories and would nearly repeat whatever was on the page. Cora’s parents invested this interest in fairy tales and stories, and bought her dozens of different books which she had finished by the end of her toddlerhood.
{child} – Cora ended up being the only child her parents ever had, despite many failed attempts. Being the only child, there was a lot expected of her. She was sent to a school for those who were to begin their pokemon journey. She learned strategies and type advantages, and all those she needed to know. However, this whole pokemon thing was not what she really wanted. Cora enjoyed being alone, writing in her journals and reading her fantasy. There was something about fiction was took a hold of her, and festered as a passion. Cora loved dreaming about princesses, and their knights in shining armor. She felt weird about not wanting to become a pokemon trainer, but her parents more or less pushed her toward that path.
{pre-teen} – When Cora was young, that awkward stage between being a child and being a teenager, she felt as if her hobbies and interested were under much scrutiny. Cora became withdrawn, but now she was much more reluctant to do what her parents wanted her to do. Her parents decided maybe it was time she became… an apprentice or assistant of some sort, so they pulled some strings and had her sent to study under the watchful eye of Celadon City’s gym leader, a very young and very inexperienced Erika.
{teen pt 1} – Now living away from home, and the impulse of puberty rushed in and stole Cora, turning her into a mix of strange emotions and a perfect candidate for acne products. The environment she worked in was in the world of arts and entertainment, taking care of foliage, and making sure the gym was up and running. Cora never became a trainer during this time, mostly because she refused. She hated the way pokemon were treated for the use of sport. There were times she had snuck out, running off to gamble. Although Celadon City was known for being the center of serenity and shopping, it had its shady parts too. Being the teenager she was, she felt good about the attention men and even Team Rocket grunts would give her, but she would never want to talk about herself. Cora thought she was just so… lame.
{teen pt 2} – After a while, a certain boy had caught her eye. She had boyfriends before, but this one was so… different. He was mysterious, and poised, and although he hung around the gambling corner she noticed he never gambled. They both needed a release, a way out, but they both never understood what each other was going through. The mystery intrigued her, and they became very serious despite not knowing much of each other. As time went on, she was able to pick out a few things about him, and she suddenly became very scared. It did not matter what he tried to hide, Cora would always end up finding out about what he was doing. He was a ex-Team Rocket Grunt, who worked with everything she so desperately despised. Angry and hurt, she left him, but it was already too late. Cora was pregnant, and she had no other option than to return to her parents.
{adult} – Reluctantly, Cora’s parents took her in, despite the new expected arrival. They had moved back into Saffron City, and watched daily as their baby girls belly swelled, and finally she had the little girl when she was just eighteen years old. Cora was a statistic, but after a while her parents came to terms with being grandparents, and allowed her and her child to live under their roof. Cora began working as a freelance writer, and has tried writing novels, but never finished them. Her muse was severely suffering ever since she had her baby, named Leah. She tried working hard, but taking care of her bustling toddler became more of a burden than a blessing. Cora needed a vacation, and so her and little Leah decided to go on a cruise after months of saving, which was docked in Vermillion. However, tragedy struck the boat and its passengers. The ship was caught in a whirlpool, and then sucked into the deep depths of the ocean by a strange and peculiar Pokemon.
{now} – Cora was one of the few passengers to escape that harsh fate. She drifted out to sea, dehydrated and hungry beyond belief. She had fell unconscious, but when she finally woke, she found herself in an entirely new region. A fresh start was nice, but it costed her memory. Cora now has temporary amnesia, and as time goes by she will slowly remember the life she had in Kanto.
