Sam had recently entered the trainer's lounge hoping that this is the perfect place for him to meet new trainers and meet other Pokémon and maybe even make a few trades here and there, and maybe even a few battles. He has just recently started his journey so he'd prefer to get some experience against new members or the aged veterans. He does not care about losing a Pokémon battle as he knows it is just a part of life and a good chance for his Gligar to get stronger and get better. You lose a few here and there before you can really get it going and win big... Hopefully this is the perfect place for him to meet some trainers and battle some of them also. Get some experience and hopefully a few level ups here and there so his Gligar can get stronger. And he might even be lucky enough to trade his Pokémon and get some better ones in return. He's hoping for the best but also he's aware that this might not be the place for him right now... But he'd like to try His Gligar is on his shoulder and ready to challenge itself also. It is very friendly to new trainers and also very loyal to it's own trainer. It likes to meet new friends, but also get stronger and get more experience. Anyone here can help Sam or his Gligar? Loves to meet new people. Hoping for a challenge but not an impossible task

What in the world was he really doing here? He knew he had to focus on sticking through the second route, but if he ever wanted to go any farther, he had to train the weakest on his team. His eyes glanced to the Pokeball in his hands, wondering how a Steelix even managed to fit inside of it. She was a nice one, so he figured using her in this environment would've been safer than destroying random homes in a single Pokemon Battle. "Young lad, here for some training?" He questioned, seeing a for sale sign with a Rattata on it. Lab rats, huh? Nothing he was crazy interested in. Not unless he happened to find some chemicals, or even radiation...but that was another story. Looking over the trainer's fresh, young face, and that excited Gligar's expression, he couldn't help but wonder how new he was. "If you even have one badge, you'd have a chance against my weakest. But, I hear the Ile Electrique Gym is down." He commented, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. So maybe there were people on the Primier Route that could take on Cobalt. Without much of a thought, seeing that the Steelix could fit in this massive building, he released her from the sphere. <...They're both...really...cute.> She commented, blinking her eyes as her head crouched down real low, examining Seamus's new company. Perhaps they could take this to an official battle room?

The Gligar flew right in front of his trainer in an attempt to battle this Steelix. Sam knew he was overmatched as this was an evolved form, and it looked rather strong also. He took one good look at the trainer and then said: <"Okay if it is a match you want then I will give you a match>"His Gligar flew up in the air and then Sam said: <"Do not take me lightly just because I look new, I have a few tricks up my sleeve!"> and he suddenly made the first move to start this battle. His Gligar flew directly at this steel Pokémon but instead of attacking he simply threw some sand his way to weaken the Steelix's accuracy. Sam screamed out to his Gligar: <"Gligar go in with a sand attack and then back off, lets fight this battle from a distance and make the Steelix chase after us!">And so the first move in this battle was made... Ready to battle, shoots a Sand Attack at the Steelix before backing off and keeping a distance

"Block the sand." Seamus stated simply, and Cobalt agreed with haste, especially after realizing that they were in battle mode. She had to back up, in fear of harming the human as well as her own, and ended up dodging the sand before it could get her in her eyes. Seamus could only nod, pleased that she actually managed to dodge it. But with her bulk, a little bit of sand wasn't about to bother her. 'Chase it down, huh? Why bother?' Seamus looked towards the Gligar, seeing it back away as the trainer commanded it. There was some kind of strategy going on, but he couldn't imagine what they had in mind. Deciding to play along, he nodded towards Cobalt. "Fire Fang." He added, watching with some excitement as flames began to lick at her teeth. She let out a humble growl instead of a mighty roar, choosing not to disturb others as she slithered through the battle arena, attempting to let out a small chomp at the Gligar.

The Steelix was just too powerful for Sam's Gligar and he simply could not dodge the attack. Agonizing in pain after getting bit, Gligar just continued to scream as there was nothing he could do in this situation... He suddenly heard his trainer scream an order to him: <"Just hang in there a bit longer and slash him with a Metal Claw. You can still win this, just slash him so you are able to get away. Come on Gligar!!!!!"> Sam was screaming at his Gligar hoping that he heard him and had enough strength to do this command. The Gligar was fainting fast, and it didn't help that Steelix had a very tight grip of Gligar's body... ::Gligar:: Hit by the Fire Fang, agonizing in pain, ties to slash Steelix with a Metal Claw so that he could break free and run away

Cobalt looked up, startled at how upset the other trainer was getting just because she gave the Gligar one 'little' nip. Looking down at the Gligar, with flames licking around his body dangerously, she decided to be nice. As the Metal Claw struck through the flame shield and right at her mouth, she spat out the Gligar, just to give him a little bit of masculine dignity. Seamus looked at the Gligar curiously, wondering how it got Cobalt to let go of him. Maybe it was stronger than he originally thought, even if it did take a lot more damage than he expected. Ah, well. Cobalt needed the training. The more turns their opponent lasted, the better. "Bind it." He ordered, crossing his arms smugly. He felt as if he was going to win, but that didn't interest him that much. Battles were battles. Levels were levels. They all added up in the end. "Don't worry if you lose, I think I have something that can help you out a bit." He nodded wisely, though he wasn't in the mood to actually give up any Pokemon he caught or earned. But an item would've been nice.

The Gligar was caught and binded up by the attack, but while he was stuck to the Onix, Sam made him use another Metal Claw in close range. Hopefully this one will have an effect and increase the attack strength of Gligar.
His Gligar started to feel the rough skin of the Steelix and started to scream in agony. His trainer, Sam quickly said to him
<"Just hang in there Gligar, you got this! This is exactly what we need, this is going to be a challenge and one we might not win. But we need to get the experience and we need to get stronger! Come on Gligar, give him everything you have into that metal claw and show them that although we might not be too experienced, we do have heart and raw potential. Come on Gligar!!!>"
He was also saying to the other trainer,
<"Thank you for pushing my Gligar to the limit and pushing me to the limit. I have never had a battle like this ever. I hope you are enjoying yourself as I am have a blast even though the battle is favoring your right now. This is the exact battle I wanted to have to get the experience I need to get stronger>"

<Ow.> The Steelix grunted as the weak Metal Claw struck at her body, and seeing that the Bind was only supposed to be one quick squeeze, she decided to let the Gligar go for a bit. Why not, after all, she was hardly taking damage from it. She snorted, knowing that her defense was pretty great and all, but this little guy was hardly in her league. He had spunk though, which made the Gligar even more adorable. <Keep up, little one. I'm not done yet.> She joked, having a confident stare as her body began to coil up, as if she was getting into a resting position. Instead, it almost looked as if she was ready to jump on the Gligar, which would've been an awkward and clumsy attack, especially since she didn't know Body Slam. "...bah." Seamus sighed, getting annoyed at how much this kid was talking. It wasn't in his nature to talk back with even a hint of interest, unless it was science related. Nothing this child mentioned was interesting in the slightest, but he was trying. Best not to crush a bunch of hopes too soon in a journey. "Let's see if your Gligar can handle a Rock Throw." He offered a challenge, deciding to see if the poison type was still as fast as before, even with all of that damage. He gave a nod of consent over to Cobalt, who in turn let out a growl of satisfaction. Tail glowing, she smashed her tail into the ground, sending a bunch of small rocks headed straight for her opponent.

The Gligar was too slow to dodge the rock throws and he was eventually crumbled in them. The Gligar suddenly fainted and Sam was disappointed but also very encouraged with his pokemon's performance. He returned his pokemon and quickly said to him: <"You were awesome today Gligar. Go and get a very nice rest because you deserve it.">Then he threw out his other pokeball and out came his Rattata. His Rattata was bigger and more ready for battle and he quickly started running around Steelix, being much faster, to confuse the steel pokemon. Sam said to his Rattata: <"Quickly just run around her using quick attack so she does not know where to attack you. You have the speed advantage here!"> and that was what his Rattata did. ::Rattata:: Used quick attack, not as an attack but rather to quickly run around the Steelix and confuse her so her would not know where to attack

[+1 Level for Gligar. +2 Levels for Steelix]
Seamus and Cobalt sighed in relief when the Gligar was taken down by those small rocks, both having wondered if it would actually dodge them or not. The Steelix looked on at the Gligar's fainted body with a guilty aura, but she allowed his trainer a special moment with him. She was just about to prod Seamus to return her to her sphere, since this building was a bit cramped for her tastes, but he stopped her with a raise of his palm--the kid wasn't done yet. <More company? Oh dear, I hope I look ok.> The Steelix worriedly looked around as she heard a flash of light, but couldn't see her opponent anywhere. At least in the case of the Gligar, he flew around in her eyesight. She had no idea where this one even was. "Ahem." Seamus called to her attention and pointed down, like, really low. Confused, she turned to face the ground and saw...a fast Rattata running around her. She tried hard not to laugh, due to offending the opponent, and at the very least only let out a girlish giggle. "Mud Sport." Seamus had ideas with this move, thinking that maybe the mud would be slippery enough to stop some of that speed. If it didn't work, that would be fine. At least Cobalt would be more comfortable in a natural environment. The Steelix nodded, raising her head up into the air as a variety of gooey, cold mud emerged from her throat, spreading all over the field.

The Steelix covered itself with mud and then also got a little on the floor near the Rattata. Suddenly the Rattata tripped and fell right at the Steelix, tackling him with an attack that probably hurt him more than it hurt the creature... Seeing how hard Steelix's body was.
Sam was confused and a little worried as he seemed to no longer have the speed advantage now that the floor around the Steelix was extremely slippery... And the Rattata was so close to the Steelix now that it could attack...
::Rattata:: Tripped and Tackled the Steelix. But very close to the pokemon now that the Steelix can easily strike him.

Cobalt felt a hard thump against her body that sent a ticklish feeling throughout her body. It hurt, almost as if someone managed to pinch her. Her warm gaze turned towards the now muddy pawed Rattata, who obviously had some trouble running around in the mud sport. As big as she was, she could never imagine herself running in such a cramped space like the Rattata did. "Get it. Ice Fang." Seamus ordered with a slightly excited command, glad to get the chance to get a good move on his opponent. Cobalt wasn't too keen on making such a strong attack on an itty bitty foe, but she understood some of her trainer's intentions in this. Her fangs began to glow a light blue, and as her head approached the Rattata, two light blue bolts of ice extended out of her fangs, aimed right at the Rattata. 'An Ice Fang like that? Now that's a first.' He looked from the Steelix's fangs to the light blue blast, always imagining that an Ice Fang would just be a mere bite with some extra cold on the side. Perhaps she finally mastered the real Ice Fang? It was some improvement over Route 2, at least.

The Rattata could not defend against the bite and with the added on ice it sent a cold numbness throughout his entire body. The Rattata was powerless and motionless... Bit by the Steelix right in the back and there was nowhere he could go.
He started to freak out a little, thinking this would be the end of him and Sam in return also freaked out.
<"Oh no! I just got bit by a snake and my body is going numb. Is my life really going to end this soon? I just started..."> Thought the Rattata, obviously in pain although his body began to numb.
Sam was also freaking out: <"No! Rattata! Please mister let go of my pokemon before he dies. You win this match, I give in!">
Sam took out his pokeball attempting to return his Rattata. He had a lot of experience in the academy, so he knew that there was no way this could end well at all. A giant pokemon biting down on a small pokemon, with ice fangs. There was no way this could end well... The Rattata was already beginning to faint anyways.
Sam was disappointed... He barely scraped the Steelix, but this is the difference between an experienced trainer and a new trainer. He admittedly accepted defeat, and just hoped his Rattata would be okay

[+2 Levels Cobalt. +1 Level for Rattata.]<Oh, oh dear! I-I didn't mean to go that far!> Cobalt yelped in response to the Rattata's dramatic demeanor, letting go of him at once so he could be returned within his Pokeball. Nothing would've stopped it from happening, especially with the way she suddenly backed off. "I thought you were trading that Rattata. Heh. Anyways, you put up a good fight. Cobalt agrees." He looked up, sending a small glare at the Steelix as if to force her to agree with him, but she eagerly agreed with a happy nod. She felt like she got the necessary practice in with her attacks, and possibly she could catch up with the rest of her team mates. He returned Cobalt into her Pokeball, as if to prove that the battle was officially over. "Thank you for being good about it and all...I'm not a man that gives up on a promise, so here you are. A Heavy Ball. Why, one of those could catch you a Pokemon just like Cobalt." He chuckled, revealing the dark colored Pokeball in his hands. It would've been good only with the heaviest of Pokemon, and only a few of them could be found in the wild. After offering the sphere over to Sam for him to take, he nodded his head, as if he was done with it all. No, he never gave him his name, and he was better off not knowing. With a pleased smile, he happily walked out of the trainer's lounge, more content than ever to go back to the Pokemon Center in the Water City.

Sam accepted the Heavy Ball and was surprised that this trainer would even give him a pokeball while he did not give him much of a challenge.
<"Uhm. Thanks mister for this ball, but I never got your name..."> He said to the empty air as Seamus had already left. He put his Rattata back into his pokeball and told his pokemon that he battled very well.
Then he went to the pokemon center to heal very quickly, happy with what his pokemon have both accomplished today and he was ready to battle some more trainers to give them even more experience. He was excited for the road ahead of him...
He continued walking, hoping a trainer would stop and ask him to a battle... But this time, give him a name also.

After a split second decision, Claribel found herself in the heart of Verona rather than the first route. She figured it would be an easier way to stake out her competition and gain a few levels while she's at it. Upon entering the Trainer Lounge, the immense number of people who filled it was overwhelming. It seemed to be a popular place, especially for the younger kids though there were older trainers here as well. At least she wouldn't have to worry about sticking out like a sore thumb.
She noticed a young boy, perhaps around the age of 14 or 15, walking by himself. He didn't seem to be looking for any particular person. Maybe surveying the place like she was? "Hey," she called out. She knew it wouldn't hurt her to be a little social, though she lacked greatly in these types of situations. This would probably help her fill in those empty holes in her past where she was ostracized from the rest of the kids. "Are you here to train?" she asked. It was the only question she could possibly think of thus seeming a little impulsive.

Sam looked up and saw a girl speaking to him. She was about 5'7, a little overweight. She was wearing tight pants and a regular t-shirt and had medium size black here. She said hi to him and asked if he was here to train, and being the friendly person he was he quickly replied back saying.
<"Hi my name is Samuel Robins, but you can call me Sam. Yes I am here to train my pokemon, this is my Gligar if you want to say hi to him..."> He said to her while extending his hand out as if to shake her hand.
The Gligar just looked at her, smiled and said: "Hi my name is Gligar and it is nice to meet you" And he continued to smile. Then Samuel asked if she wanted to battle him <"Yes I've been looking for a trainer to train my Gligar, Ledyba, and Rattata... I would love to battle you if you are okay with that. I'll have my Gligar go first."> He quickly said and his Gligar flew right in between the two as if he was ready to battle already.
He did not understand much of what his trainer was saying, but he did pick up on some key words since staying with him... Like block/defend, battle, and his attack moves.
::Gligar:: Ready to battle if you are also.

"And my name is Claribel," she replied, shaking his hand in return. "It's a pleasure to meet you Sam." She focused her attention to his Gligar who seemed just as friendly as his trainer. Since she never really interacted with a pokemon before, she didn't quite know if she should say hello to it as well or just leave it be. She didn't want to come off as rude to the boy since first impressions are the most important so she just gave it a small smile and nod in acknowledgment. "That's completely fine with me, plus I'm sure my pokemon need training as well," she replied. She didn't want to come off as cruel and murderous during the battle and decided to lay off the "killing blows" as her father would call them, especially since she was surrounded by witnesses. "I'll start with my Pineco," she said with a smile. "Good luck!" She removed one of the balls from her belt, throwing it in front of her in one quick movement. The Pineco emerged looking a little confused and disoriented. Although, the last thing it remembered was falling asleep in its favorite spot.

Sam began this battle by having his Gligar fly around in mid air and then he had the Pokémon throw a sand attack at the Pineco while it was still too far away to attack. He decided to go with a distance attack to start off, hopefully getting the Pineco to chase him which would make the Pokémon extremely vulnerable in mid air. He said to his Gligar: <"Start off with a sand attack to blind the foe and then send your poison stings his way. Keep a distance on him.">His Gligar did not really comprehend everything but he did understand the important parts... "Sand Attack" and "Poison Sting" so he knew this would be a distance battle, at least early on. The Gligar nodding happily saying "Glig. Glig. I will keep a distance." And he went to work, throwing sand at the direction of the Pineco and then shooting poison stings right after the sand. What would the Pineco do after seeing sand and poison stings come it's way? ::Gligar:: Used Sand Attack and Poison Sting, keeping a distance in mid air so you have to jump to tackle it.
