"Yeah, thank goodness" Chris laughed, finally managing to put the two halves together. "There, a perfect match. Arcane's going to be thrilled." Dark Frost quickly returned, kneeling to Chris.
<He got away> he stated simply.
"Ah, don't worry about it" Chris told the Weavile, smiling gently. "The plate's all that really matters."

A pale hand darted out to touch the completed plate. It was smooth, and slightly cool to the touch, sending a chill down Syl's spine. Tingly.
"Good work. Or something." Hell, he was bad at giving compliments. They always came out sounding forced, and robotic rather than genuine. Clearing his throat, he quickly changed the subject. "So what pokemon are you here for, anyway."

Examining the now completed plate, Chris gave a smile and handed it to Dark Frost. "Make sure Arcane gets that" he instructed, turning back to Syl. "Well, to be honest...I really came here to explore. I didn't know about the legendaries."

He nodded, biting his bottom lip. "I bet. Nobody just comes here for the hell of it, kid. You're either really that clueless, or lying. And they're both about as bad..."
He gave Chris another pat on the shoulder, before taking a few steps into the bushes. "Come on."

"It's not my fault" Chris complained, following Syl. Dark Frost quickly followed, slipping the plate into Chris' bag. "Nobody tells me nothing" he complained.

((omfg hot fuzz. that was such a great movie.))
"Well you should really pay more attention," he snapped, quickening his pace. Ignoring the pain of the bushes whipping at his legs, he pressed onwards. "You'll never see anything just standing around like that."
Sometimes it was hard to tell if he was kidding or not.

"Alright already" Chris growled, releasing Arcane. "Geez, you really need to lighten up. Although, that should be happening soon." He gave off a sly smile as he leapt onto Arcane, remembering that time he had seen Syl and Kalina together at the manor. He had immediately known the two were in love from the very moment he saw them.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean," He repressed the urge to yell. Old habits die hard. Just how much had Chris seen, anyways? Maybe Saki had broadcast his fuckfest with Kalina all over Cheyenne... that wouldn't be unlike her.
"I'm still the same tough cookie I've always been." Even as he said it, he knew it wasn't true.

"Ah Syl, you can keep up the act all you want" Chris laughed. "But eventually it will become obvious to everyone. I could tell from the moment I saw you two, that you were in love with her. You're so much different than the first time I met you. In fact, it's funny just to see you try to hide it." He let off another smile as he said "Oh, and I could also tell something else too. I know that Kalina isn't human. It's obvious to see that, just by looking at her."

He stiffened, letting out a little laugh. "I.. I don't know what you're talking about. Sorry."
It was easier to brush it off and lie, than to admit that he was in love. Especially to somebody other than Kalina. Drawing in a deep breath, he paused to look around momentarily, before suddenly darting left. "It's this way."

Asking Arcane to follow, Chris just smiled. He told himself that he would never reveal Kalina's secret, no matter what. "Hey Syl, I have a question" he stated suddenly. "What's the difference between a king and his horse? And I don't mean kiddy stuff like 'one is a human while the other is an animal' or 'one has four legs and the other has two'. If they both had the same form, ability and power, what divides them?" Of course, he knew the answer, but he was curious to see if Syl knew.

The professor grumbled, stopping suddenly and whirling around to face Chris. "What's with all of the questions," he snapped, folding his arms across his chest. A blank look washed over his face as he gave the question a bit of thought.
"I... I don't know." It was rare when he admitted defeat, and he instantly regretted it.

"Well, it's actually a rather interesting answer" Chris admitted. "Instinct. That's what separates the king and his horse. The instinct to battle. Anyway, how much further are we going to have to go?" Realising he asked another question, he immediately turned his attention to Arcane and whispered "Don't think for one second that you and I are like the horse and king respectively. If anything, it's the other way around." Arcane seemed really shocked, but at the same time, thankful for that admittance.

Syl resisted the urge to laugh. "Wow, you really are clueless, aren't you. Ahaha, it's okay. That's why I like you. It's just a bit further this way..."
He began to walk again, faster and faster until he was almost running. The trees began to thin out, becoming more and more sparse. Sounds of running water soothed the red-heads nerves a bit, as he slowed down.
"Here," he pointed. A vast oasis complete with a waterfall lay before them. A variety of aquatic and grass pokemon played happily on the shores of the stream, neglecting to notice the humans. "I've seen legendary pokemon here."

Chris just stared in awe at the beauty of the environment. Dark Frost, on the other hand, had begun to sit on Chris' head, examining the Pokemon.
<Legendary Pokemon. They would make good battles> he stated, trying to look out for them.
"Dark Frost, hush" Chris said sternly. "We're not here to fight."

Syl shrugged. "Well. You might be here for awhile, if you're looking for legends." He moved forward, finding a nicely shaped rock and sitting down on it.
A Weepinbell crept up behind Chris, extending it's vines and twisting them around the trainer's legs. Syl snickered.
"Looks like it thinks you're food."

Immediately spotting the Weepinbell, Dark Frost leapt down in between the Pokemon and his trainer. <My trainer is not your food> he told it. <Now could you please go?>

It made a gurgling sound, winding itself tighter and tighter around the trainer's leg. It lashed at the Weavile with a thorny vine, protecting itself and it's newfound prey from harm.
<I'm not going anywhere> it said sharply.

<I beg to differ> Dark Frost stated, dodging the vine before charging in with an Ice Punch/Faint Attack combo. Chris meanwhile, was trying to pull his leg out of the Pokemon's grip. "Let me go!" he demanded, half tempted to summon another Pokemon to help free him.

It's mouth dripped with acid, hurling some at Weavile and some at Chris. It continued to work on the trainer's leg, wrapping as tight as it could, and spreading a bit more acid to help digest it.
