Never before had Aurora so much as set foot upon as immense a boat as the one that had just taken her here all the way from Sinnoh. It probably wasn't even possible to count on both hands the number of times she'd gotten lost or wandered into the wrong cabin aboard such a large vessel. It wasn't her fault they all looked the same! And those snooty ship attendants who constantly shoved her this way and that in response to her consistent sense of misdirection didn't help much either. Give a farm girl a break, why don't they. But not even the poor attitude of ill-tempered deck hands could have tainted the eager excitement she'd held within her from the very moment she left her hometown of Solaceon, not to mention the blood-pumping sense of adrenaline that rushed through her veins as the ship came ever closer to port. A world of dreams and adventures with Pokemon awaits- that's how the phrase goes, right? Well Cheyenne better live up to this girl's expectations, 'cause she's got hopes for this place that far exceed anything the tiny confines of the family ranch she once called home could ever offer her.
So after nearly trampling down three or so other ship-goers, she finally made her way down the exit ramp and onto solid land. The first step of a new journey was always the most memorable one, yes, but there was no time for quiet reflection on the matter now- the very second her impatient gaze met with a sign reading ‘Lab’ she was already off in that direction, striding down the pathway many an aspiring trainer had already tread before her. The shining sun overhead gave way for clear blue skies and glistened with the same bright glow as her own azure eyes, shimmering with a mixture of nerves and excitement. What was her new partner going to be like? She’d be happy with pretty much any Pokemon, but let’s hope that the lab attendants were a lot friendlier than the staff she’d been met with on the ship.
So lost in her thoughts about such matters, she nearly ran headfirst into the very building she’d been looking for. The slightest chill ran up her spine at the realization that she’d in fact reached her destination, a deep breath sucking in through her nostrils and her posture taking on as professional a stance as she could manage; though her eagerness and inexperience with such a thing shone straight through. Unsure of just what to expect, she took a short moment to steel her nerves before pushing through the doors and giving a curious glance around the open room. "Knock knock, anyone home?" her southern accented voice called through the building, accompanied by a few redundant knocks as her knuckles tapped against the door frame she stood under. "A soon-to-be trainer extraordinaire is looking for her first Pokemon!" The cheery, excited tone practically dripped off her voice as she held back the urge to just barge through the back rooms of the place and help herself.

A young female with long golden blond hair peeked her head out and a smile filled her face when she saw the young trainer standing there. “ Well! Hello there! Welcome to Professor Winter’s Lab, but unfortunately it seems he’s out at the moment,” she pondered lightly before she opened the door all the way letting the young trainer in. “ But that’s okay! I know what to do and I can substitute in his place! My name’s Cynthia, by the way, and that’s my garchomp over there,” the young blond said with a warm smile as she pointed over to the garchomp that was standing in the corner. The young garchomp was afraid to move around a lot… after all he was pretty big to be moving around and accidently messing up the professor’s things! “ Alright, so I’m pretty sure you’re here for your first pokemon. Have you gotten a chance to take a look at the list of what Proffessor Winter has to offer?” Cynthia asked the young trainer curiously. The girl’s fingers continued to drum against the rim of the door, moving her head to peek into the room further when it suddenly swung open. What was revealed beyond the doorway was certainly not the generic white lab coat-adorning assistant she’d be expecting to greet her. The shock was quite apparent across her lightly freckled face; the champion of the Sinnoh region just so happened to be here? And about to give her her first pokemon of Cheyenne, no less! Man, would the family back home love to hear about this. It took her a minute to notice how she she’d just been standing there with her mouth partly open this entire time, quickly moving inside and turning to close the door behind her as if to hide the brush of pink that now coated her cheeks. Talk about rude. “I know who you are!” she finally blurted out, the excitement finally setting in from such an unforeseen encounter. “Champion of the Sinnoh league. I’m from there too! Solaceon, actually, and…” Once again she had to catch herself; listening to the life story of a greenhorn trainer she'd just met was probably the last thing this highly respected woman had the time or interest to do. Letting a quick sigh of composure escape her, she slowed down her speech and started again with a wide and cheery smile. “...I’m- Aurora, by the way. It’s a real pleasure to meet you, Miss Cynthia.” Now that the formalities were out of the way, she couldn’t help but drift closer towards the Garchomp she’d be glancing at with intrigued eyes. She showed no fear of the large Pokemon, but kept a distance out of respect for it. “And how are you doing, big fella?” Her tone was filled with a warmth that matched the nature of her smile and reflected the utter love she had for all such mysterious creatures.
Hands clasped behind her back, she peered back at Cynthia in response to her question. “Not yet! But I’ve heard they’re really special.” She stood there in thought for a moment, before a realization crossed her mind. “..Hey, if you don't mind my asking, what’re you doing here in Cheyenne anyways?” Bright blue eyes filled with curiosity watched the figure, waiting patiently for a reply.

Chibi Sinnoh Champion Cynthia! The beautiful champion giggled, amused by the little trainer's dumbfounded expression. She was used to getting that kind of reaction from people when they saw her. They acted like she was some superior and mighty being they had to respect and fear. Honestly, that was so ridiculous! She's just a tad bit stronger than an average trainer, nothing else. She didn't become the champion for the fame and fortune. She took on this role, because she loved Pokémon and she wanted to test the trainers who challenged her.
"Oh, so you are from Sinnoh too? We have the best region in the world, right?" Cynthia smiled at Aurora and tried to start a conversation to make the younger girl ease up. She took out a neatly folded paper the Professor left for her before he left and gave it to the trainer. "It's a list of the Pokémon found in the lab." After those horrible Team Death members raided the lab, the Pokémon available to the newbie's dropped drastically. Oh, if she could meet one of those bastards, she'd sic her Garchomp on them!
Aurora's question made Cynthia's rage subside as she shifted her attention back at the child. "Professor Winter asked me to look after the lab while he's away. He mentioned something about getting new starter pokemon, but I don't remember anymore." She was in the middle of a battle with an unusually powerful trainer when the Prof called so she couldn't pay attention closely to what he said.

Well it’s not every day that you get to talk to a champion of the elite four. It’s a big honor for most, especially trainers like Aurora who hope to one day best her in battle! But getting her Pokemon was the first step of such a goal; it was just a matter of choosing what species would accompany her in her own journey to the top. Turning on a heel to face Cynthia once more, the trainer-to-be flashed a proud smile and gave a chuckle of agreement to her words. “With the very best Pokemon League too, for sure,” was her playful reply as she gently took the outstretched paper to read. Woah, quite the selection indeed! She couldn’t help but raise an impressed brow at so many different types, some recognizable as natives to Sinnoh and some completely unheard of as far as she knew.
The girl herself had no knowledge on ‘Team Death’ or of anything in this foreign region really, but the very name would be enough to strike up a wariness within her. Trainers who steal the opportunity of forming a lifelong bond with Pokemon from others? If that was the case, then she’d certainly share Cynthia’s sentiment on the matter. She blinked back up at Professor Winter’s substitute, her curiosity more or less satisfied. “Speaking of starters,” she began, taking one last glance at the list. It was a pretty hard choice, and to be honest she’d be happy with any single one of these amazing options. Each of them would grow up to be strong and substantial Pokemon with time, love, and effort. But there was one in particular that caught her eye, one she’d had her heart set on from early experiences with Pokemon in Sinnoh since a young age, so-
“I think I’ll take this one!” Her finger eagerly tapped the image of Riolu that lay listed on the paper. “All of them are cuties, but I can’t help but settle on one that reminds me home, y’know?” Riolu were natural to the Sinnoh region, after all. She held out the paper for the older trainer to take.

Cynthia giggled again at the girl's reply, remembering the very first Pokemon she ever battled in Sinnoh. It was a beautiful day and had just started with her Pokemon when the day had turned and she was chased by a shinx. That was when she had decided to become the best of the best and try to show everyone the experience that brought her forward. Then again, that was many, many years ago and now, Cynthia had everything she could ever dream of- which included the pleasure of meeting a lot of new trainers trying to do the right thing.
The Champion reached up, pushing her golden hair to the side before moving around a bit, giving the girl a chance to look over the list. The starters were so fancy and there were so many before the large battle between Team Death and Ace Academy but, there was nothing they could do now about it since it was already over. Cynthia tried to think of how many Pokemon Team Death actually took- it angered her a bit and she sighed, crossing her arms, only to look over and notice that the girl was now excited about a Pokemon. "Ah! That one."
She smiled, walking over to pull out a drawer full of Pokeballs. Carefully, she picked one of the red and white spheres up and tossed it at the girl before turning to grab a bag. "Here, you'll need this too with your new Pokemon." She walked back over, handing over the starter pack. It felt nice working with one of the new trainers and helping them on their road to victory. "I wish you the best of luck." She turned herself, picking up some papers to move out of the way of the desk. There was a list of chores somewhere that she'd have to find before the Professor returned.

The young trainer’s azure gaze eagerly followed Cynthia’s every movement, the excitement beginning to bubble inside her even more. Her very first Pokemon as a brand new trainer! She hoped it would like her.. she was already sure that she’d love it no matter what. A bond between trainer and Pokemon has to be strong in order for either to grow, after all. So excited was she that she nearly dropped the Pokeball tossed at her. Quickly righting the fumble, she grabbed the bag full of starter supplies and clutched it and the Pokeball toward herself tightly.
“Thank you!” Both for the Riolu and the wish of luck. She would definitely need it; she’d never properly commanded a Pokemon in battle in her life. The thought suddenly caused the faintest flash of doubt to cross her eyes. Was she truly ready for this? She had to be! Trainers had to start somewhere, right? Besides- there was no turning back now. It was time to shake off that last glimmer of fear and face this challenge head on. Taking a confident stance, she held her Pokeball-clutching hand toward Cynthia with a hint of challenge in her smile. “I’ll let you get back to your work now, but be on the lookout for us in the future- once I’m done with Cheyenne, I’ll be comin' back to Sinnoh to face you!” Yes, right after she earns all the badges there of course. With those last words of parting she offered the older trainer a playful mock salute, shuffling back out the door and onwards to the next part of her journey- Route One.
