"What nonsense is this!? The second broken pokeball I've had today. That professor Winter sure gave me faulty equipment." He growled. He didn't have a lot of money to buy items. Great. What a good start of the journey. He ran his hands through his hair and remembered the Premier Balls he had been given earlier. He tried again, this time with a Premier Ball!

OOC: Is the pokeball really broken or can I use it again?

::weedle:: Pokemon battle ! Weedle did not have the energy to attempt to dodge the next pokeball, and chose to simply turn his head to avoid puncturing the hard shell with his horn. He was sucked inside by the sphere, and while he was tough and headstrong, he didn't really feel like trying to break out. In fact, he really needed a nap. Fatigue overriding all other needs, the worm fell asleep and allowed the ball to complete capture.
You caught a Weedle!

Leon came forward and bend down, picking up the Premier Ball holding his new salsa dancing Weedle. Bulbasaur sat at his feet, looking up at him as he waited for praise. But Leon was far too busy making notes. "Poison sting...." He muttered. Finally, a second poison type pokemon! And finally something going his way, too.

A young Whismur stumbled down the path, sniffling slightly. It wasn't fair. Her little brother got everything, absolutely everything, and her parents just seemed to overlook her. Well, she wouldn't stand for that!
<I'm running away!> she announced to the two older Whismur, who merely gave her an uninterested look before turning their attention back to the baby they were crooning over. Her mother was certain she'd be back, and her father was much too preoccupied with his new son to be of much use. He had always wanted a boy, and now that he'd gotten what he wanted at last, well...
Poor female Whismur.
Though she'd been emitting only quiet sniffles, when she turned around to head back home, she couldn't see her parents any longer. (They were merely concealed by some thick brush, but she had no way of knowing that. <O-Oh no!> she squealed. <I've gone too far and gotten lost, and... and...>
Unable to face the thought, she burst into tears, emitting a noise which resembled a cross between a pig's squeal and a mournful wail. It was certainly loud enough to hurt the ears of those nearby.

::Starly:: Starly swooped down from the trees. The foolish bird announced that he had located a Weedle. To which Bulbasaur replied a >No need, we caught one. /I/ caught one. Well, Leon threw the ball of course.< He said, determent to give himself praise, if Leon would not.
Leon nearly dropped his newly acquired pokeball when the sound hit him. "My god, what is that?!" He asked. Starly and Bulbasaur were both stunned momentarily as well. It was Starly who made the first move, flying between the trees to locate the sound.
>Hey. Hey. Why are you crying, sweety?< She asked the little Whismur.

The Whismur sniffed and blinked sadly at the Starly, wondering why this bird cared about her more than her own parents. Had her life really come down to this, this pathetic excuse for an existence? The thought was so saddening that she choked on a sob, bringing the Uproar to a strangled halt. There was no need to injure the ears of this belovedly kind bird.
<W-Well, I...> Should she really be telling the Starly she didn't know her way back? The femme seemed nice enough, but could this be a ruse? There was always room for trickery. She'd seen plenty of sneaky Pokemon lure prey toward them with loving words and whatnot.
<I'm lost,> she admitted anyways, wiping the tears from her eyes with a shaky hand. <M-My parents made me angry, so I ran away, and now I don't know where I am!> Her voice was incredibly distressed as she said this, and more fat tears started to roll down her cheeks. She was no longer wailing, however, and this was surely a relief to all of the Pokemon on the route who'd cringed at the initial sound.

::Starly:: >Ran away? My dear, you're far too young to be running off on your own. There's all sorts of nasty beasts out-< Starly stopped as a particular nasty beast came thumping into view. >Whats all this whimpy crying and fussing about?!< He hissed, narrowing eyes on the Whismur. >That really hurt my ears you know!< He raged on. Then Leon came stomping out of the bushes after the two. "There you two are. Whats that?" He asked, leaning in to get a better look at Whismur. >Don't worry, he's quite alright.< Starly promised Whismur, referring to Leon. Then in a quiet voice, he pointed a wing feather at Bulbasaur. >It's HIM you need to look out for. He called me fat. I'm not fat, am I?< Starly asked worried.

Whismur nodded slightly, her lip quivering as she silently agreed to the Starly's gentle reprimand. <I-I know,> she sniffed, tears still managing to flow even though she was doing her very best to hold them in. <I j-just got angry with them and I didn't know what to do, and... well...> And well, now she was on the path crying to a bird that she'd scarcely met a minute before.
What a life.
And then he came along. A lumbering, grouchy, terrifying beast that made Whismur emit a shrill wail before jumping backward in alarm. <I-I'm sorry!> she stammered in apology, when he accused her of hurting his ears. <I didn't m-mean to, honestly I->
She was not afraid of the trainer, just the Bulbasaur, but she cut off when she heard the bird yet again. <Fat?> she echoed, surprised out of her crying fit. <You're not fat!>

Leon seemed fascinated by the little Whismur. He leaned down and sketched her in his notebook. Starly looked smug. >See?! I'm not fat.< She claimed to Bulbasaur. He outed a low >Pfff...Only because she's also fat!< He cried noisily.
Starly frowned. >Brute. Now how about I show you back home?< She asked sweetly, flying off and scouting the area for the rest of the Whismur family.

Of course, the Whismur family was a bush over, and had heard this entire exchange. Whether or not the Starly could see them, however, depended on if she expected them to be this close; it would have been easy to overlook the trio of Pokemon should she have been looking afar. Despite the young female’s belief that they did not care, the father was waiting, should anything try to attack. He would protect his daughter, after she’d had her little adventure. The momma Whismur was still cooing over the male infant, though she was giggling softly.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the shrub, the little Whismur’s eyes began to water even more as she looked at the horrible Bulbasaur. <I’m fat? Am I really?> Her gaze turned to Leon; it was clear that his answer determined whether or not she would begin to cry again.

Leon, as expected, had no idea what the fuss was about. He'd made a drawing of the Whismur. One that was a little overly flattering. Not fat at all.
::Starly:: Then Starly returned. >I found your family. Come on, I'll show you.< She offered, leading the way through the sky to where the other Whismurs were. Bulbasaur followed them lazily. What a bunch of nonsense, helping babies like that.
Starly landed near the Whismur family. >Hello, I found your little girl.< He offered with a smile and a little bow.

Whismur actually blushed a little as she caught sight of the very flattering drawing. She wasn't fat, oh how relieving! Quite cheerful now, nowhere nearly as upset as she'd been when she left, her anger toward her parents had all but dissolved. They could have their stupid baby. He was chubby, and she wasn't fat at all. Young Whismur's grin practically lit up her features, and she completely ignored the irritable Bulbasaur now.
Starly then returned, exclaiming that she'd found her family. <Oh, goody!> Whismur cheered, following eagerly.
When Starly informed the family of the find, both parents exchanged looks of bemusement. It really hadn't been that hard to find her, but even still, the trained Pokemon had been kind enough not to attack her. <Thank you,> Whismur's mother said, her tone genuine. <Now, what could we give in return...?>
They were big believers in rewards for kindness. Suddenly, the father appeared from behind a tree with a red and white, sphere-shaped object. <We found this lying under a bush one day. Might you like to have it? It's of no use, lying around here...>

>Well good luck, little girl. I'm sure you'll grow up big and strong. Well, not too big of course.< Starly said as she laughed. Then she tilted her head curiously as she was offered the pokeball. >Oh thank you, if I bring this to my trainer, I'm sure he'll be proud of me!< She said cheery, taking the ball in her claw. Then she flew up and chirped happily at the girl before heading back to where Leon and Bulbasaur were.
She fluttered down to Leon and dropped the pokeball in his hands.
Leon blinked and looked it over. "Oh, thanks Starly." He added. It was a bit dirty but seemed functional. He rubbed it clean and checked if there was anything inside.

Open further inspection, the Pokeball would prove to be empty. However, the red and white capsule was entirely functioning, probably dropped by some carefree trainer on their way down the route. Other than a scratch on the side of it from having fallen, it was in good condition, and could definitely be used to capture a future member of Leon's team.
Though partially hidden by underbrush, there was a small pond just off the path that might have been of interest to the new trainer. Giggling could be heard emanating from said direction, as if certain Pokemon were at play. The not-quite-dead foliage that still clung to the essence of fall made it impossible to tell what sort of Pokemon awaited - but if Leon wanted to check it out, it wouldn't be hard to find.
Further up the route, however, a dragging, scuffling sound could be heard. Every now and then, this sound would be interrupted with a huff, as if something was being hauled, and the carrier was starting to feel a little worse for wear.
And lastly, a squabbling from just beneath a nearby tree made several Pidgey burst from the branches in alarm. Could that possibly be a fight...?
Investigate any of these, or move on?

Leon finished cleaning the pokeball and pocketed it carefully, not wanting to be as carefree as it's last owner.
::Bulbasaur:: >NOISY!< Bulbasaur demanded, stomping ahead to check out what was happening. Really, who was training who here? There was nothing left to do for Leon but follow his Bulbasaur to investigate the sounds. Really, why hadn't he gotten the Oddish from Professor Winter? He was feeling really scammed by the Professor. 2 broken pokeballs. A broken pokedex. And a rude, wild, insane Bulbasaur.

The scuffling the the bushes grew even louder, as the bushes themselves began to shake violently. Squeals and squabbles were growing louder and louder. Suddenly, the bushes shuddered and broke down as two Pokemon had taken their fight atop the now poor crushed bush. They seemed to be in an argument. One was a Shroomish, his eyes angry as he began to chastise the Rattata that stood opposite of her. Between them was an Oran Berry that seemed to be the cause of their argument. Shroomish was holding on to the berry at one side in his hands while the Rattata was clutching the other side of the Oran Berry with his claws. They were in some kind of tug-of-war between each other as they fought for the Oran Berry. <It's mine! I found it first!">the Shroomish squealed indignantly, tugging the Berry towards himself.<Liar! I saw it first! So it's rightfully mine!>Rattata retorted, digging his claws into the Berry. The two Pokemon didn't seem to register that a Trainer was in their presence. Shroomish and Rattata have appeared. The two Pokemon are fighting. Ignore or confront?

Bulbasaur's eyes narrowed. Then he spotted the berry and instantly decided it was his property. Not even Leon's "Don't!" Could stop him from breaking out in a tackle and snatching the Berry from the two of them, swallowing it whole.
"Oh, I feel much better." He decided. While two Growlithe are fighting for a bone, a third runs away with it ... Or a Bulbasaur who eats it, in this case. [[Bulbasaur healed using Oran Berry]]
>Oh dear...< Starly muttered. She really wasn't looking forward to this fight. Leon seemed prepared. This would clearly turn into an all out battle. He quickly used a Potion on Weedle's pokeball to make sure he was ready for a fight. Even though he might not be so keen on protecting Bulbasaur (who ever was?). [[Used potion on Weedle!]]

The two Pokemon had been so caught up in fighting that it took them a few seconds to notice that a Bulbasaur had taken their Oran Berry that they had fought so hard for. Shock.... The Shroomish was the first to explode after the period of speechlessness. <Hey! Who do you think you are stealing that Oran Berry!>he said, flailing his arms in an angry manner. The Rattata glared at the Bulbasaur with hateful eyes. <You bully! You're going to regret taking my Oran Berry,>he growled with indignation, fur starting to bristle. The two Wild Pokemon seemed to be calling a truce to take down the Bulbasaur. Both suddenly spotted a Trainer standing behind the Bulbasaur, which made them even more angry. <Hey! You're a Poke-pet!>Shroomish said, with a slight sneering tone in his voice. He had made up that nickname for Pokemon who obey Trainers. <Tch, no wonder. Poke-pets are spoiled. Stupid enough to let themselves be ordered around,>the Rattata added with a mean laugh. <We can beat you! Too easy!>Shroomish said confidently, glaring at the Trainer with a challenging glint in his eyes. Rattata and Shroomish are challenging you to a battleAccept?

>PET POKEMON?< This outraged Bulbasaur. >You misunderstand, you fatso. He's my Pet-human.< Bulbasaur corrected. >NO-ONE orders me around.< He added.
When he was challenged to fight, Bulbasaur did not decline. His honor had been hurt, and he would make sure it was corrected.
Leon saw the attack coming and released the freshly caught and healed Weedle from it's pokeball. If it got stronger, it would evolve into a Beedril, which would be a useful addition to his team.
::Weedle:: >Oh...I need to help that moron?< Weedle inquired. Oh great. He rolled his eyes and decided to take on the Rattata, who looked the weakest of the two. He launched a small barrage of poisonous stings at the rat. [[Weedle used Poison Sting on Rattata!]]
Bulbasaur turned to the Shroomish. He was glad of the help, but would never admit that, ofcourse. He knew far too well that Shroomish could poison, stun and what not. [[Bulbasaur used Safeguard!]] Then he scraped the ground like an angry bull before tackling the Shroomish with a loud >TAKE THAT, FATSO!<. [[Bulbasaur used Tackle at Shroomish!]]

Rattata let out a challenging growl, facing the Weedle with glaring eyes. However, the Rat Pokemon was taken aback by the Weedle's speed as the Poison stings hit their mark. Rattata let out a squeal of pain as the rain of needles punctured his flesh, feeling the wounds burn as they were coated with poison. The pain ebbed away slowly and Rattata shook his head to clear it. <You've done it now!>Rattata hissed. Crouching, he glared at the Weedle, pinpointing where to strike the little worm. Eyes directed at the middle, the Rat Pokemon careened forward and tried to ram into the Bug Pokemon Hit by Poison Sting Rattata used Tackle on Weedle<Wha? Suddenly, the Bulbasaur rammed into the Shroomish. The impact sent the little Grass Pokemon flying a few feet away. Shroomish landed back onto the ground on his side, letting out a yelp of pain as he rolled a few feet more. Stiffly, he got back onto his feet, shaking dust off him and feeling a bit battered. <Take this!>he shouted as he ducked his head to aim a cloud of orange spores that spewed out towards the Bulbasaur.
