The Poliwag was, once again, hit by the Psywave attack, feeling the move push him backwards, feeling his insides seemingly shudder by the attack. Poliwag involunatarily shuddered as the attack faded, uncomfortable by the feeling of being hit by such a move. Still a bit groggy by the Psywave attack, he felt the Mantyke's Tackle barrel into him, the impact sending him flying a few feet and landing back into the water. The nerve of them!He popped back to the surface, clearing away the dizzyness, feeling slightly bruised but with enough energy to fight. <Is that all you got?>he taunted with a sneer. Gathering up his energy, the Poliwag administered another Bubble attack, directed towards the Mantyke. Take out the weaker one first. Hit by Psywave and TackleUsed Bubble on Squirt

As the Mantyke slammed into the spiteful tadpole's stomach like an oversized dart on a bullseye, Poliwag hissed and tried to smack the Mantyke away, her playful attitude to the fight annoying the Poliwag- who had never been able to take a bit of light hearted fun well. As the Pokeball enveloped her, she struggled powerfully against the sphere, and since she was still feeling healthy enough, the sphere opened up once again, revealing a very pissed and slightly tired tadpole standing on the shore. Fortunately for Xerian the Pokeball was still usable, rolling back to her feet as the Poliwag stared at Squirt, eyes glowing white around the rims as she murmured. >Go to sleeeep, you little brat!< under her breath. ::poliwag:: Capture failed. Poliwag is weakening. Poliwag used Hypnosis. [/B]

a rather I M P R O M P T U reunion
A small growl left Xerian's throat as the hypnosis washed over Mantyke who rolled sleepily in the water. <Just five more minutes, mommy....> she muttered dozily as her eyes closed and a gentle snoring emanated from her throat. Shoat bounced uneasily for a moment, unsure what to do.
"Hey, shortstuff. You're not going to let that Poliwag get the better of you, are you?"
Xerian paused for a moment, unsure as to whether she was hearing things. She must have been. He'd stayed in Sinnoh when she traveled to Cheyenne. There was no way that the voice she was hearing was his. Nah, probably just some jumped up route trainer who was trying to psych her out. "I've got it under control, thank you very much," she spat out bitterly as she ordered Shoat to attack again. "Once more, Shoat. Psywave!"
"Well, it sure looks as though you have," the tall red head strode up alongside the shorter and patted her on the hair, ruffling her long, copper tresses in the process. Xerian huffed. He wasn't really here. This was actually some sort of strange, bizarre, very very real feeling dream. Yes, that was it.
"You're not real. Go away."
"I'm not real? Guess I missed that memo, little one."
Only Lysander would repeatedly make digs at her short stature. She turned her head slowly, eyes widening as they settled on her older brother, taking in just how different he seemed from the last time she had seen him.
"Are you following me?" The comment just slipped out.
"Would I do that? No no, you just get on with your little battle. We can catch up afterwards."
Lysander parked himself upon a nearby treestump and withdrew a smooth pokémon egg from his bag. He rested it in the crook of his knee and stroked it soothingly as he waited to watch how his sister would play out the rest of this battle.

Hahaha! Take that you stupid little thing! the poliwag thought to himself, satisfied that he'd knocked the thing out of commission, even if it was only temporarily. As he burst from the water, landing back on the shore once more with a triumphant cry of joy, that small tadpole saw yet another human showed up. The two looked kind of similar, were they maybe related? The little poliwag really couldn't tell, all humans looked pretty much the same to him after all the ugly things. Regardless memories of his own past welled up in him, bringing a slight grin to his face as he thought back to then. Hatching from his egg with all his brothers and sisters, playing around, exploring, having a good time, until the trainers had arrived. Catching his family, separating them forever. Didn't humans have hearts? How would they feel if their families were broken apart? <I'll show y -- ack!> Stumbling back, the poliwag felt the last of his strength begin to fail, even as he sent a burst of bubbles towards the red haired human. It was a shame he didn't have any more powerful attacks, but it would have to do. Collapsing the tadpole felt himself on the verge of losing consciousness. That stupid pig! Scowling at the piglett he tried to retaliate, but found himself unable to move as all his focus was directed to just staying conscious. ::poliwag:: Hit by Psywave! Poliwag sent a very malicious Bubble attack towards Xerian!

Poliwag laughed as the Bubbles soaked Xerian, glad to see the red head agitated just as she was. She wasn't so amused, however, when the Net Ball that had missed before was kicked towards her, and with a snarl off fury, she was hit on the head by the Pokeball. Reeling back, she was sucked into the specialist Pokeball before her spherical body hit the pond. She tried to escape it once again, but her previous struggle had weakened her, and the fact that this was specifically designed for Water and Bug Types didn't help either. Ugh. All this because she'd told that annoying baby to get out of her pond. What a day.... Ping! ::poliwag::

Retrieving the ball now housing the nasty Poliwag, Xerian pondered on a name as she patted the adorable little Caterpie on the head lightly. Momentarily, she had forgotten she had asked the little bug to get onto her shoulder to keep him out of harms way. She set him down on the ground and knelt before him. "So what about you, little one? If you wanted, you can come along with me... or I guess you could join my brother. We'd keep you comfy and safe. Or we can find you somewhere comfortable so you can take a nap if you'd like."
Lysander smiled softly. Something about his sister had changed. She'd always sought to get out of her family's limelight in Sinnoh... had come here to start her own journey away from the fame of being her mother's daughter. He had always known her to be tough, constantly fighting to be herself in a world of famous relatives. Yet, seeing her here... he'd never realised that she had the kindness needed to go far in the world of pokémon. There was a sort of empathy with pokémon that he had never seen in his sister before; yet at the same time... she seemed stronger in spirit. Whether she realised this or not, Lysander couldn't be sure.
"You've changed, kiddo," he said, shifting the egg into his arms as he rose and moved to kneel beside his sister, eyeing the caterpie up as he did so.
"That's what happens when you set out on your own."
Lysander felt slightly ashamed. Had she set out on her own because he had all but abandoned her to live the life of a trainer. He rested a hand on her shoulder. Xerian said nothing. Everything was back as it should be. Lysander was with her. She didn't need anything else. Returning Shoat and Squirt to their balls, she knelt in silence and waited.
Extended offer to Caterpie. Go with Xerian, Go with Lysander or find somewhere comfortable for a nap? (ooc// or leave, whatever XD)

Caterpie watched the exchange with interest from the girl's shoulder, eyes going between boy and girl. Where they brother and sister? They certainly looked alike enough. And they had that air of sibling rivalry between them that only reinforced his thoughts. With a second surprised squeak, he was plucked from the Trainer's shoulders and placed on the ground. Looking at the expectant gazes of both humans, he felt a little put on the spot. First of all, he went to the clear stream for a drink of water, sipping it carefully, not leaning too far in in case he toppled into the water and got soaked (or drowned, knowing his luck lately). He slithered over to Xerian and nuzzled against her foot affectionately, looking up at her with big black eyes. >I wanna go with you,< he squeaked softly. She was his rescuer after all. ::caterpie:: Caterpie agrees to join Xerian.

Caterpie Waltz{ Caterpie } Pokeball Used
<Hehe, you won't be the only one protecting someone. Just wait, I'll be like a knight when I grow up.> He nodded his head towards Xerian, pleased that they made a deal with each other. Why, it almost felt as if they were giving him a 'coming of age' ceremony just be bringing him along with them.
It reminded him of the ones his older brothers had, where their parents would take the entire family out to a very special area deep in the route. The first time he went there felt like yesterday, but it was really only a week ago. His older siblings were all aligned on a variety of rocks, with the full moon shining over them. Then one by one, he watched them evolve into Metapods. It was such a fascinating thing, and he couldn't help but feel excited each time he thought about it.
Someday, he nodded to himself, he would be a Metapod. Then he'd be as cool as his dad! Flying all over the trees! It was his dream for the time being, and couldn't imagine anything more that made life worth living. With an excited chirp, his nose pressed against the button on the Pokeball, eagerly getting sucked inside and did not put up a hint of a fight.

Caterpie felt the soft, painless impact of the Pokeball touching his head and smiled as he felt the welcoming, warm darkness of the Pokeball envelop him, making him its dweller. Yes, this was his new home. With this kind rescuer who only wanted the best for him. He had seen the affection for him in her eyes. This is what he had always wanted. But he had never thought he would obtain it as a weak little Caterpie. The Pokeball barely even shook before the light dimmed and the chime sounded, signalling a successful capture. This was Caterpie's new home now, and he would cherish it forever. ::caterpie:: You caught Caterpie Level: 7 Gender: Male Ability: Shield Dust Attacks: String Shot. Tackle. Personality: Warm. Loving. Xerian gave her brother a beaming smile as she clipped the newly captured Caterpie to her waist. Lysander couldn't help but give a small chuckle. As far back as he could remember, Xerian had always had a love of butterflies. Now she'd get to train one herself. And it seemed this Caterpie was already protective over its new trainer.
"You've not changed... much," he said, rising to his feet and snuggling the egg closer to his chest. Maybe it was just his imagination, but he was sure he felt the temperature of the egg rise a little. Perhaps it was getting a little closer to hatching?
"Neither have you, really. Though, you look a little different. What happened to your eye?"
"Knives are bad, mkay? Make sure you carry them blade side downwards and don't jab them in peoples faces. Bad things happen."
Xerian didn't know whether to laugh or look mortified and so hovered somewhere inbetween. Lysander let out a short, bark-like laugh at her expression. "It's okay, shortstuff. I can no longer see out of that eye... but those sorts of experiences change people. If it hadn't happened, I probably wouldn't have gone home to find you gone... and then followed you here, after all."
"Sand... where is Ember?"
Lysander felt a pang of guilt at the name. Ember had been his companion since he could walk. His mother had bred her specifically to take care of him as he grew up. She had been a loving, loyal partner; one he could never see himself apart from. And yet he had given her to his dad upon his defeat. "I challenged father to a battle... You know that rule we always had... that if we lost to mother or father, we would have to hand our pokémon over to them? ... father won."
He missed Ember alot. Terribly, infact. Part of him wished he had never challenged their father in the first place. He missed the rest of his team too. His fire Pokémon. They had made one hell of a team; but Ember was far more special to him.
"I'm sorry. He'll take good care of her, you know that. I left Evri with mother when I left, so I can sort of understand how you feel."
The siblings fell silent, both reflecting on how they missed their first ever pokémon, gifted to them when they could barely walk. So lost in their own thoughts, were they, that they didn't take much notice of exactly what was going on around them.

Ring the Bellsprout { Bellsprout } Derpin
{ Bellsprout } Herpin
<Come on, buddy! You can go it! We gotta win this!> A loud, masculine voice shouted at the top of his lungs, waving a cheerful leaf around in the air as his companion trembled upon a dead log. It was part of their new super secret training program for the Poke Olympics, which a bunch of their friends were participating in in less than a week. The Bellsprout jumped up and down, getting way too excited as his friend took another brave step on the log, trying his very best to keep his balance while his friend shouted.
<We've been training for years and years and years! Ages! Centuries! Eras!> He cried dramatically, hopping up on the log himself in order to give his buddy some more encouragement. <You're so slow, you're gonna slow me down in the 3 leg race!> He exclaimed, giving his friend a swift shove on the log.
<W-w-whoaaaaaa!> Thud. The 'in-training' Bellsprout fell right onto the ground, a bit out of breath as his older friend sighed in disbelief.
<Come on, you're always so clumsy! You should just rush ahead! Like the wind! Touch the stars! Like...mwa.> He chuckled, winking at his fallen friend, who rubbed his head in annoyance. Yet he was the quiet one, and tended to never interrupt his much more confident friend.

It was with an almost comedic realization that the siblings turned slowly towards the source of noise closeby, their faces awash with wonder at just what pokémon was bellowing and making so much noise. Something was nearby... but what?
Xerian moved first, trotting towards the area she thought the sounds had come from, her light sapphire eyes alighting upon two bellsprout, one of which looked as though it had just tumbled over. Her face lit up. Grass pokémon! Ohhhhh she loved grass types. After all... her team literally DEMANDED grass types (in her mind at least).
Lysander caught up, clutching his luke-warm pokémon egg to his chest so as to prevent dropping it as he moved. He almost laughed at the scene before him, his mind working fast to process what might have happened.
"Well, well. What have we here?" he asked, not unkindly for he didn't exactly want to frighten the two grass pokémon near the log. "How about we get some training in with these two fellas?"
"What? What if that bellsprout is hurt?"
"I don't think it's hurt."
Xerian pondered his words for a moment. Training would be nice. She could even use her latest edition to her team, couldn't she? "Okay... Dyeus... centre-stage!" The ball flew from her hand, the tiny insect pokémon inside revealed in a shimmer of red light. Dyeus unfurled, eyeing the two bellsprout carefully.
<Oh oh. Is this the start of my knight training?> he asked excitedly.
"That it is, Dyeus." she patted her caterpie softly on the head and turned to her brother with a look that said clearly pick your partner.
Lysander grinned. He hadn't actually expected her to take him up on the offer, what with the chance that the bellsprout had injured itself in its fall. However, he unclipped a ball from his belt and released the inhabitant with a flourish of pokéball. "Aibell, take to the stage."
The little Igglybuff gave a happy squeal as she appeared in the crimson light, her eyes brimming with excitement.
"So, little bellsprout. Care to train with us?"

The two Bellsprouts looked up. <Excuse me but we're in the middle of a race here!> The one said angrily. The other one just whimpered and lifted a root. <Well, we weren't winning anyways, why not stop for a bit and train?> The other flashed a stare at him. <We will get second place at least!> The Bellsprout whimpered. <But, come on old buddy old friend old pal! Just one? We do need help....> he said quietly. The other one thought for a second, then sighed. Untiring the two legs they stepped out of the knot. <Fine, but just a little one. We were, after all, ahead of everyone.> he said proudly. The other one rolled his eyes, either they were ahead or everyone else passed them. (Most likely the second one)

Dyeus and Aibell glanced at each other with looks of uncertainty; neither had battled in a double battle before, let alone alongside another trainer's pokémon.
"Ladies first."
Xerian gave him a look before calling out Dyeus's turn. "Dyeus, string shot and then tackle the bellsprout on the left!"
Dyeus shot forth a string of sticky goo before ambling forwards as fast as he could to attempt to bowl the grass type over. Aibell watched intently, waiting patiently for her own turn. "Aibell, sing!"
Aibell opened her mouth and let loose a string of lulling musical notes that drifted on the breeze and made to wrap themselves around the second bellsprout to drag it into the depths of slumber. The siblings waited for a counter attack, Lysander absentmindedly caressing his pokémon egg as he waited.

Ring the Bellsprout { Bellsprout } (Speed -1) Hit by Tackle Uses Growth
{ Bellsprout } Sing Misses Uses Vine Whip on Caterpie (And some string shot)
<Oh, ho ho. My pupil. Just watch and learn as the master does his thing.> The leading Bellsprout paraded in front of the second one, wiggling a leaf in front of him as if he was doing things wrong again. The second could only watch in wonder as he let out a loud, obnoxious battle cry as the String Shot completely covered his body. You would've thought that he would've at least tried to dodge the Tackle, or cut away at the stings, but he kept shouting. Really loud. At least he shut up when the Caterpie knocked him down, grunting from the blow.
<I...I didn't really see the point of that.> The second one sighed, watching the rather comical scene occur. Seeing that the Caterpie was on his friend, and his friend was uselessly using a spirit boosting Growth, he decided to lend a vine. One to snap some of the string off of his companion, while another weak whip was lashed out at the Caterpie.
<See?! My amazing loud voice totally helped you out.> The first Bellsprout stood up, making a disgusted face as some of the string was still stuck on his body.
<I still don't see...> The second began, but then he pointed a leaf over at the pink thing.
<See? It was using mind control powers on you. See how innocent it is in the background? It was doing that for a reason. A reason, I say!> He exclaimed, though the smarter, quieter one remained doubtful. Ok, then...

Dunno if I can post this here seeing as it's not a weekend and it's in the operation easy PD board.... but. D= I spent ages trying to get it right and I'm still not 100% happy with it but it will do me for now... until I stop being too lazy to spruce it up a bit.
[atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=height,100][atrb=width,380][cs=6][bg=black] | [atrb=cellspacing,0,true][atrb=cellpadding,4,true][atrb=width,375][cs=4][rs=3][bg=black] Ok, so Aibell's attack missed, but at least his sister's caterpie had landed a successful blow even if he had taken a slap from a vine whip for his troubles. He pondered for a moment, thinking how best to make their attack a little less predictable and possibly more contest like when Xerian turned to him with a knowing smile.
"Dyeus, use your string shot on Aibell and hold it." Dyeus gave his trainer a rather sceptical look but obeyed all the same, attaching his gooey string shot to the igglybuff and holding as tight as he could. It was like some sort of sticky rope binding the two together.
"Aibell, Run at the first Bellsprout with a Pound attack!" Aibell gave a little squeal of delight as she charged forward, hindered somewhat by the string shot rope that bound her to Dyeus. She threw herself with all her strength at the first bellsprout. The rope contracted and expanded between the two partner pokémon and with an almost comical twang, Dyeus was rocketed towards the first Bellsprout as he prepared himself for a rather impromptu tackle attack. Xerian didn't even need to call it out. She'd planned it that way, after all.
