Claribel finally found herself strolling down route one. It held a sense of serenity and calmness, something she wasn't used to. Where was all the feuding Pokémon? The chaos? The violence? She felt out of place here, like a malevolent spirit trapped in a room of angels. Though, she never knew much about wild Pokémon other than the few her father used as sport in his fighting ring. The instinct to survive was still strongly rooted in their brains giving them an edge over the softened trainer owned Pokémon. But that was something she learned from the fights, not from actually being around them in their natural habitat. Of course, that didn't mean they weren't just as aggressive out here as they were there.
Claribel threw one of the balls on her belt releasing her new Pineco. Just as confused as earlier, it spun in a circle taking in its surroundings. She knew she would have to become acquainted with her Pokémon sooner or later, and sooner sounded much more beneficial at this point. "There's a few things we need to get straight," she said to him. "First off, I am your trainer. You listen to me, and only me. If I tell you to attack something, you do it. Secondly, your new name is Neco. This makes it easier on both of us."
He listened to the girl but was confused about what she was saying. His Trainer? Why did he need a trainer? What exactly was a trainer? His thoughts quickly veered towards the worst case scenario at the next few words she said. <Attack?> he peeped. Attacking to defend himself he could understand, but the way he understood it she would make him attack anything at anytime or any reason. What if he was forced to attack one of his friends from his old home? It didn't sound like he had much of a choice in the matter, but he still wasn't sure if he could mercilessly attack.
Her final words didn't make him feel any better. His name was not Neco. In fact, he didn't even have a name previous to this. He was just Pineco like his brothers and sisters. Though he guessed it would be too much of a stretch for him to get used to but he still wasn't fond of the idea. Plus, mothers name their children right? So maybe she was here to be his mom. That had to be why she was here and why he was with her. She seemed scary enough to be able to protect him from danger, and the more he thought about it, the more he liked the idea of traveling with her.
Claribel didn't see much of a response back from Neco aside from a small squeak. So whether he was for it, against it, or even understood it was unknown to her. Although, it wasn't like she truly cared much. He was just a Pokémon who didn't have any thoughts other than food, water, shelter, and survival. "Come on, let's go," she said as she walked off. Neco enthusiastically followed her completely forgetting the fear for her he felt just mere moments before.

Pidgey See, Pidgey Do~
Dirty and cold. That was all he felt in this kind of weather. Head shaking to fluff up his feathers for some extra warmth, his head peered around in some of the tall grass in search of food. His footsteps were quiet, but they left their marks in the mud as proof of his existence. He lived off of the bugs and berries in the area, though even he had been beaten by his own prey.
It was a sad life, being born not too long ago, right before Winter comes. No parents to look after you once you fly, no siblings to bring merry joy into your life, and without them, the Pidgey was alone. He had no one to guide him, no one to teach him any life lessons, no one to do anything.
Owned by man, released by man. Or in his case, raised in capacity and then released without warning, far away from his family. Now he was stuck living this dirty, gross, lifestyle that hardly suited a young avian. The only time he remembered being this dirty with his happy family was when his youngest siblings were born in their tiny cage, hardly the living conditions necessary for a bred Pokemon. It had been without the love and care others got, though he didn't understand why. Was there something about his species that was to be hated? His brothers and sisters, they were his friends. The only ones he ever knew, and he was always in search of them to ease away this lonely lifestyle.
He missed them-- he always did. His main lifestyle, because of being forcefully released, now consisted of eat, sleep, try and clean himself, and find his family. Always. It wasn't a happy way to go about living, but it was the only one he knew. Without order or direction, he was lost. As he walked through the tall grass, covered in dirt, a trainer walked near his way. The sight of a human, one with a Pokemon, it actually brought fear within him. She wasn't going to take him back to that place, was she? He got so far! He wasn't going to go back! He hissed at the girl and her Pineco, his tiny head poking out of the grass with a frightened stare.

She walked in silence with Neco followed behind her, babbling to himself in a rather sing-song type matter. She had to admit it was a little boring at first but it eventually blended in to the background noises that nature provided. The naive bagworm pokemon twirled on the ground around her feet nearly causing his trainer to stumble over him. He somehow managed to get ahead of Claribel, appearing to dance around through the nearby grass and down the path in a series of spins and jumps.
She wasn't sure what had gotten into Neco or if this was just one of the ways they travel and she wasn't going to dwell on figuring out why all of a sudden her pokemon seemed to be an aspiring ballerina. She had more important things to do, such as keeping an eye out for any wild pokemon which didn't take long at all.
A hiss came from a patch of grass just in front of them followed by a small brown and cream head poking up from it. Neco temporarily froze in place by the sight of the bird before bouncing back to shield himself behind Claribel's legs. He peered out from his hiding place to gain a better look at the frightening monster bird. He couldn't say that he had bad experiences dealing with Pidgey nor did one ever try to eat him, though he knew bird pokemon were something to stay away from. He was a bug type after all and avians feasted mainly on his type.
On the other hand, Claribel couldn't be happier at the moment. Sure, she didn't show much of it but what could be better than coming across a Pidgey at the very beginning? She readied a pokeball for future use while she lifted one of her legs to reveal Neco if the need came for him to attack who inched closer to her leg. She didn't have much interest in actually battling the pidgey since they were very useful in the ring. She knew they weren't that aggressive at this stage like a Spearow is, but its evolved stages are more fierce. If she wanted to capture the Pidgey, she would have to gain its trust in whatever way possible or battle it, which she was trying to avoid.
Deciding to try her luck with befriending it, she relaxed hopefully allowing her to come off as less of a threat. "No need to be frightened," she said. She strained herself by trying to sound as gentle as a cloud, though the underlying sternness was still evident. "You're obviously worn out and in need of a bath. I can offer you a safe place to sleep, food, shelter, and a nice, warm bath for you. How does that sound?" Hopefully she was as good a manipulator as her father when it came to making others trust her.

Pidgey See, Pidgey Do
The girl's demeanor changed from a frightening indifferent one when she was walking beside her Pineco, to a...kinder one? He looked at her curiously, head attempting to hide itself in his feathers as he took a small step back, but the hissing had stopped. He was thinking. She didn't want him to be scared, and she didn't look like she wanted to hurt him. Everything about the situation told him to go to her, desperately wanting a substitute for a family.
It was the easily changeable mind he possessed, after all. If simply being with others was what he wanted, despite his bad history with humans, then could he trust someone that appeared...different? He tilted his head curiously, still fear showing in his eyes.
He understood some of what she was saying, food, water, and shelter. Things he wanted. Things he was denied, or had to find on his own for so long. He felt guilty, wondering how his family would react for such a betrayal? Was it even a betrayal? His mind argued back and forth, but his feet moved closer to the girl, eyes pleading for some kind of answer.

Claribel was glad the hissing had stopped. A full on attack by a horde of pidgey and its evolutions alerted by the defensive noise was not what she needed. He still seemed a little flighty but didn't nearly as scared as earlier. For what she could tell, he was still in a defensive state of mind judging by how he held himself in position to her. She's seen it a lot during the fights especially when a smaller, weaker pokemon was up against a larger one. They seemed to always go into an angled or semi-angled stance that resembled cowering in a way. If she happened to make too quick of a movement towards the bird, she might lose her chance at actually having one of her favorite pokemon in her possession.
"See, you can trust me," she said. "You won't have to worry about having to survive on your own if you come with me. No more fighting to feed yourself. No more walking days on end to find something to drink. No more of any of that. It's practically handed to you." Claribel felt proud of herself for managing to even get this far with the little bird without having to fight it. She was practically forcing herself to not reach out and grab the feather ball up in her arms. If she had any weakness at all, it would be a little pidgey. "So how does that sound?" she asked it. Even if it didn't understand what was being said, Claribel at least made herself try to sound as convincing as possible.
Neco kept his distance from Pidgey. What was his mom doing? Did she not know that bird pokemon were naturally rivals of bug pokemon like him? He felt a pang of jealousy while he watched his mother offer the Pidgey a place in their family. But, now that he thought about it, she was a mom, even if he only viewed her as such, and moms were supposed to take care of their young. So maybe she was just doing what comes naturally to her; taking in young, defenseless pokemon in place of her own offspring. Though he couldn't shake the feeling of having to share her with that thing, Neco knew he had no say in the matter. If she wanted that spawn of a demon, she was going to get it but that wouldn't stop him from proving that he was much better than the Pidgey. Just give him time and he'll be able to outshine that bird any day.

Pidgey felt his stomach rumble even as the girl spoke. Food. Drink. A warm place to sleep at night. How he yearned to be out of this dirty, cold and wet environment he had never been raised in. The offer was tempting, and he just wanted to take it. Tears brimmed in his eyes as his thin legs and wings moved towards the girl at an awkward half jog, falling freely down his feathered face as he stopped beside the girl, big brown eyes gazing up at her with trust. And yes, love. The first piece of human compassion he had ever received, and how good it felt. The Pineco didn't seem quite as happy to see him, so he let his gaze leave the Bug and Steel Type and back up to the girl's warm, comforting face, rubbing his tear-stained, feathery cheek against the girl's leg as he sniffled. Finally. The promise of a home. What he had wanted was his at last. ::pidgey:: ________________ OOC: Inspiration.

She truly didn't expect it to react in the way it did. Were those tears? Was it actually crying? Claribel was sure she didn't make it sound like she was saving it from being torn apart by ravenous meowths. Was there some other meaning behind its anguish? Although, it's not like she actually put two and two together to realize that pokemon did, in fact, think much like a person. In her eyes, the little bird merely recognized a word from its past, as to what word was unknown to Claribel, which brought back a memory or two. At least she understood that they did hold memories.
"Now don't...cry," she said. She didn't like the idea of talking to it as she would a young child or even a baby. It was just unnatural, but if it let her keep it, then by all means she would treat this thing as if she gave birth to it herself. Claribel reached down to pat the small bird on his head letting her hand rest on its head while she bent down. "All you have to do is allow me to catch you in this ball," Claribel said. She held out the ball towards the Pidgey, but didn't attempt to capture it just yet. She would much rather start off her ownership of it on a good note and left it up for the pidgey to choose.

The Pidgey suddenly flinched at the sight of the Pokeball in the Trainer's hand. It brought back horrible memories of being captivated by men. His caretakers weren't the friendliest of breeders. They were the greedy types, only finding those who look strong and healthy to sell, tossing the rest cruelly out into the wild. His first experience of being trapped in a Pokeball had not been pleasant. The breeders had whacked his head with the ball, nearly giving him a concussion in order to trap him within its depths. Inside with was dark and scary. All alone in the miniature ball, unsure if he would be let out anymore or trapped inside until he decayed. Most terrifying was when sparks suddenly pierced him, causing him great pain and discomfort. Of course, he had no idea that it was because of a blackout problem in the Power plant. He only assumed it was the breeders torturing him.
The flashback of those horrible times caused him to involuntarily peck the Pokeball out of the Trainer's hand. Pidgey let out a squawk and retreated a few feet away before realizing that he had accidentally attacked the Trainer. The little Bird Pokemon grew fearful, gazing up at the Trainer with wide eyes as he awaited her reaction. Would she hurt him? Pidgey attacked you! Mood Fearful

Claribel jumped and pulled her hand back at the sudden attack, withdrawing Neco to avoid him retaliating. She watched the pokeball roll off towards the side with a faint scratch on it where Pidgey's beak hit it. She looked down at her hand to check if she was also hit but from the looks of it, the bird only hit the ball. Glancing back and forth between her hand, the ball, and the pidgey, it was clear she was confused. Her eyebrows furrowed as she was at a complete loss for words. Obviously something about the contraption had the poor thing frightened but how else was she supposed to catch it? Throw her imaginary net at it? Send Neco to attack it? Attacking it would only confirm its fear which Claribel didn't want at all.
She stood up and walked over to the ball, checking it over as she picked it up to make sure it still worked. She grasped it firmly in her hand and positioned her fingers in anticipation for what she was going to do next. The little bird may not be weakened but it couldn't help to at least give it a shot and try to catch it. It wasn't the best idea she ever had, but she didn't care. Either the pidgey was going to come with her willingly or forced, it didn't have a choice in the matter. "Listen, I don't know what the deal is with you and pokeballs but it will go much easier if you voluntarily come with me instead of making me battle against you," she said. Her voice came out in a hard tone. She meant business now and wasn't going to idly stand by trying to coax the Pidgey into joining her if it wanted to be difficult.

Stage One of a new chapter
The tone of the Trainer's voice put fear into the Pidgey's heart. That only seemed to aggravate his state of mind and he became extremely fearful. He kept his eyes on the Trainer and kept squawking. He couldn't even speak in a proper manner at this point. He knew what the Trainer wanted but this time the Pidgey wouldn't allow it. He would not be used by another human like the others.
He had to think fast. A Trainer like this would probably try anything to force him back into a Poké Ball. He had to keep cautious. His eyes were wide and his heart was beating quite fast. He was even moving erratically while he was keeping himself in the air by flapping his wings. He kept bobbing to the left or right sporadically. How would he be able to escape this time?
Mood: Paranoid - Pidgey is refusing to listen! Capture him by force? (Y/N)

"Do you really have to be difficult," she sighed as she removed one of occupied balls from her belt. She tossed the occupied one out towards the Pidgey resulting in her Meowth taking form. Having only met his trainer once before, Meowth still didn't care much for how controlling she was during fights. What if he didn't want to use what she wanted him to? He was the one fighting here, not her. But by the time he saw the Pidgey, all he was pursue. He crouched on all fours mimicking what his evolution does when stalking prey. Before Claribel could tell him to use Fake Out, Meowth was already well on his way towards the bird. He bounded from left to right attempting to keep up with his prey. He couldn't tell if he would be able to successfully land this attack with the erratic movements but he sure was going to try. He propelled himself forwards with his back legs while he aimed at the Pidgey. Meowth didn't know if he was even close enough for it to work, but he brought his front paws together to make a loud clap that would hopefully stun the Pidgey long enough for him to finish it of. ::meowth:: Used Fake Out

A cat stalking a bird, how quaint. He had a sizable lead over the poor meowth, but the handclap released a shockwave that brought him down. He fell, skidding across the ground before coming to a fast halt. He groaned, righting himself and flying back up into the air. This trainer was worse than his old owners; even scarier! He didn't want to go with her, but he couldn't run! The Fake Out had left him completely stunned.

"Meowth, use bite and aim to disable it from flying away," Claribel said. Meowth was already in position to attack again. He skidded past the Pidgey as it hovered, stunned and scared. The cat knelt down once more and leaped at its target. He didn't need to be told to take it down. He's been around a few times, he knows how to hunt. He exposed his teeth and aimed straight for its wing. She had warned it at the beginning. They could have avoided the fear and pain of battle if it only willingly went into the ball. But because it flew off, Claribel was forced to resort to this. At this point she was willing to do anything to get that Pidgey including harming it. Although that probably didn't help with how if felt towards humans, specifically her. Claribel had a feeling it would be long and difficult to try and train this pokemon if she did get it, but then again, it had to listen to her. It would be her possession then. ::meowth:: Used Bite

The poor pidgey, hampered by the attacks of such vile people such as this trainer. She didn't want to help him at all, just abuse him like everybody else! He wasn't pleased, easily dodging the attack from the meowth in anger. He reangled himself, coming down from the heavens with an attack. This attack, the fundamental attack of most pokemon, was Tackle. He pondered, what would happen if he lost? This was a tough pokemon, he could tell from its mannerisms, but he wasn't sure if he'd make it. Only time would tell him of his fate.

::meowth:: Hit by Tackle
Their attempt to halt the Pidgey from gaining any advantage over them failed. It luckily readjusted itself before Meowth was able to bite down. However, this only pleased Claribel and made her want to catch it even more. It showed the same fighting will to survive that she wanted to see in a wild pokemon. They were always the best to fight with, especially when they were staring down one of their own natural predators behind the walls of the horrendous fighting ring. "Attack it again Meowth, but this time don't go for the wings," she said. Since it was already flying, the wings would be in motion and make it much harder to firmly grab them. She should have thought of this before now, but what was done was done. Claribel knew she would just have to be more thoughtful with her decisions from now on. Meowth went to use Bite again though aimed for the wings again. He wasn't even listening to what his trainer told him. This was going to be his meal sooner or later, even if he had to chase it down until he tired it out. His body twisted as he pushed used the momentum, though painfully, from being hit backwards and jumped toward the bird. He opened his mouth again, hoping to actually bite down on something other than air. ::meowth:: Used Bite

Pidgey squealed in pain as the teeth clamped around his left wing, tearing through nerve and muscle with vicious savagery. Letting out terrified screeches, hoping somebody, anybody, would come to help, his terrified, anguished pleas were ignored by the observers roosted in the trees and resting in the grass. This Pidgey was not part of a flock. He was not bonded to any one group, so the flocks would merely ignore him and hope that the noise would stop soon. Such was the cruelty of nature. Eventually wrenching his wing free with a garbled screech of agony, the Pidgey stumbled back, eyes lit up with adrenaline. What had happened to his dream? His dream of being loved and cherished above all else? What had happened to that brief moment where he was sure it would happen? No. He would not be captured by this Trainer, who only wanted him for her own selfish needs. If she had wanted him for the right reasons, she would have kept that kind tone, and not snapped at him when he had made a mistake. Where was his mama? His papa? His brothers and sisters? Why wouldn't they protect him? Zooming towards the Meowth as his eyes glinted with adrenaline and unshed tears, he closed his eyes in anticipation of the pain that would come at the moment of contact. He wouldn't be captured today. Would he? ::pidgey:: Pidgey used Tackle. [/B]

::meowth:: Hit by Tackle
Claribel wasn't pleased with how Meowth executed the attack. He did the complete opposite of what she told him too. Although, she couldn't help but smile when he managed to clamp on to the bird's wing. At least he was able to do some damage. Now if only he could disable it from further movement, she would be able to catch it easier. Meowth took the tackle head on though saw this as a chance for him to attack while the bird was still in close range. This time, he didn't even let his trainer get the chance to choose an attack. He brought up his paw, claws unsheathed, and swiped at the Pidgey's body simultaneously releasing a guttural growl. Claribel silently stood back and watched with a look of mild displeasure covering her face. She wouldn't dare pull Meowth from the battle. The pidgey would surely escape her then. And Neco surely wouldn't be able to keep up with it. He moved too slow to do anything other than defensive moves. However, there was plenty of time for her to punish Meowth for his disobedience later. ::meowth:: Used Scratch and Growl

Pidgey See, Pidgey Do~{ Pidgey } (Attack -1) Hit by Scratch Fainted. Meowth Gains 1 Level~
Hissing from the aftershock of the Bite attack to his wing, the young avian was lucky just to get a Tackle in on the Meowth's larger body. It came as a thud, and as soon as his body got a bit of recoil after the move, a devastating swipe of the claws got him across the chest, powerful and fierce. He was practically punched from the stronger feline, and make a weak cry as he twitched in a mix of grass and dry earth.
'Momma...' He thought with a whimper, curling up into a ball as a heavy feeling overcame his eyes. It felt heavier, and heavier, until his body lay still, save for a gentle breathing. During his body's weakened state, his body forced itself into the fainted condition, doing what it could to heal himself before any predators reached him-- though in this situation, it only harmed him.

She called Meowth back to his ball before he could get the chance to seriously hurt it. It laid there pitifully, succumbed to the attacks of the vicious cat. Claribel carefully stepped over to the unconscious Pidgey and knelt down beside it. She reached out to touch it gently, feeling the softness of its feathers run against her fingers. She was so close to having it, so very close that her heart skipped a few beats as she touched the pokeball against its body. Now all she had to do was wait. She thought as she waited, thinking back to the first time she saw a pidgey. It belonged to a friend of her father's. She remembered playing with it all day and nearly crying when his owner had to leave. Ever since then, Claribel yearned for one. It made her so happy to play with it that day, the same day her parents fought for the first time since they had her. Sure, their fight wasn't serious, but young Claribel didn't know that. The moment they started raising their voices made her nervous and jump to conclusions, but the pidgey made her feel like everything was going to be okay. Perhaps that is why Claribel wanted this pidgey so bad, taking the unnecessary extremes to get it. Maybe the sight of one made her feel happier and safer in the world, even at the age of twenty. A weak gasp escaped the Pidgey's unconscious form as he was drawn into the Pokeball as the whirring mechanisms absorbed him into its depths. Tears pricked at his eyes as his feathers shivered and quivered in fear. This wasn't fair. It just wasn't fair. The Pidgey's struggles were weak. Half hearted. With a tearful sigh, he gave on as the Pokeball chimed. Capture complete. He was a tamed Pokemon now. As the battle concluded, the observing wild Pokemon turned their backs and walked or flew away, or returning to their families, friends, food or sleep. Perhaps this was for the best. They had been observing that Pidgey for several days now, and he wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway. Humans had triumphed over this Pidgey's wild side- or lack thereof. It was for the best. ::pidgey:: You caught Pidgey. Level: 7 Abilities: Keen Eye and Tangled Feet Attacks: Tackle. Sand Attack Personality: Fearful. Unaccustomed to the wild. Scared of Claribel.
