l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian noticed the insect doing something odd with the snow and was unable to refrain from smiling at the spectacle. From what she could infer, the insect was trying to sculpt a large pile of snow into something easier on the eyes, but she knew that most of the snow layering the ground was really mostly powdery and soft - not the building kind. She remained silent as the spider shouted and kicked her own creation, her speech confirming what Lillian already assumed. The morph walked over to the Joltik and lowered herself (painfully, due to her chest wounds) to her level, trying to seem friendly.
"Need help?" She asked tentatively, certain that she could offer her assistance - perhaps bringing more snow would do the trick, or she could use her more practical human hands to bend and form it at will. She wasn't that artistic, but she was probably better suited to the task than a spider.

Oh sorry about yelling... I just got startled!< The Joltik said before she looked at the remnant of her "creation" and then frowned a bit.
>You see, I was trying to create a snow Metapod but there doesn't seem to be enough snow here to do that. And the ones falling aren't sticking so I can't add more. What am I supposed to do?! What can I do?!< She asked, a bit desperate and disheartened. Interestingly though, if she tried hard enough and was diligent enough, she could probably make a snow caterpie with the amount...

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian was startled when the Joltik was startled. She hadn't realized that she scared her, and actually tried to keep her voice kind of on the low so that she wouldn't surprise him, but perhaps she made a mistake. "Sorry." She replied quickly before the insect realized that she was just there to help. She forced a smile at the insect when she apologized, not really having much to say on the matter.
Then she explained more in detail about what she was doing, and Lillian silently listened, staring at the failure mound of snow. She rubbed her chin, pondering about how she could solve this problem. The spider was just exaggerating when she said there wasn't enough snow; there was plenty, just spread out over a large distance. She vaguely remembered about snow crystals and how they refused to stick together if they were too cold and the mechanical energy wasn't enough to melt them so they could refreeze together. Simply holding the snow long enough for a few clumps to melt together was all they needed to do. "Here, just go like this." She explained briefly, picking up a snowball sized amount in her gloved hands and squeezing it for a moment. Then she displayed the round ball to her. "This can be the base." She said, sticking the ball on top of the small pile the spider already generated before picking up and packing more snow together, continuing to build the snow Metapod.

The Joltik found the girl's voice to be soft and sweet, friendly as she apologized. It was something that made the Joltik feel guilty about as she explained her problem to the girl, who quietly went out of her way to demonstrate the proper technique. However, it was more of a technique that humans could use instead of a spider like her. The Joltik looked at her own hands in confusion, as if she was debating being able to conquer the same feat. <It's a good base.> She muttered, still focusing on how she was supposed to do it herself after watching Lillian do it.
She attempted again with a smaller sized snowball, since the base had to be the largest or else the structure would collapse. She used her front two legs to scoop up the snow from around her, getting a very sloppy shape as she started to pat at it with her hands and arms. It was the best she could do, but the snowball would need another firm squeeze from Lillian's hands if it was going to stick naturally to the Metapod.
<Urrf, it's so hard.> The Joltik was already getting frustrated with herself, a bit impatient because she wasn't doing it right. She was still a step further than she was before, so she knew she should still be grateful anyways.

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian smiled at the Joltik when she complimented the round base, keeping an eye on the insect as she began to try and press a snowball of her own. Lillian got two more balls done before she noticed that the spider was sort of having trouble. It was sort of a sloppy mess from what she could tell. Her ears picked up the sound of the snowball not forming correctly, and that wasn't a good sound. Nope. She silently reached over as the arachnid complained how hard it was; her hands gently grasped the snow and gave it a final squeeze, forming it into a nice ball. "Good job!" She praised the spider, smiling at her as she stuck the balls on either side of the base and melded them together with her hands. "Keep going," She urged gently as she formed more balls and stuck them to the growing sculpture. From the way it was looking, it was probably going to be double the size of the Joltik - which wasn't very big at all, really.

The Joltik was mumbling to herself about how she wasn't suited for the job, why her friends could do it because they had hands, and other things that put herself down. She stopped when she felt her clump of snow get taken away by Lillian, but she was too surprised to even protest. All she did was watch as the girl finished the job for her, as if they were some kind of factory. Now that there were two balls on their snow Metapod, it was time for the third and final one. Already it was taller than the Joltik expected, and with the final piece it was bound to tower over the bug.
To the Joltik, the thought was excited. Maybe not so much to Lillian, but it already looked good to the Joltik. The little spider smoothed out the sides a little to try and give it more shape, and since her hands were so tiny, she was able to shave off the unneeded pieces that made the snow Metapod look like a snowman. Final snow ball, gogogo~! She got to work on it just like before, having the same issues as last time as she looked up at Lillian expectantly.
<Help?> She asked sweetly with those wide eyes of hers, excited to see the finished creation. It was great having someone play with her like this, though usually the kids in the neighborhood would do that anyways. They were busy for the holidays though, so they hadn't been able to see her for a while. It made her sib in her loneliness.

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian was pleased to see that the sculpture was taking shape, beginning to look like a general Metapod appearing out of the snow. She continued to pat down the snow and allow it to stick together as the spider rolled another ball to complete the sculpture. This time she actually asked for help, and the eagerness she heard in that sweet voice brought a charming smile to Lillian's features. She picked up the ball and gave it a firm squeeze, completing it before she stuck it on the tall end of the snow 'pod. She smoothed it out and brought the ends of the sculpture to nice, round points to finish it off. It looked more like a half moon than a metapod, but that was only because it didn't have a face.
"It needs eyes." She stated, observing the sculpture with quiet amusement and triumph. There were probably some stones around here that they could borrow and stick into it. Maybe if they had a magic tophat they could put it on its head and it could become Frosty the Snow-pod and come to life and chase innocent children.

The Joltik stepped back and tilted her head. It was beginning to look like a Pokemon now! Not just a big pile of snow, it took a form, a shape, something someone would know by just looking at it. She happily shook her head to the tune in her head. But there was still a problem, they had to have something for the eyes. She narrowed her eyes and stared at the snow Metapod, who was eyeless. It looked kinda creepy without eyes, to be honest. It was a big pile of snow...with no color. Thinking, the Joltilk suddenly got an idea. She whipped around to where her butt was facing it and she shot two Spider Webs at it. Small yet thick, they latched onto the face part of it...for eyes! <There!> She said happily, jumping back and admiring the view. It was a good Metapod made out of snow, now with webs for eyes. It looked quite cute, to her anyways. She turned to the human and thought that working with someone wasn't too bad after all. It got things done quicker and it was fun too. ::joltik:: L (10) // F Unnerve // Compound Eye String Shot * Leech Life * Spider Web * Thunder Wave * Screech A cuddler, very sweet but has a very short temper

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian hadn't yet considered asking the Joltik to use a move on it to create eyes, but it suddenly happened; spider webs shot out of the insect, latching onto the Metapod to create a face. Hmm - a bit out there, but it worked, and she considered the creation quite adorable. "Good aim." She remarked to the Joltik, pleased that they'd finished that up. But hmm... now what? She didn't know what to do other than leave or possibly have a friendly match with the creature. Then again... how would she word that? And so suddenly after helping her? It seemed like something odd to do. So she waited until a silence enveloped them for a moment before asking the question. "Do you want to battle with me?" Crap, she said that wrong. She intended to word it like, 'friendly match,' but it came out differently. Ugh. "In a friendly way." She added, mentally crushing herself for that little mistake.

Now that question seemed to arise from out of nowhere, even if the silence was starting to unnerve the spider. Did she want to battle? To be honest, no, she didn't want to battle against the trainer. However, she figured that she should be the mature one here and think it over. This was a trainer that helped her out, and was kind to her. Certainly she was offering her a way to repay Lillian? She would've liked to return the favor the Audino morph gave her, as she hated being in debt to others anyways. Look uncertain as she thought this over in her head, she let out a sigh as what seemed to be her answer.
<I'll battle you, just a one on one, ok?> She asked, hoping that the girl would be fair to her. Nothing crazy like; ‘Wild Joltik beats one of Lillian's Pokemon, then Lillian sends out another to finish the job', because then the Joltik would be raging all over the place. It didn't seem like a likely situation, but she heard stories from other Pokemon and figured that it happened pretty often.
<Who are you using?> She asked out of curiosity, hoping that she'd get an introduction of some kind. Was it an electric type like her? Maybe even a cute bug type? She blushed at the thought of some kind of well trained, prince charming emerging from whatever sphere she sent out. Not knowing was making her anxious.

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian smiled at the spiderp's answer, glad that she accepted the offer. She really needed some training for her pokemon, after all, and this was a good way to go about it. "Sure." She nodded to the request for a one on one. She considered who to use; from what she could tell, the Joltik was a bug-type, so the new addition to her party, a fire type, would be a good match. "I'll be using.. Beacon. A Litwick." She introduced, bringing out the pokeball in question. Unfortunately for the the insect, she wasn't an insect nor a prince charming.
In a flash of light, the Litwick appeared, instantly beaming when she saw the cute Joltik. <You're adorable!> She exclaimed excitedly before catching herself and smiling meekly at the insect. <Sorry.>
"We're having a friendly battle - one on one." Lillian explained to the candle, who nodded exuberantly. "Minimize and Astonish." She commanded in a smooth voice to her pokemon, who nodded before shrinking herself down. Then she grinned and swept towards the insect, quickly realizing that she actually didn't want to scare the creature. But before she knew it she was already directly in front of the insect, so she thought quickly and let out an Ember at her instead. <Woops!> She squeaked, realizing her mistake. Lillian was only a bit disappointed, though; as long as the Litwick knew she did something wrong, she could start correcting herself.

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Lillian was surprised at the Litwick's sudden change in demeanor, not expecting that outburst at all. Besides... weren't they all ladies here? That shout was just uncalled for. "Sorry." She responded anyway, biting her lip and feeling guilty that she was judging the Joltik's personality. Not forming opinions was better... too bad her logic and emotion tended to clash, causing a lot of stress most of the time. Bea, too, was surprised at the spider, visibly becoming less cheery when the insect had decided to snap at her. Even after complimenting her, too! That made her lose a bit of heart. <But I'm a girl.> She replied quietly, wanting to at least defend herself.
The arachnid kept insulting her, too, calling her a jerk, but she tried to ignore it. She felt like she hadn't done anything wrong. The Thunderwave came towards her, causing her to yelp as she tried to avoid it but was unable to. Lillian seemed disappointed when the candle wasn't able to move anymore, only able to freeze up and struggle not to cry as she looked at the Joltik. This was her first real trainer battle, and already she was being called a jerk - what was she doing wrong?

The Joltik was pretty upset alright; so upset that her head was all messed up and she couldn't even think straight. Words fired out of her mouth unpredictably as she hopped up and down in a heated passion. Her fur was bristled up like a cat, furious at how she was caught off guard with that Ember. Beacon, it was on! The Joltik hesitated when the Litwick didn't return fire, only commenting that she was a girl after all.
She had a bit too much pride to apologize, so she simply snorted and looked the other way. She wasn't sure what had gotten over her, but it was some kind of magic spell that she couldn't control. It kept happening, what could a bug do when they were left with a short-temper? <You're lucky you're so nice.> She grumbled, calming down a little more as she looked back at the fire type.
She had to attack somehow, or else the Litwick would never grow, and she'd fail to repay Lillian. With a sigh to calm herself down, she looked more serious than before as she made a pounce on the ghost. Her fangs were out in the open, ready to bite onto the wax-like body and suck some health away from her.

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Bea bit her lip as the arachnid turned the other way, giving off an aura of shame. A compliment suddenly left the insect's mouth, causing the gentle candle to pause with excitement before smiling slightly. She'd gotten through to her! She remained paralyzed, watching her foe wearily as she leapt up towards her; the paralysis didn't leave her until after the attack, unfortunately. This allowed the bug to leech quite a bit of health, causing the ghost to squeak slightly with pain before breaking away from the bite.
"Minimize and Ember." Lillian ordered, itching the side of her nose before returning to her resting position of crossed arms. Litwick looked back and nodded at her before turning back around, grinning in a friendly manner towards the spider before shrinking down once more. <Tiny!> She exclaimed with excitement, realizing that everything was becoming bigger. Then, listening to Lillian this time, she spat out another Ember towards the arachnid. Hopefully it wouldn't make the spider react badly this time.

The Joltik wasn't sure why the Litwick looked so happy, but it made her feel self-conscious as she suddenly avoided the ghost type's gaze. Was it that easy to cheer up another Pokemon? She didn't realize what it meant to the Litwick, feeling uncomfortable as the ghost battled as freely as it had at the beginning. Suddenly, she was dealing with a tinier foe. <Whoa, so small...> She commented with wide eyes, not expecting that to happen so fast.
She probably should've been on guard, but more embers came her way faster than she expected. She yelped as the fire type moves grazed her body, making her wince from the heat as it started to spread on her fur. Oh no it didn't! She instantly rolled around on the snow to put it out, heart racing from her fear of the embers that could easily overcome her body.
<NOPE.> She screeched as loudly as she could at the Litwick, as if she was rejecting the candle from using any other attacks like that in the future. It was actually surprising how such a small bug had such a loud voice, even startling herself a little at her loud screech. She wasn't done yet, wanting to try and get some health back like last time. She pounced on the Litwick with another Leech Life, definitely wanting health this time around.

Lillian, too, reacted to the shriek, wincing with even more pain than the Litwick as she massaged her agonized ears. That hurt. Bea managed to recover herself from the attack, though, looking up just as the Joltik leapt towards her. She cowered at first, then realized that she was small enough to dodge it; she sped out of the way - an easy feat when she was as small as she was.
Lillian had to give it to her - that was a smooth move. Smiling, she commanded, "Astonish." There wasn't enough time after that dodge to go for two attacks. Nodding with renewed confidence, the waxed candle raced towards the insect and attempted to put on a scary face. <Boo!> She squeaked rather unscarily. Hopefully it would still have the same effect.

l i l l i a n g r o v e s Beacon cringed just after scaring the spider; her reaction was much scarier than her actual move! At least it wasn't damage dealing, though - except to her poor ghostly heart. The arachnid soon complimented her, at least, reassuring her that she wasn't a bad spider. Then all of a sudden she spat a spider web towards her, causing her to shriek as it shrouded her waxy body. The part on the very top of her flame singed and burned, but the rest hung off like a bad wig. Distracted by this predicament, she indirectly allowed the Leech Life to hit and sap away her health points. It was very weak, fortunately for her.
Urggh, she could feel the paralysis acting up on her limbs again, but she was determined to land an attack before it would happen. "Emb-" Lillian started to say, but the Litwick was already ahead of her. Bea floated forward slightly and belted out a burst of flame towards the insect before her muscles locked up, not allowing her to move for the rest of the turn.

pokemon encounter ! < yessss~ > the happy sigh of the joltik was evident. the spider web had managed to trap the litwick. at least, from the yellow spider's point of view it had. with a bounce in the air, the spider didn't notice the little fire pokemon shooting little bits of fire at her. she yelped at the flames stung her hide, and she fell onto the ground whimpering. her eyes flared in anger. her temper was flaring again, and she charged, mouth parting let out this enormous screech. one had to think how a voice that large could come out of a creature so small. then, as soon as she'd lost her voice. joltik tried pouncing on the litiwck, a leech life in process.
though she was also slightly hesitant. she was about to eat away at a fire pokemon! she could easily flare up and burn her to pieces. what was she thinking, leeching the life of a fire type? the joltik closed her eyes as the pounced. her aim was a little off too.
