She bit her lip as both pokemon lowered Pidgey and Buneary’s defense, then came in for the last attacks. The Natu came in too quickly for Buneary to see, the exhaustion was getting the better of her. By the time she knew where Bird was, she was already being pecked from the side, falling over to the ground shortly after. She panted heavily, her arms and legs were too weak to move at the moment and her eyes slowly closed. Pidgey was just as unlucky, Rat came in hard and fast on him too, slugging him with revenge that grounded him for the last time. Pidgey laid on stadium, motionless for a moment until he rolled over to give Rebecca a sign that he was not able to go on. She cursed something vile under her breath, disappointed that this battle was not in her favor at the moment.
“Return, Buneary, Seel. We got one down, let’s hope we can turn this around. Come on, Seel, Blaze.” She clipped two pokeballs onto her belt, pulling out two more as she did. Two more rays of light illuminated the stadium, and from them a water type Seel, and a Fire type Growlithe appeared. Blaze shot a grizzly look at the pokemon, trying to intimidate them to lower their attack strength. Seel however, just sat there, clapping happily. At the moment, the battle was in her favor in terms of type match up, with both her pokemon having a move to do nasty amount of damage to Bird. These two pokemon were her most reliable and strongest pokemon. She was sure they would be a promising match. “Seel, Icy Wind on that Natu! Growlithe, use Ember on that Ratatta and try to take it out quick!” Seel deeply inhaled then exhaled, blowing out an extremely cold wind at Bird to inflict damage. After all, ice against flying was a doozy. Growlithe snarled a bit before opening its mouth to shoot the small bits of fire at Rat.
Rebecca grinned, she felt like she was on the throne of a kingdom, holding the people it in the palm of her hand with a tight grip. This battle would be hers and there was no way Adrian would stop her. She had the advantage, so there was no way she would lighten up on her now.

Adrian yelled as she saw Rat get hit with a small but powerful flame that ended up knocking him out of the battle also. She quickly sighed and returned Rat back into his pokeball after the battle. He was very impressive, no doubt about that but unfortunately he had overstayed his due and thus had fainted. The trainer was impressive, she smiled at Rebecca and acknowledged her skill before she threw out her last pokeball. "Now it's a final two on two!" She said as Bird quickly flew to the side and missed the incoming icy wind attack. Now she had her two main pokemon so they had to really come through for her now as she was not looking forward to losing this match at all. Winning was the only option. Bird looked on at Moth who looked back at Bird before she quickly sent out a large gust in between the two pokemon. It wouldn't do a lot of damage if it hit, but it was more of an annoyance attack. Bird on the other hand quickly started to sing a lucky chant which shielded her and Moth from any critical strikes... "Alright, now it's show time!" A Ratatta that lasted this long, Rebecca would have never guessed that the silly rat pokemon could be so good in battle. Ruby saw Adrian smile to her, she was suddenly happy and fuzzy on the inside just to be smiled upon by a gym leader.
“A final two on two was exactly what I expected. This is where it gets intense, and I’m not letting up yet!” Rebecca’s heart was racing, she was fighting tooth and nail against Adrian, and it seemed she was fighting just as hard. Seel was disappointed that he had missed his attack, but his time would soon come again to nail that pesky bird with an ice move soon. So her last pokemon was a bug flying type, the Dustox was a perfect pokemon to fight against. Seel would do very well in fighting it and so would Blaze. A big, almost sinister smile crept onto her face at the realization that this fight was not only exciting, but may also be in her favor. Bird used lucky chant on Dustox, which meant fighting it would be a little harder than it usually would be. Should she double team again and bring down Dustox quickly, or should she rely on her judgment and expect Seel to do well on his own with his ice attacks?
Just then, Dustox flapped its wings to create a gust of wind strong enough to lift both of Rebecca’s pokemon off the ground and onto their backs. Rebecca was too consumed in her thought to even tell them to look out for the attack, how shameful. “Blaze, Seel, let’s get that thing back, shall we? Use Ember and Icy Wind on that Dustox!”

They were lucky that the Lucky Chant was on their side so no critical hits would be made against their dear Moth. The Dustox attempted to get out of the way of the icy wind and the hot embers, but they got both of her wings instead of canceling each other out. She pouted as she felt the pain, but her shield dust ability provented her from getting any nasty side effects like lowered speed or burns. She was glad about that at least! Bird looked up at her companion with a relieved look, before focusing on the opponents on hand.
The two Pokemon otherwise seemed ready to deal with the weak looking Growlithe and that tough looking Seel. "Not bad, not bad." Adrian commented with a laugh, rushing a hand through her hair as she smiled at her opponent. "Not a lot of trainers get me down to my last two Pokemon this easily." Ok, well maybe some have as of late, but they all trained really hard and deserved the badge!
"Moth, give that pooch a ride. String Shot and carry it into the air. Bird, teleport under it." Now this was a fun idea, inspired from an episode of Tom and Jerry. Bird cooed as she appeared directly under the Growlithe, not doing anything except lifting it off the ground a bit despite her short body. Moth then fired a string shot at the Growlithe's stomach area and then started to pull upwards in an attempt to get the fire type off the ground.
"Mid-air attack! Peck and Gust!" Adrian was quick to order, and Bird made an effort to peck the Growlithe from below while Moth fired off a Gust from her wings. The string she was holding onto trembled a lot from the winds, very likely to break if the Growlithe struggled a lot.

She tapped her foot on the ground nervously as the Dustox got up from the attack flawlessly, why did this pokemon have to be so powerful? As much as Adrian was complimenting her and her fighting, Ruby couldn’t feel the exact same feelings as Adrian. Right now, Ruby needed to win this. “It’s nice to have been honored by you, but I can’t be a great trainer until I beat you. Sorry, but I came here to win!” Ruby gave a wink to Adrian, and like Ruby said, she came to win and she was going to make sure of it. However, Dostox moves really put her in a… sticky situation. Rebecca stood where she was, staring blankly at Moth who had snatched Blaze up with a string shot then pulled him up to the air.
“Wait, what are you…” Ruby could only watch the events as they unraveled, dumbfounded by Adrians strategy. “No, no, no Blaze, try and get out of there now! No! Shit, Blaze do something!” But her words were for a lost cause, there was nothing that could be done for him. Bird pecked at him from below, and the gust kept him from lifting himself up. <No! I will not let this…. Happen…. To me!> Blaze grunted as he found enough strength to flail around in the hold that the string shot had on him. As bad of an idea as that was, it was a simple and easy solution out of the good combo that Adrian set up, because as soon as Blaze began to flail around the string broke and the Growlithe came down to the ground but not too well. Let’s just say he had better landings than that one.
Blaze shook his body to get any dirt off of him, as well as shake off the pain he had from the previous attack. <I’ve been in better situations, this one is none too flattering. Looks like you got the better end of the deal, Seel.> Blaze chuckled with Seel who seemed to have a lot of the same humor as Blaze. Both laughed for moment before looking back to their opponents. Both pokemon were opposite types, but their personalities matched a whole lot, both were care free, but Seel was more laid back. “Blaze, focus on that bird pokemon. Use Bite on it, Seel, use Icy Wind on Dustox!” Blaze crouched down before running at Bird. Blaze exposed his teeth, letting out a nasty snarl as he did, then lunged at Bird. Seel continued to do what he did best.. He clapped his flippers together as he belted out that annoying ‘arf arf’ sound before exhaling a super cold wing from his mouth.

Adrian was impressed. This Trainer was strong, being able to bring her down to her last two Pokemon like this. But now it was time to show her what her Pokemon can really do now.
Bird took the Bite attack. The fangs digging deep and making her chirp out loud. She jumped back and distanced herself from the Growlithe. She had hope to bring down the Growlithe soon, mostly because it was a threat to both Bird and Moth. But Moth had her own problems now. The Icy Wind brought Moth down quick. The cold wind making her freeze a bit and slowing her down. Moth now hovered lower to the ground. She felt sluggish now. "Alright. Bird, use Leer and Peck on the Growlithe. Moth, use String Shot and But Bite on her Seel." Adrian said. Her two Pokemon nodded and then rushed into battle.
Moth made her that her target was hers alone. She shot String Shot at the Seel's body in an attempt to wrap it up like a present. Then she dove in and tried biting the Water type. The But Bite was an annoying move, taking any berry that the Pokemon had and gaining its affect.
Bird went in second. She gave an intimidating glare at the Growlithe before diving in and trying to peck at its head. Moth and Bird were a great combo. The two worked together perfectly and were the perfect combo of Pokemon.

Seel and Growlithe were her two trump pokemon, though Growlithe, as under leveled as he was, was probably her most valuable pokemon. Rebecca sighed loudly, her mind was racing at a million miles an hour with no stop, she was getting a bigger headache than before which was the last thing she wanted. “Calm down, this will be alright. Won’t it? Deep breathes, relax, focus.” Natu and Dustox took no chances at all, they both went straight at Ruby’s pokemon hard and fast. Dustox started first with a string shot attack, followed with bug bite. Damnit, her Seel was not in a good position now that his speed was lowered. Luckily he didn’t have a berry on him that Bug Bite could take from him, it could have been worse. Natu gave Blaze a very threatening glare as well before pecking at him like an angry bird.
“Maybe both pokemon should switch places, that may be a better idea.” Rebecca watch Adrians pokemon for a moment, thinking about the type match ups. Maybe it would be a better idea for Seel to go up against Natu instead. “Blaze, use Ember on Dustox! Seel, use Growl then switch to Natu and use Icy Wind!” Blaze spun around quickly and was the first one to attack. Her rushed forward a bit to get away from Bird then unleashed his flurry of fiery red flames at Moth. Seel did his best to move to the side a little to get a look at bird before he let out his growl, then let out a cold wind at Bird soon after.
If everything went well, Dustox would be hurt severely by the nasty fire move, and Natu would be cooled down from the ice moves. But type set ups were only half the battle, Rebecca knew that there was much more than that and that’s what frightened her about Adrian. She was sure she had more than just strong moves and flashy attacks.

Adrian's team looked as if it was taking a beating due to the type disadvantage that this foe was using against her. Still, she had her team trained rather well despite her typical losses at the gym. This girl hadn't grinded like the others, so she felt as if she had more of a chance to defeat her. Then again, even if Rebecca lost, there was always another time when she could be challenged. It would have to be after that conference though, since she supposed it would take an awful lot of time out of her schedule. The gym would even have to be closed; what a pity!
"Hang in there." She encouraged the two Pokemon as they were hit with an Ember and Icy Wind, and she could just see them cringe and flinch from the damage. They sure didn't like dealing with those kinds of attacks, but they could hang in there. At least she thought they could. Bird had a little frost covering her body, lowering her speed as she shivered to try and regain some warmth. Moth just looked a little singed, but she put out the flames before she could be burned by flapping her wings quickly.
"Night Shade and Tackle!" She ordered with a smirk, staring hard at her competitor. Rebecca was starting to look frustrated with this battle, which was good for her at the very least. The Natu cooed as she fired a ghostly aura at the ice type while the Dustox charged straight ahead at the Growlithe.

This was exactly what she was afraid of, but it was silly of her to expect a gym leader to be just like a regular trainer, she had walked herself right into a loss it seemed. Forget that, she wasn’t giving up until the end, not until she couldn’t do anything more than walk out of the gym. “Blaze, try to dodge that tackle attack!” Rebecca cried out, but there was only so much a pokemon could do in battle. Blaze was hit by Dustox’s body, knocking him off his feet quite easily. Rebecca’s favorite pokemon and most reliable one was being beaten without a problem. Seel was just as unfortunate, but he was hurt nearly as bad as Blaze at the moment. He was hit by a black aura that Bird had sent after him, it crawled on the floor until there was only inches separating Seel from the ominous shadow. Finally, it jumped up, Seel from the side of the head quite roughly
“Maybe I can burn Dustox with ember. With any luck that could change this battle in my favor. But then again, this could easily turn into a two on one fight… Better than nothing. Blaze, use ember on Dustox again. Seel, use Icy Wind on the Natu!” Rebecca could see Adrians smug grin when she looked up. She was obviously happy that she was winning this, or maybe it was because she was happy to see her frustrated like this. That bitch, what was she laughing at her for? She should just walk over there and just slap that smile off her face, the nerve of that woman. “Come on guys, we’re not loosing to a trainer like her, are we? Let’s show her!”
Well, that would be nice, anyway. Two pokemon both the same level as her Seel, and an under leveled Growlithe was probably not considered a winning team. As much as Rebecca wanted to win and teach that Adrian woman a thing or two, it would be a little less threatening if she were to loose in front of her. Ruby didn’t like this one bit, she came here to win, not to loose and go back to train again. Maybe that would be for the best though, but it would leave a bitter feeling in her heart none the less.

Adrian had to think of something quick or else her pokemon would not be able to take anymore attacks and would seriously fall in the battle if she didn't do something about it. One good thing was that fire usually need oxygen to continue so she had a plan against that. "Moth use Gust on the Ember!" She said and quickly Moth sent a gust of wind at the small fire that came her way. The wind took the fire and in a swift motion quickly extinguished the heat which left the Dustox safe for at least one more turn. This made both breathe a sigh of relief as that fire attack was not something to joke about... But her partner wasn't doing so hot as she was unable to dodge the Icy Wind that came her way, especially since she was already slower than normal. The attack hit her hard and chilled her wings and her heart. Luckily, Adrian stopped it before it got too bad by having her use a move that would have made sense from the beginning but she was too focused on Moth to use it then. "Teleport and then Peck on the Seel!" She said which was good. Bird teleported away from the rest of the icy wind attack and quickly landed on top of Seel in an attempt to peck at it. Not bad, she wouldn’t have expected that at all, especially with the stressful situation they both were having. That teleport move that Bird knew was especially annoying as well, giving him the ability to get out of an attack at any time she wanted. That didn’t matter though, Seel still had Icy Wind, giving him the upper hand in the fight. Luckily, Dustox couldn’t attack after that gust attack to kill off Blazes ember attack and Adrian couldn’t just keep doing that if she wanted to take out her Growlithe. Maybe that fully evolved pokemon wasn’t so scary after all!
Growlithe was impressed by the Dustox powers too. Despite his set back of being underpowered, he was able to come to see how good this pokemon was in battle. He nodded his head in a respectful manner. He was always the kind of pokemon to acknowledge others, he was a very polite and noble pokemon like a guard dog almost. <You are very good. You have been trained well, you are a very good pokemon.> Blaze was still panting lightly, but he was hoping for a favorable reply from the pokemon, even if it was only a nod. Seel on the other hand, just stood where he was, flapping his fins at the Natu that continued to pester him. He and Growlithe were a lot in the same personality wise, Seel was a lot more laid back though, sluggish or lost in thought a lot. In a way, they were Rebecca’s best pair together, they always seemed to get along and remain happy.
“Blaze, do what you do best! Ember on Dustox! Seel, you do the same!” Growlithe opened his mouth again, releasing the fiery pellets at Dustox. Whatever the case, the type match-up was in Blaze’s favor, giving him a serious advantage. Seel did the same, opening his mouth to let out a super cold wind that could freeze a pokemon in its tracks.

<Haha, I can say the same for you. So glad I'm not fighting any rocks this time.> The Dustox chirped at the Growlithe's compliment, regrouping with Bird after making their attacks. The Natu had weakness in her eyes as the Icy Wind kept adding frost onto her body, and even Moth could tell that her battle partner wasn't looking too good. The Seel wasn't a good foe for her to take on, especially with those strong attacks. Adrian of course noticed this and decided to switch the opponents they were attacking. That Intimidate from the Growlithe did harm their physical strikes, but it didn't weaken Poison Sting's potency.
The Natu was blasted with another Icy Wind and it didn't look like she could take too much more of this; with a pant and tired raise of her head, she signaled with a flap of her wings that she could still do this. Moth was only tiring herself out from the extra Ember, but luckily due to her Shield Dust ability she couldn't be burned. "Leading up to a grand finale." The Gym Leader said to herself, watching in amusement as she felt a bit cornered by her opponent.
"Night Shade on the Growlithe! Moth, fire some Poison Stings at the Seel." Yeah she normally didn't have luck on her side, but they could at least give it a shot. Natu's eyes changed color once more as she fired off a Night Shade at the Growlithe. Moth cackled as she started to fly around wildly, spraying poisonous stingers at the water type at the same time.

Though, had he not been a fire type, he would probably be that ‘rock’ that she was mentioning. Soon after, Dustox flew back to Natu to regroup. Seel was a great pokemon, and a good friend to Blaze and he expected nothing less that a good beating on that Natu from him. <Good work, Seel. You never let Rebecca or I down. Seel laughed with a wide smile on his face. Blaze was a good guy, but it seemed like he was giving him too much credit. <Well I’m glad I’m doing a good job, but you aren’t doing too bad yourself. Don’t give all the credit to me now.> Both pokemon were finding a way to keep their spirits up in the middle of a battle, they were such a funny pair to watch. Rebecca on the other hand, was not laughing as much. She watched Moth and Bird as they regrouped, something was up, Adrian was planning something.
Adrian called out her commands, and both her pokemon, and Ruby’s pokemon resumed the battle. Natu was first to go, using Nightshade on Growlithe. The shadow extended towards him, finally lunging at him to inflict serious damage. Blaze panted heavily after the attack, showing his weakening state. Seel was the next to be attacked, being shot by poisonous bards as Moth circled around him. A good way to make an attack, not only inflicting damage all around Seel, but making herself a hard target to attack as well. Thankfully, Seel was not poisoned, but his body may not be able to remain healthy from poison from another poison sting attack.
Rebecca didn’t hesitate to attack as soon as possible, she extended her hand as if she was reaching to her pokemon. Blaze, use Bite on Natu! Seel, cool off that Dustox with an icy wind!” If her Seel became poisoned, that would be an even worse position for her all together than she was already in. Crap, why did it have to know such an annoying move? She just prayed that her Seel would not get poisoned from Dustox, but not everything could work in her favor.

The bite from the Growlithe was a bit much for the poor Natu, and in her weakening condition she fainted as son as she was chomped on. Adrian winced as she saw her Natu go down, but she thought that Moth still had a chance. The plan was to take down the Growlithe with one simple move, possibly poison the Seel, then see which of the two could make it through. Good enough plan, right? It was the only one she had at the moment, so she was going to try to make it work. First thing though, she had to recall Bird back into her Pokeball. "Good job, Bird." She said, not mad at Bird at all for going down to those attacks. It was just a bad match up, that's all.
<I'm...allll byyyy myyyselllfff! Don't wanna be...alll byyy myyyseeeelllf.> Moth started to sing as Bird went down, a bit worried about carrying the rest of the battle on her back. This wasn't going to be an easy one for the Dustox, but she thought she could handle it. She nodded at her trainer, signaling that she was at least going to try. For the sake of the Gym's reputation, that is.
"Gust on that Growlithe, it looks weak enough." She commanded, and at once Moth went into action. She fired off the special attack at the fire type, not fully realizing it, but getting a sense that it was somehow not blocked by the Intimidate ability. Which was cool! At least for them, it was.

Moth used one last gust attack before Rebecca could give a command to Blaze to attack. The powerful winds blew her Growlithe back, taking him out of the battle this time. The poor thing, it did well though against such good opponents. ”Growlithe, return.” Rebecca held out her pups pokeball, extracting him from the battlefield by a red laser. Well, it was exactly like a scene out of a movie. Both trainers were on their last pokemon, fighting tooth and nail to win. However, Seel’s Icy Wind attack seemed to be her ticket to her winning this thing. ”Adrian, ready for a one on one battle?” Rebecca said quite calmly, either tired of the leader, or confident in her Seel.
Let’s bring down the curtain to this fight. Seel, Icy Wind on Dustox, and Growl too just so we can be safe.” The water/ice type let out a cute looking growl to decrease the opponents attack strength. Next was a super cold breath attack that could chill most pokemon to the bone. Moth didn’t have to worry about loosing her speed though, with that nifty ability she had. Regardless, Seel had the type advantage of ice over bug and flying.

But this didn't deter the pokemon at all even after it hit, instead she just continued singing and enjoying herself. >But you are also ALL BY YOURSELF!< She said, acknowledging the fact that the Growlithe went down. "Yes, lets finish this one on one!" Adrian said. She looked over at her Dustox and looked a bit concerned as the attacks started to add up and she began to look much weaker than she was originally. She could tell that Moth only had enough for one or maybe two attacks so the situation wasn't good at all. And she was running on a tight shift herself also as she had to make the conference soon. With that, she decided to go all out and finish it here and then. "Moth! Bug Bite!" She said. It made the Dustox a target in case she missed, but if she hit it would do a lot of damage also. Dustox was not a flying type, and ice didn’t have a type advantage over bug or poison for that matter. In retrospect, Ruby was using weak moves against the opponents pokemon. Well, she would just have to fix that and Seels headbut was just the solution to that. Adrian called her next attack to Moth, a physical type move. Well using growl was a good idea then, given that Bug bite wouldn’t do nearly as much as it would have previously. ”Seel, try and dodge.” Thankfully, Seel managed to flop over to the side and roll out of the way of the attack but just a few inches. Though Bug Bite may not do as much damage as before, taking no damage was certainly better and Ruby was quite stingy on taking no damage.
”Good job Seel. Let’s use Headbut this time, hit Moth with an even stronger attack.” Just then, Seel bounced his way over to Moth, until finally lunging over to his it with his head and stubby horn on top. A much stronger attack than Icy Wind, given the fact that it wasn’t super effective which did make Ruby feel not only let down, but stupid at the same time.

Adrian sighed and shook her head. Moth couldn't take much more, but she knew that the Dustox would resent her if she didn't push her to her limits. She was an enigma like that.
"Alright, Moth, use Gust!" yelled Adrian, and the Dustox complied, buffering her wings into a flurry, generating a powerful wind to blow the Seel back.
Though really, at this stage, thought Adrian with a mental sigh, the attack was more to get some distance between the healthy Seel and the weakening Moth, rather than to incapacitate the aggressive water type.

Both trainers pokemon were weakening, but thankfully Seel managed to dodge on attack just moments ago, giving Ruby a bit of an advantage. Though not much, it was still something. Both pokemon were panting, obviously getting worn out from their long and dragged out battle. Moth used another gust attack on Seel, unfortunately for Seel, Growl didn’t affect a move like that, therefore taking the full force of the flying type move. Seel rolled back a ways until he finally was stopped by the wall. Poor pokemon, he was being tossed around the stadium. Literally.
Let’s make this count. Again, use headbut and bring that Dustoc back down to earth! One again, the Seel flopped forward until he was close enough, then lunged forward at the bug pokemon with his head and stubby horn to bash his head into the bug pokemon. With any luck, this headbut attack would win this thing for her.

weak hit by headbutt used harden and poison sting (att: -1) (def: +1)
It was easy to see that the battle was winding down. Adrian was down to her last pokemon, and so was her opponent. It was a weakened dustox against a weakening seel. How had things turned around to Adrian's disadvantage? It was a strange occurrence, but she could not dwell on it right now. The headbutt had hit the dustox head on, and Moth had contemplated throwing in the towel now. "Don't give up!" Adrian encouraged. She had a task at hand. "Moth, harden. We can't lose, we'll be the laughing stock at our conference," She insisted. The dustox nodded, breathing in deeply and hardening its exterior. With another deep breath, this moth pokemon shot out a needle of poison at the seel. Why did she not think of this earlier? A status condition could be the deciding factor here, even if there was a slim chance of that blubbering seel getting infected with poison. Oh well, it was worth a shot. [/blockquote]
