Sam decided to go back to Shasta Ruin after his first digging expedition had gone so poorly. This time he chose to use another Pokémon as his Poochyena had utterly failed him. He thought as a dog, it would be perfect... But it wasn't as it did not know Pickup and thus was vastly limited. This time Sam decided that it was perfect to use his good old bread and butter, Gligar. It had been his starter Pokémon and had been his good old reliable for the entire time. Unlike Poochyena who didn't really do much digging as he was confused at what Sam was saying... Old reliable was better. Sam began to get a shovel and dig. This time he was not wearing his scarf as he had gotten a little dirt on it last time and he didn't want that to happen again. And his clothes weren't the fanciest as this was rigorous activity, not a way to of looking good. Gligar saw Sam digging and he too decided to help by clawing his way through. He was using his old reliable attack... Metal Claw to forcefully break some of the stones. It was an attack that he learned from birth, and one that has assisted Sam throughout their endeavors. Sam wished his Gligar knew a better attack, like Rock Smash as it'd be much faster. But Metal Claw would have to work now... Breaking stones with Metal Claw. Not as effective as Rock Smash though Sam is digging himself too

After hearing about all the hype in the ruins, Piper decided that it was about time she went down there and visited it for herself. But things weren't starting off so well. First, she only had to choose one Pokémon. What the hell was that? Why only one? She was mad about it, but decided to take her Gyarados in just for the heck of it. Not to mention with his size and strength, clearing this area would be a total breeze. Next, it was unbelievably dusty. Okay, yeah she should of expected a place filled with nothing but dirt and rocks to be a little dusty, but the air was thick with it and the smell of dry earth and metal kept filling her nose, causing her to sneeze. She wasn't exactly a happy camper at the moment. Her and her 21 foot tall Pokémon wandered the area, trying to find a good spot to start digging. In the distance she spotted someone else digging, but simply didn't think anything of it. She got down on the ground in a pair of old jeans and a baggy t-shirt and started sifting through the ground. "Come on Santana," she said, looking to the Gyarados for a moment, before he nodded and used his tail to pick up some of the large rocks and move them aside.

Sam noticed a girl had joined them. She was medium height, perfect for him, around 5'4" and she had dark brown hair with a little pink in the end. It looked very unique and made her stand out a bit. She was also very uniquely dressed and she had one of the largest pokemon he has seen in a while. When he first spotted her, he found it hard to keep his eyes away. And when Gligar first spotted her Gyarados he began to remember the first battle he had ever had in his life. A battle against a Steelix, almost the same size as this Gyarados who just completely bullied him. He thought he was going to die that time and he began to shiver and cower when he saw the Gyarados. Gligar began to increase his speed as he attempted to flee from the spot. He tried to run away by using Quick Attack but then felt bad for leaving his trainer there alone with this woman and her gyarados. He did not trust them to be with his trainer... Sam meant too much to him, seeing that he was Sam's first pokemon and thus Gligar decided to suck in his fear and meet the two. Sam began to walk near the girl and her Gyarados and Gligar attempted to ignore them and continue digging as he did not want to get close to such a monstrous pokemon. Sam looked back and realized his Gligar had not followed them, and seeing his pokemon shake while he was digging, he decided to just leave it alone and have his Gligar do his own thing while he introduced himself... <"Hi my name is Sam and I like the pink in your hair. I have never seen that before.">Sam said as he stuck out his hand for Piper to shake. ::Gligar:: Mood: VERY VERY SCARED Decided to dig and leave his trainer there by himself... Sam went over to greet Piper

Piper lightly laughed at the nervous Gligar said hello. Poor thing looked terrified. She smiled warmly at the little pokemon (when compared to her Gyarados), looking much more relaxed than her previous smile did. "He may look big and scary," she began, speaking softly to the purple pokemon, "but he's like a Teddiursa." As she finished speaking, the Gyarados would lay down, resting it's head near Piper as she patted him, almost like he was a giant puppy dog. Santana closed his eyes and lied there as Piper turned to the boy. "So why didn't you give your Gligar a name?" she asked, with a hint of curiosity in her tone. She couldn't imagine just calling Santana just plain old "Gyarados". She felt as if giving each pokemon their own name made them more unique, more different than just calling them by their species. It was like calling another person "human" for the rest of their lives, it didn't sound quite right.

Sam was taken aback when the girl would not shake his hand... But he could tell that she did not have a personal vendetta against him or anything as she noticed that Gligar was scared of Gyarados and she told her pokemon to be less intimidating... He then thought that the Gyarados might not be too bad so he gestured Gligar to come over and interact with her and her pokemon. Gligar was hesitant but had to do what he was ordered... He didn't want to anger Sam.
Sam then noticed that the girl had spoken, saying he was too formal and this made him laugh. He did not think it was formal at all to shake someone's hand. He thought that it was just common courtesy... And when she smiled at him, he noticed how awkward that came out and how fake it looked. Maybe she wasn't really interested in interacting at all, or maybe she was just very awkward. Either way, he wasn't just going to leave her alone and have them do their own separate thing.
He knew that they would be in here, just the two of them, as it was only big enough to keep two people. And if they wanted to find something, they'd have to be here for a while so they had to get to know each other.
He wanted his Gligar to meet the Gyarados then while they were at it. <"This is my Gligar, he doesn't have a nickname unlike your Gyarados."> and he had his Gligar get close to them to say hi... Gligar was very shy because he was very intimidated by the Gyarados.
::Gligar:: Saying hi to both of you. He is shy and scared of the Gyarados

Gligar did not understand exactly what Piper had told him but he sensed that her intent was positive... He sensed from her voice and the way she combined her phrases that she was trying to calm him down and show that Gyarados really wasn't that bad. He also heard Teddiursa which is a very cute pokemon so that made him think that Piper was trying to calm him down. But it was just too hard to calm down someone who was in a state of shock. Especially seeing the intimidating stature of Gyarados... It did not make him calm down at all. He even noticed Gyarados lie there as a little puppy being petted by Piper but that didn't make him feel easier at all. He was still very scared because the Steelix was kind of friendly too, but when she attacked... She wasn't so friendly anymore. He felt like he was going to die that day, and just a few moves by Gyarados did not make him feel any better... Sam heard Piper's question and it really made him think hard... Why didn't he give Gligar a game? As a matter of fact, why hasn't he given a name to almost all of his pokemon? It was a good question, especially since the bond between a human and their pokemon does usually improve when they are given a nickname. Why is it that his Gligar is only called "Gligar" and not something special? He thought of it for a second but really could not think of a true genuine answer. So he had to make up a lie as he didn't want to just stand there, stumped. It wasn't going to be an elaborate lie but it was just going to be a little lie to change the submit. <"I guess the reason why I never named my Gligar is because I have always felt that there is a barrier between a pokemon and their trainer that they should never pass... Ash never named his Pikachu, even though it was his best friend. So I never named my Gligar."> The story was complete baloney, but he hoped she'd buy it. Maybe she didn't even know who Ash was and this would make it easier for him to get away with the lie... He also chose to change the subject quickly and put it back to about her... <"So why did you name your Gyarados Santana? Boyfriend name or something?"> It was a good question... killing two birds with one stone. Finding out why Gyarados was named Santana, and also finding out if she was single or not. Suddenly Gligar, still terrified at the Gyarados decided to go back to digging... He picked up a large rock with his claws and held it up over his head to move. But suddenly, fear and anticipation that Gyarados was breathing down his neck and looking to eat him... Gligar dropped the rock and it came crashing down towards him... ::Gligar:: Mood: Still terrified of Gyarados Dropped large rock. Coming down towards him fast, will Gyarados intervene to make them come at peace? Sam made up a baloney story to change the subject quick.

Piper blinked before looking sympathetically to the Gligar. Something must of really happened to make it so frightened of Santana... but she guessed she really couldn't change it's opinion of him if it was already set. Hearing the boys answer, her eyebrow shot up. "A barrier?" she asked. So naming a Pokémon was crossing this "barrier"? What the hell? She frowned, not exactly liking the answer he gave to her. She was about to ask if he could explain this "barrier" a little bit more, but he quickly changed the subject. Again, she was taken back by his question but simply said, "No." Her eyes adverted to the small hole she had dug before her and closing her eyes. "It's the name of a singer, he was quite famous in a different region awhile back," she explained. "He sings one of my favorite songs." There was a certain fondness in her voice as the melody of the song floated through her head. She has always loved older singers and their music, much more than all this rap and hip hop that seemed to spread around. It was so much more hearty, soothing to the ear, and more down to earth.
Santana had opened his eyes when she stopped patting him and watched the frightened Gligar continue digging. He felt bad as he watched it dig. Oh why did he have to evolve into such a frightening looking creature? He huffed again, causing Piper's hair to blow in her face. A small laugh passed her lips, which made the Gyarados smile in repose, but his eyes caught the Gligars arms shake before giving way. He quickly brought his tail up and wrapped it around the rock, easily catching it. "Oh, nice job Santana," Piper said as he took the rock and placed it on the ground.

Gligar saw the huge rock coming for him and began to duck for cover, hardening his body to take the impact of the hit. But there was no impact. When he looked up, he saw the large Gyarados grab the rock with it's tail. This made him freak out as he thought the Gyarados was now going to smack him in the face with the rock. But suddenly, she just put down the rock and Gligar began to get a little more calm at the sight of the Gyarados. It was different from the large Steelix he had seen. This one seemed friendly, and nicer, she wasn't just putting up a front it seemed. Gligar began to fly up near the Gyarados to thank you. "Thank you so much for saving my life. And I'm sorry I have not been so receptive. I just have a bad experience with very large pokemon... My first battle was against a large Steelix who almost killed me.">[/color] He then flew back to Sam who saw that the Gyarados had saved his pokemon's life. <"Thank you for saving my pokemon's life. I owe you for that."> He said to Piper. Then he took a second and thought about her initial question some more... and still he had no response. Hopefully she would have forgotten now and they can move on while he changes the subject. <"So we are going to be here for a while if we want to find some nice treasure. Do you want to work together? This spot is only big enough for two people and two pokemon, so we have reached maximum capacity. But we can definitely move the rocks faster and dig faster if we put in all our efforts together.">He asked Piper for help now as two is better than one, and four is better than two, when it comes to digging. The size of Gyarados and the craftiness of Gligar can definitely speed up this process... So he was wondering if they had a strategy they could use to dig further. So I feel that to be most efficient we should give each other a list of attacks our pokemon knows so we have an idea of what exactly we are working with while we are digging here... <"My Gligar knows: Aqua Tail, Quick Attack, Metal Claw, Knock Off, Poison Sting, Sand Attack, and Harden. What does your Gyarados know that can help us?">He took a second and thought about how far his Gligar had come. When they started out it only knew Sand Poison Sting, Sand Attack, and Metal Claw... Now it knows 4 extra attacks making a total of seven. He was very proud of his Gligar... <"We can definitely try to do something with Aqua Tail, Quick Attack, Metal Claw, Knock Off, Poison Sting... Maybe even Harden and Sand Attack... Do you have any idea? It'd be helpful to pull in all our moves together to get something done."> ::Gligar:: Appreciative of Steelix saving his life
Sam gave Piper Gligar's moveset and asked her for Gyarados'... Wants to put the two together to speed up the digging process

Santana was surprised to be so warmly thanked, but he just nodded his head in response. "No you don't owe me anything," Piper began, not thinking much about the whole thing. "Santana was the one who saved your pokemon's life. If anything you owe him." Her eyes flickered to the giant blue beat next to her, whose tail was shifting back and forth. Of course, the subject changed once again(he liked to do that a lot..) to working together. She paused for a moment to think. Santana was pretty powerful enough and could probably clear away most of this without using but his brutal strength. But she supposed another set of hands might be helpful in a way, plus this kid wasn't terribly annoying she suppose. Her face went from rather impassive to surprised at the list Same gave her about his pokemon's moves. Holy crap that was a lot of attack. She sighed, "he doesn't really know anything that might help, but I'm sure his strength alone could clear out some of these bigger rocks that probably have a lot of rare stuff under it!"
Santana was still only barely evolved, so of course he didn't know very many moves that might help with digging.. Maybe that was a sign she should go buy some TMs for the big guy so that he could have a few more powerful attacks. "He knows tackle, thrash, and bite," she said, listing all the moves. Of course she left out flail. That attack was pretty much useless in every way possible.. "Like I said, not all that great digging moves," she said as she wiped her hands on her pants.

Sam took a second after listening to Piper list her Gyarados' moves and thought of a strategy that could potentially work... He wasn't entirely sure but he gave it some thought about the move and wondered if it would do anything or not... <"Since your Gyarados is so immensely big, his movements should get rid of a lot of rocks... Do you think it would work if I use Aqua Tail on some of the rocks to make them wet and you thrash them to get them to break quicker?">He wasn't sure if wet rocks would be easier to work with than dry rocks... It was a start, and definitely something they could do together. But he wasn't entirely sure if it would work or not... He hadn't given it as much thought as he probably should have... <"Or we can do something with my pokemon's metal claw... But I do not know what yet. Do you have any strategy that we can use?">Sam really wanted to work together with Piper because he had barely gotten anywhere doing it alone... An extra pair of hands will help immensely compared to doing it alone, because there is honestly too many rocks to move alone... Gligar listened on and what he collected was "Aqua Tail" and "Metal Claw." He was put on standby, ready to be directed and use both techniques if he needed to... ::Gligar:: Ready to use Aqua Tail or Metal Claw if need be... Sam is asking Piper if she knows what they can do...

Piper just simply shrugged. "Personally I don't think we really have to use any sort of fancy moves," she began, digging her hands into the dry soil. It was difficult to do, but she was determined to find something in these dry and barren ruins. Using Aqua Tail would only turn it into mud, and make it more difficult to cracked sand bits and rocks."Just start digging," and she gave Santana a look before going back to digging. The large water pokemon began clearing some rocks with his tail, either "sweeping" or physically picking them up. Underneath the rocks, the soil seemed to be a bit softer, so Piper began to dig in there as well, not paying much mind to Sam or what he did. Santana paused and looked back to the blond and his pokemon, before motioning them to get working too. Piper did NOT wanna be stuck here forever under the sun, and probably getting a sub burn, just to find nothing.

Sam just brushed her off, a little annoyed that she would not strategize with him... Especially since he felt two people were definitely better than one. But if she wasn't going to help him... Well he didn't need her. He'll just do it himself. He began to push a few rocks out of the way and he ordered his Gligar to do the exact same thing. Batman began to pick up a few rocks with his claws and move them slowly, one by one. It wasn't the fastest or the most efficient method but it would work for now while he continued to contemplate how he could potentially speed up this process. Batman wasn't as large as Santana which hindered Sam as he could not move as many, or as fast, as she can. But Gligar was crafty and had more techniques than Santana... The problem was, none of which seemed helpful at the moment... So Sam just stuck with moving them physically until they could find an easier way to get through it... ::Gligar:: Physically moving rocks one by one with Sam.

The girl's eyes locked on the boy for a moment before she rolled her eyes. Maybe he should of chosen a stronger looking pokemon? Piper had known that a part of this whole "digging" process was going to have to be clearing out rocks that were in the way, and digging up big piles of dirty. Gligar was a bit small, and though it knew lots of useful moves, they weren't necessary for moving rocks. Breaking up the rocks would only make more of a mess, having to pick up pieces, which is why Piper had Santana simply move them. Craftiness wasn't good for moving rocks either. Moving rocks just took strength and not much thought, so did digging, just clearing sand and dirt out of the way. It was a mindless act that didn't require much thinking. So seeing the boy get.. frustrated with her only made her roll her eyes. He was the one who wanted to work with her, so why now was he suddenly so quiet? She simply let out a laugh and continued digging.

Sam felt that Piper began to judge him the minute she started laughing at him... And he felt even worst when he saw Piper move her rocks at ease and he himself was struggling here. He did not choose the right pokemon for this at all. Batman was awesome, his first pokemon and he really enjoyed having him on Sam's team... But he was not the best for moving rocks. And it showed right here. He just continued to strenuously move them one by one. It took a long time but he was starting to make some process... A few were being moved and soon there were spaces for him to just break rocks to dig further in... Sam started to do this to help his case. <"Batman, use Metal Claw continuously to dig deeper onto those rocks."> He said as Gligar began to claw his ways past a few rocks to get further in and make a bit more progress. It made a mess everywhere but it was somewhat efficient. The rocks weren't moved but they were broken which cleared up space for him to see what was under them. And after Batman broke enough, he started to move the rest himself manually. It was a nice strategy although due to Batman's limitation... Not the most efficient way of moving rocks. If only he had a digging pokemon at this time. A Diglett would have been awesome. But he wasn't going to let it ruin his day. He smiled back at Piper after making some progress, not a lot but he hoped she would not notice this. <"Gligar isn't a bad choice. Look how far I'm getting right now!"> He said to the girl although if she actually stopped and looked, she would see that he did not get too far. It was all an illusion actually... What he hoped for more than anything was to have her Gyarados help him out here. Gligar could break the rocks quickly so Gyarados can move them. That way they can see if there was anything inside of the rocks or to the side of it before they were moved. Moving an entire rock isn't the most efficient as something could have been hidden... But this method wasn't the best either because neither Batman nor Sam were particularly big or strong enough to move them as quickly as Santana would be... He just hoped that Piper would help him now... <"How is your progress going? Mine is going splendid right now!"> He hoped she was struggling but by the looks of it, that didn't seem to be the case... ::Gligar:: Used Metal Claw to break rocks to see if there is anything inside... Before Sam and Gligar both move them out of the way.

Was this boy.. trying to impress her? She couldn't help but raise a darkly colored eyebrow before stopping her digging and stare at the boy. Santana also took noticed, as he stared, a rather unmoved expression on his face before he glanced down to Piper, who returned his gaze for a second before she shrugged. They were kinda slow, which made Piper cringe internally when he said he was doing well. He was either trying to gain her sympathy, or was honestly believing he was doing well. Either was she was probably going to have to help him. Piper motioned the large water pokemon to where Sam was before quietly digging in the slightly softened dirt where Santana had moved the rocks. The Gyarados sighed before moving around and moving some rocks near Sam and his pokemon. He honestly did want to move rocks in the first place, it seemed like mindless labor, but Piper had seemed determined to find something of value here, which had sparked his interests a bit. Now actually being here and moving these rocks was tiring and rather boring. He looked a bit grump, but didn't complain or whine, it'd only make this work seem more, so he continued to move rocks without a single word.

Sam was glad that Piper and Santana had decided to help him as he was breaking a lot of sweat moving the rocks himself... He had not thought it would be this hard but it happened to surprise him. <"Thank you."> He said to her before he decided to move some of the rocks himself... Batman also stopped breaking the rocks with his claws as it seemed to work ineffectively with the Gyarados now helping him. The Gyarados was large and moved rocks by the bulk, not by breaking them... Batman just simply did what Gyarados was doing but in a slower pace. He picked up one rock at a time and moved them one at a time with Sam. Sam then looked over at Piper again and asked her a nice conversing question. <"So how long have you been here?"> They were still going to be here for a while so he did not see the harm in sparking up a conversation... ::Gligar:: Moving rocks instead of breaking them Sam asked Piper a question

Man turned over onto his stomach, holding his head with both hands. "Will you knock off that FUCKING NOISE!?" he half yelled, half moaned. It was an odd combination of sounds to be sure.
Hungover from last night's party, Syl had somehow found himself shirtless and shoeless and covered with dirt on the ground. A few stray beer cans lay around him in a circle, proof of his good time.
When the noise didn't stop, Syl awkwardly stood, failing to notice or even care about the dirt and stray rocks covering his pale bare chest. Growling, he whipped out the only pokeball he had on him at the time and tossed it. Tiny pink pixie appeared, taking one long hard gaze at her master and trying not to giggle.
<Rough night?> her telepathic voice only made his headache worse.
"Shut the fuck up," he hissed, grabbing her by the tails and wandering off to find the source of the noise. laughing at Syl

Sam turned around and noticed a boy with long red hair and a bit womanish features. The boy also carried an incredibly rare pokemon, one he had never seen before but had heard about. <"Is that... Is that... Is that a Mespirit?"> He thought to him. It looked exactly like one but who and what was this trainer to have such a rare pokemon?
<"Who is this guy? He must be something special..."> Sam thought as he noticed Syl there with his Mespirit. It was an interesting sight as the trainer did not look too professional, he had drank a lot and had passed out in the ruin. He did not even know where he was. So he wasn't exactly the most "noble" trainer.
But a trainer with a legendary pokemon... That was a rare site. This wasn't a person he wanted to mess with at all... Might as well get on his nice side... Sam thought to himself.
He walked over to Syl and introduced himself. <"Hi my name is Sam Robins. What is your name? It seems that the other girl had left a while ago... I hadn't even realized..."> He said.
He was sincerely interested in finding out who this person was and why this person had a Mespirit. He had never even in his wildest dreams thought he'd see a rare legendary pokemon. And yet here he was... spotting a Mespirit in front of him.
<"May I ask, is that a Mespirit?"> He asked. Blushing a bit. Syl was a bit cute, but he did not notice that at all as the Mespirit just occupied his entire attention...

Syl hissed, letting go of Sen. She whacked his arm playfully with her tails, glad to be free.
<Yup, I'm a Mesprit~!> she made sure to project her psychic voice at Sam gently-- some people were a bit afraid at first. She wasn't sure why, after all she was about as threatening as a kitten. <My name is Sen~ This is Syl. He's hung over.>
"Were you the one making all that noise?" Syl glanced at Sam and sneered. Kid sure looked like a weakling. "If you wanted shards, all you have to do is this! SEN!"
She let out a tiny sigh. <Excuse me a moment.> Gem on her forehead and tails glowed. There was a sudden explosive BOOM and the entire left wall collapsed into a pile of glittery rubble. ::mesprit:: used psychic on the wall
