Pan knew this very well. Back home, she was an absolute wreck and made so many mistakes on peoples orders when she worked at Olivine Cafe. Back then, she was just a girl and it was excusable, so she was not sure how she would fare on her own. Medea looked up and scowled at Sam when he said that she might get beat up a few times, but she stayed near her trainer.
Pan chuckled, "It seems like Medea doesn't like the idea, but losing makes you stronger, right?" She was awfully optimistic for someone who has never lost a battle, but she has never won one either. Her trainer status was pathetic. All she had was a pretty little pokeball, and an unruly aipom. How could she call herself a trainer with those odds?
Pan moved her hands behind her as the bagon wished for his "daddy". "It seems like she wants you," She noted, smiling up at Sam. She did not find this insulting, but if the Pokémon wanted its trainer she could not stop him. "We should probably get back to digging..." She said, as she looked around the room. There was a lot of dirt on the ground where the two Pokémon had been attacking the walls, and bits of shiny looking objects here and there.

Sam turned his head just in time when he saw the purple monkey scowl him when he mentioned getting >beaten up<. He laughed a bit, finding it ridiculous how serious Pokémon get when they hear about getting beaten up to get stronger. Honestly, there was no way to improve unless one loses a couple of times too. The best trainer in the world has his losses. Champions lose also. They must lose for a new champion to come in. Everyone loses, it is part of nature and part of the world. He laughed when the Aipom did not like the sound of that, it's a hard thing to get used to but it's part of life. Even Toothless, who had gotten so strong lately, had lost her fair share of matches. Speaking of Toothless, he gladly took her back and began to rub her head while he stood there talking to Pan. Until she quickly got uncomfortable and changed the topic. "Back to digging? Sure!" He said, although he did not put Toothless down on the ground yet. She wasn't ready to get back on the ground to dig, so he wasn't going to force that on her. "Just keep it in mind. You have to take chances. You win some, you lose some. Either way you'd get stronger." He said to her before he went back to his side. Pan smiled as Sam took back his Pokémon. Not because she was happy to get rid of it and start working, but because they looked... beautiful together. They seemed like a whole, like they needed each other and somehow, Pan wanted something like that too. She turned to Medea, who was smiling up at her, practically demanding the same attention. Pan returned the expression, "Ready to get back to work?"
Medea's smile then faltered.
"Just keep it in mind. You have to take chances. You win some, you lose some. Either way you'd get stronger."
Pan nodded as she stood up. Sam was right. She was never going to get anywhere if she did not battle and train as hard as she could. She suddenly felt silly coming down here. Did she even need shards to redeem for god knows what? "Thank you, Sam," She gave him a warm smile. It was good advice, and she wanted to make sure he knew she acknowledged that.
She bent over, grabbing her took kit and opening it for the first time. Medea went over to grab the hammer she had stolen from Sam, and returned to her trainer. Pan took out the sickle, and examined it. She gripped it by the shaft and put the kit down. Pan turned to Sam once again, "What was it like, at the academy I mean?" She asked, hoping for another story. She began to clink clink clink at the wall, and Medea mimicked her motion with the hammer. At first legitimately, but after half a dozen hits she started to make faces. Pan sighed.

Sam finally put Toothless down who began to headbutt the rocks for no good reason. She was bored and felt like giving her muscle some work and the best way she knew was through the headbutts. Sam laughed as he saw Toothless headbutt the walls, a normal trainer would be worried but with her hard head. It didn't seem to impact her one bit. It was then that the girl asked him a question. He was so focused on his Bagon that he completely forgot the question after it was asked. Blushing and looking embarrassed. He quickly gave in and asked Pan to repeat herself again. "Sorry I was preoccupied. Can you repeat your question?" He asked, giving her a smile. It was an honest mistake. He guaranteed it. ::Bagon:: Summary: Headbutt the rocks Name: Toothless Gender: Female Level: 26.5 Item: Wise Glasses (Boost Special Attack) Attack Set 1: Hydro Pump, Thrash, Dragon Pulse, Headbutt Attack Set 2: Focus Energy, Leer, Twister, Ember Ability: Rock Head

As soon as her sickle began hammering the walls, dirt and other various objects began to fall from the wall. Pan felt satisfaction as she finally began to work on obtaining these shards she had heard so much about. She did not know what they were used for, but it seemed like a big deal. Pan looked down at her aipom, who had stopped mocking her as soon as she felt Pan's eyes on her. The trainer squatted down so she was near eye level with her Pokémon. "Hey, thanks for being.... y'know, tolerable." She half-complimented.
Medea only smirked, "Don't get used to it." Then she turned her attention to the wall and the hammer. Pan smiled, getting used to her antics, and she too returned to the work on the wall. I wonder how many calories I'm burning doing this, The strange thought passed her mind, but it quickly left. Wasn't that what always crossed teenage girls minds?
"Sorry I was preoccupied. Can you repeat your question?"
Pan looked over at Sam and smiled, "No problemm. I was just wondering what it was like at the academy. I guess it just seems interesting cuz I was never as..." Her voice trailed off. Privileged, she wanted to add, but she did not want it to come out as some snide remark. Sometimes she wondered how the other half lived. Maybe now she could have some answers?

Sam gave her a confused look when she didn't finish her sentence. She probably meant "privileged" but he honestly had no idea at the moment. He simply just looked at her, confused, before he realized that he had to answer the question now or else he'd look real dumb. "Oh the academy was good. I learned a lot about strategizing and type advantages and all that jazz." He said, not realizing how much he sounded like a braggart. "Some of my best friends were made from there. And it really made the transition to Cheyenne so much easier." He said to her as he smiled. "Any specific thing you want to know?" He asked. He had never spoke about the academy with anyone before, and he sort of liked talking about it... Toothless, meanwhile began to shoot a large twister against the rocks and laughed and clapped her hands when they all went up in a weird spiral before falling back on the ground. >Pretty! Pretty!< She said. Strategizing...? Type advantages...? Sam might as well be speaking Greek. She looked at him blankly, her clinking slowing. Was there more to battling than the standard dodge-attack-heal? She supposed that fire beat grass, just because fire sets grass on fire, and water beats fire because it puts fire out, but was there more to that? Pan sort of felt ridiculous for not knowing anything he was saying.
"Any specific thing you want to know?"
Pan thought for a moment before answering, "Yeah, actually. Uhh...." She did not know how to put it, so she just spit it out, "Strategizing? Type advantages? I'm so new to this. The only thing I know how to do is waitress and serve drunken sailors." She felt kind of dumb for not knowing such things, but she spent her life working. She hoped he would not think of her as annoying or stupid.
Medea still kept hitting the wall, but as the bagon used twisted on the rocks, the aipom felt a few pieces of rubble hit her back. She turned to the dragon Pokémon and scowled, "Hey bud, keep your dirt to yourself, would ya?" Only Medea was allowed to wreak havoc here!~

Sam smiled when she asked him. His nerdy side came out as he loved to talk about pokemon 24/7. It was basically his life so he took great joy in that. This kid looked like a newb when it came to pokemon, there was so much he could explain to her. But where does he start? "Okay, lets talk about type advantage first... As that can lead in to strategizing." He said before he took a deep breath and drank some water before he continued. "You see that pokemon you have there? The Aipom? It is a normal type... That means that it normally is not strong or weak against most things because it is, well as you say NORMAL. Thus you can use it against basically anything so it is a good choice for a starter." He said, before stopping again to see if she understood. "You see mine over here? Toothless is a dragon type. Dragon types are incredibly rare because, well, dragons are rare in general. They have their strengths against certain things and weaknesses against certain things. But we can get into that later." He said before taking another breath before explaining. "The only things special about the normal type is... It does no damage to ghost and ghost does no damage to it. And it is weak against fighting. Outside of that, it is basically the same against everything. So it would have no advantage or disadvantage against my dragon." He said before taking another breath. "My dragon type on the other hand, she's strong against fire, water, grass, and electric. But she's weak against ice and other dragons." He said, hoping that he had not lost her yet. "But those are just types, each move also has their specific type also." He said, but he waited for her to ask more questions before getting onto that. He was such a nerd when it came to pokemon lol. Toothless on the other hand, tried to listen on to her trainer but it was way over her head. She simply just went back to using twister to make rocks fly... Ignoring everything that Medea said as she chose to listen to Sam instead of Medea... So possibly angering the monkey again {TROLOLOLO} ::Bagon:: Summary: Twister on the rocks Name: Toothless Gender: Female Level: 26.5 Item: Wise Glasses (Boost Special Attack) Attack Set 1: Hydro Pump, Thrash, Dragon Pulse, Headbutt Attack Set 2: Focus Energy, Leer, Twister, Ember Ability: Rock Head

P.A.N As Sam spoke, Pan absorbed every word of information he relayed on her. Basically, she was dealing with elements on a deeper level. She turned to her aipom for a moment, glad she chose a normal type. How often would she run into ghosts, anyway?
"If each pokemon has a type, and each move has a type, then could other pokemon possibly use moves that have other types than their own?" Pan asked, the subject intriguing her. Pan hoped she could make up these lessons somehow and some way, seeing as though he was doing this without much benefit towards him. He was a nice kid. Pan liked that about it.
Pan continued with her questions, "So is this whole battling thing only about types? What about other factors?" She asked. He was her sensei and she was the unconditional student. "...like, what makes a Pokemon strong? What makes a pokemon have an advantage over another?" She hoped she did not sound needy.
Meanwhile, the aipom was getting fairly annoyed with the dragon type, who had apparently not been listening to her. Fine, if she was not going to listen to Medea then she would make her listen! "OOPS MY BAD" Medea said, loud and clear as she BOOTYBUMPED the dragon type.

Sam smiled when she asked more questions. His nerdiness really loved this and it was such a morale booster to explain all of this to her. He loved it so much, that for a 15 year old boy, it would even get him a little aroused {LOL}. He took a deep breath to calm himself down before he continued. "Yes you saw my Bagon other there. When she was Thrashing and Headbutting the rocks she was using a normal type move. When she was creating that wind, or the orb that destroyed the rocks in the beginning she was using a dragon type move." He said, smiling at Toothless who quickly smiled back at her trainer. "Tell me, do you know what moves your Aipom knows? I can tell you the type if you can list the moves." He said with a smile. He was such a nerd when it came to pokemon... When she asked about other factors, this was like an orgasm to Sam. He just loved it so much! It made him so excited! So happy! He almost blurted out "I Love You" after she asked the question... He was in such a high sensual state right now. It was kind of comical actually. "Well there are other factors like experience, effort, items, and the likes." He said before taking a deep breath to explain each one. "The more you train your pokemon the higher their experience would be. With higher experience, they'd have a greater chance of learning more moves or perfecting more moves. And the moves would do more damage because they are more apt to use them." He said, smiling at Toothless because he remembered when she was just a little pokemon who fainted from one simple hit. Now she was the powerful of his team. "And then there is effort. Attacks that are the same type as your pokemon are usually better because they put in more effort on those. But effort can work for other things too. Like if a pokemon is on the brink of fainting but just puts in that little extra push to come out victorious." He said. He was so giddy speaking about this... "Or items can help too. Items to heal, or to strengthen, or just to show love and affection. They are good too." He said. He was seriously about to explode. Toothless wasn't paying attention when the Aipom quickly booty bumped her and caused her to face plant onto the ground. Tears began to well up as she felt the monkey did it on purpose, but she wouldn't let it effect her that easily. Taking a deep breath, she instantly sent a small flame onto the bottom of the Aipom, hoping to heat up her feat while she was at it. That'd teach the purple monkey. ::Bagon:: Summary: Booty bumped. P.A.N The boy seemed so into this... but he should. He was able to go to an academy for this, and god knows how much that costed him. She sort of wished she did her own research on this, but Pan also was not expecting to go on her own Pokémon journey. Pan expected to work at the Cafe all her life, taking care of her mother and sister. She expected to find a cute sailor or trainer, and work and live at home and take care of things a trainer does not need to take care of. Kids...housework... but now, Pan was uncertain.
A Pokémon Journey yields possibility.
"Tell me, do you know what moves your Aipom knows? I can tell you the type if you can list the moves."
What moves did Medea know? Pan thought about it for a moment, trying to scramble for an answer. She did not want to seem entirely newbish, but Sam seemed to enjoy teaching her how to do this whole Trainer thing. She was grateful for his patience. "Let me think," She said aloud, and began to name off each other her aipom's attacks: Scratch, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Bounce. She paused, "I think that's it..." She said, mostly to herself.
Sam began to talk about other stuff too.... moves and how if the Pokémon type matches with the move type it works better. There were so many things that were involved with battling and raising pokemon, and for a moment Pan's head reeled with the influx of information. Silently, she doubted er abilities. Would she be abe to do this?
"....wow, that's a lot." She said, wide-eyed. She still tried to clank at the wall, but her efforts were slow and soft. She was engrossed with their conversation and she feared if she tuned him out for even a minute that she would miss something important. "That's really a lot. When you're battling do you really have to account for all that?"
Why was this dang bagon not listening to me? The aipom thought as she huffed in annoyance. The only sign of acknowledgement the dragon type gave her was the bit of ember flown at her feet. "YEEEOW" She yelped. Pan heard her pokemons scream and looked toward her aipom. The normal type had tears in her eyes as she climbed on her trainers back. "You okay, sweetie?" pan asked concerned, but Medea was too embarrassed to tell her. Pan frowned.

Sam smiled when she listed the moves of the Aipom. They were some nice moves, he wasn't going to lie about that. It seemed she got it off the lab as bounce is a nice egg move, he remembered Batman and his egg move... Metal Claw. That was also nice. "So you have a normal move in tackle and tail whip. A ground move in sand attack. And a flying move in Bounce!" He said. It was still funny seeing non flying pokemon use flying moves, but this one was able to do that. And when she asked about accounting for them all. He laughed and shrugged a bit. "I personally do but as you can tell I'm a mega nerd when it comes to this. You don't really have to, although it helps." He said before he decided to encourage her some more. "With time and experience, it will become second nature though."Toothless looked and smiled when she saw the Aipom freak and jump on the back. That was what it got for booty bumping her. She just wanted to teach the pokemon a lesson and she succeeded in doing that. But why did she feel a bit awful now? She just felt sick to her stomach for what she did to the poor monkey... Why was that. Without hesitating she quickly apologized. >Sorry Aipom! I went too far!< She said, waving at him too like a little baby after. ::Bagon:: Summary: Apologized to Aipom Name: Toothless Gender: Female Level: 26.5 Item: Wise Glasses (Boost Special Attack) Attack Set 1: Hydro Pump, Thrash, Dragon Pulse, Headbutt Attack Set 2: Focus Energy, Leer, Twister, Ember Ability: Rock Head

P.A.N There was a certain... respect Pan had for the trainer. He was smart, obviously talented, and willing to help those who needed it. More than once had he answered her questions, and Pan found herself wondering how basic these questions were. She was slowly learning though, and maybe one day she would be able to answer other peoples questions too. Sam was a good person, and she appreciated his help.
"So you have a normal move in tackle and tail whip. A ground move in sand attack. And a flying move in Bounce!"
That was weird, she looked taken aback at how her monkey pokemon. How did she knoww a flying move? However, she had oth business to attend to. Like the monkey on her back. "I don't have a taste for dragons" Medea said, staring down at the dragon. The bagon had apologized, and instead of thanking her for the apology, Medea only said, "My name is Medea." She scampered down Pan's body, and back to the wall to continue mining. This time, on the other side of the room and by her lonesome.
"Sorry about that..." Pan said, looking back to Sam. She wanted to quickly change the subject from her pokemon's outbursts, to something a bit lighter. She quickly added, "I really hope I get good at this thing. Thank you for schooling me." She chuckled, clinking away at the wall. "I guess I'm more indebted to you now than I was before?" She shrugged, smiling at him. Though the first time she was indebted to him, he wanted a date, she was a little frightened of what he would want this time!

Sam smiled as she said she was indebted to him again. She surely was one of a kind, a unique girl like none he had ever met before. "It's seriously okay! I enjoyed it! So so much!" He said as he went back to doing his own thing. Toothless this time started to create a large steam of water and began to blow up even more of the rocks with it. This time it was straight power, power that was greater than any of the other attacks she used so far. And this one was incredibly messy as the rocks flew everywhere, to Medea, to Sam, and to Pan. She quickly smiled after and scratched her hard head. >Sorry!< She said with her tongue out, completely embarrassed by what happened. Sam could only laugh as he saw her apologize. "I'm sorry about that." He said to Pan. ::Bagon:: Summary: Hydro Pump on rocks Name: Toothless Gender: Female Level: 26.5 Item: Wise Glasses (Boost Special Attack) Attack Set 1: Hydro Pump, Thrash, Dragon Pulse, Headbutt Attack Set 2: Focus Energy, Leer, Twister, Ember Ability: Rock Head

P.A.N Pan smiled. He was overly enthusastic about everything, and Pan felt comfortable around this boy. It made her feel welcome, too. She was thrusted into a strange new world, and it felt nice to make a friend out of someone who seemed so familiar with this culture. Hopefully he is the first of many. After all, what wrong could happen in Cheyenne? So far, it seemed so... peaceful. Pan felt lucky to have chosen this kind of place for her adventures.
Pan wiped the sweat off her brow as she continued to work on the walls. She was a small person, but she worked hard. She could feel her arms ache under the weight of the sickle, and she felt her stomach grumble. She laid a hand on her tummy, as if to ease the hunger, but she tried not to think about it. After all, the flailing mud and water that filled the room stole her attention away in a heartbeat.
Touching her once soft, brown hair, Pan brushed out the damp dirt in her hair with her fingers. Her face contorted into an expression of disgust as she looked at the substance on her fingers. She set down the sickle and stood up. She tried to brush off as much of the gunk that was on her as possible, but she knew a dip in a lake or (if she was lucky) a shower was in order. Medea, however, looked at the bagon in all of her muddy glory. "Nice one," She smirked at the bagon, as if the prior events had not happened.
"I'm sorry about that."
Pan shook her head, "Don't apologize, it's just a little dirt and water." She had reassured him, no matter how nasty she had felt. She turned to the silly bagon and smiled, "Though... I wonder where the water came from." An image crossed her mind, and she shuttered. "On second thought... I don't think I want to know..." She laughed nervously as she rubbed the back of her neck.
"If only you weren't muddy too... I'd offer you a hug," Pan joked, grinning from ear to ear. Medea laughed as well, but to her more than her joke. Pan turned to her once purple, now brown monkey, "You look more like a mankey than an aipom, so I wouldn't laugh if I were you." Medea shook her head, and teased, "I'm not the one with a hot date to prepare for. Let's hope you bathe before then."
Pan's face reddened, "I am a very clean person, thank you!" She said, embarrassed.

Sam smiled when he saw Pan's face redden, but it was also getting late and he had places he had to go. He quickly returned Toothless back into her pokeball before going over to Pan once more. "So a date it is? I'll give you a call some time to set it up." He said as he took his exit from the ruin. "Thank you for the adventurer and for the experience. It was a lot of fun!" He said to her before he left. Sam left the ruins.

"So a date it is? I'll give you a call some time to set it up."
Pan's face reddened, though the dirt smudged on her face covered it up. He was getting ready to leave and she was relieved that the lack of time meant he would not see her being flustered. She nodded, grabbing her own equipment and putting it back in the box. When she got up to say goodbye to Sam, he had already left. Then, she noticed Medea still had Sam's hammer, and grabbed it from the monkey, who had begun to shake off the dirt and water. Some of it got onto Pan, and she sighed.
"We need to return this..." She said, as she held onto the heavy tool. "He said I could have it...." Medea whined, and Pan just gave up, giving the tool back to her. "Just don't hit me with it, okay?" Pan laughed nervously and the aipom smiled at her. Looking around the room, Pan noticed the glint of shards on the floor and on the walls, and one by one she began to pick some off. She shoved them into her small bag and looked at her pokemon. "Ready to go?" She said, and Medea nodded. They both left shasta ruins, hopefully richer than when they came in here.
