Seriously? Hitting him 6 times with a tackle (yes, bulbasaur was the kind of scientist who remembered such things) wasn't enough? He was beginning to really run out of strength now too. Besides, this battle was going on way too long. Even Leon was growing bored of the half devoured Weedle.
Bulbasaur tumbled over as he was hit by the others tackle. His own strength was weaker too, but he decided to give it one more try. He dashed forward in a last strong tackle!

Hit by Tackle. Fainted. Bulbasaur gains a level.
The Starly hissed when the Bulbasaur approached him, still feeling sore after his previous collision with the sturdy grass type. With a slow blink of his eyes, he tried to focus on moving out of the way. Moving to prove that he was worth something to the one that put him down so badly, but alas, that was not his destiny.
Crashed into at top speed, even if the Bulbasaur was getting weary after this long battle, it was more than enough to take the bird down. Letting out a weak chirp, the Starly showed no more signs of being conscious. If he was, then he simply lacked the energy to move.

Leon moved over to the two and lowered down at Bulbasaur. "Well done, you're stronger than I imagined." He stated proudly. Bulbasaur gleamed with pride and smirked.
"I wonder if I should catch the bird...He might not be as strong as you, but he could be a good scout." He considered. Bulbasaur couldn't help but agree. He nodded and watched as Leon took out an empty pokeball, tossing it at Starly to catch him.

It was a no-win situation for the little Starly. Weakly, it thrashed against the ball, using the last bit of it's energy to remain as nature intended. A slow, sad chip escaped it's beak. It was beaten.
... But wait. What was this? Suddenly an electrical charge surged through the pokeball, snapping the device in half. Starly blinked twice and crumpled to the ground. Sure it had fainted, but it was still free.
::starly:: Capture failed! Toss another ball?

Leon blinked. "Now what nonsense is this? First a defect pokedex, and now the pokeballs are failing too. I'm suspecting Professor Winter scammed me." He glanced with narrowed eyes at Bulbasaur.
"Well, better check if not all the pokeballs he gave me are duds." Leon sighed, tossing a second one.
OOC:: Oh great, I forgot about this...not like I have much money or pokeballs left....Stop picking on newbies T_T

Sphere snapped shut, this one seeming to have a better hold on Starly than the last. Small bird was far too weak to do anything beyond opening it's eyes, and thus it lay still in it's orb prison.
There was a sound like chimes, and red light faded from the button. Starly's prison sentence had officially begun.

Well this one worked. He'd never heard of pokeballs misbehaving like that. He bowed down and picked up the pokeball holding Starly. Next to it was a small berry that Starly had dropped upon fainting. "Maybe you're stronger than I imagined." Leon considered.
"But you're still the best, Bulbasaur." He said, taking pride in his grass type.

Bounce up. Bounce down. Bounce up. Bounce down. Occasionally bounce into a tree, This was all the Spoink knew, and all he did all day from morning until night. You'd think he would have gotten bored by now, but that wasn't the case. As he caught sight of Leon and his Bulbasaur, he tilted his head to one side, almost overbalancing on the spring that comprised the bottom half of his body. These figures awoke the piglet's natural curiosity, and he bounced closer, believing in his naivety that they would welcome his presence. >Hi! What's your name I'm Spoink. Where do you come from? Do you guys have pearls too? Do you like to bounce? Can you bounce higher than me? Have you seen any Berries that I canj eat? Do you have any Berries that I can eat? ::spoink::

::bulbasaur:: Now what was this thing?! He was clearly interrupting Bulbasaurs praise and attention.
>Not this bull again! You're loud. Obnoxious. And obviously NOT a poison type!< Bulbasaur roared loudly, pounding his feet into the ground in agitation.
Leon seemed mildly interested by the thing, though it was far too wild and uncontrolled for his taste. And...clearly not a poison type.
"Fascinating. Spoink. Now, excuse us." He commented, trying to stay polite. "We're looking for poison type pokemon. Do you happen to have seen any?" He questioned the Spoink.
>Yah! Better answer that!< Bulbasaur added grumpily.

<Eh? Poison types you say? Well, I'm not sure but I have seen some today, or was it yesterday? Or the day before. Not sure. But I'm sure there are some around, if you high and low and far and wide. Also, do you have any food?> The Spoink rambled. The Spoink was clearly hyper and didn't really care about what the Trainer was looking for. <You know that there are many of my friends around here! Yes yes, you knew that right? If you didn't I'm surprised!> The Spoink just wouldn't be quiet, rambling on and on about useless things. It was a wonder how anyone could be friends with this.
::spoink:: Is yapping too much.

Leon was cautious. Bulbasaur wasn't in perfect shape from the battle, and this other seemed to be a Psychic type pokemon. Which meant he was strong against Bulbasaur's poison type. They had best avoid this battle.
"Bulbasaur." Leon said strictly. "Ignore it, if you please. We have more pressing matters at hand, such as seeking poison type pokemon." Leon reminded Bulbasaur.
So Bulbasaur nodded and did his best to ignore the bouncing Spoink that followed them. >Okay boss. Let me try and sniff out a poison pokemon again< He stated, raising his head in the nose.

The Spoink was now talking to himself until he noticed the Trainer leaving. He bounced after him and yelled, <Hey wait!! What if I know of a place where Poison Pokemon live? I'm sure that will help some, or maybe not, I'm not sure now.> The Spoink started rambling again until he caught himself. <What if I told you one of my friends was a poison type? Huh? Huh? Huh?>

Bulbasaur stopped and narrowed his eyes. >Maybe. But I'm not trusting you! I'll give you a berry if you bring us to this poisonous friend of yours. And no tricks!< He demanded.
Leon noticed his Bulbasaur had stopped and was discussing with the Spoink. What were they going on about?

The Spoink happily jumped into the bushes. Some noises were then.
<HEY! GET OFF ME!> <No no no!! Come with me please!> <I SAID GET OFF ME NUT JOB!> <NO! Please come with meee!>
Then the Spoink came out of the bushes dragging a Oddish out with him. He plopped the Oddish in front of the Trainer then held out his paws. <Berry now please!> He said happily.
The Oddish looked up at the Spoink and scowled. What in the world was she doing here? All she wanted was a nap then BAM! Someone was dragging her here!

::bulbasaur::
Bulbasaur was not impressed. >This Oddish isn't your friend. I said you'd get a berry if you took me to your /friend/.< Bulbasaur replied calmly, adding a nasty smirk.
Leon was very interested in the Oddish. My my, what were the odds of Spoink dragging out a poison type? (what the hell did he know?) He examined the frustrated Oddish with great interest. "What a fine specimen!" He complimented. "Such healthy leaves and a moist body." He mused on merrily, not seeming bothered by the fight Spoink and Bulbasaur were having.

The Spoink frowned. <but but but, you promised!> He whined. He wanted his berry! He crossed his little paws and pouted. <Meanie.> He said and turned his back. Then, quickly turning back he begged. <PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!>
The Oddish was started to go away but then she heard the complement from the Trainer. She turned back and bowed. <Why thank you.> She said. She loved her complements about herself, it helped herself grow....well, her ego at least.

Bulbasaur was getting really annoyed. >No! I promised you got the berry if you brought us to your /friend/.< He repeated. >Now, you'd better get out of my sight before I decide to do something really nasty with your ball.< He threatened.
Leon was fascinated by the Oddish. It had been his second pick for a starter, after Bulbasaur. He had to have this one! "My name is Leon, I'm an expert on poison type pokemon." He explained the Oddish, who seemed charmed by him. "Your addition to my party would greatly help my investigation." He added with a little smile.
He adjusted his glasses while he waited for Oddish' reaction. It could go either way; Oddish would join him freely, or be forced to after a battle. Of course he hoped the first. It was better to have a partner than a slave. Leon hoped that Oddish also realized that his Bulbasaur was nasty enough to not take 'no' for an answer.

What a nasty, deceptive little Pokemon. Although Spoink was at a level to know Psywave, he wasn't sure whether he should use it yet. What if it ruined his chances of getting a Berry. >Not fair! Not fair not fair not fair not fair!< Spoink's bouncing became erratic as he splashed around the Bulbasaur, Leon and Oddish, crying out in indignation for the Berry he had been denied. Oddish seemed a little torn by the offer. >I dunnoooo... I can't think with this guy bouncing around me|!< Oddish glared at the Spoink, who was still bouncing around as though he owned the place. ::oddish::

Bulbasaur became covered in mud and dirt. And so did Leon. Now this was getting really bothersome. Leon surveyed the situation. Bulbasaur was about to snap and attack. But Leon knew he was weakened by the fight with Starly.
So he decided to do the sensible thing here. He took out the Oran Berry and lowered down to Spoink, carefully keeping it out of his reach.
"Listen up you. You're getting this berry, but in return you leave us alone. We have important things to discuss with Oddish." He warned the Spoink, only giving him the berry after he nodded and agreement to these terms.

Spoink Takes Oran Berry and Leaves
<Berry? Why, thank you. You're so kind. You have a nice Bulbasaur too. I'm so glad I'm friend with him. He makes me happy and giggly.> The Spoink laughed as he hopped up and claimed the Oran Berry as his own. For some odd reason, he winked at the Oddish, to her horror, before hopping away. Even if that wink had frightened her quite a bit, she found herself much more at ease now that it was quiet.
<Now. About your offer. I only go with the best of trainers. The best. I refuse to go with a mere newbie.> She had enough time to think about her demands already, even if she herself was not one of the strongest Pokemon in the area.
<If you have 4 Pokemon with you, I bet I'd feel more inclined to come along.> She hinted, letting her beautiful green leaves waver in the gentle caress of the wind. It was a nice day, actually. Despite the clouds in the sky, the sun was peaking through just enough to keep her in a good mood.
