Why was he here? Yet again. What was this? The third time? Yeah, third sounded about right. Roran was on route one for the third time in his obviously dwindling pokemon career. He lost his professorship, he didn't have a single pokemon badge, and now...exactly. What now? He was alone on a route. Atleast it was a familiar place and not the worst place to be alone. Roran smiled to himself. Yeah, definately not as bad as a creepy alleyway. He'd been there before. All those guys thought he was a girl! How preposterous! Although he was feminine in build, he didn't actually look like a girl...did he? Kenji, his Arcanine, was quick to get him out of that situation before any clothes were taken off. Roran was too naive to know what was going on, but his pokemon were his protectors.
"Hey, do you guys know what we're gonna do?" Roran spoke in his usually happy voice, so it was clear his prior worries were completely forgotten. He had a tendency to be optimistic. "I mean, we've got to get back to our former glory! I know we will!"
"You don't have to worry about a thing! It's us that have to do all the work!" Kuro replied as he danced deftly about. "You try shooting flames out yo' mouth." His sassy attitude was probably not missed by the trainers and pokemon of Cheyenne. He tilted his head and turned towards the large Arcanine that was carrying a hyper Pichu and a tired Jirachi. "Hey, Kenji. We need to get you a woman."
"Shut up." Kenji was probably the one person that wouldn't deal with Kuro's mischief. "Roran, I think we should just practice some technique. Get the rest of the team stronger." He gave a slight head motion towards Kuro.
"HEY. I'm the best thing this team has ever got!" His complaining grew softer and bitter as it traveled through the trees. Surely something, pokemon or person, heard his loud mouth. They always do.

"Hey, who's talking crap so loud in the middle of the day?!" A voice stormed out of some bushes, with his two flying Pok?mon fluttering right beside him. The Beautifly was obnoxiously hugging her trainer's back, while the Dustox appeared annoyed at such a commotion. Honestly, his trainer was being just as loud as these strangers were.
"Two trainers, one cup. We battle now!" He pointed dramatically over at Roran and his two fire types. What. He looked about 10 years old and he was talking about something that dirty? Waaaat.
"See here? This cup is the trophy!" He talked excitedly, holding up a warm cup of Starbucks coffee. Well, if that didn't make you facepalm, I don't know what will. Both bug Pok?mon were oblivious to the sexual reference, and appeared ready to fight. Even Sarah had let go of Alan, just to get ready for a trainer battle.
ooc: pfffffft. those are high levels.

Roran jumped in fright at the sound of a foreign voice. "Oh! It's nice to meet you!" Roran was definitely the friendly type. His smile grew as Alan spoke until he brought up the cup. "I'm afraid that I don't particularly like Starbucks...well, I mean, I've never actually tried it...I'm not allowed to." He looked slightly embarrassed. His little dainty hand went up to cover his rosy cheeks. "It's kinda kinda chilly, isn't it?" With a tilt of his head and a cutesy smile, this was a pretty smooth cover.
Roran looked to Kuro and to Kenji. "Do you mind if I don't use my Arcanine? I think that I would prefer to use my Skitty." Surely Alan wouldn't mind. The bugs wouldn't stand a chance again two fire types. Roran wanted to give the boy a better chance. It was the nice thing to do after all.
Kuro shot up, knowing full well that he was going to participate in this battle. Of course, he remembered what Kenji had said and quickly mumbled, "Roran chose me because I'm the better choice to protect Dawn. NOT because I need to train." With that he turned his anger towards his opponents. If they dare hurt Dawn, he'd burn 'em till they're charcoal.

"Oh, wow. You sure have cool Pok?mon. You sure you don't want my awesome prize? Can't you just pretend? Please, mister?" Alan looked up at the older boy with pleading eyes, hoping to appeal to his sensitive nature. If he had one. He seemed like a friendly enough guy, especially with the way he talked and walked.
"A Skitty? That's such...a girly Pok?mon though." Alan stated, oblivious as to how people would consider a 'Beautifly' girly. Especially with the Pokedex entries about it, stating that it was a violent Pok?mon and was pretty strong.
<Um, sweethearts. Is it ok to battle a Pok?mon that sounds so...fragile?> Sarah asked, looking towards the stubborn looking Vulpix. Something about the situation tugged at her brain, but the Beautifly couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"I can pretend I guess..." Roran tried to think about whether or not that would be breaking any rules. He wouldn't actually drink it. Roran became more affirmative and confident. He even took his usual fighting stance. God, this felt good to be back. "Come on out, Dawn. <3" His words sounded so sweet and lyrical. A cascade of pink fog and hearts fell from the mouth of the pokeball as soon as he released it. A Skitty leapt from the fog and landed primly on her feet. She made no audible sound (She was mute afterall), but you could only imagine the cute mew that she would produce. Her cuteness matched that of Roran's.
Kuro's would-be enamor of Dawn was interrupted when he thought he heard someone call him FRAGILE? "HEY. SHUT THE HELL UP!" Yeah, he wasn't anything like his owner or his precious love. He crouched down and let out a snarl. It wasn't his fault that he was a naturally feminine and adorable pokemon. He could feel the embers building up at the back of his throat. He was determined to make quick work of this stupid bug. Small flames began to escape out his lips. He gave a quick glance to Roran as if to say "C'mon, let's get this battle started".
Roran looked to Alan and smiled. Of course Roran would let Alan make the first move. His pokemon were ready. Dawn and Kuro out front and the rest sitting patiently, ready for a show.

Alan smiled as his beautiful Pokemon detached themselves from him and flew into the air, spinning in the air in a synchronized flying display before spreading their wings wide, prepared for battle. "Sarah, use String Shot and Tackle on that Vulpix. Dusty, use Harden and Tackle on Skitty!" Alan decided to start off with simple physical attacks at first and see how it went from there. If the Trainer's Pokemon could withstand it, then he'd up his game. >Of course, Alan,< simpered Sarah, before shooting a line of gluey white string at the Vulpix's magnificent scarlet coat. It was a shame that such a lovely coat had to be ruined, but such was the way of battle. String Shot completed, Sarah soared in a descending arc, trying to slam her body into the Vulpix. Dusty gave a grunt of assertion, and a bright glint briefly passed over his body. Suddenly the Dustox seemed brighter. More lustrous. He too flew down to attack with all his bulk, but at the Skitty rather than the Vulpix. ::beautifly:: Sarah used String Shot and Tackle on Kuro.
::dustox:: Dusty used Harden and Tackle on Dawn. [/B]

Roran was never the type to order his pokemon around. Honestly? He was more of a cheerleader than a trainer. All he was missing was the miniskirt and the pompoms. "Ah! Watch out!" He was unbearable helpful, no? Luckily, his pokemon were used to him and had (for the most part) developed a sort of independence. But unluckily, excluding Kenji, he had a team that resembled a pack of circus clowns.
Kuro leapt forward confidently, about to release an ember when he noticed a string shot aimed right for him. It did not reach his beautiful coat as planned but instead ensnared Kuro's mouth in such a way that the last thing he could mumble through his flames was, "OH FU-". He couldn't speak, he definitely couldn't shoot out an ember, and he could hardly breath. Fortunately it didn't completely cover his nose, so he still had an airway.
This had caught him so off-guard that he hardly noticed the tackle come at him. He only felt it and was instantly knocked off his feet. He propped himself up as he felt a new rage begin to stir inside of him. These stupid bugs may have made his mouth incapable of doing the thing he loved most (talking), but it did not ruin the one skill he had mastered. He was extremely nimble and could move his feet swiftly and masterfully. That was why, when he noticed Dusty going for his Dawn with a tackle, he ran forward and leaped in between the two. He attempted to place his should for the majority of the hit in order to blunt it, but it didn't work as well as he had hoped, so he was still pushed backwards.
"It's okay! Just get them back!" Roran cheered.
Dawn gave a look to Kuro in warning before she trotted forwards casually and began to Sing. It was a wonder how a mute pokemon could sing, but she definitely could. Her voice was sweet and lyrical, but also amazingly soothing. She began softly before becoming more rhythmic. Thud. Roran hit the floor, fast asleep. Well, that was unfortunate, but it wasn't like they actually needed him.
One she finished, Kuro uncovered his ears and turned his fury towards the Dustox. This was the one that tried to hurt Dawn and he was determined to make it pay. His feet went from standing to running in a second as he dashed from side to side in a blur. This was his Quick Attack and he was aiming for Dustox.

Bug Catcher Alan "U-Uh oh!" Alan said frantically, when the Skitty began to Sing. He knew how bad it could be for his team if they were placed into a slumber, and he wondered which of his bugs would be targeted in her assault. To his surprise, however, it was the other trainer who went down instead, making an almost comical thud as he hit the ground. Alan blinked a few times, unsure of what to make of this. "Hey, mister? You okay?" the boy asked hesitantly. But it seemed that the other really was fast asleep.
Oh well. The Pokemon were still fighting, and Alan turned his attention back to the fray. He winced slightly as he noticed Dusty go flying backward, obviously having been slammed into by the Vulpix's attack. "Dusty, don't take that lying down!" Alan encouraged the bug. "See if you can sap their strength with a Poison Sting!" A status condition would be pretty helpful, in this situation. "Aim for the one that hit you!"
Dusty grumbled something unintelligible under his breath, obviously not too pleased with either his trainer, or his opponent. But all the same, he recovered his flight and shot a couple of poisoned barbs toward the Vulpix.
Sarah, meanwhile, having been hit by nothing, fluttered her wings and danced out of the way of her opponents, giggling with amusement.
"Sarah, focus!" Alan groaned. "Harden and Tackle!"
Though she still seemed quite amused by the sleeping trainer, Sarah obliged, her wings glinting silver as she hardened her defenses, then rushed toward the Skitty for a Tackle.
::dustox:: Dusty | Level 10 Hit by Quick Attack! Used Poison Sting on Kuro! ::beautifly:: Sarah | Level 10 Hit by nothing! Used Harden and Tackle on Dawn!

Kuro found himself in the midst of a barage of small purple needles. As each one hit, he could feel the posion seeping into his body. Nausea almost hit him immediately. Well, if he vomitted, it would stay in his mouth due to the string shot still covering his mouth. How was he supposed to use ember if this thing was on his mouth? Suddenly an idea hit him and he quickly turned to Dawn.
Dawn lept to the side in order to attempt to dodge the tackle. It hit her paw unfortunately and when Dawn landed, it hurt terribly. Her mouth opened and althought no sound came out, one could only imagine the painful mew that would have come could she speak. However, she noticed Kuro looking at her and attempted to understand his plan. She tilted her head and he tilted his also. She looked to the opponent, and he also looked to the opponent. She looked back at him, and he too, looked back at her. Oh! She smiled as she finally understood. She nodded and the plan took action.
Both pokemon began to shake their hindquarters cutely. Their tails waved around in a Tail Whip. Both pokemon were aiming for the Beautifly to lower its attack, hopefully doubly. Now time for the real plan. Kuro built up a flame in his mouth. No, it wouldn't work. The attempted Ember was stopped by the white goo covering his mouth. After this, he winced as the poison suddenly caused a jolt in his body. He nearly collapsed from the suddenness, but was able to remain standing.
Dawn turned to face the dustox as flames built up in her mouth. She let out an Ember towards the flying bug. If it hit, it'd be super effective and hopefully begin to change this battle to their favor. No, skittys don't typically know ember, but these two pokemon had remarkable teamwork. Kuro knew that his ember wouldn't work, but he also knew that Skitty knew copycat. So she copied his ember and was now directing it towards the dustox.

The Ember hit smack dab on Dusty's wing, the heat made him fly around in circles to try and knock it off. Alan frowned, great, fire type moves. Sarah was happily trying to help Dusty put the fire out. Once it was gone Alan thought out his next move.
"Alright, Dusty, use Poison Sting on that Skitty! Sarah, use String Shot and try to wrap the Skitty's legs, follow with Tackle!" He yelled out.
Dusty went into action as he shot the poison spikes at the small cat like Pokemon, the purple spikes shot at the ground hopefully leaving no time to dodge. Sarah shot some more goo at the ground, aiming for the Skitty's legs hoping to stop her dead in her tracks then she flew at her in a Tackle.
::dustox:: Weak Used Poison Sting at Dawn!
::beautifly:: used String shot and Tackle on Dawn!

Dawn was hit by the tackle and ended up stumbling over her feet, which she soon found to be covered in some sticky substance. What? This was the string shot. It help to make her incapable of moving. It wasn't like she could move much anyways, her paw hurt too badly. She looked back up to see a barrage of needles aimed her way.
Kuro growled angrily. So now they were all gonna go after Dawn, eh? Well he wouldn't let this happen! He was too late to save her from the first attack, but he leapt nimbly infront of her in order to take the blunt of the poison sting. He was already poisoned so he didn't need her to be poisoned too. The poison sting did benefit him, however. A needle struck his muzzle in such a way that it cut away at the string shot that had been covering his mouth. Kuro noticed immediately that it was loosened. He mumbled through it, "Same as before."
They both used Tail Whip on the beautifly to hopefully lower its attack even more. Four Tail Whips on one pokemon had to be doing something, right? Kuro built up embers on the loosening string shot as Dawn turned her head forwards and used Ember on the Dustox. Their plan was simple. Lower the beautifly's attack as much as possible while attempting to knock out the Dustox. Kuro struggled at his maw knowing that he had to get the string shot off before the poisoning got to him too badly.

Welp, there went Dusty. He couldn't take anymore of this super-effective onslaught that came from the extremely obnoxious fire-fox. Hehe, firefox; like the browser. Alan slapped his hand on his head, he was going to lose that starbucks he just bought. Oh well, he still had Sarah. Even if Sarah was getting hit by stat lowering tail whips that made her lower her guard, she'd keep on fighting until she couldn't any longer. Alan pointed at the vulpix, if he could take that one out he may make it.
"Sarah! Tackle!" She complied, launching herself in another onslaught against the vulpix. It was now or nothing, and all bets for Alan were off. He really didn't want to give up his one cup of delicious drink.
::Beautifly:: Mood: Calm Sarah uses Tackle on Vulpix, but was hit by Tail Whip!
Both pokemon gain .5 levels.

Kuro knew it wouldn't be able to last much longer. He had to last this tackle. He HAD to. Just like he had to get this thing off of his muzzle. He had a plan in the works. If he could get this off just before the tackle hit...He struggled as Dawn used one more Tail Whip. She was still incapacitated so she couldn't take the hit for Kuro. She would have, because she still had a lot of energy, but her paw was injured and her feet were stuck to the ground.
GOT IT! Roran got the string shot fully off his muzzle just in time. The tackle was comming at him. "DAWN!" he shouted. He let out the biggest ember he could muster, which wasnt very much because he was so weak. But maybe it would be direct enough because the beautifly was comming right at him. "Ugh..." Kuro felt the tackle, and he just barely lasted through it, but then the poison struck throughout his body and he couldn't handle anything more. He fell to his belly and his eyes shut. Kuro FAINTED.
Dawn tried to regain focus after Kuro fainted. She wished that she could run over, but she couldn't. She had to try to finish this battle. She used copycat in what would be her last Ember because Kuro was fainting. But maybe all the tail whips and two embers would be enough. If it wasn't, well, she didn't know what she could do.

Sarah let out a shrill cry of pain as the Ember struck her, fluttering through the air, emitting those same shrieks as the fire climbed her body, dealing considerable damage to her frail form before the cold winter air extinguished it. Alan winced as his Beautifly moaned in pain, but somehow stayed airborne. She was on her last legs. He knew that much. But she could get in one last attack before she fainted. "Alright Sarah. Use Tackle!" he demanded. Sarah sighed wistfully. She just wanted to be with Alan now. But if perseverance was what it took to make him happy, then she would persevere until she couldn't fight any longer. Wheeling through the air, her flying gait slow and awkward thanks to her injuries as she shot at Dawn. ::beautifly:: Weakening. Sarah used Tackle.
