Though Claribel happened upon this particular region just recently, she didn't waste time by gazing like an awestruck tourist. She was here for one thing and one thing only, to follow through with her father's final wish for her. She didn't pay much thought to the confused looks she receives as she asked for directions to obtain a starter. Sure she was twenty years old, an age many would see as unfitting for someone just starting off, but everyone had to start sometime even if that was many years later than most.
She didn't care much for the lab, seeing as they probably didn't have what she desired in the first place, and chose the alternative instead. The Ranger Station, appearing more like a circus with the large tent rather than what she thought of a station, loomed on the horizon. It was a risky move to chose this path as the first step to becoming a world-renowned trainer or in Claribel's case, a coordinator, seeing that there was always the chance of getting a worthless Pokémon which would prove to be more of an obstacle to strengthen instead of a major help.
As she approached the tent, the young woman was confused as to how she should gain the attention of the Rangers inside. Should she politely say hello or just barge right in? What about knocking or rather, patting, on the tent flap? She decided to be kind for once and went with the patient greeting. "Hello?" she called out in the calmest way she could.

The tent was massive, comparatively, a circus tent like structure. The kind of place a hello might've been missed, at least if an Exploud wasn't on duty. As the young woman called out her greeting, the massive purple beast slowly stomped forward, turning from the young lady when he could see her, and calling out “Ploud! Exeexexploud!” in to somewhere deeper in the tent. The beast stood there in silence after that, and a man with cotton candy colored hair that was in dreadlocks of all things; came rushing forward.
He looked like he was really hyper, perhaps he had drunk too much lemonade or soda pop. Well, he didn't so much look like he was hyper as much as his every movement screamed it as he rocketed forward with leaps, rolls, swirls, and all sorts of really unnecessary movements. The Exploud face-palmed, or the closest thing it could to that as its partner came forward. But Johnny continued, landing in front of the purple beast and the young lady in a handstand that almost dragged his dreadlocks against the ground and into the dirt.
“Heyheyheyheyheya mmmmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssss!” He almost sang. “Welcome to the Pokémon Rangers Station, I'm Johnny and that purple mass there is Morrison! He's my Partner and we're here to help you with whatever you need! What do you need, a Pokémon? Are you here to become a trainer? What kind of Pokémon do you like? Morrison will you go start looking for a Pokémon? That Gyrados Rage Energy Soda was good...” He fell over as the blood rushed to his head, and his Pokémon walked out of the tent, stepping over him by bare centimeters.

She wasn't sure if she should feel amused or violated by the odd spectacle. This region was proving to be far from where she came from. So far, in fact, that Claribel thought this to be a joke until he mentioned the word pokemon. "Uhh hmmm," she started. She was at a total loss for words. How does she respond to this, this, clown? Was that what he was? The ranger looked the part of one complete with oddly colored hair and how he somehow managed to land all the tricks he performed. He sure seemed hyped up on something, whether it actually be the Gyrados Rage Energy Soda or some other form of sugar-overload.
"It's nice to, um, meet you," she said. "Actually, I'm hoping to become a coordinator, but that's a big irrelevant at the moment." She moved out of the way of his Exploud though the distance between them was quite far to begin with. She wasn't fond of small talk since she was never that well at actually carrying on a conversation with another person. "Well, I don't think it really matters what kind I like seeing as it could take days to find one of my preference. However, for the sake of the conversation, I'm fond of canine pokemon like Growlithe or Poochyena and bird pokemon like Spearow or Skamory," she answered. "I will gladly accept any pokemon that can put up some sort of fight without being completely useless, though many peoples views on what is useless or not varies from mine."

The very sizable Exploud moved with a speed that his heavy stature would not make it seem like he could move, having disappeared from sight after a few moments of his travel. His equally sizable Human Partner was twitching as he stood there and listened to the young lady, listening to her words without a peep. The figure quickly scratched his head as she continued, because Johnny's head itched so very much all of a sudden, like his brain was fleeing from the somewhat harsh tone that the girl had. He itched and itched and itched for a moment, hand through his natural hair color dreadlocks for a good two minutes, before slouching forward. The sugar rush and the caffeine had worn off. His happy-go-lucky side was somewhat disappeared, as he looked intently at the girl. Coordinator, huh? Liked canids and bird Pokemon that were almost exclusively predators or had a highly predatory nature? So very formal, too, for someone that was coming to ask for help and to get her first Pokemon. Johnny had a bad feeling about all this, but reached into his Pokemon Ranger's Pouch, at his hip, and pulled out a cardboard paper package, which he tossed towards the girl. Shaku's Claribel Throne gains:Five [5] Pokeballs Three [3] Potions One [1] Pokedex “You seem to like a lot of predatory Pokemon... and yeah, any Pokemon can stand on it's own if it's got a good trainer...” He would explain the statement, but perhaps he didn't need to. In the distance his friend Jackson's Magikarp Percy was fighting an Onix in what seemed to be a wrestling match, and winning. Morrison was not back from his unspoken task, finding this girl a Pokemon, yet.

It was a good thing she was a patient person, however, she would of liked it if she was already on her way. She couldn't really complain much though. She did choose the Ranger Station knowing quite well that this was the most natural of ways to get a starter. It wasn't like wild Pokémon lined up to be stolen from their home and carried off under the care of a complete stranger.
"Predatory Pokémon are best at fighting to th-" she said while situating the package in her arms, cutting herself off mid sentence. If she spread word about what she actually came here to do, her whole journey would be pointless and she would most likely find herself behind bars just like her father. "Fighting to the top," she managed to piece together sloppily in hopes of hiding her blunder. "They hold that natural aggression built into them but also come off as graceful Pokémon at the same time."
"It is true what you say, but being a good trainer is not as easy as it sounds for beginners," she replied. Claribel was proud of herself for being able to last this long, though she found it hard not to speak about her views and beliefs seeing that they were the only things she could talk about without a second thought. Though, this Ranger would be considered an "official" here right? He would turn her in or even deny her gaining a starter if he knew, wouldn't he? Even if she wasn't sure, Claribel wasn't about to let her father down and prayed that she wouldn't slip up any time soon.

The Cotton-Candy haired Ranger gave a shrug at the girl's response, taking note of her actions and feeling that something was amiss, but not sure what, and not interested in delving deeply to find out. “You say that, but consider how much easier it is for a Pokemon that's species has evolved predatory to fight to the top. Those that are best at fighting to the top are the underdogs.” His eyes turned from the girl, rather abruptly, even rudely, as he watched the grass for his own Pokemon. Moments of steely silence passed, and then the sizable Purple Pokemon made it's appearance, holding in it's hand a slumbering [very cutely] little Pokemon that looked for all intents and purposes to basically be a little pinecone and nothing more.
“Trainers have to grow before they can expect their Pokemon to grow. If you can't be a good trainer, you're just dead weight to your Pokemon.” The Pokemon Ranger reached into his Ranger's Uniform, and pulled out a Greatball from the dark and hidden places which were inside of it, tossing it to the girl.
“A Pineco will be a fine Pokemon for you, it's already asleep, so throw that Greatball and catch it.”

She didn't say much in response to what the ranger said, focusing more on what was to be her starter. She gave an absentminded shrug at his words and tried to spot his own pokemon in the distance. Perhaps it would be a Vulpix or even a Taillow. Anything with claws, teeth, or a mixture of both would suffice. However, what caught her eye was far from what she expected.
"Pineco," she simply said. A Pineco. Sure, it wasn't one she would readily catch in the wild unless it displayed a certain physical strength to it but she didn't have much choice. Either she accepted it or she would have to leave. She sighed, fumbling to catch the great ball thrown to her. "Might as well make it work," Claribel mumbled to herself. She threw the ball, aiming for the little cone held by the Exploud, and waited for the result. Since it was a sleep, she had a much greater chance of catching it though if if failed, she was sure another chance would be waiting for her.
Although, the more she thought about it, the better it was as her starter. It's hard shell would make it difficult to bite through but its speed must be quite low. She would have to rely on its natural defense instead of outright agility. And it wasn't like she'd never get the chance to catch a pokemon of her preference.

The blue and red Pokemon capturing device swirled through the air after Claribel threw it, spiraling slightly as it cut through the air, and then landing against the Exploud's paw, engulfing the Pinecone Pokemon which it held. The ball rolled away after swallowing up the Pinecone, rocking back and forth, back and forth. Then a click and ding could be heard. Pineco had been caught! ::Pineco:: Level: 5 Moves: Tackle, Protect Gender: Male Personality: ??, ??, ??, Likes to Sleep, ??, ??. [You get to decide what are in the ??'s.]

She smiled faintly as she went to pick the ball up. She held it firmly in her hand, proud that she actually got her first pokemon. Claribel turned to Johnny and nodded in thanks. "I greatly appreciate you helping me," she said. She clipped the Pineco's pokeball to her belt with one hand while stuffing the starter package in one of the larger inside pockets of her trench coat.
Claribel looked at the ranger once more, this time with a colder, more serious expression. "There is a reason the predators are on the top of the food chain," she said in response to his earlier statement. "This is because they are successful at surviving, more so than a little prey item." She started to walk off towards the first route, replying to his other statement while she did so, "The same can be applied to pokemon as well. If they can't be a useful pokemon, they are just dead weight to their trainer." Of course, she was merely repeating the words her father drilled into her brain at a young age. And with that final sentence, she was off to Route One.
