Mattlock walked in and looked around shyly. It was obvious he was looking for a Pokemon for his team, since he only had about three or four. It was his first time in the Pound, but that didn't matter. Looking about the place, he saw the Growlithe and smiled. She would be perfect. He gently called out "Excuse me, I would like to adopt this Growlithe."

The pound had been quite quiet lately, and Sabitha had been bustling, trying to keep the pound clean and the pokemon happy. It was quite a challenge, though, when the pokemon that are dropped off are just... different. Being abandoned by their trainer makes a creature unstable, and it broke her heart.
A trainer came into the pound, looking at the pokemon. Granny Sabitha didn't even have to guess to know which he was probably attracted to. Ember. Her little problem child. Growlithes were extremely popular, but it was hard to adopt a pokemon that refuses to actually listen to anyone. Agressive and violent, Sabitha had an extremely hard time even letting her out of the small pen without getting attacked.
"Good day to you too," she told the trainer, her voice a bit stern, wondering if the trainer's parents had taught them an manners at all. As she approached to let fire type out, so the trainer could interact, the Sabitha heard the pokemon growl menacingly. The growlithe snapped at her hand, trying to bite at it, when she attempted to open the pen, and decided against it immediately. She looked at Mattlock, wondering if he was still willing to adopt her. "Ember is a lot to handle, young man. Are you sure you have what it takes?" she asked him. "Sasori here is much easier to train." She gestured the shuppet, who was moping around a little bit in the corner.

Mattlock smiled gently at the Growlithe and looked at the older woman. "Seems so...." he said, looking at the Shuppet with gentle eyes. He felt sorry for the poor thing, but his eyes went back to the Growlithe. "Have you ever asked her why she was this way? If...I could....speak to Ember....and see what was the matter." he said gently and looked at the fire type again with a soft smile. "Now, tell me what's on your mind Ember......why are you acting like this?" he asked quietly and calmly.
See, he was able to understand Pokespeech. So it should be simple to see what the puppy Pokemon's problem was.

<Get away, you don't really care.> The Growlithe snarled with a betrayed expression, snapping her fangs at Matthew in warning for acting so fake to her. Her fur was bristled up as she stared at the calm guy, finding that his peaceful nature was really pissing her off. The Shuppet looked at her with a rejected gaze, but at least understood why she was acting this way.
"A Growlithe whisperer, eh? Good luck." Sabitha mused, wanting to see this for herself before this guy filled out one of the forms. Why waste her time if Ember was just going to keep acting this violent and distrustful? Well she really did want to give her problem child some kind of a home, so she started to get the forms ready at the very least.
<You piss me off.> Ember added spitefully from behind the cage. <Go away, who needs you?> She barked hatefully, while the Shuppet only stared at her solemnly from outside of the cage. Sasori was much more tame, so Granny let him wander around as he pleased.

Mattlock listened to the Growlithe and tilted his head gently. "Who said I didn't care? If I didn't care, I wouldn't be here talking to you. Tell me what's really on your mind." he said gently to the Pokemon. He really wanted to help the poor thing. Glancing back over to the Shuppet, he gave a reassuring smile. But soon, he was back to looking at the Growlithe. "I want to help you, Ember."

You'll never understand. No one will!< The Growlithe continued to bark at the trainer as he tried to comfort her some more. Ember was still having abandonment issues, even though she did not like her previous trainer. She knew the real side to people, they only want a pokemon until they can exploit all they are worth and then they will leave to dry. Susan was that way, and so is this trainer even though he tries to act different. She quickly leaped forward and tried to bite Mattock right away before Sasori stopped her in her tracks with a screech that just missed her. >Don't do that...< She said before sighing again as he felt the worst from the departure as he really loved Susan with all of his heart. Ember quickly started to roar at the boy to get him away. >I don't want you here! Get the message! Leave me the fuck alone!< She snarled. ::Growlithe:: GTFO! | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; background: #000000; border: 3px double #ff922c; color: 990000]TAGGED: ... Mattlock looked at the Growlithe with serious eyes. "I won't understand? You and I are similar. My brother and I were left at an orphanage. I was abandoned too." he began, trying to get her to calm down. As the Shuppet protected Mattlock, he smiled at him softly. "Thank you Sasori." he said, giving a nod tot he Pokemon.
However, he would not give up on the Growlithe just yet. "I understand perfectly well how you feel. You feel abandoned and betrayed. Trust me Ember, I know what your going through." he gave a soft sigh. "When I was adopted, my brother and I were separated. Still to this day, I haven't reunited with him."
He looked at her again, his eyes full of a sadness that he hoped she could recognize. "I won't give up, Ember. I think you would make a nice addition to my family." he told her. It was the truth. He never treated his Pokemon as if they were slaves, but as family. The Pokemon battling and such was just away for them to exercise and grow. Other than that, he let them do whatever they wanted as long as they wouldn't get hurt.

The growlithe seemed to scoff at the male. <Don't pretend you know anything about me,> he said. <Don't pretend you understand me.> The pokemon had an almost murderous look in his eyes. He paced the pen a few times before letting out another snarl, snapping at the side of the cage. <You pretend you understand me, you pretend you know how I feel, but you're just another ignorant trainer. You can take your family and just shove it. I'm not interested.>
Things certainly didn't seem well. Sasori, on the side of the cage, watched with a certain jealousy. Of course the growlithe got all the attention. The joys of being a fire pokemon that everyone seemed to love. No. Love wasn't real. Love was just an imaginary thing people create to lie to themselves. He couldn't help but feel even more dejected, as all the trainers that walk into the pound barely cast her a second glance before zero-ing in on the growlithe. Was he not any good? He supposed he couldn't spit fire, but at least his temper wasn't as godawful as that of the growilthe. Oh Susan... why did she do this to them?
Sabitha placed a form onto the table. "If you fill this out, we can see what we're going to do about Ember," she said, placing a pen on top. She wasn't too sure if she could trust the fire type with anyone, without feeling responsible for anyone that pokemon might attack. She didn't know if Ember could ever change. If the trainer wished to use him for battle, or anything else, he would be sorely mistaken.
ooc; if you do ever adopt the growlithe and we feel that you are not roleplaying its personality, we will take it back, btw. So don't think you can spend perhaps two posts 'developing' him and getting away with it 8DD you'll be roleplaying a pokemon that doesn't listen to you and attacks women trainers mercilessly.

Mattlock sighed softly and looked at the elderly woman with a soft smile. "If she doesn't want to come with me, I can't force her.....It would be wrong of me." he said as he glanced at the Shuppet. The man stared at the Pokemon for sometime before looking at the woman. "The Shuppet looks more willing to join someone on their journey...." he told her. He wouldn't force a Pokemon into joining him if he didn't want to. Not at all.

The woman looked at the trainer, and then at the form that she had placed on the table.
So... did the trainer want to adopt or not?

Gideon started filling out the form, but instead of Growlithe he was doing it for Shuppet. He looked over at the Pokemon and smiled softly. If the Growlithe was there next time, he would attempt to adopt it then. But for now, he decided to go for the Shuppet. He wanted it to be happy.

::excadrill:: Sabitha looked at the form and instantly, her expression went dark. Was the trainer serious? The answers were all so... vulgar and insulting, the reasonings completely insensitive and unjustifiable. She wasn't sure how anyone would have the gall to fill a form out like that.
"I think you should leave," she said, crossing her arms. From a back room, a large, scary-looking pokemon walked over, in case a brawl was about to happen and he needed to defend his mistress. "You are not welcome in my home any more."

Mawi A Pokémon pound? This sounded like a perfect place for her and Mawi to find some new friends. She had a Bidoof, but she was so shy and timid. She figured, maybe there was a Pokémon in here whom she could bond with aside her Mawile, which she loved to death as it stood. “Mawi. What do you think?” She spoke softly as she stared at the entrance of the pound. Ma Mawile! <You’re the trainer! I wouldn’t mind a new friend, preferably one who isn’t a pushover!> Although Michi could not understand what the Mawile was saying, she couldn’t help but see she was alright with the idea. Who knows, there may be a Pokémon inside just suited for her. Michi opened the door, and Mawi walked in first looking at the different Pokémon. She saw a Growlith, one that seemed to have an attitude problem. She looked over to see a caged Shuppet, it was probably another ‘pushover’ she thought to herself, then she saw a Goldeen. A fish Pokémon? She would rather have it as dinner than a friend. Michi walked inside and spoke quietly. “Hello?” She would hope that whoever was in charge would personally introduce her to the Pokémon they have in stock. She wasn’t even sure what Pokémon here she could adopt, just that IF she could, she wanted to adopt one.

Granny Sabitha had the few Pokemon that needed homes out on display so that people that came in could see them and interact with them. Sometimes the Shuppet wandered out of his cage though if there was too much sunlight, and she didn't blame him. The poor dear had refused to see the light for the longest time, and he seemed to be in pain whenever she tried to cheer him up. The Growlithe needed food, and she had been fretting about how to feed this one.
"I have your food dearie, won't you try and eat?" Sabitha asked from the other side of the cage with a kind look to the fire type, but Ember kept growling defensively whenever Sabitha even got near her. The old woman trembled a little, but ultimately figured that the Pokemon was scared. Of what, she didn't know. All she knew was that the Growlithe hated females. She quietly opened the top of the cage with the food dish in her other hand, and Ember instantly started to buck against the cage walls then snapped at Sabitha's fingers.
"Ah!" She yelped, but she didn't get bit this time luckily. She dropped the food dish into the cage and it spilled all over the place, leaving Ember to eat it hungerly through all of her violent growls. The Goldeen in the back watched with mild interest at her old companions, but it couldn't be helped. Ember was Ember.
Right then, the girl and her Mawile entered and started to wander around, looking at the Pokemon inside. Sabitha forced a smile and walked over to personally greet them. "Ah, welcome to the Pound. I'm assuming you're here today to look around?" She asked professionally, allowing Michi the chance to interact with the Pokemon.

She couldn’t help but watch the events as they happened. That poor Growlith. She hadn’t seen many outside the local police station, but she knew they were very loyal Pokémon. For a Pokémon to act like this, it must have been something really bad that happened. Her mind flashes back to when she was watching over other peoples Pokémon. Sometimes the Pokémon would be left just to stay a few days, but end up being abandoned for months without any sign of the trainers return. She had always wondered where those Pokémon who had been abandoned had gone. This seems to be the answer to her question. This thought was enough to make her possibly adopt one, if the Pokémon were at all willing to give a trainer another chance at least.
"Ah, welcome to the Pound. I'm assuming you're here today to look around?" The lady who was tending to the pound spoke. She could sense she wasn’t very happy at the moment, taking care of troubled Pokémon could not be easy. “Yes mame, I would like to learn a little about each Pokémon you have. Could we start with that one you just tried to feed?” She asked curiously. Her tone was very respectful. She stared at the Growlith intently. Something really seemed off, was there really anything she could do?
Meanwhile Mawi starts wandering off. She walks over to where the Shuppet was hiding and smiles at it. <Hi!> She said in a happy voice. She seemed most intrigued with that single Pokémon for some odd reason.

Granny Sabitha was very glad that the girl was interested in learning about these poor Pokemon. Perhaps she would even be able to learn how to properly take care of the ones she already had just by seeing how cruel others could be. With a weary look, she understood that she was going to have to start with Ember's introduction. The Growlithe was still gulping up her food like a starving puppy, but she often looked up and showing her teeth in a frown to the pair. They reminded her too much of Susan, she wasn't going to deal with this now!
::growlithe::
"This is Ember, she was already very hateful by the time I brought her in. The trio were all from the same trainer, from what I could tell." She nodded to herself as she tried to think of where to begin. "Ember really doesn't like women at all. She's bit at my fingers so many times now." She started to rub her right hand, covered in band-aids with puncture marks on them. The Growlithe was both young and wild at heart now, and she had yet to figure out a way to tame her.
"She never listens to me. Not even reverse psychology works." She sighed, wishing something could be done about this pooch. She was so wild that she was afraid that they may have to put her down, especially if she kept attacking people like this. Moving onto the next one though.
::shuppet::
"This Shuppet is named Sasori, he's a very gentle Pokemon, but cold." How to word this, she wondered? Whenever she tried to cheer up Sasori, he always seemed unamused or not impressed. The ghost type seemed to give up on everything ever since his favorite human left him in the dust. "I believe he's very lonely, but he won't open up to anyone." She worried about the poor dear's condition, because sometimes he refused to even eat.
::goldeen::
"Aoi is the most behaved of the three, but she can't stand being placed in any place small. She's always been freedom loving, so I try to give her what she wants." She explained, looking over at the Goldeen that seemed not too satisfied about being on display in a fish bowl. She wasn't nearly as grumpy as Ember though, and she was more spirited than Sasori.

These poor Pokémon. It would seem all 3 have gone through some tough times, but she was curious about one thing. “And you say these three are from the same trainer? What was he or she like? Do you know enough so that I may understand what they had before that person brought them here? I’ve seen similar at my parents Pokémon Daycare when I was younger. I know how it feels to take care of Pokémon who feel completely abandoned.” She closed her eyes as she mentioned the last part. She once again flashed back to those days. The same Pokémon being taken care of for months and months. She didn’t think much of it back then, but she realized now how bad of effects they would have on the Pokémon. She glances down at Mawi, still trying to talk to the Shuppet she said was named Sasori. At this point, she decided the best solution would be to adopt whichever Pokémon would most be willing to give her at least a single chance, if any would be at all.

The shuppet did not seem too sure with the situation, being rather cautious in how she wanted to approach this pokemon. He knew the drill. They were going to look them all over, and then try to adopt Ember, just to be scared away. He looked at the pokemon without a word, simply staring.
"I have not met the trainer," Sabitha told Michi. It was a good thing, too. She would never have allowed a trainer to just give up all of her pokemon like that without a stern talking to and quite a wallop from her cane. Most trainers don't understand the implications of abandoning their pokemon. The initial bond when a pokemon allows the pokeball to overpower them is a powerful one, and really changes a creature. Sabitha was the one that had to deal with the aftermaths, once that bond is broken. "Here is the form," she continued, sliding a sheet of paper and a pen.
Which Pokémon do you want, and why do you want this particular Pokémon?
How many Pokémon do you currently have in your team?
Will you train or love this Pokémon?
Have you adopted recently? If so, how recent?
Do you understand that the nicknames are permanent?
