Sierra laughed a little. "No, silly. If you really want, I can keep you outside of the pokeball all the time. There's two of my Pokémon over there." She turned a little to point at her two partners. Pascal waved enthusiastically, while Seryl just tilted his head a little bit to the side.
Sierra continued to sit on the ground, looking down again at the Sunkern. "Well, you said yourself that Pokémon come by to give Sunkern their sun stones... it'd go much faster if I supplied you with one, though, right?" She pressed, her gaze fierce but kind as she stared at the Sunkern. Her offer was serious - she disliked those who made false promises, after all.

The pokemon considered it. It was quite an offer, and he DID want to become a beautiful flower like his mother one day. And the trainer... He took one hard look at her. Was she lying? Would he be able to stay in the sun during the day? He really did not like the idea of a steel prison, but the trainer did not seem like a liar...
<Sing me a song,> said the pokemon. <And if you are telling the truth, I will come with you.>

Sierra nearly fell backwards at the demand of a song. What sort of song did he want? What genre? Did it have to rhyme? Did it have to be about Sunkerns!? .. She decided to sing what came naturally to her. Pascal awaited the song with a laughing grin, while Seryl looked nervously at Sierra. She'd probably screw this up, he thought. Sierra cleared her throat before she began.
"Oh pure magnificence, thou art, little one Drink sweetly from the rays of the sun For though in first days your stature falls short Don't worry, for in time you'll reach to the sun evermore~
Come with me, golden seedling And I'll teach you my ways Happiness shall reach you, all of thine days. " Pascal nearly fell over, impressed with her song. Seryl just stood, shocked, and clapped slowly with his paws. He didn't know the girl had it in her to sing, especially since she was the oddest human he'd ever known. Sierra herself just stood, waiting for the sunkern's input. Her palms were shaking, but that was probably the best show she'd ever put on {if not, the only one} in order to serenade a Pokémon into her team. She'd managed to sing around her lollipop, as well, which was quite a feat. [/blockquote]

The Sunkern's leaves swayed back and forth as it listened to Sierra sing. Closing it's eyes, it took all of the lyrics in. When she stopped it added it's input. <About the sun too!>
It exclaimed. Seems that was a plus. Opening it's eyes, it watched Sierra for a long time before speaking again. <Fine... I accept your offer but!... I must remain outside the pokeball at all times in which the sun shines and I'd like to be out in the rain, or any sort of light water if via pokemon, at least once every three days so that I may grown to my fullest potential.> It's eyes landed on the Buizel behind the trainer with eyes that could almost be read to say 'that means you bub'. Sierra smiled, proud of herself for impressing such a touchy seed like this one. "I tried my best," She said, accepting the seedling's compliment, or whatever the thing said.
Sierra nodded in response to the little seedling's demands, knowing they were all within her ability to grant. Pascal did a mock stance of despair at the seedling's demand for water, then laughed at his own joke. Then the trainer spoke. "Sure thing, new buddy~!" Sierra replied excitedly, fishing for a pokeball that was hiding inside of her purse. "But first, you'll have to stay inside of this pokeball for a few seconds. I'll let you out afterwards once it's done, okay?" She said, tossing the sphere at the little Sunkern.

The ball hit the Sunkern, sucking it in in a red light. The ball shook slowly, as if the Sunkern was suddenly having second thoughts. Maybe this trainer wouldn't keep her promises? Maybe she would have better luck with a male who understood the concept of worshiping? Too late to go back now though. The ball had her in it's clutches and she wasn't going to be able to escape this late in the game. One...two...three...Ding!

When Sunkern accepted the confines of the pokeball, Sierra let out a cheer. Then, remembering her promise, she ran over to the grounded sphere and pressed the button to allow her new friend to exit its confines, placing the empty shell back onto her belt. After being released, the seedling breathed a sigh of relief, having been worrying in the pokeball about if the trainer would allow her freedom. It was a blessing that she'd found a girl that kept her word. Smiling, Sierra picked up the Sunkern and allowed her to rest in the palm of her hand, soaking in the sun's rays. <Welcome to the team, Elvara," She said, naming the sweet little kernel the first thing that popped into her head. As if in recognition of her new name, the seedling waved the leaves atop her in joy. <I know I shall enjoy the future I have with you.> Replied the Sunkern.
Grinning, Sierra straightened and beckoned to Seryl and Pascal, who were both glad about having the new member on the team. Pascal, being a pretty chill guy, didn't mind at all the fact that he'd have to water the plant. His body contained plenty of stored water anyway. Seryl didn't mind either way, just glad his trainer seemed to be becoming more mature - although it was still questionable.
The team walked on, basking in the summer's warm rays. A light breeze was rolling, making the heat a little more bearable. It was past noon now - the sun was lowering in the sky, but above it was still an even blue hue.

The wind blew lightly on to the path and in the distant woods one could hear the calls of many bird and bug type pokemon. The occasional random call of some other pokemon could be heard, though they didn't tend to be as loud or as far away, not having the ability to travel quiet as big a distance.
Off the path, if one's eyes were good enough, or even if the observer was paying attention to take notice, they might be able to discern two red and yellow sphere like objects weaving through the blades. If one watched long enough they might be able to see an orange body beneath it that ever once and a while popped up when shorter grass didn't block the view.
The pokemon seemed to be making it's way to the dirt path. Little does the Paras know that Sierra is standing on the very path. Run away little pokemon, run away.

Sierra was watching the horizon as she walked, only seeing a part of the ground she was traversing. She thus did not notice that the very road she was walking was inhabited by a mushroom organism, which she was nearing. Seryl, however, was far more observant than she - he noticed the mushroom-topped pokemon advancing on the path Sierra was about to walk on.
<Don't--!> Cried out the stony dinosaur, not wishing to see the Paras' life end under the foot of his trainer. Sierra heard his plea and immediately lowered the foot she had raised down to the ground, looking down in front of her. It was quite possibly the nastiest bug she'd ever seen. "Woah!!" She said, ripping out her pokedex while Seryl wiped a paw across his forehead in relief. The machine identified the scarlet creature as a Paras. "Aw yeah, a plant AND a bug at the same time!?" She exclaimed once the pokedex began listing the critter's stats. She shoved the machine back into her bag before it stopped talking and knelt down to the Paras' level.
"Hey, little guy!" She greeted, her lips parting to reveal her teeth in a slight smile. "I'm sorry to have almost stepped on you, but you have Seryl to thank for that. Anyway, how are you?" She questioned with genuine politeness. She was still holding Elvara in the palm of her hand, the little Sunkern having fallen asleep as they walked.

The paras had been completely oblivious to the fact her life had been moments away from ending in a very ugly way. However, once she noticed the trainer nexdt to her, though in her field of vision all she could see were her shoes, and then her knees, she did a double-take. <WHOA! What? You almost stepped on me?> She strained herself to look up, using her claws to prop herself into a slanted position. <I guess I was doing fine before you told me that. Shocked my poor little heart, you did!>

Sierra pressed a hand to her heart in a genuine gesture of regret. "Oh, I'm sorry for not watching where I was stepping! But I'm glad you're okay, at least." She replied, nodding to show that her feelings were not fraudulent. Then she decided to ask the Paras what her story was - it wouldn't hurt.
"So, what were you up to?" Asked Sierra, resting her free arm on her knees as she knelt. Elvara was still asleep, cradled by the soft skin of her trainer's hand.

The Paras gave as much of a smile that it could, though to a human it might look like a scowl on the bug pokemon's face. <What was I doing?>
A confused look appeared on it's face. Why would a human want to know that? <Well you see, we Paras don't like open dry air or direct sunlight. I had just finished collecting tree sap from that tree over yonder and was just about to head back to my cave. It's much too hot outside. I'll come out again tonight.> As the wild Paras informed Sierra, it pointed one of it's legs at an oak tree beside the path at the 'tree sap' section of it's speech and another leg into the forest opposite of the tree for the cave. <My mushrooms wanted sap from that tree, otherwise I would of picked one closer. They're very demanding.> The mushroom pokemon half whispered this to the girl before it, as if afraid the life controlling mushrooms on it's back would hear.

Sierra listened tentatively to the Paras' explanation, catching the most obvious words. She'd been around Pokémon enough to know what they meant at times, after all, but their speech was still too complicated for humans to understand most of the time. She was lucky she'd practiced communication with the school's pet Pokémon.
"Well, since you don't like sunlight... how would you feel about staying in a nice, cool pokeball?" She took one of them out and showed it to the mushroom-topped Paras, hoping that that argument would be enough to convince the Pokémon to come with her. "And, you know, I can talk to the shrooms for you. I mean, if they'll listen to me. Cause I don't think it's very nice of them to control you and all..." Said Sierra, smiling innocently.

The Paras thought this over. A pokeball was nice and dark. Other trainers hadn't pointed that out before. Actually, not many trainers stopped and talked. They were all 'I'M GONNA CATCH YOU', send out a pokemon and proceed to get beaten by one of his friends. It got annoying, really. Now those friends were for the most part, caught and now his mushrooms were talking to him on a regular basis. Then again, his mushrooms wouldn't get the sap they wanted. Was that enough of a reason to leave the forest with this trainer?
<Hmm. You'd try to talk to my mushrooms?> He asked, poking the ball with a hesitant claw. <It really is dark in there, isn't it...> He mused, looking from his mushrooms (as best he could) to the pokeball.
<Well...if you can try to talk to them, I'll come. You do make some interesting points.> This trainer was different than the others that came around day after day. Maybe this would make for an interesting experience.

Sierra nodded enthusiastically to the Paras' two questions, excited about capturing this odd-looking pokemon. Then, as the parasite pokemon proposed she talk to the two mushrooms occupying her back, the girl cleared her throat to ready herself. Then she bent to the mushrooms' level and attempted to speak with them.
"Uhm, hello. I noticed you were being too controlling to your host. I think you should be more, how should I say... flexible.. to her choices... because, after all, you are her guests and it was your choice to go on her back, you know?" Explained Sierra, steadily becoming doubtful that the mushrooms were even listening at all. "So.. can you be a little.. more respectful to her?" She asked, taking a deep breath. She was beginning to realize that it might become a chore to bring this Paras with her.
Pascal was trying hard to stifle a laugh at the sight - his trainer, talking to some mushrooms on some forsaken land crab's back. It was as if she'd been smoking mushrooms, herself! He slapped his knee, finally allowing the laughter to exit his jaws, and Seryl couldn't help but laugh along with him - his mirth was contagious. Elvara was the only one not amused, looking curiously at the paras' two mushrooms. It was as if she was listening to them herself, being a plant as well.

The Paras was quiet as Sierra talked to the mushrooms, it was trying to hear if the mushrooms would make any replies or counter demands. Kricketot sounds could be heard in it's head. Nothing.
<I think they may be sleeping now that they've gotten their sap. Maybe you can come back and try another time?>
The bug/grass pokemon gave a small shrug, or as best as it could, and turned to leave. Sierra couldn't talk to them so it wouldn't go with her as the deal was set. It would let her try again later tonight or tomorrow if they ever ran into each other again. Is leaving. Interfere?

Sierra's face was crestfallen as the Paras informed her that the mushrooms were asleep. Realizing she could lose her only chance to capture the insect, she reached out her hand. "W-wait!" She called. "Where do you live? Would you mind if I followed you back home and spoke with your mushrooms when they wake up?" She suggested, her head telling her constantly that she was truly crazy for continuing to try to capture this odd creature. She really felt she'd regret it if she didn't try her best to bring this Paras with her. Perhaps she was insane, herself.
Pascal, Seryl, Elvara, and Sierra all watched curiously for the Paras to answer them, hearts thumping in unison. Pascal was still holding in a giggle, thinking this was all pretty hilarious.

The pokemon thought about it for a while. Was it worth it? The mushrooms were quite annoying and demanding when they were awake, making him walk all the way to the tree for some sap (even though the closer ones would have done just fine), but they were still part of her. She had called them guests, but was that really true? Were the mushrooms nothing but her guests? They were family to the paras. Demanding, selfish, and completely unrealistic sometimes, but still family. Besides, she did not like the idea of the human discovering his cave and its secret entrance.
<I...> she thought about it again. <I think I'll be fine.> She tried to glance at her mushrooms again. <I'll try talking to them myself again. Maybe I could make them understand on my own.>

Sierra stared at the Paras for a minute, trying to think up another way to gain the little insect's approval. Well, she didn't seem to mind her talking to the mushrooms. Perhaps it was another reason, something to do with her house... well, this was too much thinking for her poor little head. At that moment, she came up with an idea. A smile lighted her face the instant she thought of it.
Turning her body, she pressed her arm into her purse and brought out the Sitrus berry, holding it in a way that the Paras could see it. "If you let me come along, I'll bring dinner." She said simply, fiddling with the large berry in her hand. Elvara, feeding only on water, wasn't interested in the berry. Pascal and the others didn't mind either - though their tummies were rumbling a bit. Maybe Sierra could get some food for them, later.

The Paras grew even more hesitant. Why did this trainer want them so much? The wild pokemon backed away slowly. <As... Lovely as the offer is. I'd prefer to just sleep. I already had food you see. The tree sap and all. Umm... Good day.>
The burnt orange colored pokemon started to scurry away towards the bushes on the side of the path. This Paras was smart however. It wouldn't, if followed, run straight towards it's cave. It knew how to blend in with the forest, having lived there all it's life. No, instead it would take cover in the thicket of bushes on the other side of the tree line and use the emergency entrance to it's cave. Granted the tunnel to the cave was long and winding but that was to throw off an curious pokemon. It being so long and dark, most pokemon would leave before even the half way point. Yes, good plan. Paras is trying to run away.
