s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Costume & Mask
Sierra entered the ballroom and was awed at the sight of all the beautiful dresses, suits and masks along with the forms of couples dancing. It was like a dream to the young girl, who had danced only a couple times in her life. The men of Cheyenne, she found, were often more handsome than in her home region.
This would be fun.
Feeling her mask to make sure it was in place, the young teen situated herself at a lone table and sat there like a little flower, watching the swirling dresses of dancing ladies. A sigh escaped her glossed lips, wishing she could experience such a magical moment.

Outfit
Felicity had walked into the ballroom, with a cup of alcohol held tightly in her hands as she tried to move past the people without spilling it. She was, after all, a bit drunk. Felicity found the tables, placing her hands on it to balance herself and not fall over. Looking around her she spot a few other people and one girl sitting by herself.
Flinging herself in the seat next to the girl, Felicity smiled. "I love your dress, it's so pretty," she took a sip from the cup, "so pretty. I wish I would of thought of something like that." She nodded to herself, finally setting the cup on the table and pushing it away. Felicity reached to fix her crown, twisting it left and right and trying to guess when the orange jewel was centered. Then she fixed her mask.
Suddenly she pointed to her cup, "D..don't drink that. I did a bad thing and drank a lot of it." Of course she did want some more but, she tried her best not to reach and grab it. That drink made her feel like she was loosing her marbles. "Um, anyway, do I look OK?" Smiling Felicity ran her fingers through her white hair, she really hoped she looked alright.

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra was a tad startled to hear the sound of someone sitting down next to her. "Oh! Why, thank you!" She replied, enchanted to be so close to one of the pretty girls in the ball. She took a good look at the girl's outfit, smiling. It was sparkly and colorful, but classy at the same time. "I love your dress," She replied both to her compliment and her question of how she looked.
She laughed at her warning not to drink too much. "I could use a drink right now, actually. I need to let loose." She remarked, standing up from her chair. "Want to come with me?" The young girl smiled mischievously at her new acquaintance. She'd only have a little bit to drink!... It wouldn't be like the halloween party incident a few months back... maybe.

Felicity stopped petting her hair and nodded, "Oh yeah, Ill go with you." Slowly she got up and smoothed out her dress, she tried to keep herself balanced which thankfully was possible with her nice flat boots. Now if she had heels, that would be a different story.
Felicity tried to think of something to talk about, this was a masquerade and she could pretend to be anything she wanted and yet she still wanted to be herself. "Y..you can call me Fel." She smiled, at least she didn't give away her full name, so it kept her slightly unknown to this girl.
Finally the bar was in sight and she moved around the people as best she could, looking to make sure the other girl was following her. "Here we are," She almost cooed, throwing out her arms and spinning in a small circle. "Uh, This is where you wanted to... to go right?" NOTES;; sorry if the post sucks, i suddenly lost my muse

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra was glad that the girl decided to go with her. How fortunate that so early on, she'd made an acquaintance she could get drunk with she could talk to on this fine night.
It was surprising when Fel introduced herself. Sierra had assumed that you were undercover for the whole night, and she didn't feel that she was ready to give out her name quite yet. She was thrilled that Fel had given her a name, though. "Nice to meet you." She grinned. "You can call me... Cherry?" It was the first name she thought of on the spot.
They made it to the bar, the sight of which seemed to make Fal rather excited. Sierra's grin became large. "Yes! I can smell the drinks from here.." She inhaled while saying this, feeling the scents of alcohol enter her lungs. For some reason, despite her huge addiction to sugar, she'd acquired a bit of a taste for the stuff. "A strawberry marguerita, please," She ordered. Her drink was shaken and passed to her, and her gloved fingers curled around the neck of the glass as she raised it to her lips.
Upon drinking a bit, she breathed out. "Phew! That's strong." Her head seemed to have an immediate reaction to the stuff. Setting the glass back down, she turned towards Fel with a grin. "So, danced with any guys yet?" She hoped one would intrude on them, actually. Dancing before she was drunk was probably favorable.

Felicity gave a small nod as she finally got a name to call Cherry and for some reason the sound of that name made her stomach growl. She leaned on the bar, watching the bartender make Cherry's drink and then Felicity's mouth formed a small O. "That looks good," She marveled at it, "I want one too." Felicity gave a small smile to the bartender. Clearly she had already forgotten that she said she drank to much.
When she got her drink Felicity held it close to her lips, looking at Cherry when she was asked a question. "Not yet but, I wish." She swung the drunk away from her, seeming clueless as some of it splashed onto the floor. "How about you?" Finally she took a sip, a short sip, before setting it down.
Felicity ran her fingers through her hair, "I don't know why anyone would want to dance.. w..with me," She gave a soft laugh, "I mean.. look at my hair! I look like an old lady!" Her laugh grew a little louder and Felicity picked up her drink and sipped it, as an attempt to stop. Not even that worked.

Mask - DressGertrude had just been poking along, a small glass of punch in one hand, and an ear open for interesting tidbits on conversation. It'd been ages since she'd been at a shindig even half so glamorous, and never to a masquerade! Her small steps seemed nearly dainty with how it made her long kimono drag on the floor and her mask hide the tell-tale lines of aging. She felt positively 40 again! "I mean.. look at my hair! I look like an old lady!"She swung her head rather slowly towards the bar where two young girls sat. One had pretty mismatched eyes hidden behind her mask, but goodness! She was wearing a hooker's outfit! And though the other one's outfit didn't show as much skin, with the way she was sloshing her drink on the floor...it was obvious to Gertrude that she was positively blitzed with it! Motherly instinct took over then and she made her way to the two girls. "This is quite the bash, eh, girls," she said conversationally before turning towards the bartender. "A Shirley Temple, hot stuff."

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra smiled as she took another sip of the drink. "I know. I've never drunk one before." She'd heard the word 'Marguerita' spoken before and learned it was a type of drink, and of course strawberries had to be one of its flavors. Strawberries fit in any drink.
The strange girl splashed a little bit of the drink out of her cup, fortunately not allowing any of it to spill onto Sierra's dress. She paid no mind to it. "No, not yet," She replied wistfully. "But it's still early. I'm sure someone handsome will come along.." She blushed a bit, raising a few delicate fingers to her lips in a silly grin.
The girl remarked that her hair was that of an old ladies, and utter shock came to Sierra's face. She'd thought Fel's hair and eyes were the most gorgeous things on her, forget the dress and mask. "No way! I love your hair! It looks so soft and -" She was stopped short as an old woman came over and remarked, quite the bash, eh girls? Sierra was enthralled with the woman's choice of mask and dress. They looked positively antique and beautiful. "Definitely!" Agreed Sierra, ignoring the slight lowness of the woman's voice. As she called the waiter hot stuff, she turned to look at the man she was addressing to see if he actually was. Well, he was okay, but not as good looking as many of the guys dancing.
Sierra turned the spinny stool around to look around at the dancing figures, a wistful sigh escaping her lips. "I'd like to dance with one of them.." She murmured, raising the glass once more to her mouth and taking a larger sip. She swung her legs a bit, as if she were a child on a swingset.

Finally Felicity was able to stop laughing, she sipped her drink and watched a women in an elegant outfit join them. "Yes, totally." She set her cup down and spun back and forth in her chair, then turning to admire the dancers and glancing over at Cherry who seemed to be doing the same thing.
Felicity watched the blurs of people spinning around and others who stood and talked. What a party. Then she turned to the women, "Have you danced yet?" Her eyes sparkled, she really loved the women's outfit. It was so wonderful, clearly if anyone had danced it was this women.
Felicity scooped up her cup, sipping slowly, finishing the drink off with a sigh.

Her normally cacophonous laughter was thankfully muted by the mask. These children didn't know her age! If they did, they surely would know she was probably the last person here anyone would pick to dance. She didn't mind, really, being a wall flower came with age.
She gestured to her cane with a sigh. "'Fraid I'm not much for dancing, girls." She figured they'd probably think she had a disability hidden beneath the layers of her kimono and they would be right to an extent.
"I would be careful not to get too tipsy, though. Many girls your age have regrets involving parties and alcohol, after all." She gave a sagely nod before taking a sip of her non-alcoholic beverage. Perfectly refreshing!

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra gave a sigh of longing as the woman denied that she'd danced. "That's too bad." She replied, tilting the glass once more towards her lips. The sweet, sugary nectar seemed to cure her sadness a bit. Giving a laugh, she said jokingly, "At least we all have something in common." Her legs swung a bit higher as she said so, and a small tint of pink covered her cheeks as she laughed.
The kimono woman gave them a warning, which Sierra probably didn't absorb as much as she wanted. It was kind of her to care about them, though. Her legs stopped swinging as she turned towards the woman and bent her head a bit. "Thank you for the advice." Oddly, she felt as if she were being lectured, but she didn't bother to judge how old the woman was. The point of masquerades was to hide your identity, after all.
"I might just dance by myself if no one comes along." Remarked Sierra, raising the glass to her lips for another small, sweet sip. ".. there must be a shortage of guys in Cheyenne, I suppose." She laughed once more, but a hiccup broke through and interrupted her. She held her breath to get rid of it.

It was a shame the women didn't like to dance, Felicity was almost sure that if she wanted that women could dance with someone. She turned in her chair slightly as Cherry spoke and then looked down at her empty cup, giving it a small push so the bartender could notice and take care of it.
"Oh, alright. Not to tipsy... g..got it." Felicity smiled giving a small thumbs up to show she understood, even if she was a bit tipsy already. She patted down her dress again, wanting to make sure she didn't spill anything on herself. Still she hadn't noticed what she spilled on the floor.
Her attention turned to Cherry as she spoke, and it made Felicity laugh slightly. "Well, Ill be happy to dance with you," She smiled, "I think I might be good at dancing... never... t..tried." At least she never tried dancing in public. NOTE;; <3

Oh. Oh my. Such sweet, darling girls. She hadn't known they were a couple. Why, they must have just started dating, since they weren't hanging all over each other. Her face began to grow hot under the mask with embarrassment. Gertrude didn't consider herself homophobic or anything but the concept was just to unusual to her. It wasn't like she knew any growing up and none of her bingo friends were gay. Or was the proper term lesbian? She didn't want to offend!
She had clearly forgotten what Sierra had said only moments ago about there being a shortage of men in Cheyenne. Being old did that to you.
"But which one of you is the man? I mean for the dance?" She blurted out before she realized what she'd said. So much for offending her new friends.

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra turned towards Fel as she made the offer, eyes shining with interest. She actually wanted to dance with her? Another girl? They'd look like a couple of weirdos, but the idea still appealed to her. Poor Fel - it was probably the alcohol talking. But she already loved her. In a friendly way, of course.
But it seemed Gertrude didn't recognize such a relationship between them. Suddenly the old woman spoke up, startling the jumpy Sierra just slightly. Wait, what!? Which one was the man?! Sierra's face grew red and hot as she realized just what Gertrude was asking her. "Huh? No, you've got it a bit wrong.." Replied Sierra, eyes wide with embarrassment. She did hang out with a lot of girls.. but she didn't swing that way!
After tilting the last of the drink into her open lips, which was more than a big gulp, Sierra set the empty glass back down on the table. A feeling of tipsiness entered her mind, her cheeks tinted a bit pink from the small amount of alcohol she'd drank. Turning towards Fel, she remarked, "Well, what are you waiting for then? Let's dance!" Sierra aimed a glance that said 'i'm not gay, i'm just doing this for fun' - or at least she hoped it conveyed that message - then grabbed Fel's arm and led her to the dance floor.
But she was more confused than she thought, apparently. Sierra turned towards Fel, adjusting her arms a few times before giving up. "I've never danced either.." Sierra confessed, tilting her head in shame. Fail. Just fail.

Felicity's cheeks grew warm under her mask as the women spoke and she could not hold back the giggles but, she did try to hide them. It was hard to believe the women could think that way and Cherry seemed just as shocked, but didn't seem to find it as funny. "Yeah," She said after Cherry, "It's not like that." Felicity wished she had more of her drink left to try to hold back more laughter.
Then she was pulled from her seat, splashing in the small puddle she made earlier but, she seemed oblivious to that. "A...alright." Felicity didn't think Cherry would want to dance after what the women said and yet thats what they were going to do. She stood silent as Cherry tried to position her hands right and once Cherry admitted to not knowing how to dance, Felicity let out a small sigh. Her eyes moving around the room.
Everyone was doing it differently, some people stood close well others kept space between them and seemed stiff as they spun around. "Ok, let's try to, uh, figure this out." Quickly she took Cherry's hands, holding one in the air and placing one just below her shoulder. "Does.. this seem right?"

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra stood there, her face turned towards the dancing figures as she tried to figure out what to do, before she felt Fel take her hands. The girl's hand felt smooth and cool to the touch, the rich folds of the fabric soft to her other hand. She held that position, staring down at Fel for a few moments before letting out a laugh and a hiccup. "Sorry. It's just that you're the first girl I've ever danced with." She confessed, her cheeks pinking both from mirth and slight tipsiness.
Now that they had the hands down, Sierra feld confident that they could get this dancing thing right. She took the lead due to her taller height, stepping to the right, then pivoting just slightly as she continued the stepping motions. Soon they were dancing in a circling motion like the other dancers, albeit a bit slower and more awkwardly - not to mention that it was female to female. Sierra's head was turned just slightly, her eyes directed towards the ground in a shy way.

Well there went her two conversational partners. Hmph, how rude! Gertrude sulked for a moment at the bar before shrugging her shoulders. She wasn't going to spend all night sitting here, she was going to have fun!
It was still a bit awkward when the music switched to some song about apples wearing jeans and furry boots...and she decided to see just how low she could go.
Incidentally, she didn't go too far before toppling over and reaching out for the first thing she could, which happened to be a man's pants. His pants and boxers slid down, revealing his bottom to everyone, as Gertrude flopped on the floor, trapped in the layers of her kimono.

Felicity smiled as Cherry spoke, in a way it was an honor but she was not about to say so. The dance was awkward and Felicity tried to keep her gaze on the other dancers who moved faster and more graceful, wishing that she could dance like that but with Cherry leading it was clearly just going to stay awkward.
When the music changed Felicity looked around to see if the people around her had changed their dance, some had and yet most still spun in graceful circles. Her eyes watched the women they had just been talking to as she tried to dance and she stopped dancing as the women fell. "Cherry look!" She pointed to the women but, then her attention was pulled to the man without pants or boxers.
Felicity's cheeks grew a deep red as she stared at the man, it was a shocking sight. Then she giggled, placing her hand over her mouth so the man would not hear as he bent down to pull his boxers and pants up as quickly as possible, even if he stood frozen for a second for total shock. Its not every day you get your pants pulled down by a total stranger. "He looked like a fool with his pants on the ground," She giggled to Cherry.
NOTES;; Poor man, at least its a party he will remember for ever. lol and fail post is fail.

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra continued to dance with the unknown girl, continuing to step carefully and twirl with her. However, her sense of grace was clearly undeveloped, and they would've probably danced like that the entire night had not something happened at that very moment.
At Fel's outburst, Sierra turned to look quickly, and of course the first thing Sierra glimpsed was a man's bare bottom. Of course, one would not be at a dance without boxers and pants, which meant that someone had pantsed them. Looking down, she instantly recognized the flowing kimono of the old lady they'd just met. It wasn't so interesting, though, as the state of the man who had just been stripped, and Sierra could barely tear her eyes away from the scene.
A deep blush set in as well as she turned away, seeing that the man was now pulling his boxers and pants back up. Seeing Fel's beet-red face and hearing the lyrics to the obvious song, she giggled as well. "Good thing this is a masquerade, or he'd really be in trouble," She remarked. All the dancers had paused to see the spectacle, but were now dancing again, starting off slowly. "Should we keep dancing? I mean, it's fun, but you look a bit bored." Sierra observed.

After flopping around for a few moments, Gertrude was rescued by other kind dancers. The weight of her obi wouldn't let her right herself and she felt like a Squirtle stuck on its back. Her hips creaked and popped as she took a few unsteady steps. The man quickly rushed away to the washroom, clearly embarrassed beyond all belief, but Gertrude didn't feel bad. Nearly everyone ended up mortified beyond all belief in public and she had learned to just roll with it.
But perhaps she really should stay away from the dance floor. She was upset that her old body wouldn't keep up with her young spirit and her throat began to close as she fought back hot tears.
She went back to the bar and hauled herself onto a stool with some difficulty. "How about an Old Lady for the old lady?" The bartender nodded and began to gather the ingredients. One and a half ounces of London dry gin, three-fourths an ounce of creme de cassis, half an ounce of whiskey, and a bit of egg white. He shook it together in a cocktail shaker with ice and once it was chilled, strained it into a saucer glass. He gave Gertrude two cherries since she looked so down, and placed it in front of her.
