Again, poison zapped more of Irasu's health. Ekans' hold with Wrap continued to drain his health as well. This time, he swung his paw up in front of his face, shoving a few of the stingers out of the way so that they were launched towards the ground. The rest stuck into his hand, causing a far greater agony than when they had been lodged into his belly, though it was in a small quantity. Angered, he leered at the snake again, then leaned forward and used another Bite, hoping to sufficiently weaken the snake.

Feeling the pain of Larvitar's fangs in it's body, Ekans finally released it's grip on Irasu. The Sandstorm hit him once more, weakening him further. Feeling the strain of the battle take it's toll, Ekans decided it was time for one final Poison Sting. So it repeated the same process as before, firing more poisonous barbs at the Larvitar.

Unfortunately for Irasu, when the Ekans released its grip, Irasu had not ended the Bite attack. He was only dragged for a few inches, which didn't really do anything but shock him. However, it made him an impossible-to-miss target for the Ekans' Poison Sting. Every single dart made its mark in Irasu, making him twitch for several moments as the poison took effect. The poison inside him took out even more damage than usual, leaving him feeling too helpless to lunge towards the snake ((HAH! Ekans =D ... Sorry. Ignore that.)) with another Bite. So instead, he mustered up the energy to spew up another Sandstorm attack. Which was probably a good move, as the previous Sandstorm had been fading. Meanwhile, Alaina seemed to be too awed by her first-ever battle to remember that it was, well, hers. She seemed fine with simply watching the battle, rather than directing half of it, or helping Irasu, which could have been part of the reason he was so weak by that time.

Thoroughly weakened, the ekans could no longer go on. It took one look at the Larvitar, eyes filled with praise. <"Great battle."> It hissed weakly. Eyes half open, the ekans rested it's head to the ground.

Irasu felt empowered by the victory, but was exhausted. As soon as he saw it faint, he went to sleep himself. Alaina was excited, but still rather shocked by the outcome of the first battle she'd ever seen. She withdrew her victorious Larvitar, and turned to the fainted Ekans.
"Good job, Irasu! ... As for you, you put up an excellent fight! I think you'll be a good addition to the team." She said, more to herself than to the fainted Pokémon. Without wasting another moment, she pulled out a pokeball and threw it at the Ekans.

The Ekans hissed at the comment before the pokeball sucked it inside. The pokeball wobbled from side to side and then stopped with a resounding ding.

Alaina picked the ball up and grinned. Deciding to be as original as mentally possible, she named the Ekans Venom. She placed it back on her belt, reflecting with pride that she already had 6 Pokemon, and it was only her second day as a trainer. Most of those 6 had no experience battling, but that was, so far as she was concerned, a rather minor detail. Without wasting more time, she continued walking down the route, searching for more Pokemon to battle.

The breeze was cool. The six year old girl bundled herself tightly in her fleece jacket. It snowed lightly, so Kipper, her shiny mudkip, tucked itself into her coat. She looked up to see the trainer before her, and her eyes softened.
Nara was a quiet, reserved little girl who ran away from home years ago. She recently found out her mother, Miranda, journeyed into Cheyenne to find her.
Now she stayed away from anyone who could have contacted her mother, but this trainer looked new, and she saw that she had just caught a new pokemon. Scared to approach, she stood behind.
Then..Kipper coughed.

Walking on, still proud of her full team, Alaina almost passed Nara up. The young trainer turned to face the girl only when she heard the little cough. She cocked her head curiously. Why was a girl of her age out shivering in the snow? She approached the girl, not noticing the oddly colored Mudkip concealed within the girl's jacket at first. She noticed only the shivering girl. Why was she not inside, drinking hot chocolate in front of a fire? Pokemon journeys weren't supposed to start until you were ten years old. This girl looked far too small to be that age.
"Are you okay? Do you need any help? What is your name?" She asked, kneeling down in the snow to be at eye level with the girl. Only then did she notice a small bulge in the girl's jacket. She saw a hint of something purple, but wasn't quite sure of what it was; whatever it was, though, she didn't think it important enough to ask about it.
"I'm Alaina, by the way. What are you doing out here?"

Nara was rather smart for her age, and she giggled a bit about being sweet-talked by an elder. "Sorry, just passing. But I just saw your last battle. You're quite impressive!" Kipper jumped out from her jacket in a friendly greeting.
"I'm Nara! That's kipper. Nice to meet you!"

Alaina smiled, appreciating the praise, even though she felt like the girl was laughing at her. Ah well. She'd done it as a kid, too. Her eyes were drawn to the Mudkip and stayed there once they saw its odd color. She'd seen a Mudkip once before, and it had most definitely been blue and orange, not... Purple and orange. Well, then. First, a weird-colored Skitty. Then, a Slugma. And now this. Woah. Epidemic much?
"Thanks. And um... Just curious, why is Kipper, you know... An... Unusual color?" She asked, trying to choose her words carefully so as to not insult the girl. As a child, she had disliked being offended; she had spent time on her own, cherished her possessions, and had basically acted a lot like this girl, Nara. It's kind of odd, She reflected, How your past can come back into your life so easily sometimes.

{Obviously this has been left alone for too long} Interrupting the light conversation of the pair, a new pokemon made it's appearance.
It's black coat was a large contrast to their surroundings, so the pokemon made no attempt to conceal itself. Food had become quite scarce for some time since winter had hit, as though times weren't hard enough with humans coming all over the place. Four black paws quietly padded through the snow, nearing Alaina and Nara. It had thought it had smelled some food but then it might have been the floral scent of both girls.
A Poochyena looked curiously at the pair, a hard look on it's face, clearly disappointed from it's discovery.

((... Well, then. I wonder if this is a record. Nine months between a post and reply. xD)) At the sound of footprints, Irasu turned around to face the newcomer. He didn't know what the Pokemon was, as he'd never seen a dog-like Pokemon - much less a Poochyena - before. Being unsure of what it wanted, he tugged on his trainer's jeans. Alaina turned around and had to contain her squeal of delight at finding another wild Pokemon; even as a stereotypically "tough"-ish outdoors girl, she still had a soft spot for cute things. Furry puppies, for instance.
She didn't notice how thin it was right away. She didn't see it at first because of the surprise of seeing a new Pokemon; once she got over that, not even the wild dog's fur hid its small belly. Normally, she would have checked it out with her Pokedex, but she wanted to find out a few things for herself, first. That decided, she began digging around in her bag (it took a while; organization was not her specialty) until she found the ziplock bag with Naliya's food, hoping that the two species would have similar tastes. They were both dog-like, right? She held a bit out in her hands and knelt down, offering it to the wild Pokemon.
"Hey, little guy... You hungry?" Irasu stepped back in nervousness; he'd never met a Poochyena, but he had met dark Pokemon. This one looked like a dark type, and that boded ill for him. He growled ((not the attack - just a warning growl kind of thing)) softly, eyes narrowed. Just being a dark type was reason enough for Irasu to not trust the dog.
<Watch it, pup. Don't try anything.> He stirred up a light wind, ready to whip up a Sandstorm in case the wild dog tried something unnecessary, like biting off his trainer's hand while eating the food. Or biting off his trainer's hand and ignoring the food, or any variation of it. Apparently he wasn't as trusting as his trainer was, or anywhere remotely close to it.

Poochyena looked up at the trainer and let his tongue loll from his mouth. {Food? That sounds devine!} he said, wagging his short little tail and walking over to the trainer.
He glanced over at Irasu and narrowed his eyes. {What do you mean? She's offering me food! Why would I try anything except to eat it? That would be far too rude!} he sniffed, lifting his tail and walking closer to the trainer.
{Thank you very much!} he said politely, carefully lapping up the food he had been offered. {I was feeling a might peckish!}

"Aw, you're so cute! Does that taste good? I hope it does, because Naliya's not going to like this very much."
Alaina let out a quiet laugh, not noticing Irasu's apparent dislike of the Poochyena. She was tempted to pet it, but chose against it. Irasu crossed his short arms at the dog's comment, but seemed to relax when it didn't (immediately) eat his trainer, and didn't say anything else. Alaina waited until the wild Pokemon had eaten all of the small amount of food she'd offered before standing up. She was about to walk away - she liked the little dog, but she didn't really need another dog-like Pokemon, nor did she need a dark type. She didn't particularly want to battle it, but she had a gym battle coming up...
"Hey... Do you maybe want to battle? Or come with us?"
For some reason, she felt attached to the puppy; she couldn't help but asking, just in case, even though she didn't need it. Irasu suddenly looked hopeful at the idea of another fight - he was excited for their first gym battle, too, but apparently, he wasn't strong enough for her to take the gym leader on just yet.

<Oh, you are a trainer, right? I guess if I fought, then I’d really help you out then. So sure, but just so you know, I won’t go easy on you. I was trained well.> He barked with a content lick of his lips, a pearly white fang showing as he done so. The Poochyena didn’t quite know who he was going to be up against, nor did he care. Variety was the spice of life, right? And even if he did lose, his injuries wouldn’t be that bad. He knew when to give up, and wasn’t as stubborn as most Wild Pokemon around here.
’I wonder how I should start things off? Get stronger, or weaken my opponent?’ He pondered as he finished the last bits of his meal. Not once did it occur to him that fighting after a meal might have been a bad idea, but it was a sure thing that he was going to get major stomach cramps later in the day.
<Alright. I’m ready. > With a proud raise of his muzzle, the dark pup had taken a couple of steps back to give room between himself and his new opponent. He had experience in fights, no doubt. But he was still just a newbie compared to his older brothers.

<Yep, she's a trainer. And I'll battle you.> Irasu offered, stepping in front of his trainer. Alaina nodded her approval, as she had planned to use him anyway. He wondered what the Poochyena meant by having been 'trained well,' but didn't pay too much attention to it. He had more important things to deal with at the moment, anyway. He pawed the ground with his foot, waiting for a signal from either his opponent or his trainer.
<Alright. I’m ready.> Irasu turned his attention to his trainer, trying to tell Alaina what was going on - most specifically, that a battle was starting. He was strongly against attacking without commands; a trait which had been drilled into him at a young age by his parents before going off on his own. So he waited, though somewhat impatiently, for a command from her.
"Alright, Irasu, use Leer, then whip up a Sandstorm!" Irasu nodded, and glared at his opponent for three long seconds, hoping to weaken its defenses. As soon as he felt done, he turned around on her heel multiple times, then jumped up, landing down with a thud!, carrying a small amount of dirt into the air. The wind gathered around the Larvitar, whipping up a lot more sand, dust and dirt, forming the Sandstorm. The cyclone slowly moved in the general direction of the wild Poochyena; it surely wouldn't be over in one move.

The Poochyena glared back, not feeling anything for him. However, he knew his defenses went down. Although he didn't care all that much. Because he would win, and then it wouldn't matter. Of course it would do him no good to become overconfident. But at least he had trust in himself! Pulling himself together, he closed his eyes as, on the first turn, the Sandstorm braced his ears roughly.
<Ugh,> he snorted. This wasn't good. Already a Sandstorm, and this was just the beginning of the battle! It was going to take some practice to get this right. And plus, it took damage from him every turn. He quickly jumped up into the air and aimed a Tackle attack at the Larvitar. No matter what, he would try his very best. He promised that vehemently to himself, hoping also that the Tackle would hit. His accuracy wasn't the best at the moment, especially because of the Sandstorm from Irasu. [/center]
