[[Internal bleeding? holy bag of apples, batman.]] As much as Susumu would've loved to make Geodude use a Defense Curl against the quick attack, the move came at him much too fast for him to even think of curling up. That cocky rock had been cheering silently for making such a strong blow the last turn, that he didn't think the Starly would retaliate so quickly. 'What an idiot...well, no. That would make me an idiot too for not preparing.' He sighed, figuring that this wasn't something he would win. On the bright side, Ken's battle with the avian was going well. Sure, that Quick Attack pushed him back a little, but he looked tough. Normal type moves did practically nothing against him, thank goodness. "Ken, let's see another Mega Punch." He looked at the weakening Starly, wondering how much its body could take. When a rock was ramming into it and punching it so often, and at that size, it certainly wasn't doing the bird any good. If it went on too long, he knew that he would probably feel guilty. Ken gave a tired smile as he swung another heavy punch at the Starly before it flew out of his reach. |Level 6| Mega Punch ::modcoin::

Starly was slowing down, and in his attempt to escape from the Mega Punch, he only succeeded in getting hit in the back instead. With a chirrup of agony, he was slammed onto the ground, making his soft, feathery body ache even more. Struggling to his feet, he no longer had the energy for a Quick Attack, so he decided to stick to the typical Tackle attack. If it hit the Geodude, it was worth it. With a loud cheep, he zoomed towards the Rock type with all the energy he could muster, like a little homing missile. ::starly:: Starly used Tackle.

"I think we're getting somewhere. Oy, Ken. Defense Curl." He called, trying hard not to appear too excited about beating a small bird. Yeah, overall it wasn't that impressive, but it was still fun to watch. His strong, level 6 Geodude had done very well for his first Wild Pokémon battle. The Geodude snickered as he tucked his head under his arms once more, gaining a thin layer of armor that ended up doubling his defense. He had used the move earlier already, so having double defense made sense. The Tackle hit him head on, but it hardly did anything to him. Now, before the Starly could get away from him after that close range move, he had to strike. Susumu caught on as well, and jumped to the command. "Mega Punch!"Ken charged forward at the agile Starly, swinging his fist wildly despite how cute it was. It was true that his defense was doubled, but his attack power was cut in half. Those silly growls, making him such a softie. Ah well, as long as he won in the end. |Level 6| Defense Curl + Mega Punch

NOTES; N/A MUSE; N/A TAGS; spirit, mods POKEMON; Starly (M)
The poor Starly was trying his best, but it was impossible to beat a Pokemon who was hard as rocks when you didn't know enough damaging moves. His normal-type attacks hardly made a mark, from what he could see. But the little bird was certainly brave, not even giving up after it started to seem hopeless. Trying to deter the Geodude from him, Starly gave a cute little Growl, which was of course more of a cheep, coming from a bird Pokemon like himself.
Unfortunately, he couldn't dodge the Mega Punch, and his body was blasted backward from the force of the attack. <Y-You're tough,> he commented, then collapsed against the ground. His wings were slumped, and the little bird closed his eyes, just wanting the battle to be over. That Geodude had most definitely won.

Seeing the Starly defeated on the ground, Susumu and Ken both turned to each other with silly grins on their faces. Now that was a battle well done. Now, what to do about this Starly? He felt bad about leaving it here, and wondered if he should try to catch it. Ken was already at its side, prodding at it to wake up. Seeing that a little more effort was involved, though he wasn’t willing to hurt the thing more than he was, he gently picked up the Starly and hid it away within the foliage. The youth wanted to stop Ken because he was interested in catching it, but the look from the Geodude stopped him. ”…You’re right. It was too young.” He agreed with a solemn nod, not wanting to be responsible for such a young creature. It most likely had a family out here too, and to steal it away from that kind of life didn’t feel right to him. Maybe it was the Pikachu in him that was making him this sensitive, but he couldn’t help but sympathize. ”Michi, Ken, return.” He recalled both of the Pokemon into their Pokeballs, knowing that they deserved the rest while he lazed about the route. It was more of a sightseeing thing really; the path was long gone, and he was no longer curious about returning to the city. Heck, he was already there. Might as well explore the route some more. ::ledyba:: Pokemon encounter ! A buzzing ladybug was flying gracefully through the air, doing a few loops for the heck of it as she traveled through the air by beating wings. The day was beautiful, the breeze that was carrying the insect slight and cool. She shivered with delight.
It wasn't long before she came upon a trainer that seemed to be looking around at the scenery, appreciating it as much as pokemon did. It was their home, after all; but humans usually didn't give a care for nature. It was quite the rare sight to see someone walking along route one just to appreciate life.
<It's beautiful, isn't it?> Cheeped the little bug, floating downward to rest uninvited on the Pikamorph's shoulder. Mimicing his movements, she looked around and gazed appreciatively at the trees blowing in the wind, leaves picking up off of the ground and twirling as if they were dancing to a silent melody.

There was a buzzing sound that was not in tune with the rest of the background scenery, and Susumu visibly flinched as he stopped walking. What was over there? A bee? God, how he hated those damn things. They always chased after him for no apparent reason, and if you killed one, then the rest of the swarm were bound to come after you. As soon as he saw a flicker of red in the sky, he relaxed. It was only a giant ladybug, wasn’t it? Nothing to worry about. He continued to walk along the path without thinking much of the buzzing sound until it was literally right next to his ear. Yelping in surprise, the trainer tried to shake whatever it was off of his shoulder until he got a good look at what was on him. ”Ah? You’re not a Beedrill.” He stated, starting to calm down as he stared into those giant, beady eyes. It was a Pokemon though, and not some mutant of the bug world. Taking out his Pokedex to give the creature a brief scan, the data for the Pokemon was revealed to him. Ledyba, huh? Not one of the most creative species names out there, but it wasn’t one that he was likely to forget. ”What are you doing out here anyways, little guy?” He asked in a gentle voice, feeling a bit bad about his little scare earlier. The rule was: if it buzzed in your ear, it’s a bee and at all costs you must get it off before it killed you. Everyone knew that, unless they were actually stung and died. Of course he was thinking this in jest, but all in all, it was not a pleasant surprise.

The Ledyba squeaked in shock as she was thrown off the man's shoulder, flapping her thin wings to get airborne again. Still, she didn't take offense. If a mini human had perched on her back, she wouldn't be pleased either. As the Pokedex was pointed at her, she buzzed around it curiously, touching it with four of her six legs before tilting her head to one side and bouncing back in shock, buzzing as the red thing spoke with a human voice. But it didn't seem to be a threat. >Beedrill? Oh no. Oh no no no. Horrid things. They sting you if they see you, then they sting you if they don't. They sting you until their butts hurt, and then they sting you for making their butts hurt!< exclaimed Ledyba, shaking her head in distaste.

The Ledyba was rambling about something, but Susumu had no idea what he was talking about. If he had to guess, it was something about his Beedrill comment. If not that, then it was talking about why it was over here. Both possibilities made him feel bad because he couldn’t contribute to the conversation without the Ledyba thinking that he was ignoring its statements. It was cute though, the way it was being all friendly with him. The thought of catching it came to mind, since he had never seen such a tame Wild Pokemon before, but he wasn’t sure what he would do with it without feeling slightly guilty. Instead, he peacefully continued further in the route, thinking about what he should say to the Pokemon. ”It’s actually really nice out today. I bet you won’t be happy when Winter comes.” He commented, trying to visualize the route covered in snow. Come to think of it, even if he was in Cheyenne for about a year now, he hadn’t actually done any training in the Winter. This would probably be his first time seeing snow on the ground in the Primier Route unless he did some speed training. ”I’m actually looking for Wild Pokemon to battle with. You seem too nice to battle, so I’d feel bad. Know any tough guys around here?” Susumu looked right at the Ledyba, not intending to offend it by any means, but it looked too cute to fight against. The Starly was young, and this one was simply friendly. Ugh. Decisions decisions.

::ledyba:: Pokemon encounter ! The young ladybug inclined her head, agreeing with his remark about winter. <Indeed. I've learned to always appreciate life when it's this comforting.> She replied with a small smile.
He mentioned that he was looking for pokemon to battle. <Oh, dear me. I do recall having been attacked by a nasty little gang of Nidorans just the other day. 'Twas dreadful, absolutely dreadful.> She said, shaking her head in a doleful way. <I beat them off easily, of course, all four of them, but who knows what they're up to now?> Continued the insect, her attitude meek as she recalled her defeat of them. It turned out the little bug had some muscle on her.
<Well. If you'd like, I'll lead you to where they attacked me,> She offered, beating her wings to circle aerially around the human she was conversing with.

Susumu looked at the Ledyba in interest when she flew into the air at the mention of ‘tough Pokemon’, and he assumed that there have been some problem Pokemon in the area. He grinned; glad to be of service to such a nice Pokemon. As long as he got some training done in the end, then everything worked out. His amber shaded eyes traced the path of the excited Ledyba, who seemed to love flying as much as a bird would. He wasn’t all that keen on the idea of flying, knowing he’d get motion sickness, but it was a pretty thing to watch. Susumu got the idea to let out one of his Pokemon ahead of time, just in case they were attacked on the way to meeting these strangers. ”I guess we got a plan then, Ledyba. Hey Michi, come on out.” He called, tossing his Pokeball in front of him. The ball ricocheted off of the ground and into the air, popping open and releasing a Chinchou from its constraints. The strange looking fish merely stood unevenly on the ground, not having much of an advantage on the land. Knowing this, he picked up the Chinchou with an affectionate gaze at him, before looking back at the Ledyba. ”This is Ledyba, Michi. It wants us to help it out. Can you take us there, Ledyba?” He asked, ready to follow the Ledyba as soon as it told them to. Michi merely bobbed his long glowing antennas up and down, too shy and soft-spoken to speak to a complete stranger. He understood the situation enough to agree with the plan though, ::chinchou:: |Level 7|

::nidoranm:: ::teddiursa:: Pokemon encounter ! Ledyba's face brightened when the trainer agreed to help, and became interested when she saw the Pokémon emerge from his pokeball. The fishy thing was like nothing she'd ever seen before, that was for sure. <Hello there.> She greeted, winking in a friendly manner at the shy Chinchou.
<I will.> Responded the ladybug pokemon, ascending a bit higher into the air to heighten her view and flying at a slow enough speed so that the human could follow after her.
A few pidgeys attempted to bother the bug on the way, but the powerful Ledyba easily fought off the weak birds. It was clear she was one of the stronger Pokémon in route one, an insect who had gone through much peril to have obtained the strength she had.
Finally they came to a clearing, at which there seemed to be a situation. A few boulders were scattered round, and next to one of them stood two pokemon; a male Nidoran and his victim, a Teddiursa. It seemed the horned Pokémon was holding something the little bear wanted - a honeycomb, packed and dripping with the sweet, viscous liquid.
<That's mine!> Squealed the small bear. <Give it back!> He was jumping to snatch it out of the Nidoran's paws, but he was taller than the little bear. The bully gave a laugh. <You can have it if you beat mee! Haha.> He taunted.
The experienced Ladyba looked upon the situation, then directed her eyes toward the human, looking to him to see what he was planning.

Susumu watched in awe as the Ledyba beat up every small bird that came her way, not expecting such power from such a friendly Pokemon. He had underestimated her and felt bad about it, but he still wasn’t willing to catch her. Something was pleasing about seeing the prey beat up the predator for once, and even Michi was watching up with interest, wanting to join her in these battles so she wouldn’t be tired out. She was the one asking them for help, right? Then why make such an effort? The duo silently pondered similar thoughts, cautiously looking at the scenery around them in case something came up to attack them on the ground level. Never knew when one was about to walk in poison ivy, or when one was about to step on someone’s Oran Berry. <H-hey. That poor guy.> The Chinchou whispered once they witnessed the bullying Nidoran hiding the Teddiursa’s precious prize. Not that the fish knew what it was like to be teased like that, but it made him feel like crying for the sake of the Teddiursa’s feelings. All it wanted was its honey comb, and this Nidoran had to be a jerk about it. Since they haven’t appeared to be noticed yet, Susumu gently rested the fish on the ground, watching the scene with interest. Yes, he understood what was going on. The purple thing was obviously the bad guy. He switched his Pokedex on and swiftly pressed the ‘mute’ button, and very stealthily scanned the Pokemon. Once the data was received, the information went onto the screen. ’Nidoran, a Poison type, huh? Don’t have any of those…’ He thought to himself, wondering which moves would be best on him. He thought about the Chinchou’s list of attacks and finally settled on one that wouldn’t hurt the Teddiursa. ”Michi, use Thunder Wave.” He whispered, not wanting to ruin the element of surprise. Michi nodded his head in agreement and climbed onto one of the boulders, showing off his fishie might. Gathering up an extremely weak jolt of electricity, he shot it in a straight line towards the Nidoran.

Nidoran's butt was singed by the electrical jolt, and he leaped into the air, squealing in pain. The honeycomb flew out of his paws, and Teddiursa gasped as he ran through several bushes and trees, jumped up, and grabbed it like a pro, celebrating with a little dance, before turning to look at the Trainer and her Chinchou. >Oh thank you. Thank you so much!< he exclaimed, before darting into the woods in an attempt to get away from the vicious Nidoran. ::teddiursa:: Teddiursa is leaving. Interfere? Meanwhile, the pain from the weak jolt of electricity had faded from the Nidoran's pink rear, and he turned around to glare at the Chinchou. >How dare you! That was a natural occurrence and you got in my way. I'm gonna take my payment outta your fishy hide!<Threat completed, the Nidoran's horn began to glow with a bright light as he ran towards the Pokemon who had attacked him, imagining how good it would feel to pound it into the dust. >Look out!< yelled Ledyba. ::ledyba:: Nidoran used Leer and Peck.

Something about the Nidoran’s tone irked Susumu, even though he wasn’t able to understand him. It was true that he was injected with some Pikachu DNA as some fucked up experiment, and for all he knew, he was probably being watched by some creepy scientists, but he lacked any of a Pokemorph’s mystical abilities. No understanding, no weird static electricity powers, no tail or ears, so it was practically nothing. Sometimes he even questioned whether his kidnapping even happened, or if it was all just a crazy dream. He shook his head in annoyance, trying to rid himself of these off topic thoughts. Michi remained silent as he received the Leer attack head on, not afraid to back down to some punk Nidoran. Susumu cursed for zoning out, knowing that his full attention on Michi was needed. ”You can take it, Michi.” Ok, actually he only said that because it was impossible for the fish to dodge. If he was in water, it was a different story. The Chinchou stared at the glowing horn on the Nidoran’s body and decided that taking the attack wasn’t on his to do list. The only thing he tried to do was hop off of the boulder he was on, and right over the Nidoran’s charging body. If the poison type was clumsy and stupid enough, he would’ve crashed right into it. Neither trainer nor Pokémon were interested in the Teddiursa after they rescued its meal, so they simply let it be. To do anything else would've been just as bad as the Nidoran's actions, and there was no reason to be selfish. ::chinchou:: |Level 7|

The Teddiursa gave the Trainer a bow, clutching his sticky honeycomb to his chest. <Again. Thankyou, Trainer.> He said in a small voice, giving the Ledyba a little wave before bounding off into the brush. The sooner he got away, the sooner he could enjoy his meal.
The Nidoran saw the Chinchou move; but it was too late. He collided straight on with the boulder, feeling a sudden surge of pain shoot through his body at the contact. He stood, dazed for a moment, teetering this way and that. Goddamn Chinchou!
It took him a good moment or two to regain enough balance to focus. He had to win this now. His body throbbed and if he didn't score a hit and finish this in one, the theft of the honeycomb and this whole ordeal would have been for nothing.
He charged forwards again, although this time his path was wobbly from the aftereffects of colliding with the rock. The Ledyba was pretty impressed by Michi's way of thinking and she fluttered nearby, observing the water type and his trainer.

”That worked…better than expected.” Susumu stared at the wobbly Nidoran, who probably got a good deal of damage from running head first into a rock. Having done something similar to that in the past, except it was during a game of football, he ended up breaking his collarbone from the collision. He sighed at the memory, of course disappointed and embarrassed by it, but it only increased the wonder of Pokemon. They had some pretty durable bodies, and it made sense that they liked to battle so much. It was an athletic kind of thing for them, plus, he couldn’t imagine any other sports they would know. Not like there would be Rattata out here playing baseball. The Peck attack was like a drunken archer aiming at the bulls-eye, where it was somewhat on target, but it wouldn’t hit any weak spots. The Chinchou, not hearing any better ideas from his trainer, decided to take the attack as a test of his opponent’s strength. Some electricity built up around his body from the Peck, reducing its damage. It must’ve been a natural resistance type thing, where flying type moves were halved against electric types. Michi didn’t fully understand the details, but found the electricity around him to be of great comfort. ”Alright, let’s get it with Shock Wave.” Susumu announced, a bit excited to see this new move in action. According to the description of the TM, it was ‘Unavoidable’, but he wasn’t sure how that was possible. The Chinchou seemed excited though, so he put his faith in Michi. The Chinchou jumped into the air, electricity building until he landed onto the ground, sending long, dangerous streaks of electricity all over the place. Susumu gaped at the move, having to duck for cover so he wouldn’t be hit by the attack. ::chinchou:: |Level 7| Hit by Peck. Used Shockwave

The Nidoran felt pretty cocky with his hit, his opponent was obviously not very smart if it couldn't dodge. He however didn't even think about the possibility of the Chinchou wanting to take the attack to test him. No, that would require using his brain which was still hazy from the crash into boulder.
Gazing at the water type, the male waited, trying to take this time to prepare for a quick dodge and counter. It wasn't however expecting what happened next. The Pokémon before him just sent fucking electricity bolts everywhere. He mean, Arceus proscribe being able to dodge this attack. What a crappy day.
Pushing himself back to his feet after the attack, the purple Nidoran shook it's head, giving an intense glare at the fish out of water before him. A leer. For now, it would be all it would do. It would wait calmly like it was before. Dodge and quick counter.
uses leer.

”Ay. Ledyba. What do you think it’s doing?” He whispered over to the bug type, who wasn’t that far off from him, watching the scene. The Nidoran was only standing there with eyes glowing at his Chinchou, making the electric type stare back at it with a miffed expression. Michi even looked a little frightened from the attack, which made the Pokemorph nervous. Something wasn’t right about the way it wasn’t attacking; though he could credit that to it being dazed and confused from running into a rock, but still. Something screamed that it wasn’t right. <I-I’m not scared.> The Chinchou grunted, pouting at the Nidoran as it continued to stare at him. He tried to go for that silent and cool approach, but his defenses kept dropping all around him. More and more he was dreading whatever attacks the Nidoran was about to throw at him, and he wasn’t about to let that happen. He glanced over at Susumu, who was currently hiding behind a boulder waving at him, and nearly fell to the ground anime style. ”Hehe…yeah. Uh.” Susumu coughed, knowing he had to give the Chinchou some direction; otherwise he would be too scared to move. He flipped open his Pokedex and went through Michi’s attacks, and looked at the two that were the safest. Long distance attacks seemed to suit the situation perfectly. ”Let Bubbles go through the air. Then Thunder Wave right through them.” He commanded, not fully sure what this would look like. Michi was quick to obey however, and sent a stream of soapy looking bubbles at the Nidoran. Some glistened with an odd mix of purple and pink, while others had a mix of blue and green, all credited to the sun that shone right through them. Then the Thunder Wave came next, popping some of the bubbles while it went through the spaces, eager to land on the Nidoran’s horn like it was attracted to a lightning rod. If this worked, the Nidoran would be pretty slow from the effects of both moves. |Level 7| Uses Thunder Wave + Bubble Defense is now -2!

::nidoranm:: Pokemon encounter ! Ledyba tilted her head as the trainer asked her the question, then gave her observations. <Well, I may be wrong, but he seems to be planning to take advantage of your attacks.> She replied, then paused for a moment. <I've seen this tactic used often. Pokemon think they have an edge using it, but it's easily countered.> Continued the Ledyba, giving no more explanation than that.
The Nidoran had been prepared for the Bubbles, or so he thought, as they erupted from the fish's opening. He jumped out of the way of them, but the change in wind pushed them toward him. This unfortunate altering caused the Thunder Wave to lock onto its intended victim. The small bolt traveled through the bubbles like a beam, finally catching onto the Nidoran's most attracting point - the point of his horn, of course.
Instantly he felt the effects of the zap, his nerves becoming damaged and unsensitive; he thus buckled and fell to the floor, his limbs unable for the moment to support him. Whatever attack he'd been planning that turn was overrode, and he was left vulnerable to the next attack - that is, unless he regained control before that.
Nidoran M dodged bubbles; Nidoran M is hit with Thunder Wave. Nidoran M is paralyzed. Nidoran M is unable to move!
