Sierra hadn't gone far from the Rangers' tent before she let her new Pokémon out of its capsule. Before he even fully appeared, she ran at him with a hug. <.. Get off of me.> He said bad-temperedly, but before he even finished his sentence Sierra quickly jumped off of him, yowling in pain. The sharp edges of his body had dug into her skin, but not enough to pierce it, thank goodness.
"Sheesh! You're a little rough around the edges, aren't you..." She replied, rubbing her arms where his sharp points had scratched her. Sighing she took out her pokedex, aimed it at him, and listened as the Pokedex's strange but wise voice explained what the dinosaur thing really was. "Hells yes, I have an awesome prehistoric Pokémon!" She cheered when the Pokedex completed its entry.
The Cranidos simply got up boredly and followed her when she began to walk onto Route One. She looked down fondly at him and patted his head. "You know what? An awesome beasty like you deserves an equally awesome name. How about I call you Seryl?" She offered.
The hard-headed Pokémon simply shrugged, but he was pleased that she had decided to name him. To be honest, he was glad to have someone he could fight for and protect. In the wild, all he did was survive - but he could get a thrill out of this new life. He sighed in contentment.
Sierra nearly jumped for joy, thrilled that her adventure was beginning. "Whoo, I'm so psyched!" She shouted, and it echoed all around the forest.

One hop. Two hops. Three hops. Quick turn to face behind. Repeat.
This is what the small bird pokemon was doing. At any sound it would whip around, eyes darting wildly, as if worried someone was following it. If it saw no one then it would repeat the process, hoping so many times before facing behind it, as if it knew that someone was there.
So far it was "safe" but that didn't stop it from following the procedure over and over again. The Taillow emerged from the cover of the trees and tall grass, landing on it's last hop in the middle of the dirt path of route one. It didn't notice the gray haired teen coming up the path, nor the pokemon beside her. For how paranoid the pokemon was, it was pretty blind to everything that wasn't in front of or behind it.
A Wild Taillow has appeared.

When Sierra saw the bird appear in front of them, she quieted down a little so as not to frighten the petite little creature away. Our first battle, awesome! She thought excitedly as she hesitated to say anything for a few seconds.
Then she unfroze and decided that she'd take the initiative. "Seryl, use headbutt," She whispered to him, and he nodded. Executing the attack, the hardheaded pokemon bent and began clawing the ground with his foreleg. Then he charged quickly at the bird, formidable head talons pointed directly at the Taillow's backside.

The Taillow repeated it's rhythm. One step, two ste--. The headbutt knocked the Taillow right off her little feet. The sharp edges of the Cranidos' head digging into her feathers. She landed a few feet away, rather astonished. She'd always expected an attack like that to come from behind. All sneak attacks came from behind, didn't they. Plus, she'd been sure someone had been following her. They'd been doing it all day. She didn't know what to do. This big...thing... had attacked her out of nowhere. She didn't want to fight, but was too scared to fly away. Taillow flinched

Sierra smiled as Seryl hit the bird dead-on with his rock hard skull. "Yeah! You go, dude!" She cheered, cupping her hands around her lips. Thrilled about their first battle, she commanded her pokemon again. "Use headbutt, one more time!" She shouted, removing the lollipop she'd been licking from her mouth and pointing it dramatically at the flinching bird.
The little dinosaur complied, letting out a fierce battle cry and bending his head down. He almost felt guilty for hurting the cautious-looking little bird, but he also knew it was his first time attacking another creature. It was exciting. Clawing the ground with his hind talons, he charged once more towards the frightened bird, gaining speed every second.

Taillow, unwilling to surrender quite yet, took to the sky to dodge the Headbutt. She then, in her fear, let out a low Growl. She didn't want to fight, but this thing wasn't about to let her leave without a few bumps and bruises. Fine, she'd take him on. Then go about her paranoid way. She dove low to the ground to get ready for her next attack, not really anticipating the next attack, whatever it may be. Taillow dodged the Headbutt Taillow used Growl[/center]

When the Taillow rose high and dodged the headbutt, Seryl had to skid on the dust in order to regain stability. Luckily for him, he avoided crashing into the nearby trees. Turning, he heard the Taillow's growl, which influenced him to go more easy on the poor thing. It was a petite creature, after all.
"Seryl, use Leer on Taillow and then go for another Headbutt!" Sierra commanded, heart racing. Was this how it felt to battle? She felt confidence and exhilaration flowing through her and was glad she chose to become a pokemon trainer.
The Cranidos aimed a mean stare at the Taillow, hoping to lower its defense, then lowered his thick skull and charged once more at the bird. This time he jumped, thinking the bird would rise again to dodge his headbutt once more.

The glaring move from Seryl intimidated Taillow. It flew slightly higher, trying to avoid another damaging move. However, the Cranidos had grown smart. The next Headbutt came higher than Taillow had expected. The thick skull came crashing into Taillow a second time, bringing it to the ground. It was time for a bit of serious payback.
Taillow let out a war cry of sorts. It took the the air once more, staying mere inches from the ground heading towards Seryl in a Peck attack.

Seryl, after his headbutt hit successfully, flipped back onto the ground and crouched defensively, watching the Taillow as she powered herself up. Then she came at him - at first, he thought of ducking, but realized as she advanced closer that she was low to the ground.
"Move to the side, buddy!" Cried out Sierra, but her command was too late for him to follow. The sharp beak hit him critically in the face. He stumbled backwards, but didn't go too far due to his hard body. Still, the Peck did an okay amount of damage, and the lasting damage made him wince a little.
Impatient to see her friend get hurt, she crunched down a little on the lollipop. Then, raising her pointer finger, she issued orders once more. "Seryl, show that bird who's boss and use another Headbutt!"
Cranidos turned back to face the Taillow, letting out a huff. He bent down once more, raking the ground with his hard claws, and charged at the bird, bracing his body for another impact. This time he stayed low, thinking the bird might predict another jump.

The Taillow collided to the face of the Cranidos, it's peak dealing a fair amount of damage but just one or two hits were almost never enough to take down a pokemon without using super effective moves. Flying with a quick vertical rise it flew up, assessing the situation. Missing the opportunity to hit Seryl while he was wincing from the peck.
A yell was issued from the human but the bird pokemon only took in one word from it. Head butt. These two liked using the same strategy over and over again it seemed. Issuing a low and slightly tense growl the Taillow drew close to the ground, hoping for the hard headed pokemon before it to leap over them.
This however, wasn't smart. The Cranidos slammed right into the poor unsuspecting bird. To add to it, the Taillow hit the ground, skidding and rolling a few rocky feet away from the initial impact. It didn't get back up or any motion at all.

Sierra saw the little bird descend and let out a cheer of victory, raising her arm in the air and jumping for joy. "Woo-hoo!! I knew you could do it, Seryl!" She cheered.
She debated catching the small little bird, but decided against it - she had limitted pokeballs already, and she wasn't particularly fond of most flying-type pokemon. Sure, they were speedy, but not quite that powerful in her eyes.
She turned to her beloved dinosaur and began running towards him with her arms outstretched. Seryl shook his head with a grin, and sidestepped her attempt at a hug in order to avoid injuring her with his sharp and hard body. She landed in a bush, leaves falling on her face. "Owowow.." She said under her breath, rubbing her butt with her free hand and standing up. "Well, let's go," She said, leaving the fallen bird. Sierra felt a little bad for just leaving the poor bird, but she couldn't let something like that stop her.
She munched on her lollipop, looking around for any other pokemon to fight and perhaps capture.

If one listened close enough you could hear it. It was like finger nails on a chalk board or the sound of a baby wailing at three in the morning. Something that you just didn't want to hear. However it was neither of these things. If one went to investigate you would come upon a steel type pokemon with a big appetite. This Aron seemed to be craving some empty pop cans, bottle caps, and... Is that a broken pokedex?
The pokemon takes no notice of you if approach, investing it's full attention on devouring the bike handle bars that were half in it's mouth. Yum?
A wild Aron has appeared!

Sierra had to hold in a gasp as the horrible sound entered her ears. The crunching was nearly unbearable, so she decided to check it out. "Come on, Seryl, let's see what all the fuss is about," She muttered, walking in the direction of the noise. The hardheaded dino followed closely behind, worried that the wretched sound may lead them to trouble.
They came upon a strange-looking little pokemon, at the sight of which Sierra deftly ripped out her Pokedex and aimed it at it. She turned the pokedex' volume down low so as not to scare it away; gotta love technology nowadays. After he was registered, she shoved it back in her purse. While she was putting it away, she also felt something else there - another pokeball? She removed it from her bag and looked at it blankly, wondering how the hell she misplaced one of the balls. Then she rechecked the amount of pokeballs that were in her ball pocket - still 5! This was weird... what was this random ball doing in her bag?
She decided to see what was in it, so she tossed it gently onto the ground, unleashing a strange brown pokemon wearing what seemed to be a gigantic skull. The little Cubone yawned and turned towards Sierra, rubbing her eyes groggily. <Yawn... I'm sleepy...> Sierra, meanwhile, was too busy staring in awe of what could be the second most adorable creature on the planet. (Seryl, of course, is her current first.) She quickly dug out her pokedex again and aimed at the... Cubone, it was? Then she ran at the little brown pokemon and embraced her, trying not to squeal with excitement. "I don't remember ever capturing you, but you're too adorable not to keep!" She complimented, unlatching from the Cubone, who stared back in her eyes. The little bone pokemon hadn't been hugged in a long time, and instantly felt an attachment to this new trainer.
Sierra stood again, and after a few seconds of consideration, decided to name the little pokemon. "I'll call you Terra!" She said, and Cubone nodded slowly in response. It was then that the young teen remembered that there was an Aron in front of them.
"Okay, Terra, it's time to test your skills - use Iron Head on that Aron before it gets away!" She commanded, pointing her finger at the little steel pokemon that, hopefully, was still at work eating it's bike meal. The skull-faced creature rushed at the little beast, aiming her tough helmet at it.

The aron considered the girl and her Pokémon nothing but mere background noise and finished tearing off the front of the Pokedex from the rest of the body with ease. Happily scarfing down the rest of its meal, it was completely oblivious to the danger that it was in. It was only nibbling on one of the buttons when it felt a painful bump to its side, making it tumble down onto its knees.
Being caught off guard made that move rather powerful, actually, it was quite Critical. Natural defense helped the iron beast stay in the game, but adding more couldn't hurt, right? With an observant glare at its opponent, its body immediately began to shimmer with a new silver coating.
It was a thin layer of metal growing on the Aron, but enough to be considered a Harden. Whatever this Cubone was going to do next, it was ready. ::aron::

Terra jumped back as the Aron shone brightly, thinking that perhaps it was going to execute an attack, but she was wrong. Sierra finished the lollipop she'd been chewing on and tossed the biodegradable stick away {{ooc/ she don't litter ;[ }}, then pulled out a dark chocolate pocky stick and stuck it in her mouth as she continued to concentrate on the battle.
"Now, Terra, use Tail Whip and then go in for another Iron Head!" She called, watching her newfound Cubone closely. Regardless of the creature's small stature, she was strong and sturdy. The bone-headed pokemon turned and wagged her tail at the Aron to lower its defense, then turned back to face it and dropped to the ground. Lowering her head, she launched, hind legs pushing against the ground to gain speed. This thime she veered for the side of Aron's body where there were no spikes to hinder her.

Aron frowned slightly at the tail whip. After it just raised it's defense? Lame tail... Stubby brown thing!
Aron was prepared for the charge attack that Terra was doing and did two quick bounces, once to the side to avoid the hit, the second as a 180 degree turn to face it's opponent. Kicking off the ground, it charged after the Cubone, hoping to hit it with a tackle attack to the back.

{{ooc/ lul, big enough for me :] }}
The Cubone tumbled forward from the velocity of its attack, having passed its evasive target. Turning, she saw the Aron speeding towards it. A familiar voice in the distance - "Try to dodge it, Terra!" But to no avail; the little metal creature had already closed the distance between them, and crashed into Cubone squarely in the stomach.
Breath knocked out of her, she couldn't inhale for a few seconds; however, she soon pushed herself back up. Staggering a little, she tried to regain her composure. Sierra, who was viewing the battle from afar, shouted another command: "Use Ironhead once more!" Hearing her trainer's words, the bone-headed beast rushed again at the Aron, though this time she zigzagged a little to hopefully fake it out. She then turned and rushed full-speed at the Aron's side, head held low to attain maximum velocity. Adrenaline was pumping through her.
Meanwhile, Seryl was looking around nearby to see if it could find someone more serious to talk to. While speaking with Sierra was somewhat interesting, it would be refreshing to have a chat with another pokemon like in the old days before he'd been captured. He decided to check in the bushes, using his feet to hold them open and peer inside.

Where was the Cubone coming from? The right, left? Center? It seemed to be all over the place. How annoying. He would put a stop to this, yes he would. He turned he rear to the Cubone and kicked up not sand, but a sudden spray of mud. He felt the bone pokemon his with Iron Head. What an awkward place to suddenly have a bruise. He wouldn't be able to sit down for at few days at best.
But the Mud Slap would help if this battle went on any longer. Cubone's accuracy should have been lowered. But Aron was tired. Stupid trainer interrupted his afternoon meal. Even if, and that's a big if, he we're to go down, he'd go down fighting.

Even before Terra had executed her Ironhead, she felt a splash of sticky brown mud envelope her face. She ended up still hitting the Aron, but afterward she stumbled back and attempt to brush the sandy earth out of her eyes. Her attempt failed, but she could still see a little bit through the curtain of dirt.
"Terra, use Tail Whip and Ironhead again!" Her trainer cried, and she complied. Turning tail on the Aron, she whipped it around, then did a corkscrew in the air in order to re-face the metal beast. As soon as she landed she began running again towards the grey smudge, hoping her impaired eyesight wasn't failing her. This was her first battle for her new found trainer, and she wished not to dissapoint.
It seemed there was no one around for Seryl to talk to, so he decided to leave the bush area. Sighing, he decided to take a trip around the premises. He wasn't in the mood to watch a fight this time around.

The lowered accuracy was all that the Aron needed to get by for another good turn of battle. The tail whip had missed, allowing it to use another Harden to protect itself against the expected Iron Head. Geez, it would have to be as dumb as a rock not to expect it this time around. Turning towards the Cubone so she would strike against its hard, armored head took off less health than previously.
It was tired though. Now the metal was vibrating around its head, and it was feeling a migraine coming around. With frustration clear in its eyes, the Aron charged forward with a Tackle aimed at the Cubone's gut.
::aron::
Unfortunately, there was no one around that wanted to occupy Seryl's time. At least for now.
