Another idea I had was rather simple. We have quite a few contests here on Cheyenne that give away prizes, such as Mystery Pic, and the Caption Contest.
Well, a lot of this has to do with skill and comedy sense. However, not every member has those kinds of abilities, so they may shy away from entering such contests. So, I had the idea of using a game that relies completely on Lady Luck to win.
For example, I think a good idea would be a Weekly Lottery-ish game. My idea for the game would be something like:
Members post a seven-digit number, starting at the beginning of the week (maybe starting on Monday or something). Then, when midnight of the final day rolls around, whoever's in charge of the game uses Random.org to come up with a seven random numbers and post them. For each number that matches, the user would would certain prizes. For example, if they matched 2 numbers out of the whole thing, they might win 200 PD and a couple Potions or something while being able to match all seven numbers would earn them perhaps some really big prize (like maybe a random Pokémon egg or just plain randomized Pokémon. The prizes would be outlined in the rules)
So, that's my second idea. What dost thou thinketh of that...eth?

I like it in theory, but it could be very complicated when you think about it. You would have to asign a number to every member who wanted to particpate and ugh. It would be more hastle that worth. Maybe make it like a draw? Number the members and then pick three numbers. Whatever the numbers are will be the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for said week. 1st Place: Egg Hurr 2nd Place: Moneyz 3rd Place: Ultra Ball Everyone Else: Berry But everyone should get something anyways. Even if its just a berry or a potion. You would have to post to be included tho.

Actually, I've played this game before. It's not really that bad. All you'd have to do is keep up with what everybody posts when they post it. If you put the numbers one above the other, it's easy to compare them.
Yes, I do agree that everybody will get something for participating...and perhaps the Drawing game would be a good idea as well.
In all honesty, I'd like to do either game, so if the Drawing is preferred, then I could go with that too~

...Hmmm. Actually, I do like this idea, and wouldn't mind running it solo (which obviously means I wouldn't win the delicious prizes on offer.) Maybe a Common-Uncommon Pokemon, a random egg, or a shitton of shards for anyone who gets seven numbers?
I am actually loving this idea. XD I'd have to ask for something similar to the Mystery picture's "Pot" System to take effect, with people forking over a small fee, such as 200-500PD, and you win that either as the big jackpot or for getting six numbers. And if you don't win it, it rolls over.

Black Ranger Talis: I don't think a fee would be a good idea. Unlike Mystery Pic, this is NOT a guaranteed payout. If we need to, we could make it monthy instead of weekly and up the prizes a bit more. And I think those prizes sound more like something for 4 or 5 numbers. Think about the odds of getting all 7 numbers. You only have a 1/10 chance to match for each number. And then there are 7 numbers, so the odds of getting all 7 are VERY slim.

But that's the joy of it. XD You can earn 200PD in three posts, which means a few one liners in a games section, a couple of RP posts, or even just contributing to the random general discussion threads that pop up. A cash prize would be fun and worthwhile. I won't push the point, but I like the idea.

I do like this, though I wouldn't make it a weekly contest. I mean F, Ari, and Draa have their weekly things.
Once a month though sounds acceptable. Maybe it could be set up on the last week of the month, and the numbers can be drawn around the month's last few days. As for how the prize system works:
* PD would have to go to only one member. It's a bit of a pain adding it to everyone. xD Even deducting it, but...ya know.
* Prizes wouldn't have a '1st place, 2nd place' system. Just specific prizes to how many numbers were matched. I would maybe even make the top prize a shiny egg, matching all 7 numbers.
* You lose PD for entering, but you can gain a booby prize for not getting a single matching number.
Now with the lottery, the order of the numbers matters, I assume? I would just go with the numbers 1-20 as well.

I think the numbers are supposed to be between one and nine, and we just choose seven. I'd assume the order matters, cos there'd be chaos if they didn't. "Five wasn't the first number on my list. BUT IT WAS THERE LOLOL."

Podz still thinks it sounds complicated and he doesn't understand it D: But anyways. I'm totally all for it but can we pay zilch! podz likes moneyz and wants to keep his moneyz!

Personally, I would say don't ask for money, unless you're willing to just go through all the members all the time to deduct the cash. I mean it makes sense as you're buying a 'lottery ticket' or whatever, but if you want, sure. If you do take moneyz, i think it would be fun if you just kept the money until someone gets X matches and then all that money goes to that member.
Once a month sounds fine, and I think a shiny egg for 7 matches would be more than adequate. I mean if you do the math it's just... so impossible to get all seven.
It could be something like (Where the PD can be a set number or just PD from a pot) Numbers would be from 1-100, and the order wouldn't matter? I mean getting them in order would really just be making our own impossible lottery system. And no duplicate numbers.
MATCHES - - 7 - - shiny random egg + PD - - 6 - - pokemon egg + PD - - 5 - - PD + 15 shards - - 4 - - 15 shards - - 3 - - Revive - - 2 - - Ultra Ball - - 1 - - Pokeball - - 0 - - lolnothing
something like that sound good?

The numbers 1 through 9?
So lets see...if I'm doing this right...
P(9,7)= 181,440 possible arrangements for the special 7 numbers picked. No repeating numbers. So the chances of getting the top prize is certainly against you, but you guys can still try.
ME? RUN A CONTEST? REALLY?
-----
EDIT:
1 through 100, order doesn't matter?
/math math math/
LOL NO. The chances of anyone getting anything is like, bad. XD
The prize system looks good to me. But depending on who runs it, ya know. Stuff changes. The Pokemon Egg for 6 matching numbers can be an uncommon Pokemon, since that's still fairly unlikely.

I think you have the math wrong for 1-9 If you don't have order, there are only 36 combinations as can be seen here. I think your formula takes into account the position of the number which is much much much harder.

It sounds complicated to me and since getting all numbers will probably never happen why don't you lower it to five like in the game?

If you have five numbers from 1-9 that CAN be repeated, you get: 1/9 chances per number ^5 = 0.00016935 = 1:59049 So around 1:60000 chance of getting all five right. I can deal with that Besides, even the non-grand prize is pretty enticing. Here are rough estimates, rounded to look pretty/ [6 would be 1:530000, while 7 would be 1:4803k] - - 5 - - shiny random egg + PD || 1:60000 - - 4 - - PD + 15 shards || 1:6550 - - 3 - - 15 shards || 1:830 - - 2 - - Ultra Ball || 1:80 - - 1 - - Pokeball || 1:9 - - 0 - - lolnothing || Will vary depending on answer. Something like that, maybe. I would say post numbers in order (like smallest to biggest) and we just count how many you've matched.

Ah, probably. I'm so confused at math. >.>'
But these odds are a lot better, and it's still not like, WE WILL WIN AMAZING THINGS EVERY TIME.
And no deducting money? Sounds easy. Yay. Easy. <3

First off, I'd like to say that my intention was to have all seven numbers range from 0-9, not 1-9. But if you'd like 1-9, then be my guest.
Five also sounds better. I overestimated the odds of getting five (too lazy to do the math). xD; That was my first guess was five, but ended up bumping it to seven.
And really, Podzie, while the math sounds complicated, the game itself is not. Members would simply post any five numbers they want. Then, when it comes time to do the drawing, whoever is in charge simply pulls up five random numbers and they are all compared. Then prizes are given out to all participating members according to the prize chart.
As for the chart itself, it seems like a good one to me. Although I'd recommend turning the Ultra Ball prize into an "Any kind of non-Master Pokéball you want" thing.

0-9 makes more sense. I'll recalculate the rewards. The last three can be changed depending on like what Spirit feels like. So it can be an ultra ball one day and a magikarp the other. If no PD is being deducted, then maybe have a little 100PD/member that decides to take part. You can even just make it so that posting gives you 0 PD to kind of give you that money, without having to deduct anything Five numbers from 0-9 - - 5 - - shiny random egg + PD + Shards || 1:100 000 - - 4 - - PD + 15 shards || 1:10 000 - - 3 - - 15 shards || 1:1000 - - 2 - - Ultra Ball || 1:1000 - - 1 - - Pokeball || 1:10 - - 0 - - lolnothing || Will vary depending on answer.
