Bonito glared at the Charmeleon for even making such a dumb comment like that. Not that he was actually offended by it, just annoyed at the fire Pokemon's stupidity. Honestly, what was he supposed to say to counter that? Almost anything.
Karen's glance was directed towards the battle once more after hearing the pleasant sounds of rocks falling, and then utter silence. It would suck if they ended up killing the poor guy, since the Charmeleon population wasn't exactly thriving at the moment. But something was moving under there, and glowing a strange red aura. One that mimicked the ones that Guapo and Bonito had. She was watching curiously, never seeing the Blaze ability kick in up close. Sure, she started out with Juan, a Chimchar. But they never relied on that ability before.
"SHIT! Use Bulk Up!" Karen shouted at the sight of the familiar blue flames, even if it wasn't a fire attack, it looked dangerous. After all, it was the attack that had created the turning point in the match with Guapo. The Shadow Tyrogue nodded, buffing himself at once with a defense and attack boost. Not that it would help against the special effects of the Dragon Rage, as he was proving with grunts and with a bitten lip. As soon as it was over, he was left looking a dark black, crisp and sore from the move. But not knocked out, or anything close to it. Without a word, he ran forward with his uncontrollable rage to Tackle him.

The Charmeleon was left panting as the rocks that had once been draped all over his body flew in the air and landing with a resounding boom. Huh, that attack had been quite strong. The Charmeleon let out a soft giggle, he could feel the toll that attack had taken on him. The Shadow Tyrogue was nearly at full health too, while he had just battled another version of him. Growling in frustration the Charmeleon glanced around him, he could probably make a run for it. These trainers didn't know their way around the mountain. His eyes darted around uneasily scanning the surroundings for an escape plan.
The fire lizard Pokémon finally noticed that damage that the fierce Dragon Rage he had just delivered left the Tyrogue a blackened piece of meat. This observation cheered him up a bit, and he decided to take down as many Pokémon as possible. He was no chicken and he wasn't going to run, ignoring his escape plans, he settled in to make this a fight to the finish.
The Tyrogue was rather upset, the Charmeleon noticed eyes widening a smidgen when the Pokémon came barreling towards him with a Tackle. He took the hit bravely, knowing he wouldn't be able to get out of the way in time, the hit came as a crushing blow, but since he had a size advantage he braced himself and only moved a few feet.
Breathing heavily, he laughed victoriously victory in his eyes. With his Blaze ability, this attack was going to smart! Taking in a deep breath, he released a huge hoard of Embers, and since the Tyrogue was still close range from the tackle attack, it would be nearly impossible to dodge!

Bonito felt his body stiffen at the Charmeleon's belly caving in, he was about to try out another attack and he had to act fast. Getting onto his feet, he used yet another Bulk Up to raise his defense. It was the only thing he had to rely on before he was Embered by the blaze powered attack. It wasn't as bad as the Dragon Rage, but it really made his body sore. A formidable opponent, but this only meant that his health was low. He had to use an equally powerful attack in order to knock him out for good.
"He should be weak Bonito, use Rock Slide before he can dodge!" Karen called over, resting the weakened Guapo on the ground so she could cheer the Shadow Tyrogue on. For baby Pokemon, they were pretty tough. Fragile, but tough. She kept forgetting how young the two actually were until she saw their childish behavior with each other. But times like these, Bonito and Guapo could really pull through.
The Shadow Tyrogue gave a nod at this action, and even if he was tired, he could only imagine the exhaustion that the fire type was feeling. He could take this beast down, even if he took on four Dragon Rage attacks! Stomping heavily on the ground, rocks flew up into the air, and he kicked them right at the fire type. At close range as well, an even harder attack to dodge.

The Charmeleon snarled in pleasure as he snorted out smoke from his nostrils, rings of smoke floated around his head giving him a smoky halo. The fire lizard narrowed his eyes at the Shadow Tyrogue, he didn't look too tired, crispy, yes, but not tired. He however, felt exhausted he would have problem falling to the ground and going to sleep right now. His gaze dropped to the pebbled beneath his feet and he kicked one weakly.
Letting out a tired cackle, he glanced back up his opponent, before his eyes widened in terror. He had been so out of it, he hadn't noticed the trainer giving out her orders. But now, a wave of rocks was hovered over his head, and within moments they crashed down upon him. A surge of pain and everything faded away, in a wave of blackness. The Charmeleon, passed out under a few tons of rocks and now capture able.
The Cleffa, clutching her doll to her tightly, stood quietly beside the trainer. She started bawling, breaking the silence with a piercing scream. <M-my only friend is gone!> she blubbered, tears falling as she hugged her doll tightly. <What am I going to do?> she asked, seemingly talking to her doll. She was all alone.
Guapo gains a level!
Capture the Charmeleon or move on?

((Actually, all participating Pokemon would gain a level, or in this case, Guapo would gain two because of the lucky Egg. As a side note. ^^ ))
The Light Tyrogue weakly opened his eyes at the sound of crying, his subconscious kept bugging him about it until the noise became louder and louder. Something in his heart had opened up, feeling compassion and sympathy for the tiny Cleffa. She didn't deserve to be around that evil little Charmeleon, she needed to be around other Pokemon like her.
"Hang on...Don't cry..." Karen began, feeling at a loss for words at the Cleffa's emotional outburst. She thought that they were doing a good deed, protecting the little guy (girl) from that bully. And these certainly weren't tears of joy, so something was up. Her Clefairy Maria might know what to do in a situation like this, but she was enjoying herself in the PC. It felt wrong to suddenly bring the fairy Pokemon into a place like this.
Bonito was simply standing in shock, and it wasn't because of the obvious reason of winning against a Charmeleon. Something from within him felt funny, and he could sense that Guapo felt it too. The two fighting types had locked eyes, not quite understanding the feelings from inside themselves until they began to glow. With Bonito, instead of a bright light, his shadow aura began to grow around him. Flickering like a deathly fire as it rose up to the ceiling of the tunnel they were in, his body was increasing in size and power. The same thing was happening for Guapo, but instead of a fire, his aura was gently wrapped around him like a blanket. As if it was healing him while he grew larger and larger, leaving Karen to be stunned by this spectacle. She didn't even know which one of the two Pokemon to look at until they finished their transformation.
"Hitmon?" "Hit...Hitmontop..." The two chimed after a successful evolution. The Shadow Hitmonlee was still in shock from the height difference, examining his hands and legs with a newfound curiosity. He also felt more mature, not seeing everything as that innocent color that he saw as a Tyrogue.
The Hitmontop slowly got up to his feet, his main surprise was the fact that he had a tail. Well disguised as one of his legs, with a a sharp claw on the tip of it. The Light Hitmontop was now feeling better than ever, with the Super Potion from earlier and the powers of his evolution, he felt like he could take on anything!
<Why don't you travel with us for a while? I'm sure that we can find you some friends in the Volcano.> The Hitmontop went down on his knees, looking kindly at the tiny Cleffa while Karen gently stroked the little one's head. Trying to calm down the baby Pokemon so her other Pokemon could reason with it. At the same time, she took out one of the Pokeballs from her pocket. But this wasn't an ordinary Pokeball, it was a Repeat Ball. Though she never captured any Charmeleons, she had seen at least two of them in the past. One from Chris, and one from Janel. She knew that such a tough Pokemon was hard to come by these days, and she couldn't resist the thought of snagging it. With a gentle toss, she threw it at the fainted Charmeleon before pretending like nothing happened. Comforting the Cleffa while sending glances at the Pokeball from afar.

The Pokéball flew through the air, twirling gracefully, hit the floor, bounced, span again and was about to capture the Charmeleon, when there was a flash of fire and an amazing kick sent the Pokéball flying. 'Not this time!' Shouted the combusken, clearly one of the fallen charmeleon's freinds. 'waaa-wait for me!' came a voice, and suddenly a Meditite appeared from behind combusken. 'Get him out of here!' The Combusken screeched, and no sooner had she said this, another Combusken appeared out of nowhere and hitched Charmeleon onto it's shoulder, before jumping away again. 'You hurt big.C!' She said, meanacingly, her eyes narrowing to angry slits, and her face contorting with rage. 'Now we're gonna hurt you.' The duo assumed fighting stances, facing the newly evolved fighting Pokémon. This was about to get tough.

Karen felt her mouth drop at the powerful kick, and at once she was up in the air. Staring at the Combuskin with a stunned expression, she couldn't help but stare at those powerful legs. How come Juan didn't have legs like that? He had the fire stuff any everything too! Perhaps he was just a late bloomer, with the Cleffa still in her arms she couldn't help but grin at these new Pokemon.
So what if she lost the Charmeleon? At least he wasn't going to be alone anymore, so there wasn't any reason to try and capture him anymore. Then there was that Meditite, something that she had been meaning to capture for a while now. A mix of Psychic and Fighting...It was bound to get interesting.
<So are these your friends too? I thought the Charmeleon was the only one...But these guys seem to know'em.> Guapo stated, taking a hesitant step back at the mad looking Pokemon. He wasn't quite sure if fighting would be a good idea, but it didn't look like Karen was going to back down anytime soon. 'That look says it all...' The Hitmontop thought with a gulp, turning back around to face the Combuskin. He didn't care which opponent he had to fight with, he just wanted the easier of the two.
"Wow! I never knew that such cool Pokemon lived down here! I wonder where that other one went off too...But who cares! This is so f****ing awesome!" Karen started dancing around in place, she wasn't even watching her french when in this state of mind. She wanted to get a piece of these Pokemon, and with one look from Bonito, she could tell that he was just as eager to test his new body out as she was.
"Okay, two on two?" Karen started, noticing that both Pokemon resumed fighting stances, ready to fight. At least they were noble enough to let them have the first move, which she thanked them in her head before proceeding. She wanted to try out a new strategy that she came up with a while back, something she wanted to practice in future Gym Battles.
"Bonito. Swords Dance. Guapo, use Agility." She called out, watching in stunned amazement as the two became blurs as they went into battle. Bonito stopping in the middle of the 'arena' to begin moving his arms and legs around in a vigorous training exercise. Getting himself pumped up and ready to attack while Guapo instinctively dove onto his head, spinning around faster and faster as he whirled around Bonito instead of the two opponents. Since Karen didn't want them to attack just yet, he laid back, trying to protect the shadow Pokemon with his speedy body. It would've been a rapid spin if he knew how to control his body.

Both of the fighting type Pokemon's eyes followed the speedy couple trying to keep up with them. The combusken rolled its eyes toward the spinning Pokemon, it charged toward it, jumping into the air and releasing a fiery ember heading straight down at the spinning pokemon, hopefully catching it in an area it was spinning near.
Meanwhile the Meditite was calmly thinking of how to get to the Bonito. "Thats it!" he thought to himself he doesn't need to use a physical attack to get to him, just play with his mind. A purple aura glowed strongly around the the Meditite and it extended it's hand out toward the kicking Pokemon, It was using is confusion attack and hopefully it would land it.

The Combusken carefully watched the Shadow Hitmonlee, she wanted that guy for herself, even though she knew that it wasn't going to be an easy job. <We shall see which fighting duo is the best!> She shouted, winking at both Bonita, and Guapo. <Are you ready to do this?> She asked now looking over into the direction of Meditite.
Getting a little impatient, the Combusken swiftly used her massive legs to leap into the air, soon revealing her two glowing feet. She seem to be planning to jump over Guapo, and take Bonito down with her Double Kick.
Meditite on the other hand noticed that Combusken was wanting to go head to head with the Kicking Pokemon, had no choice, but to go after the Hitmontop, which really wasn't a problem with it, seeing that it was a little smaller then the Hitmonlee. Taking in a deep brethe the Meditite started Meditating peacefully, trying to raise it's attack power before attacking.

“Incoming!” Karen shouted, hoping that Guapo knew that she was trying to warn him about the Ember attack. The Hitmontop’s high speed was making it hard for him to keep up with his own body, and was quickly becoming dizzy and confused from his own attack. Suddenly jerking to the left in a blind attempt to dodge whatever was heading his way, the ember attack crashing into the ground behind him. The only bad thing about this was that the Light Hitmontop got caught in the Meditite’s mind blowing confusion instead.
The gravity defying move stopped the Pokémon’s twirling at once, and begun to rise into the air. Completely at the Meditite’s command as he struggled against his grip, the pressure was simply too mind blowing for the fighting type. Grunting and whining to himself about the pain and fear of what was going to happen next.
’Damn. I wish I understood Psychic types more…Or else I might be able to help out Guapo. I guess the only thing I can do is ruin his concentration.’ Karen thought with a sweat drop. Wouldn’t it be called cheating if she suddenly barged in like this? Well, by challenging her two Pokémon, she was brought into it as well. So anything she did, it would count as an attack. Taking in a deep breath, she began to recite a song that she once heard as a mere child.
“I know a song that gets on everybody’s nerves! Everybody’s nerves! Everybody’s nerves! I know a song that gets on Everybody’s nerves and this is how it goes~!” She blurted out, earning an odd look from Bonito before sweat dropping even harder than before. Okay. So maybe that didn’t work.
“Just use Double Kick on the Meditite to distract it.” She muttered, feeling embarrassed from her random hyper moment of the day. The Shadow Pokémon grunted in response, becoming pleased by the fact that longer legs gave him more speed than before. He jumped up into the air as soon as he reached the Meditite before whirling around. Sending a flurry of kicks at the Meditite with a smirk on his face, enjoying the new him.

Ooc// I'm Britney Bic// The Miditite looked at you as if you had 3 Heads, with your crazy singing and such. Surprisingly your singing is what distracted from dodging the kicks that your shadow Pokemon sent flying at Him. One kick, two kick, three kick, and four kick, Meditite was finally sent flying backwards after the multiple hits, his attack on the Hitmontop broken. He safely landed on his feet, in a attack pose. Glaring at Bonito. It Jumped toward a higher up rock and landed in a Meditation pose, it was using Meditate trying to focus its attack power. Combusken was watching the Hitmontop carefully and as soon as it dropped back down to the ground he was ready to attack. He ran toward the Pokemon with an extreme speed, dirt flying up underneath its feet each step it took. Kicks were sent flying at the Pokemon one after another, looks like the Combusken learned from your Hitmonlee and decided to use a double kick attack of his own.

ooc: Damn.
I read your name and at once I think 'Megan'. D:
WHY THIS TORTURE?!
BIC:
Karen couldn't help but chuckle at the Meditite's reaction, but hey, at least something worked for once. Now if only she could get Bonito and Guapo to do that for once...Both fighting Pokémon could -magically- tell what she was thinking, and sent her equal glares.
"Okay! Okay! Who gave you the right to read my mind anyways...?" She huffed, crossing her arms and pretending to ignore the battle for now. But a couple of wayward glances were all she needed to tell what was going on between the four Pokémon. Seeing that the Meditite was trying to raise its attack power, a Bulk Up would be the perfect counter. So he would be able to raise his defense and his attack even further. Hopefully that Swords Dance would be enough to make this an easy win.
"Bontio, use Bulk Up, and then use your Tackle." She offered, having a sudden feeling that fighting type moves wouldn't be as effective against a Meditite. It made it even harder on her newest additions to the team. Things were not looking that good for Guapo, who was struggling with the kicks and clouds of dust brought up by the Combuskin, raising his arms as some sort of protection while grunting. He was desperately trying to put up a better defense, but that simply wasn’t what he was good at.
“Get out of there with Agility.” Karen called; suddenly feeling worried about her fragile Hitmontop. Clenching her fists together as she thought about her next move, what would work against something like that? Guapo was able to make a swift retreat behind the Combuskin, and without an order from his trainer he shot out a Fake Out. Taking full advantage of the speed that Karen simply could keep up with on words alone, and at least this could buy her some time to think up the next attacks.

The Meditite sat still on the rock as you Hitmonlee bulked up preparing itself for further attacks. It didn't care what was going on around it at this point it was focusing, it missed its daily yoga work out so it had to make up somehow! It's senses were tingling as it felt the Pokémon coming in for a tackle, it opened its eye that were now glowing purple. It was once again using its confusion attack on the Kicking Pokémon right before it came in for the tackle. Slamming him harshly up against the rocks and letting him fall to the ground. Combusken looked around curiously after the kicks were released. Where did it go. Its agility was to quick for the bird Pokémon Immediately it was immobilized from the quick fake out attack, all it did was flinch. It started to slowly bring itself to its feet with an very angry look on its face, you better think of something quick before he gets back up. Ooc// all modified up!

The Confusion simply stumped the shadow Hitmonlee as he was flung into various rocks and onto the ground, the Psychic energy released from him as the aura disappeared into thin air. It had done a good number on him, that was for sure. But he had a good trick up of his sleeves to get back at the Meditite, and with triple the normal attack power, it was gonna get interesting.
"Hey, can you still fight?" Karen felt stupid asking that as Bonito struggled to his feet, arms swaying limply in the air because of his tall legs. A strange type of steam seemed to rise off of his body, growing with more intensity than before with a twisted glare at the Meditite. With his quick reflexes, he was fast in using a Revenge against the Meditite. Filled to the brim with a quick burst of emotional power by attempting to mimic what the Meditite did to him, but worse. With a quick grab of his arms, he tried to fling the Meditite against the many rocks around them, furiously working until the attacks grip on Bonito ceased down to a calmer state.
'What attack...Is that?' She was beginning to feel like a little child, just watching in stunned amazement at the scene before her. Never in her life had she seen Bonito act quite like this before, and she exchanged nervous glances with Guapo. Almost expecting him to do the same thing before announcing a new command.
"Now get it with your Rolling Kick, into the air!" Karen cried, punching a fist into the air to mimic the Light Hitmontop's movements. It was a strange feeling, being so in tune with your Pokemon that you could move in sync with them. And it felt totally natural, watching the speedy Hitmontop get back on his horn with impressive speed. His legs flying loosely into the air, its only protecting was the high speeds they were flying at as he charged forward at the Combuskin. Leaning at an angle and making a swift scoop movement at the last second, knowing that there was only hard rock to fall on.

The Meditite had been smirking at the victory it had accomplished, it had looked like the Hitmonlee couldn't even get up for a moment. It closed it's eyes and was beginning to relax, sinking into it's normal yoga routine. It would focus on the real world later, including the other battling pokemon. Right now, it had to build up it's mental strength. While succumbing to the relaxing necessary to acheave total calmness and clearing of the mind. It remained focus on what was going on outside it's shell of a body.
Everything was calm, until it felt an angry force outside. The anger directed towards the Meditite. Still reassured that the Hitmonlee was down for the count it was perfectly at ease when it eased open it's eyes. They quickly took in the steaming mad-literally- the Hitmonlee charging straight at him! Unable to make any movement quickly enough, his body being totally relaxed after all. Without fully knowing what was happening, he was seized and flung from side to side, crashing against the rocks with multiple crushing blows.
By the time the Hitmonlee eased up-- it didn't matter anymore. The Meditite had long since fainted, head lolling, eyes replaced by swirls.
Congrats! Bonito has gained a level! Capture the Meditite?
The Combuskin leapt away, deftly avoiding the spinning top pokemon. She had not been expecting for the Hitmontop to follow her movments though, and as much as she attempted to get away. The Hitmontop's speed overtook her once again, and she was swiftly scooped up to soar in the air. Quickly she twisted her body around so she would land on her legs. She was a bird pokemon after all, even if she didn't have wings. With a mighty Growl it winced as the pain of the attack settled in. <That's going to hurt in the morning...>she mumbled, before charging at the Hitmontop with an Ember spitting out flames at the pokemon.

Guapo went right back into a normal fighting position, he was still a bit unsure about his spinning ability, he was beginning to get the hang of it now. Letting out a tiny cry of surprise at the Growl attack, he winced as his attack power dropped. It wasn’t the best in the world already, but he had a feeling that what power he still had would be enough to give him a fighting chance of taking this fire bird down.
As soon as he saw the Ember attack, he was forced to stay still and take the intense fire move. It only seemed stronger when they were in the humid scenery, but he held his ground. With the silent support of Bonito, and Karen’s eccentric cheers of jumping up and down while trying to stay calm…It made him feel like he was doing something good.
’What now? I don’t think we should be wasting power on some of our stronger attacks anymore.’ The trainer had to be fast in her thinking, or else her timing would be all wrong. Watching the Combuskin finally stop her ember attack, she knew that this would be the perfect time to strike.
“Tackle it!” Karen cried, wanting to finish this battle up before she even thought about catching that Meditite. But with Bonito nearby, she was sure that the Psychic Pokemon wasn’t going to go anywhere. But even his attention was stuck watching Guapo and the Combuskin battle it out, hopefully this time he would win for a change.

The Tackle attack slammed into the Combusken who fell backward and hit its head off the ground. Ignoring the throbbing in its head, Combusken struggled to its feet. It would take a moment to get enough energy to attack and if you hit it it would faint.
Suddenly a small head appeared from behind a rock. It was a small Torchic. It looked at the Combusken with tear-filled eyes and managed to whisper, "Get up big brother.". The Torchic didn't want anyone to hurt its big brother but he was too weak to fight those big Pokemon. Tears streamed down its face just as they had on Cleffa's face not so long ago.

OOC: Don't forget that the Cleffa is still with the group. ^^ I'm not in control of her...However...
BIC:
Karen and Guapo were much too focused on their next attack on the Combuskin to even notice the Torchic right next to ‘big brother’. Though Bonito sure did, and was quick in getting back in the field to scoop up the tiny bird to protect him from harm. It didn’t matter if the Torchic put up a fight; they had a battle to finish.
“Finish it off with Fake Out.” Karen cheered, taking a couple of glances at Bonito and the tiny Torchic before suddenly turning solemn. Did that young fowl come all the way out to try and cheer his big brother up? And if those Combuskin were friends of that nasty Charmeleon, then that meant that the Cleffa knew the Torchic. GAH! Now it was all confusing! Best to just finish the battle now and ask questions later. After all, they were the ones that were attacked first.
Karen held the Cleffa in her arms with an air of uncertainty, they had worked hard in this battle, and she intended to finish it. But perhaps there was something she could do to help the fire Pokémon out. Placing the young pink Pokémon on the ground, she gathered up two regular potions for the Meditite and the remaining three for the Combuskin. She could only sigh, because now she was just running out of supplies. She did have her super potions, but that was for her own Pokémon for when they needed them.
Already she was by the Meditite's side with a sigh, spraying two potions on the Psychic type until they were both empty. It was true that she wanted a Meditite, but once again, she felt like it wasn't a good idea to just tug them away from their family and friends. Maybe she'd adopt one when she had the chance. Or something. It wasn't as if she oculd predict the future!

Torchic squealed in fright as the Hitmonlee grabbed him. He tried to wriggle out of the powerful grasp but he couldn't manage it. He felt sure that he was about to be put through the same torture as his brother.
Meanwhile, the Fake Out KOd Combusken and he fell to the ground. The Torchic shook its head sadly before noticing something. The trainer was doing something to his brother's friend Meditite. He couldn't see exactly what the human was doing but when she moved aside he saw that most of the wounds were gone.
Torchic blinked fearfully. Were they going to make his brother and his friends fight again? Hadn't they done enough? He simply couldn't think of these cruel thugs who had beat up his brother doing something kind. Tears continued to stream down his face.
Cleffa saw the Torchic and couldn't help but feel sorry for it. She had never done anything with Charmeleon's friends so she hadn't met Torchic before but she knew how hard it must be to watch his brother being beat up like this.

OOC: Levels...? Nah, its okay I'll do it myself. BIC: As soon as the battle was over, Bonito gently rested the tiny little Torchic on the ground; feeling satisfied that all was well for their special training in the Volcano. He wasn’t even close to feeling the need to leave however, despite anything that Karen might say. Guapo was more than pleased with himself, with a weak smile on his face as he spun around like a top once more. The habit was becoming somewhat addicting to him as he remembered something, stopping as soon as he could, he went straight for the Meditite with a sheepish glance over the wounds. <I wanted to thank you for helping us with our training. Though you didn’t mean to at first, it’s very appreciated.> He added, feeling a bit sorry that they had to fight until one had fainted. But they had acted in self defense, but at least they weren’t caught off guard for the whole thing. Just startled, that’s all. ’He’s really saying that crap? It’s not like we’ll run into them again, so who cares about their feelings?’ The Shadow Hitmonlee thought with a snort, crossing his arms so he could relax against the cool surface of the rocky wall behind him. The only thing that wasn’t hot in this boiling Volcano, thankfully it didn’t look like it was going to erupt anytime soon, but the danger was there. “Here ya are Combuskin, you should go back to your friend Torchic so he doesn’t worry. “ Karen smiled, trying her best to focus on the biggest wounds that the Combuskin had with the tiny potions in her backpack. Saving the empty bottles for later so she could use them as water bottles for later on. <So Cleffa, I thought you didn’t have any little friends here. Do you want to stay with the Torchic for now? I’m sure he could use a friend, and chances are, he’s better than ‘Big C’.> Bontio sent a more careless look at Cleffa, one of the only ways he knew to try not to scare off a little kid without seeming mean.
