Chris just examined the beautiful place around him, holding Dark Frost in his arms. He was now a professor, so he was in a little bit of shock at this point. <Hey, don't be so surprised> his Weavile tried to assure him. <I felt that you would do great as a professor the second I saw that Sakura girl. Don't ask me how I felt that, I just did.>

The air was warm, surprising for the time of year. Drawing in a deep breath, Professor Syl basked in the dull sunlight filtering from between the tall palm trees.
Golden eyes blinked, peering through the bushes at Chris. What was he doing here? "Hey. Kid." He took a few tentative steps forward, folding his arms across his chest. "How'd you get here?"
Impatiently the Professor awaited an answer.

Spinning around, Chris gave a sarcastic smile. "The Tooth Fairy brought me here" he laughed, sounding so much more confident. "How do you think?" Dark Frost leapt onto his shoulder, smiling. "I'm a Professor now, that's why I'm here."

"I must not have gotten the memo," Syl said slowly, eyes narrowing at Chris and his Weavile. Thick black boots made quick work of the thick underbrush, weaving his way through the bushes and tall grass to stand in front of the new Professor.
Syl had always been an impulsive man. It was often hard to tell what he was thinking, as his pale face almost always held a frown. "Well. I can only hope you don't get yourself killed."
A part of him held back - most of the other professors were high-ranking Team Death members. He didn't have the heart to tell the man about this. Instead, he hesitantly gave him a light pat on the shoulder.

"You know, this is probably one of the very few times I've ever thanked you" Chris admitted, letting out Psyblade to accompany him as well. "The first time was when we fought, as you were the one who taught me of my condition. The second was when you handed Arcane to me. And right now, with your little warning." Looking around, he asked "So, what is so special about this place anyway? All I've seen so far is this forest. And I do admit that it's nice, but that's probably not the reason I'm here."

It was hard for Syl not to let out a laugh. Masking it by quickly coughing and covering his mouth, he stared at Chris.
"Are you kidding? Legendary pokemon show up here. These islands are the only place in Cheyenne where they show up," he stammered, trying to regain his composure. Although he generally didn't give Chris a second thought, he didn't want to look like a fool in front of anyone.
"It's where I caught that Arceus," his tone held something unusual - the slightest hint of amusement. It was hard to tell, through the thick veil of sarcasm. As if to prove his point, the strangled cry of bird-pokemon rose above the trees. "There are pokemon everywhere."

"Okay, I admit it now" Chris started. "Since only recently becoming a professor, I don't really know all that much about this place. But it's nice to know that Arcane came from this island. I feel he'll be glad to set foot on home once more, especially since we have a broken Plate dilemma."

Syl blinked. "Broken plate? Which one...?"
Without waiting for an answer, he began to dig through his bag, pulling out all sorts of miscellaneous items. "I think I found something like that..."

Fishing the broken plate out of the bag, Chris showed it to Syl with a sigh. "It's the Icicle Plate. But what I don't get, is how it broke. Aren't the plates of Arceus supposed to be a part of his power and therefore, shouldn't be able to break?" he asked.

Syl shrugged. "I dunno. Maybe some other powerful force was able to shatter it. Like Rayquaza, or Mew. Or something."
It was a rare occasion when Syl had no answer. "Aha!" Pale hand withdrew an item; a light blue plate that matched the one Chris held. "Here we go..."
"POM!" A flash of purple dropped out of a tree, snatching the plate Syl held and making a mad dash for the protective cover of the forest. Shocked, his mouth hung open.
"What the hell was that."

"I don't know" Chris growled. "But it ain't getting away! Psyblade, you know what to do! Dark Frost go after it as well." The Weavile shot off in the direction of the purple flash, while Psyblade immediately extended his elbow blade in his usual fashion. Climbing onto the dual Psychic/Fighting type's back, Chris told Syl "You might want to keep up" before the trainer and Pokemon flew in the direction of Dark Frost. ((When I say flew, it means that Psyblade's elbow blade is retracting, pulling them towards it))

Without hesitation, Jin's pokeball was withdrawn and the Charizard was released. "Follow them," Syl commanded sternly, climbing onto the dragon's back. Jin nodded, shaking off his sleepiness with a quick yawn, and used his large black wings to lift into the air.
Aipom was slow, considering it held the broken plate. It peered over it's shoulder nervously. Damn, they were catching up! With a squeal, it dove into a bush to hide.

Having his Pokemon's elbow blade embedded in a nearby tree, Chris had to leap off and recall Psyblade before they crashed. Landing on his feet, Chris immediately gave the command to Dark Frost, knowing the hiding place. "Double Ice Punch!" he commanded. "From above as well!" The Weavile leapt into the tree branches and leapt high into the air, clawed fists building up with ice energy as he came down towards the hiding Aipom.

Aipom grinned. Abandoning the broken item momentarily, it dodged the two attacks. It may not have been powerful, but it was agile!
It lunged for the Weavile, first uttering a horrible screech before following up with fury swipes. Again and again it scratched at it's opponent, trying to score as many hits as it could.
It was then that Syl arrived. Golden eyes shifted from Weavile to Aipom to Chris, and back again. Sliding off Jin's back, he landed on the ground and recalled the Charizard. He would let Chris take care of this one.

"Dark Frost, use Fury Swipes to counter that Aipom's move!" Chris commanded, rushing over and snatching up the plate half while the Pokemon was distracted. Smiling, Dark Frost attacked, his Fury Swipes matching the Aipom's blow for blow. After the stalemate, Dark Frost launched a Faint Attack.

"Does it match?" Suddenly, Syl was behind Chris, peering over the boy's shoulder at the plate shard.
Aipom wrinkled up it's face. If it was going to have any sort of chance, it would have to get stronger in a hurry. It darted back into the bushes, contemplating it's options.

"I don't know. I haven't tried yet" Chris admitted. He then tried to put the two halves together.
Meanwhile, Dark Frost went after the Aipom, not actually attacking it. <Hey, why did you take that plate half?> he asked, purely out of curiosity. He didn't want to fight yet, not unless it was needed.

<Because it was shiny> it hissed. <And because that red-haired idiot was just holding it out so casually, like it meant nothing to him.>
It took a step backwards, away from the Weavile, and contemplated fleeing again.

<Maybe it wasn't important to the redhead, but it was important to my trainer> Dark Frost explained. <You see, he's trying to gather all 16 of those plates together so he can revive his parents. So please, don't try to take the plate again.>

Aipom's glare softened a bit. <Fine, do what you want. But I'm not sticking around.> Giving Weavile one last glance, it darted out of the bush and scaled a tree. It continued to watch the action from the safety of the branches.
Syl smirked. "At least the colors match. I found that thing forever ago. I just didn't really think it was too important. You're lucky I didn't throw it away like I was going to..."
