[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=background,http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8538/raffbg2copy.png,true]After weeks of the oh so wild wilderness of Route 1, Raff was extremely pleased to finally be back in civilization. Some place where he could find an actual bed to sleep on rather than the ground. He was also glad that the poke'center was not far off. With all of his companions in their poke'balls he wandered aimlessly down the streets of the city. There was no way he was ready to challenge the first leader. In fact, he didn't even know if he wanted to go for the contest leader... or the gym leader... or both? With a multitude of decisions before him he took the easiest way out and just wandered down a secluded side street of the Eletric City.

Pokemon encounter ! An Electrike padded down the side of the road of Ile Electrique, looking rather morose and cold. It was a nice day, but to the wandering mutt, every day of his life was chilly. Other Pokémon avoided him, as if sensing his lack of visible emotions. Truth was, he was born mute, and try as he might he could not muster a bark to share his feelings anyway. Now matured, he accepted life as an outcast.
He paused, noticing Raff nearby, and stared for a few seconds, as if sensing something from the trainer. Then, saying nothing, he calmly made to walk right past him - that is, if he wasn't interfered with.

[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=background,http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8538/raffbg2copy.png,true]"Well you're something new." Raff commented to himself, watching as the calm creature crossed his path. It wasn't a native to route 1, and inwardly Raff was clapping like a little girl. "It's a good thing you aren't a black cat, crossing my path like that." By this point it was rather obvious that Raff was trying to interact with the poke'mon. He knelt down on the ground, holding out the back side of his hand towards Electrike for him to sniff if he so desired.

The Electrike looked at the trainer with big eyes. He could not make any noise and did not show much emotion, but he sniffed the trainers hand and could smell a emotion he had not felt in a long time, kindness. Never have he before felt such emotion, or he might have but it had been so long that he could not even remember anymore. It was odd, but not unwelcome at all. He did not know how too show this emotion back so he placed his paw towards the hand and hit it lightly as if he tried to do a handshake. It was not weird for him too see other humans doing it, so he might as well try it too. ::Electrike:: Sees you and gives you a pawshake.

[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=background,http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8538/raffbg2copy.png,true]Raff laughed softly as the green poke'mon shook hands with him. Friendly, and had some manners. He was surprised at this only for a moment, and then he remembered that unlike humans, not all poke'mon had bred out their manners and old fashioned kindness. Raff shifted from his knees to sitting on his butt on the ground. His legs bent up in front of him and his arms resting on his knees. "Well friend, I have a favor to ask of you actually. I've got a Magnemite with some awesome power, but he's not too good at aiming his thundershocks. Think you could help us out?" Braden the Magnemite was fine, but Raff wanted to hang out with this wild poke'mon.

Again, the electrike was still as he was given a request. It was odd to be interacting with people who had shown him kindness, but nevertheless it was something that is not bad at all. Rather, it was something tantalizing to him. Something about this trainer seemed to cause the electrike to be allured to him. Was it the kindness that he was shown for the first in a long time? Maybe it was the repressed sadness that was built up when he was stop given such feeling.
The electrike looked at the trainer and nodded, for he had no reason to deny anyone a favor. Perhaps it was an instinctive thing that he wanted to battle, but it was something.

[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=background,http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8538/raffbg2copy.png,true]Raff smiled and then slowly stood up so as not to startled the Electrike. He fished around in his pocket for the Magnemite's poke'ball. As he pulled it out of his pocket he pushed the button and enlarged it before gently tossing it into the air. Braden the Magnemite appeared and whirled once around Raff before being drawn to the electricity of the electric type poke'mon. Braden began to circle Electrike while Raff spoke to his poke'mon. "I've found someone to help you improve your thundershocks Braden." The Magnemite paused, and seemed confused. He wasn't aware that there was anything wrong with his attack. But being an intellectual and valuing knowledge, he was still eager to learn. He turned his one eye to the Electrike and attempted to shoot a thundershock from one of his magnets. The wide-spread attack hit a nearby light post like a shot gun blast and blew out the lightbulb. Raff's face went a bit red, hoping that he didn't draw too much unwanted attention to himself.

Pokemon battle ! Other than an unfortunate pidgey, the clumsy shock didn't cause damage to much else. The bulb would be easily replaced, after all; they were broken pretty much every other day anyway.
The electric dog breathed in anticipation. Usually he had to fight viciously for food and territory, but now he could enjoy a good, old fashioned wrestle with these new acquaintances. Intensity showed in his eyes as he stared at his opponent - a rookie Magnemite, it seemed. It was obvious from his bad aim that he needed better coordination, and that only came with practice. Well, he could help with that.
He aimed an intense leer towards the Magnemite, then rushed at him, jumping toward his metallic body in a tackle.

[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=background,http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8538/raffbg2copy.png,true]Alright. Game on. Raff smiled because for once a battle was actually fun for him. He didn't feel the need to win or prove anything. There was no anger in his veins, just the joy of the battle. He could hear the crackles of the electricity from the light bulb that had been blown out, or maybe it was from the pair of electric types fighting on the field? Braden was knocked silly from the tackle, his one eye spinning around and around inside of his head. Raff chuckled. "Braden, start practicing aiming your Thundershocks. Go all out." Raff wasn't terribly worried, knowing from his poke'dex that Electrikes had a Lightning Rod ability. Aiming, even in Braden's discombobulated state, would be easy and he didn't need to worry about hurting the Electrike either. It would be the perfect way for Braden to get some practice in... and to build trust with the Electrike. Braden whirled his magnets around, a small electrical force generating on either end of his polar body. They both shot off of the Magnemite and combined in front of his eye before naturally seeking out the Electrike. Braden's eye was narrow and his focus entirely on his shot.

The Electrike's eyes narrowed with excitement as he felt the electricity build up in the air due to the Magnemite's powers. He wanted to jump in the way of the blast, just to feel the static curl up around his body so he could bat at the little sparks with pleasure. He wanted to make it a little difficult for the Magnemite to hit him, but he figured that just this once he'd stay still to see if it would strike.
Of course, his tall lightningrod of a mane drew in the attack regardless of its aim. Probably making the Electrike a poor opponent to test accuracy of the attack, but the power was good. He grinned as he felt the energy surge through his body, having expected just this kind of feeling.
The electric mutt trotted around the Magnemite, circling its form with curiosity. Would he be able to be hit when he was moving a little faster? Could the Magnemite even focus an attack under pressure? It was time to find out! The Electrike wordlessly pounced upon the Magnemite, eager to use a Tackle attack.

[atrb=border,0,true] [atrb=background,http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/8538/raffbg2copy.png,true]The Magnemite had a moment of panic when he suddenly saw their new friend leaping towards him in another tackle attack. Raff laughed as he saw the shock on Braden's face. It must have been what the antelope looked like on nature shows when they realized a lion was after them. In absence of a command coming from Raff, Braden did the most natural thing possible, he fired off an attack. But rather than another thundershock, this time it was a blast of light from his metallic body, the steel-type attack flash cannon. Braden released his attack just as the Electrike collided with his body and forced him down to the ground where he would be pinned to the ground if the Electrike decided to stay there on top of him. His magnets whirled around helplessly. <Sorry. bzzt. Attack did not register as thundershock. bzzt.> Raff's mouth was hanging slightly open as he saw the flash cannon launch.

The Electrike was a fiery mysterious sort of individual; the electric type had a very omniscient presence about him. However, the fire that he had in his eyes was magic and brought out a side of the canine pokemon that no other activity had. One quick movement, the flash cannon had hit square on the Electrike’s chest. He howled as it hit, trying to just endure the pain that he just had felt. In retaliation the electric type sent out a very mean glare readying his attack in his head. Then the dog began to move; it was repetitive but none of the other moves that he had worked. He knew (from prior experience) of battling a Magnemite that his thunderwave didn’t do what he wanted it to do, instead it just bounced off and was a useless move in this battle. He hadn’t had a trainer before but he at least knew that much. The Electrike began, he leered at the steel type wanting to lower its defense once more before it ran in and attempted a tackle attack on the trainer’s pokemon. ::Electrike:: Used Leer & Tackle (Special Attack +1) Level 11 Abilities: Lightningrod + Static Attacks: Leer, Tackle, Thunderwave Personality: Mute, mature, mysterious. But Raff just smiled and remained as silent as the mute Electrike. Braden, while he wasn't paying attention, was knocked around silly by the Electrike again and was tackled to the ground. Braden closed his eyes, building up another Thundershock at his magnets. He envisioned the path he wanted it to take and launched them. He sent them flying out to either side, and then they curved around to meet, aimed for the Electrike's backside. Braden's eye opened. <My aim... it has improved yes?> He questioned.

Pokemon encounter ! The Electrike backed up a little after the successful Tackle attack, eyes pinned on the Magnemite. Acute vision told him that the metallic foe had already launched his next attack in the form of two electric currents, and there was not enough time to dodge even if he wanted to. The well-aimed Thundershock zapped him once again, causing no pain to the electric hound.
He looked back at the Magnemite as he asked if his aim had improved, nodding silently. As if wondering whether the adversary wanted to continue, he hesitated, but then launched his canine body at the magnetic being in another Tackle. It was helping his body become a little stronger, too. ::electrike:: { Electrike } SP ATK +2 Level 11 Gender: Male Abilities: Lightningrod + Static Attacks: Leer, Tackle, Thunderwave Personality: Mute, mature, mysterious. Having just been attacked in the same way multiple ways before, Braden easily drifted to the side and dodged the tackle attack, turning around with a happy look in his eye at Raff. Raff smiled, lifting up a poke'ball he recalled Braden. The blond boy turned to the Electrike and knelt down again, offering out his hand to pet the green poke'mon. "That's enough. Thank you."

Pokemon encounter ! The Electrike was shocked for a moment after hitting nothing but thin air, but managed to regain his balance and land on four legs on the ground before he could crash. Turning around, he saw the unmistakable red flash of the Magnemite being recalled back into its pokeball. The human's hand reached down to pet him, and he didn't flinch at the touch. His intelligent, mature eyes merely fell upon the trainer's, nodding in response to his thanks. The hound was thankful too; the battle had given him more experience against hard surfaces, after all.

Without hesitation it seems as if Raff was going to ask the Electrike something. He really wanted to see if he could convince the electric type poke'mon to join his team, he knew the potential that the small green poke'mon had. But before he had a chance to form the question, the Electrike was distracted by something. And apparently Raff was invited to investigate as well. The elecktrike quietly made him was through the streets of Electric City. The noise he could hear was growing louder and louder. Right, left, forward, left, Right again, the elctric type was pinpointing the sound and leading the trainer directly to it.
After a few moments of running, the dog came to a dead end back street that housed the odd noise that had first drawn the electrike's attention.
A meowth and a pidove were squabbling over a deliscious looking turkey. Where it had come from was a mystery however, the electrike could see that the two were not only exchanging words, but also physical blows.

Instinctively Raff's hand grasped one of his poke'balls, but something inside of him slowed him down. He humbly turned to the wild Electrike. "I can help you stop them, if you want... I think we'd work well as a team." Hint hint, dropping subtle hints that Raff wanted to take the Electrike along with him. Raff took up one of his poke'balls in his hand, prepared to toss it if for some reason the stoic poke'mon wanted to fight these two. "Or we can move on... I don't think they've noticed us yet."

Electrike blinked and looked at the Pokéball that Raff held out, and tilted his head, noticing the subtle hints about joining his team. Well, the idea did sound nice. Truthfully, since Electrike had a hard time communicating with others, it would be nice to have someone around to talk to. The Electric dog sat down, watching the Meowth and the Pidove exchange blows with each other, and then pawed at Raff’s leg.
Swiping at the air with his paw, he indicated that if Raff helped him to split up the two fighting Pokémon and help them to share the food, he’d join. He wanted to make the most of his freedom while it lasted.
