Zane just chuckled. "They don't have a bond with you, they fear you." He said. He walked away from her and stopped by Josh's side. "I'm a little like him, if you'd say...I earn the trust of my Pokemon. They trust me to do what's best for them, as do I. But, I make sure they don't plan on turning on me." He stopped for a moment and looked back. "Everyone does things differently, you're no different. You make your Pokemon fear you, I make mine trust me and act on their own and..." He pointed at Josh. "Him, I'm not too sure." He said with a blank stare.

Eleanor smiled as she watched the Skitty jump up on Joshua's shoulder. "Bond. Fear. It's all the same thing in the end," she murmured, tilting her head to one side. "Your Pokemon may be strong, but so are mine. You choose companionship. I choose weapons. Armament."
"And besides that, I have some Pokemon I have formed a "bond" with." Sending out her Pidgey, Aeria, the avian landed on her other shoulder and stared unflinchingly at Eris with a glint of curiosity in her eyes. >Are they talking about their boring morals as usual?" the Pidgey cooed before raising her wing to Eris. Although a human wouldn't be able to tell this, it was a sign of respect.
Eleanor continued. "While you balue companionship, I don't. I value traditional strength. This Combee was a pathetically sweet wretch who couldn't even defend herself in battle." Eleanor gripped the Combee's frail carapace rather tightly, making the raw wounds ache. "And I will make it strong. Dull its weakness. Is that so wrong?" she smiled coldly.

It seemed there was a rift opening between their separate beliefs and values. He gave a quiet, icy chuckle at Zane's words. "My Pokemon and I... we share an understanding," he said, running pale fingers through the soft fur of Eris' flank. She purred in response and closed her eyes momentarily, until he withdrew his hand.
Eris lifted her coiled tail in response to the Pidgey's gesture, returning it as well as giving a slight nod, to indicate non-hostile intentions. <They are,> she purred, nudging her trainer. He could, of course, understand his Pokemon, and so he merely raised a brow at the words and smirked slightly. "Boring morales. Well, I suppose they can be drab." At any rate, they seemed to be at an odd sort of agreement now.
"There are ways of dulling weakness that do not require cruelty," Joshua said simply. He wasn't going to agree with her, but he wasn't being openly hostile.

"Of course there are," murmured Eleanor as the Combee shivered, blinking away tears as Eleanor gave her a disgusted look. "But fear is my way forward. I don't want companionship, and I don't want this little bee growing soft." She tightened her grip on the Combee's wings, making her cry out weakly in pain before Eleanor released the little insect
"She'll become desensitized. She will realize that to earn happiness she must be ruthless. Cold. She must discard her friendly personality, and fear what she should fear. Pokemon are your companions, and I respect that. But they are tools. And if they fail me, I replace them." Eleanor smiled as she looked at the Combee for emphasis, who looked away, a few tears trickling down her cheek as she sucked in a sorrowful intake of breath.
Aeria looked at Josh as he understood his Pokemon and fluttered towards him curiously, tilting her head as she flapped her wings casually to stay airborne. >You're an interesting one,< she murmured, her mature gaze looking him over. >Your name. Tell me.<

Zane shook his head. "I don't undrstand your ways." He admited to the girl. "I agree more with the other." He said. By other he meant Josh, but of course, he didn't know his name at the time.
Zane slowly pulled Astro's ball out. Astro was on the ground in a matter of seconds. He looked up and Zane then at the others. He bowed in hello and stayed at Zane's feet. He was back to his normal self now. "My Pokemon don't fear me, I earn their trust first." He said, a cold stare directed at the girl.

"If that makes you happy, then so be it." Eleanor met Zane's cold stare with the tiniest of smiles. "I don't want trust or friendship. I don't need a companion. Or a pet. They're leeways to power, and that's all."
Aeria rolled her eyes at this as Eleanor continued. "You can have friends, and I'll have tools. The end result is of no importance so long as my Pokemon respect, fear and obey me in equal measure. And they do."
