Rio and Kenna exchanged looks again. Apologize? That was clearly what the little critter wanted them to do. But no chance of that happening. ”Give it a nice bite?” Kenna suggested, realizing that this psychic creature would squirm under such a dark attack. Plus, Rio’s level was getting quite high. This thing wouldn’t stand a chance. It might even flinch again. She smiled at the small bell-like Pokemon cheerily.
With a mew of consent, Rio circled around once, then dove in to give the critter a nice chomp. She wondered if it would chime while she did so.
::meowth:: Answer? No. <3 Used Bite.

What was wrong with asking for directions? Or asking for an apology to someone who just started attacking it? The debonair [and derpy] little chingling wasn't even sure what to do. It couldn't think of any offenses it could really use to stop the cat Pokemon, and it thought maybe a wrap move would work- but by the time it had thought of that, the scratch cat pokemon had laid it's bite upon the little bell; and sent it into a flinch. Sure wasn't a good warrior yet.- ::Chingling:: Chingling Flinched.

Apparently, there was everything wrong with asking for directions. But not really, as the duo would have attacked most anything that crossed their paths. Experience was all that mattered at the moment, which entailed battling. Whether or not the opponents wanted to fight was another matter entirely. This was Kenna's stage, not theirs.
"Keep chomping, Rio," she instructed, well aware of the strength of her Meowth's jaws against such a silly little bell. Hopefully beating such a thing would give her experience, Kenna realized as she watched the small creature flinching on the ground.
Rio pounced on top of the Chingling, her paws on either side of its body. She lowered her head to grab it around the strange little protuberances on its back, eager to prevent its being able to even utilize its wrap attack.

The little bell like Pokémon shivered in the cat's grasp, and did all it could think of doing! It wished for some help; and suddenly it had begun to feel better, to heal. It knew recover; but it didn't know that was what it just activated! The little bell squirmed and tried to get out of the cat's grasp, feeling better but not enough to let the beast keep on attacking it. Chingling hit by bite. Used recover on self.

What was this? The creature's wounds were healing, closing up. Rio flicked her ears with annoyance, thoroughly miffed that her attacks had been erased so easily. But not all of them. No, it was surely still slightly injured. And the more Rio chomped down, the less recovery would fix the next time. Without waiting for an order, she simply attempted yet another bite on the stubborn little bell.

“I'm no ascared!” the Chingling derped onwards! It shivered in the cat's hands, trying to wiggle out, and hoped and wished for help more. It pushed the spot which it didn't know it could push; and recover came again. The bell was still in the grasp of the villain, but it could try to get out of it with luck. Meowth's teeth had to start hurting sometime. ::Chingling:: Chingling was hit by Bite. Used Recover.

Kenna frowned as the battle pushed pathetically onward, with Rio biting and the bell recovering. "Keep biting, Rio. You'll get it.
<I know I will. But this is just stupid,> the cat replied, having released her hold for just a moment. Her ears were flat against her head. This thing was just pissing her off, now, as it wasn't even fighting back. She dove back down, trying to grab a more delicate spot that would do more damage.

Chingling cried out as the Meowth's fangs sank into his body, the corrupt, discordant sound of a broken bell ringing across the Route as Chingling struggled vainly against the Meowth's grasp. He was just a meal to this demon cat. Target practice. Recoiling desperately, his own fear took over as he felt the inner mechanisms that generated Recover stall and stutter. His breath caught in his throat as he renewed his desperate struggle to escape. >Let me go! LET ME GO!<What would he do if the cat didn't? Would she kill him? He couldn't do anything, he was so frozen with fear. Eyes brimming with tears which he furiously blinked away, bell chiming a maimed chord of distress that nobody could hear, he awaited the feline's next move. ::chingling:: Chingling is weakening. Chingling flinched. [/B]

Did Rio really feel like letting go? No, she did not. Quite a pity for the poor little Chingling, who had succeeded in doing nothing but prolonging its torment. <Just faint, already.> The cat yawned before chomping down one more time.
Kenna, too, was getting tired of this battle. Sometimes it was fun when the enemy couldn't do anything, but not right now. Games were more fun if you didn't know for sure that you were going to win. Maybe she'd pick and choose her targets more closely next time.

Chingling Hit by Bite Fainted. Rio gains a level.
- Oh no, oh no, oh yikes! Those fangs came closer to his trembling body-- a body that couldn't move out of pure terror. It didn't want this to end this way, but there was no helping it. The baby Pokémon had no one to save him, like how most fairy tales ended. Gulping, he hid his head in his stubby arms to try and shield himself from the painful attack.
- As a surge of dark energy coursed through his body, it felt like lightning. Yelping from the pain, he instantly went limp in the Meowth's jaws, much too afraid to try and counter his attempts any longer. It was all futile. Nothing would've helped him anyways.

Dropping the bell-like creature, Rio looked at its small form in disgust. Such a useless creature. What had it done to fight back? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. She was tempted to just eat it, but she wasn't certain that it would even taste very good. Glancing up at Kenna, the Meowth said, <I think I want a stronger opponent next time.>
Kenna sighed and nodded, interpreting her Pokemon's words correctly. That was just... pathetic. She wondered if there was anything stronger out here that would challenge Rio at all. But then, she did have her Zangoose to train, as well, and he wasn't quite as powerful. Maybe it was time to focus on him for a while? Soon.
Stepping around the Chingling on the path, Rio continued on her way further into the Route. Kenna followed, trotting along on all fours.

Juno { Level 6 } on stand-by Tick-Tock { Level 7 } on stand-by
- <Oh? Oh? Oh! Cat! Help me my life is in danger!> A Pidgey had been calmly flying in the skies, only searching for trainers with his Hoothoot companion, but the sight of Rio got him all in hissy fit. The Pidgey clung to the Hoothoot in mid-air, absolutely terrified that the feline was somehow going to chase them in the skies, not realizing that his actions made that all the more possible.
- <Frat frat burger! Frat frat!?> The Hoothoot squawked, trying to keep both Pokémon in the air, until Juno stupidly let them crashing into the ground. Sadly for the pair, they were within the Meowth's eyesight. The only good thing was that Garett saw that something was up when all of a sudden his birds went out of view in the sky.
- Fearing the worst, he hurried through the foliage, wondering what in the world got into the pair this time. The scene was...an interesting one. His two birds were a big pile of feathers, all soiled from the earth. Tick was currently attempting to whack Juno on the head with his wings, while Juno whimpered like a girl. So...typical.

Rio looked up to see what the commotion was about and couldn't help but become entranced at the sight of the tumbling bird Pokemon. And not just one, but TWO potential edibles! How wonderful! Kenna followed the eyes of her Meowth, who had stopped walking. The trainer watched as the two plummeted from the sky and landed in a heap on the ground.
Hm. So much for battling these two. Hopefully they were alive? Kenna and Rio rushed forward, stopping only when they saw another human push his way out of the foliage. "Are these your Pokemon?" Kenna asked, smiling at the boy with concern in her eyes. "Are they okay? I wanted to battle them, but not if they're hurt." Rio bobbed her head in assent. Rio's hand, however, had traveled to her belt where Dagger's Pokeball rested, ready for action.

Juno { Level 6 } on stand-by Tick-Tock { Level 7 } on stand-by
- Getting a good look at Kenna's charming face, a slight blush appeared on Garett's. Now, he could've easily passed it off as the cold weather, since it was getting to be rather chilly. The only thing was no he felt rather nervous and awkward. Dammit, and he knew why too. So much for a good first impression.
- "Huh...?" Kind of stared off into space at the question, until he realized she was talking to him. Pokemon? Which Pokemon? Oh wait his! His! Obviously! Duh! "AH! Oh, uh, yeah. They're fine. This happens a lot. Sadly." He faked a cough, marching over to the birds to assert his trainer's dominance.
- "Juno. Tick. Look nice in front of the lady." He grunted, giving them a 'tap' with his foot, shoving the Pidgey off of the Hoothoot. The two groaned, but swiftly got back up on their feet, appearing quite fine except for where Garett kicked them.
- "You said you wanted a battle? Well, I actually was looking for trainers." He smiled, which looked like an awkward, dopey grin. Juno and Tick sensed something was up, and exchanged worried looks. Should they...do something about him? A peck in the noggin, maybe?

Kenna smiled as cutely as she could at Garett, her cheeks flushing slightly as a blush appeared across the male’s own face. Boys were so easily distracted by a pretty face, it was quite amusing. They were the same anywhere, Kanto to Hoenn to Cheyenne. At least that was something she could always rely on. Until she grew up, at least.
Giggling at the response, Kenna smiled cheerily at the Pokemon, still flopping about in their pile of feathers and wings. With a flick of her wrist, the small girl whipped out her Zangoose’s Pokeball and the normal-type appeared before her on the path. He looked around, getting a scope on the situation; two trainers, Rio, and two birds. Double battle, maybe? He’d never been in one of those. Glancing at the Meowth, he quickly averted his gaze as she met his eyes unblinkingly. Could he really fight alongside such a strong and confident creature? He rubbed his paws together anxiously.
”If we battle, you’re gonna have to go easy on me. I only have these two Pokemon,” Kenna said, frowning slightly as though in disappointment. ”If I manage to win, can I maybe have a prize?” Her pout became hopeful as she looked at the mildly infatuated male.

As Kenna smiled at him, Garret felt his face redden with blush, and he awkwardly cleared his throat as he looked away. Girls sometimes made him uncomfortable, especially pretty girls. His birds exchanged exasperated looks as the moment transpired, but decided against doing anything about it.
Juno was ruffling and preening her wings, obviously unhappy with the dirt that covered them. Tick, meanwhile, had his head cocked in an almost full ninety degree angle, looking almost comical as he stared at his opponents. They looked pretty tough, but he was confident that he and Juno could take them.
<G-Go easy?> Garret asked, confused. Trainers hardly ever asked for you to go easy on them. They usually didn't want to admit weakness. And wait, she only had two Pokemon? Garret had three - Jude's ball was resting at his hip. Recovering from his surprise, the boy shrugged. <Just do your best?> he suggested. He wasn't about to lose to her, even if she was a pretty girl.
Prize? Garret blinked. Far as he knew, that wasn't regular battle etiquette, either. Instead of answering, he asked, <Do you want to go first, or...?>

Ah, well. Maybe this kid wouldn’t be so easy to get loot out of, after all. Still, Kenna kept her face pleasant, a cute smile never leaving her lips. Dagger glanced at Rio, but the cat provided no reasoning for their trainer’s words. She simply stared back at the Zangoose with an expression that told him to stop being stupid. He turned away, embarrassed. He’d try.
”I’ll go first. Ready? Okay! Both of you, scratch a bird!” Kenna called out, pointing dramatically towards the two flying-types.
Rio moved first thanks to Dagger’s lack of confidence; plus, the Zangoose wanted to watch his companion and see what was so obvious. He noticed it in an instant. Having seen her fight before, he could tell that she had physically slowed her movements, made her attack weaker. Eyes lighting up with realization, he followed suit, heading towards Tick while Rio went for Juno. Dagger did not slow his pace, but certainly did not swing his claws as hard as he could have.
Kenna watched her Pokemon with approval, glad that Dagger had caught on. ‘Lose’ for a while, then pull out a victory. Hopefully the birds wouldn’t fall too quickly and would allow for such a scheme. The point of it? There wasn’t really much, in all honesty. It was all for training; against other trainers, such a tactic could prove very useful. Now? Just a warm-up for battles to come.
::zangoose:: Used scratch on Tick
::meowth:: Used scratch on Juno

Juno glared. >A bird?!< he crowed indignantly, flapping his wings to show his distaste. Story of his life. Just because they were all birds, didn't mean he was just an ordinary Pidgey. He was beautiful; the apple of his Trainer's eye. So caught up was Juno in his thoughts that the Meowth's claws easily hit their mark, and a pained hoot from Tick's location suggested he had been hurt as well. "Damnit," muttered Garret. "Both of you, use Tackle on the Meowth," he ordered hesitantly. Juno and Tick flew towards the Meowth, Juno in front with a conceited sneer and a confident caw, and Tick with a dreamy look and a dopey smile. Either way, both hurled their bulk at Rio. ::pidgey:: Juno used Tackle on Rio.
::hoothoot:: Tick used Tackle on Rio. [/B]

”Rio!” Kenna called back, seeing both the bird Pokemon flying in her direction. The feline looked at her opponents through narrowed eyes and attempted a dodge, but purposely allowed the two birds to hit her, regardless of the mock escape attempt. Being slammed into by a Pidgey and Hoothoot was not pleasant, but it really was nothing she needed to worry about in the long run.
”Growl then bite. Leer then scratch. Okay, guys? Pick your targets!” Rio turned her attention to Juno, who seemed the most irritating; Dagger focused on Tick. A low growl came from the Meowth’s throat while the Zangoose glared fiercely at the other bird. Then, both lunged for their targets. Rio made her attack at full strength, this time, quite irritated with the Pidgey’s confident smirk; Dagger, meanwhile, was still holding back slightly.
::meowth:: Hit by both Tackles. Used Growl and Bite on Juno.
::zangoose: Used Leer and Scratch on Tick.
