Carlos had seen Spoink from time to time. On TV and around his general area. It took him a few moments to realize what was off, but when he did, he could see why the Spoink was looking a little down.
Raised to have some manners, Carlos couldn't leave this Spoink without hi pearl in good conscience. "Well... where did you last see it? We might find it by backtracking," suggested Carlos.

Pokemon encounter ! Spoink was heavily distracted, fretting around and turning his head every which way to search for the pearl he'd lost even as the trainer spoke. He only barely heard it. <O-oh. I don't even know, man. But I realized along the way that it was gone, yo. Poofed, like that. Man, you gotta help me. The party starts in half 'n hour..> Spouted the piglet, rubbing his hooves together.
<Yeah, yeah, backtrackin'. I'll take ya back to where it happened, so help me out.> Said Spoink, hurrying down the path where he'd last been. The sound of squawking could be heard from a distance.

The Spoink squeaked so fast, he could only awesome that the piglet was so desperate to help that he didn't want to wait. Why else would he proceed down the route at such a rapid pace and risk the attentions of hunters?
There seemed to be something else ahead. And it didn't sound happy. Hoping that the Spoink hadn't gotten itself in trouble, Carlos walked briskly down the route in pursuit of the curious piglet.

<Don't hurt me, bro! Don't hurt me!> The Spoink squealed, running around in circles with an angry Pidgey chasing after it. Ok, so maybe this had all been a misunderstanding, but it was an honest mistake. When he had rushed ahead, he thought he saw his pearl in a bird's nest. So when he went to investigate by jumping super high, the bird in it was so startled, the egg fell out of the tree and cracked.
<You killed my family! You idiot!> The Pidgey protested, obviously furious with the potential death in her family. It could've been a sister, or even a brother. But she really hoped it was a brother now, which would've been less of a loss to her. She resisted the urge to cry as she kicked up a Sand Attack at the Spoink, stopping him in his tracks as he tried to get the sand out of his eyes.
<You dolt! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!> She squawked, hissing and spitting as she prepared to strike at the injured Spoink. By god, she was going to murder the guy before her mother came back home. She charged in with a Tackle at the half-blind Spoink, eager for revenge.

Even though the Spoink had done something pretty terrible by cracking the egg that had apparently contained a Pidgey, he didn't deserve this, did he? Sending out the Pokeball containing Kay, he gave him a nod before ordering him to attack. Use Tail Whip and Astonish. Maybe if we scare the Pidgey, it'll leave."As the Kecleon wagged its tail tauntingly at the Pidgey before pulling his scariest face, sending waves of red light at the attacking Pidgey, Carlos yelled at the Spoink. "Hey! You have to fight too if you wanna survive!" ::kecleon:: Level 7 Used Tail Whip and Astonish.

Pidgey: (Defense -1) Unharmed. Uses Sand Attack on Kecleon.
<You. Stay out of this.> She hissed, catching the waggling tail at the last second. She had only just managed to Tackle the Spoink out of her way before she started hissing at the Kecleon. She heard the Spoink's injured cry from behind her and scoffed. She was nowhere close to being through with him yet. With puffy red eyes, she stared at the Astonish head on.
The red beams of light shot right at her body, at first frightening her, before realizing that nothing happened. She was fine. She was free to move and felt the same as before. She appeared a little confused about what the Kecleon did, before deciding that he was only an annoyance.
She raised her wings up to defend herself against the duo, kicking up a Sand Attack as a warning. It wouldn't hurt, and even if this wasn't in her knowledge, it would change the normal type's type. What an odd thing that would be, seeing if it changed color based on the type it was.

Kecleon turned a dull brown as his accuracy dropped. Damnit. This quite simply wasn't Crlos' lucky day. It seemed Ghost Type attacks would not work on flying types. It was frustrating, but certainly a lesson learned. "Alright, Tail Whip and... Scratch," decided Carlos. If the Pokemon was paralyzed, life would be considerably easier for the Spoink currently under attack, but Lick was Ghost Type, and therefore useless. Kecleon wagged his brown tail tauntingly, giving the Pidgey a cheeky wink, before rushing forward to scratch her. ::kecleon:: Kay used Tail Whip and Scratch.

<Not cool, yo!> The Spoink said this insistently as the Pidgey sprayed sand toward the Kecleon, at which time his skin turned a brown shade. <Hey, man, how'd you perform that neat lil' trick there, huh?> Try as hard as he might, the Spoink had never been able to change his body from the dull black color that it was. He'd prefer to be a cool color, like, uh, red! Yeah, red sounded good. Red was fiery and hot!
The Spoink wasn't a fighter, and though he tried to help by jumping around a lot to attempt distracting his opponent, it was clear that his tactic wasn't working. The Pidgey was furious with him, and planned to murder him after the battle was over, but she was much more concerned with the offending Kecleon and his trainer, at the moment. <He killed my future sibling!> she shrieked, gesturing wildly at the cracked egg lying on the ground. <They could have been the best bird on the route, and he KILLED them!>
Honestly, why was she the one being attacked? That Spoink deserved to die. All the same, this was a fight. She was going to fight. With another angry shriek, she rushed toward her opponent and attempted to Tackle him down.

Kay blinked quietly. >I'm sure it was an accident. Are you anyy better, killing something you don't need to kill?< he asked, an eyebrow raised as he dodged the Tackle, landing nimbly on his feet. ...Splash? Carlos facepalmed, before turning to Kay. "Scratch again." Kay rushed forward, claws outstretched in a slashing motion at the Pidgey's wing. It was cruel to intefere, but Carlos could never just sit back and watch. ::kecleon:: Kay used Scratch. [/B]

<If you don't like killing,> Pidgey shrieked, tears blinding her vision even after she recovered from the pain and shock of the Kecleon's Scratch attack - for it hadn't been her reason for upset in the first place, <then why are you defending HIM?> Jabbing her beak toward the Spoink in a fierce gesture, the phrase 'if looks could kill' would have been quite accurate in this situation. <He killed my sibling! I have to kill him!> Her mother was going to be so, so upset. She was supposed to be babysitting the nest, and she'd lost one of them! Mother had never done that!
The Spoink winced. <Hey, yo, I said I was sorry,> he muttered defensively, flinching when the Pidgey snapped her beak in his direction. He did feel kinda bad for killing her sibling, but it wasn't like he'd done it deliberately, and he sure couldn't take the action back now that it was already done. He might have tried helping some more, but flailing around hardly did anything, so he didn't even bother.
Pidgey, however, was a different story. Without any warning at all, she lunged toward her opponent and attempted to slam into him as hard as she could.

Pushed back by the Tackle, Kay narrowed his eyes at the Pidgey. It looked like there was no talking her round. Though the accident had been a nasty one, Carlos couldn't let the Pidgey kill Spoink. "Kay, Tail Whip and Scratch," ordered carlos, which was immediately obeyed as the Kecleon shook his tail at the Pidgey, before again aiming to scratch her stomach and chest with his long claws. ::kecleon:: Kay used Tail Whip and Scratch. The Pidgey was whacked back by the Scratch. Panting, she was getting tired. <I will NOT stand for this!> She cried and then shot some Stand towards the Pokemon with Sand-Attack. Then she went in for a Tackle, intending to slam into it with full force.
The Spoink bounced. <Yo! Cool down man!> He yelled at the Pidgey. The glare the Pidgey gave him clearly mean to back off now or be eaten. The Spoink lowered his ears. <K, totally fine with me man.>

Kecleon was hit in the eyes by the Sand, but dodged the Tackle, meanin his type once again reverted to Ground as his coat became a deep brown. He looked calmly at the bird as he waited for his next order. "Scratch," was the order, and Kecleon carried it out, aiming for the furious Pidgey's torso with his short, sharp claws. ::kecleon:: Kecleon used Scratch.

Pidgey: (Defense -3) Hit by Scratch. Uses Tackle.
With her defense even lower than before, the Pidgey was starting to feel her vulnerable body ache in anticipation of each of the Kecleon's attacks. That adorable tail whip distracted her in her emotional moment each time he used it, to her dismay. She cawed furiously, annoyed as the Scratch attack brought her down to the ground.
It wasn't just the claws that made that move powerful, it was the shove and muscle that went in it. With pained tweets, her wings trembled with the rest of her strength as she got back on her feet. She wobbled back and forth, clearly losing a lot of health. Any more tail whip/ scratch combos, and she was going down for sure.
She stretched her neck back and forth, getting ready for her last attack. With a low gurgle in her throat, she started running towards the Kecleon with her head outstretched, having no energy to fly towards her opponent. This was the best she could do at this point.

Blood blossomed on Kay's chest as the Pidgey's beak made contact, and both Pokemon and Carlos cringed in unison. "Alright Kay. Finish it off with Tail Whip and Scratch!" he yelled, causing the now normal coloured chameleon to rush towards his target, whipping his tail in a rapid and distracting circular motion before lashing out at the Pidgey's face with his claws outstretched and ready to tear into flesh. ::kecleon:: Kay used Tail Whip and Scratch, [/B]

This was her final straw. Beaten down by the nimiety of attacks so far, the young bird could hold out no longer. She'd been a brave and sentient warrior as she'd attempted to avenge the unnecessary death of her young siblings, but it had been to no avail. With a weakened squawk, she attempted to rush toward the Kecleon again, but collapsed halfway. There was no more battle left in her, and she fell unconscious.
Spoink, meanwhile, was delighted. Jumping up and down on his spring, he was very enthusiatic. <Yo, man, that was so cool!> he expressed happily, still bouncing. He felt bad and all, but now that the danger was past, he could celebrate. <You showed 'em, bam! Right in the kisser!> But there was still the issue of his absent pearl, and his mood deflated as he realized this. <So, uh, you still willing to help a brother out...?>

Leaving the Pidgey on the ground, not really wanting to take the last Pidgey in the family away from her mother, Carlos turned to the Spoink as he heard it squeak. "Hmm? What is it? Oh, your pearl."
>Is this place familiar?< asked Kay curiously, searching in bushes and shaded areas for that telltale glint of ppink.

The Spoink was thrown off by the question. <Familiar?> he echoed, sounding as if the word was completely alien to him. He knew what the word itself meant, but not being very bright, it took him several moments to understand the question. <Oh, like, uh, have I been here before? Yeah. Sure, man, sure I have.> Had he really?
Well, erm, no.
He'd sure been a lot of places, but he wasn't the most sentient of beings, and he had an awful memory. So while he assumed this bit of the forest was 'familiar', it really wasn't.
However, they were in luck. At that moment, a Clefairy ambled past, clutching a bright pink object to her chest. <... and love you, and care for you, and you'll be my very best friend!> The small pink Pokemon appeared to be... talking to it? At any rate, it was indefinitely the Spoink's pearl, but she seemed to think that it was some sort of companion.

"Hello." Carlos bent down to the Clefairy's height with a smile. "Sorry to disturb you, but that pearl belongs to my friend." He indicated the Spoink with a wave of his hand, before speaking again.
"If you give it to me, I can give you a rarer pearl. One meant for Pokemon. Called a Pokeball." Carlos wasn't sure whether it would work, but if the Clefairy thought the pearl was that precious, it might be gullible enough.

The Clefairy looked up with the Peal in hands. <Oh? What does this so called 'Pokeball' look like? Is it pretty?> She said with a stare. She had came across the peal in her moring walk, it didn't seem to belong to anyone.
The Spoink bounced behind the Trainer. <Hey, hurry it up would ya? I gotta life to live!> He yelled.
