Chris and Abel made their way through the snow covering the Route. Chris was freezing cold, but this didn't stop him from continuing on despite Abel's constant requests that he stopped. "Thanks Abel" Chris said with a slight smile. "But I can't afford to stop. I need to find a doctor about my condition, and nothing's going to stop me."

There was a noise from one of the frozen trees. Without warning, a multi-colored parrot dropped into the snow, flapping it's wings wildly. Twisting it's head around, it spotted Chris with it's keen eyes, and glared.
"Chaaaat~" It squawked, jumping to it's feet and preparing for attack. It shook off it's wings, which were encased with snow from the fall.

"Wow, a Chatot" Chris said with a smile. He already knew of Chatot being able to talk human language, if only a couple of words at any one time. "Alright Abel, you're up. Start with Ember!" Chris commanded.

"Start with ember!" It mimicked, jumping to the side and allowing the flames to pass by it's left side unharmed. Eyes glowing a soft white, it unleashed it's own embers at Abel, copying the Charmeleon's attack flawlessly.
It was proud of itself. Hopping from side to side, it continued to mindlessly chatter in a high-pitched voice. "Start with ember, start with ember!"

Abel held his ground, allowing the Embers to hit him. "Alright Abel, now try a Scratch attack!" Chris commanded. Abel immediately ran forward, preparing his claws as he stared angrily at the Chatot.

Chatot let out a shrill cry, sharp claws ripping into it's chest. It ruffled it's feathers angrily, making itself appear larger, and charged. Again it copied Abel's attack. Using the talons on it's feet as claws, it aimed for Abel's legs. After all, it was a short pokemon.
"Scratch attack!" It screeched.

This time, Abel was able to jump over the Chatot, smiling as he attacked with Ember once more. "Awesome work Abel" Chris said with a smile.

"Awesome work Abel, work Abel, Awesome," Chatot squawked to itself, flames scorching it's wings, rendering them entirely useless. It continued to hop in the snow, a misguided ember attack melting some of the ice around it's feet. Mirror Move seemed to be it's favorite attack.

"Geez, this is getting annoying" Chris sighed, shaking his head. "Abel, please finish this as soon as possible." Giving a nod, Abel attacked with Ember.

"Getting annoying!" It screeched, taking the full force of the attack. Suddenly angry, it charged at Abel with it's beak, once again aiming for the Charmeleon's legs. Mirror Move forgotten entirely, it focused on pecking the crap out of whatever it came across. It paused midway to peck at a leaf on the ground.

Abel merely laughed as the Chatot stopped. "Use Scratch while it's distracted!" Chris yelled. Abel ran forward once more, claws at the ready.

Abel's claws ripped into it's chest, coating it's feathers in a thin layer of it's own blood. It spun around to regain it's senses. And failed.
With a cry that surprisingly wasn't human, it collapsed into the snow, beak-first.
Chatot has been defeated! Abel has gained 1 level! To attempt a capture, toss a pokeball! Or move on and leave it behind.

"Great work Abel" Chris laughed, giving Abel a high five. "Now come on, we'd better get going. We need to get to a doctor fast." Abel's arm had been given quite a nasty cut on his arm, so Chris obviously had the same problem. But it was worse for him due to the fact that he wasn't a Fire Pokemon.

It was mid-day. Howling winds picked up quickly, whipping around a flurry of ice and snow. It was quickly elevating into a full-blown snowstorm.
"Halt," A gloved hand was thrust in Chris' face, masked at first by the snow. A raven-haired woman with a pink hat grinned at the boy, clutching a pokeball in her other hand. "Nobody passes through here without battling me first!"
Karyn had never been one to take things slowly.

"Look, I don't have time for this" Chris growled, slowly becoming colder. "I need to find some shelter, preferably before my blood freezes over." However, the fact that Karyn wasn't going to let him pass only made things more difficult and before Chris knew it, he was on his knees, trying desperately to keep himself warm. He knew the blood that had come out of his arm was now totally frozen and if he didn't find any more warmth soon (Abel couldn't give him too much), he would probably freeze to death.

The girl nervously tugged on the lavender strings that sprouted limply from her hat as the male she had just challenged moments before scowled at her, soon after collapsing where he once stood onto the snowy, icy earth below. She only grasped the sphere that was held in her left and tighter and, soon enough, it quietly click open to reveal the Delibird held inside.
"Santa, try and keep him warm."
After commanding the flying-type, Karyn lashed from her pocket a cloth-like bandage; obviously this girl was prepared for the dangers this mountain withheld. With her dark lavender gloved hands, she offered the bandage to Chris.
"Wrap it around the cut."
The Delibird, who was obviously named Santa by the girl, huddled by Chris in an attempt to warm him as commanded with the thick coat of crimson feathers the bird possessed.

"Thank you for your help" Chris whispered, taking the cloth from Karyn. "But truthfully, I'm not the problem. I would be fine if I had some more healing supplies for Abel here." He made a waving motion to his Charmeleon. "I feel my Pokemon's pain you see, so if they're healthy, then I'm healthy. I'm not a fire Pokemon though, so I feel the cold really badly. This is why I need to find a doctor."

Karyn flashed him a soft smile. "I don't know if there are any doctors, but I think there are some herbal medicine shops in town..."
She offered him her hand. "It's at least four days in that direction," she jerked her head to the left. "But I know a place you can rest up for now. Come with me."

Taking her hand, Chris suddenly felt a little shocked. "Wait, so you actually believe me?" he asked. "I normally have to prove it by my Pokemon injuring themselves."

She blinked. "Why wouldn't I? That's too crazy of a story for somebody just to make up. Besides, nobody ever refuses my challenges," snickering, she began to walk. Slowly at first, wading through the snow carefully. It was deep enough in places to swallow a person whole.
