Alex was already lost as soon as she stepped on the ship. After a bit of walking around aimlessly, she managed to find her way to the ship's deck. "Wow!" she couldn't help but yell out. She had never been on a boat before, but she could stay here forever. Unfortunately, she couldn't do that. She remembered getting a message on her pokedex. It had the number she wrote down and a task next to it. She quickly flipped out the pokedex and read it again and began to worry. Could she trust anyone enough to do this? It seemed pretty important so it'd probably be best not to ignore it. As for now, she just wanted to relax. It was her first time on a cruise and she didn't want to mess it up by worrying so much.
Alex walked up to the railing and gazed off into the ocean. She was excited. This was going to be the most fun she's ever had!

He had forgotten why until the Articuno's Vision had set sail and he was now stuck in the middle of a large body of water, unable to really go anywhere. Sure, there was a rave downstairs but he needed to keep his head clear. It wasn't a secret who he was and he did not want to let his guard down. He had a strong sense that the punch had been spiked, as the trainer felt lightheaded from just a single drink. Was there anywhere he could get something to drink that wouldn't get him plastered?
He needed some air, even though he was now stuck aboard a swaying ship moving surprisingly fast. As he stared at the water, rushing past the boat's hull, he started to feel just a bit sick and adverted his gaze to examine the people on the deck instead. It was still relatively sparse, but it was much better than the bump and grind of the rave going on below decks.
Leaning on the railway, the cold metal bars pressing against his back and leaving wet marks, Blaze tried to relax, just a little bit. That was why he had come onto the ship, right?

((Ooc: I did forget to specify, but yes, this is open.))
Alex decided that this cruise would be a perfect oppertunity to make some new friends. She looked around the deck. There weren't very many people around. Most of the people were probably inside at the rave. Alex wasn't really too big into parties. Especially when you have the jerks who try to trick people into getting drunk by pouring alcohol into everything.
She saw one guy who was leaning against the railing. She walked up to him and tried to stir up a conversation. “Hi!” she greeted. “Enjoying the cruise”? she asked casually.

The water was making him a bit seasick and it was cold and he was a bit tipsy and it felt rather horrible. He definitely wasn't the kind of guy that enjoyed drinking. It felt miserable and though the open air was making him feel a bit better, the swaying of the boat was not helping. Regardless, he put on a small respectful smile toward the young lady, hiding all of his discomfort.
"Of course -- It's a lovely evening," he told her, trying to keep the mood light and enjoyable. He did not want to ruin this event for anyone just because he was feeling a bit sick. At least he was going to put on a facade until he could slink back into the cabin rooms to sleep his headache away. "And you?"

((OoC: No problem, I've already done it. I was thinking about doing it anyway.))
Alex was glad she didn't end up talking to some total jerk like she has in the past. This guy seemed friendly and polite. "Me? I'm having a great time! I haven't even gone to the party yet. I've never actually been on a cruise, but I could just stay out here looking at the ocean all day." She stopped there because she didn't want to end up blabbing on aimlessly.
She leaned against the railing and gazed out onto the horizon. She had seen the ocean before, but she was never fully surrounded by it. She loved the way the water glistened in the sunlight for as far as the eye could see. It was beautiful. "My name's Alex, by the way. What's yours?" She asked. If she wanted to be friends with this guy then she'd have to learn his name of course.

As long as he stayed outside, the headache should dissipate. He wasn't quite listening to her and didn't quite catch her name. It wasn't her fault -- the sound of the wind and the ship was quite loud and Blaze hadn't been paying attention. He'd just refer to her as he did his Team Death members. She's probably be Ugly, or something. Not that she was -- the trainer wasn't interested in her, and it was times like these where he wondered how he hadn't realized how utterly gay he was. She was just... normal.
"Blaze," he said, turning around so that he wasn't leaning on the metal railing anymore. "Where do you come from?" As long as he made sure the girl talked, he could appear to be perfectly civil and charming without much thought. He knew how to smile and nod at the right places. Unfortunately, he made the mistake of looking out the boat and down at the water, where it crashed against the hull of the boat, foaming as the ship sailed forward -- the trainer felt sick again, blaming it on the drink and really hoping that he wasn't getting seasick.

((OoC: Oh god, team death. Hopefully, Alex won't find out. Otherwise, she'll probably bring out the talk xD))
"Blaze? That's a cool name." Alex then heard Blaze's question. "Well, I was born here in Cheyenne, but I grew up in Cerulean City." Alex mentioned. She still didn't trust this guy enough to tell him exactly where she lived, so she tried to be as general as possible.
"Y'know, When I saw you, at first you looked pretty mean, but you're really not so bad so far. I'm just glad you didn't turn out to be some jerk." Alex said with a bright smile. She noticed Blaze looking down at the water, but didn't think much of it.

As long as she kept talking and he kept his gaze up toward the clear, starry sky. He was much more used to the sight of the vast sky, stretching endlessly around them. Normally, he would be interested in connecting the bright dots, despite his lack of knowledge for any constellations apart from the Big Dipper and maybe Orion. Today, everything made him dizzy -- why was the boat moving so much?
"Have you been to the rave? I know most trainers were looking forward to go down there," Blaze told the other, though already thinking of ways to get out of this mess. Ugly seemed like a fun-loving girl who didn't mind having a good time.

Although Blaze didn't care, Alex was already having fun. She loved to just talk sometimes, and this was one of them. "I actually haven't. I'm not much of a party person. Especially on places like this where you have everyone trying to trick you into getting drunk." She explained. "I guess I'm just paranoid, but I don't want to end up accidentally getting drunk and doing something I'll probably regret."
Alex realized she finally had the chance to talk about the tragic event that happened to her... but she wanted to have fun on this cruise instead of spending the whole time crying over the same gunshot echoing in her ears. It was already starting to do so, so she quickly changed the subject. "Are you an experienced trainer?" She asked, trying to hide any sign of sorrow on her face.

"Smart girl," he told her, turning to look back on deck where things were a bit better. "I've gotten a few badges," he told her, as a response to her question. It was a bit of an understatement, because he had achieved quite a bit in his young life. Professor, travels, and TD exec... he wasn't doing too bad, despite his slightly unpleasant boss.
"What about you?" he asked her, turning to look at her, though it was getting harder and harder for him to still smile. He gripped onto the railing, the cool feeling helping to ground him down a bit.

Alex giggled slightly at Blaze's complement. “I just know what goes on at those parties. I have a pretty gullible friend who never comes back sober” Alex informed him modestly. Alex wasn't surprised to find out he had a few badges. Then he asked about her. “I'm really still a beginner. I don't have any badges yet. Although, I was actually kinda forced to become a trainer. I would have loved to become a coordinator, but I needed to become a trainer for my own protection ever sense...” she paused for a moment. She was starting to tear up from the thought of it. Why did she have to bring it up? “I- I'm sorry I just- I just can't talk about it...” she said in a choked up voice. Alex hated being the drama queen, but how could she not with such a horrible thing happening so recently?
Alex decided that she may as well tell the guy what happened. If she didn't get it off her chest, she would never be able to get away from it. She took a deep breath. “Well, a few days ago, I was just in a grocery store and we were just about to leave when there was a gunshot coming from right near me. Before I knew it, I was grabbed by the man. I had never been so terrified. I was being used as a hostage.” She stopped there. She tried to go on, but she couldn't. That second gunshot was already echoing louder than ever. She grabbed her head and started to shake it. She was already trembling in fear. “I- I just wish I could forget it ever happened!” she began letting the tears fall from her eyes. She didn't even know if Blaze cared, but she had to tell someone.

It was the same feeling when his sister had come home one day and told them that her boyfriend had dumped her, or that she hadn't gotten accepted for that internship she desperately wanted in some professor's lab, before holing herself in her room to cry it out for a few hours. Someone would have to go in, listen to her with a compassionate shoulder, and Blaze was just really not interested in that right now. His head spun and he was dizzy, and he would not be able to handle this for too long.
"You've been through a terrible ordeal -- I could never imagine going through something like that." These empty words he was saying were made up on the spot in hopes of consoling the girl and he really wasn't sure whether it worked or not. "But... bad things happen, and you mustn't forget your dreams, Ugly." The name had slipped out without him meaning to, without him realizing it. He just wanted her to cheer up a bit, be happy, and he really just had the habit of calling his Team Death members by their given nicknames.

Well, Alex stopped crying... unfortunately for Blaze. "'Ugly'?" Perhaps she misheard the man. "Did you just call me ugly!?" Uh-oh, it was coming. Any of Alex's friends would tell you she would have no problem being a mother. She already had "The talk" down. "For your information, You are the only person ever to call me ugly, so I know it's not true! You have the nerve to insult a 15 year-old girl crying over a traumatizing moment in her life!?" Alex could not believe what this guy just said! When anyone got her angry, she had her ways of making them regret it. It was hard to make her angry, but just one little word can flip her personality from an angel of the heavens to Satan's daughter. As anyone would expect, Blaze recieved a slap. And Alex didn't just slap. She slapped like her power level was over 9000. She was the hardest slapper in her school, and Blaze was on the end of her palm. He let slip the wrong word to the wrong girl.
After that, Alex walked over to the railing not too far away from Blaze. She was still forgiving and would allow Blaze to apologize if he wasn't a total jerk. He'd just have to be careful. If he let slip the real reason he called her Ugly, who knows what would happen? For now, Alex leaned against the railing, watching the ocean again. Now, it just seemed like a waste of time. She was too furious to appreciate the beauty of the sight.

Blaze physically cringed at the sound, not quite registering what she was saying apart from the fact that it was loud and he wanted it to stop.
And then pain blossomed on his cheek as she smacked him, and why was he getting hit again? Did he say anything bad? Oh yeah, he might of slipped up. It was all so blurry and confusing and painful that Blaze really couldn't think. The slap did manage to make him think a bit clearer, but he was sure his face was reddening because it was burning in a bad way.
The girl stalked away and Blaze felt incredibly bad about the whole situation. He hated upsetting people and he really hadn't meant it. He left the deck for a bit, going inside to the dining room for a few minutes. He stopped for a bit of cold water to clear up his mind and glanced at himself in the mirror (gosh his cheek was reddening) for a bit before going back out. He had snagged a flower from one of the arrangements before walking to her.
"I want to apologize," he told her, presenting the flower to her. He wasn't too sure what he should do to cheer her up, but at least he had to apologize. "That was uncalled for and I shouldn't have said that."

Alex felt even more upset as she saw Blaze leave the deck. She thought Blaze wouldn't even apologize. She started to feel bad herself. She might not be too good-looking right now due to her recent lack of sleep. She felt a wave of relief when she saw him coming back. He was holding... a flower? Alex always saw flowers as being a gift not to a friend, but to something more... was he going to ask her out or something? She hated turning people down with that kind of thing, she understood how badly it hurt most people and she hated to hurt people.
Alex gave a sigh of relief when Zack apologized and handed her a flower. "Oh, good. For a second there I thought you were going to-" She stopped herself, realizing it was a stupid assumption. "N- nevermind... I accept your apology She took the flower gently and looked at it in her hands. "I wanted to say I'm sorry. I probably overreacted because I'm so used to being called "pretty" or "beautiful" and I guess I don't really look to good right now. I've been having a lack of sleep for a while..." She explained. "Nightmares... it's the same nightmare over and over. I can't sleep without reliving that horrible day. You know the one. I guess I'm just getting cranky because of it."

Being back on deck did make him feel a bit dizzy, but the cold water he had splashed on his face made it a bit more bearable. And as long as he didn't watch the water, it would be fine.
"I'm sorry for what happened to you," he told her, a huge improvement from his last reply because he really, really did not want another smack on his face. The sting was still hot on his cheek and he was sure it was red. In the low light, it shouldn't be too visible, but he'd have to be more careful when he went back in so no one saw him or anything. "But don't worry about it. I understand that I was completely out of line. Thank you for understanding." He still wasn't quite sure what was going on -- something bad must have happened because she was talking about nightmares and didn't look too happy, but if he could just make sure that he didn't leave her crying and unhappy, then he supposed it was a success.

"Thanks..." Alex said as Blaze told her he was sorry for what happened to her. The whole thing was still rather depressing to think about, but on the bright side, she never would've become a trainer if it never happened. "I just don't understand how people can stand doing such terrible things... I know I was lucky... that I didn't die... but it's not easy living after being a hostage... I know it's a dumb question, but... has anything like this ever happened to you or someone you know?" she asked. She actually hoped to hear him say "yes" just so that she would know she's not alone. Although now, she's probably just come off as a weirdo. "I don't mean to invade your privacy or anything, I just... I just need to know if you understand what I'm going through..."
Alex just felt like she should keep talking about this. She might not get another chance to talk to anyone like this for a long time. She was starting to feel like she could trust Blaze, which was always a good thing. "I became a trainer to help protect myself in case something like that ever happened again, but I just feel more scared now than I did before... I mean, I'm all alone and if anyone with powerful pokemon where to attack... my pokemon definitely wouldn't be able to protect me. I just feel so weak. Like I'm at the mercy of everyone else... I practically ran from the only people giving me protection, thinking I would feel more protected now. She explained. Alex couldn't help but think about what her parents where doing without her. They where probably worrying to no end. She never should've left and she just wanted to go home. "What makes me even more terrified is just listening to the news... all those stories about attacks, and robberies... it seems to happen everywhere. I just know that If I was caught in the middle of something like that, I could get seriously hurt.
((OoC: I hope ya know I'm gonna be pushing the TD thing. xD))

Not entirely sure how much his face showed discomfort, he avoided eye contact to look at the inside of the ship instead. Blaze liked to think himself as someone that cared about pokemon, but then the trainers are the ones that suffer. Though not strictly a hostage situations, he has led and crafted situations designed to place trainers in conditions that were meant to challenge and test them. Sometimes things went out of hand and things went too far, and Blaze had been spending too much time worrying about the pokemon to think about the state of mind the trainers had to go through.
Team Death was a group that was perhaps a bit more radical than the norm. Yet this girl's story also reminded him of why he was doing this -- the chaos in this region was getting out of hand. These things shouldn't be happening -- the overcrowding of Verona has led to an increase in crime as not everyone was able to transition from their home town to this new era.
"I'm sorry," said Blaze, doing his best to keep his voice steady. "I can't say I've experienced something as horrific as what you had to suffer." He thought about his words, making sure he didn't completely screw up again. He couldn't help but feel that she was one of those trainers that weren't strong enough to train her pokemon, that wouldn't be able to help them reach their greatest potential. This was no time for politics, though, especially since he had just apologized to her, but he would have to tread carefully. "You shouldn't worry too much about the stories, though. They are mostly centred around Verona. The current..." government, if it could be called that "system of relocating all of the civilians to a single city hasn't quite worked out that well."
ooc as long as you remember TD's not the ones doing these petty crimes c;

Alex smiled weakly as Blaze tried to comfort her. "Thanks..." Although Blaze had never experienced it, she could tell that he understood how terrifying the whole experience was for her. Alex was starting to feel a little better about talking on this subject. Still, she felt a little emotionally unstable. "Not all of the stories revolve around Verona... they don't just happen in Cheyenne either. Those old stories of Team Rocket, Team Magma, Aqua, Galactic. The one that really scares me is Team Death. I haven't heard much, but they don't sound too nice... and for all I know, they could attack anywhere at any time. She leaned against the railing and gazed out into the ocean again. Seeing the water glistening in the sunlight seemed to help her stay calm.
"I'm sorry you had to see me like that... the way I was. I'm normally never scared so much. I never used to cry, but that" she stopped herself there. It was still a little painful to talk about it directly. "moment must have changed me inside. Keeping me from closing my eyes without hearing that sound echo... I hope I eventually forget about the pure terror I felt then. I don't want to live in fear for the rest of my life..." She meant every word she said. How long would this last exactly? What if it did last to the end of her life? What if it never got better and only got worse? Could it get so bad that she would end up resorting to suicide? She didn't even want to think of that. She turned her gaze back to the ocean to see the beautiful, calm waves off in the distance. She took a deep breath and managed to force a smile. Everything would end up just fine. What where the odds of something like this happening again? "Thanks for listening to my rants." It had been a while since she last smiled after thinking about that event. Maybe things where already getting better. Maybe it wouldn't take as long as she thought to get over it! Alex was excited at the thought.

He would like to think that they were different, that they were better and trying to make the world a more organized place to be. He would like to think that his actions were justified and that he believed in them wholeheartedly, otherwise what other reason did he have to keep on going?
Blaze lives on lies, because the truth was much harder to swallow. And so he dedicated himself to the lies to until he believes them with all his heart. He believes them and makes them true, blinding himself to anything else. Team Death was the ones that did what was right. Team Death was the ones that had the balls to go against this anarchy so everyone can live a better life. As long as he believed in the lies, he could stand being himself.
There was no use trying to convince this girl, though. She was already lost, most likely listening to Professor Winter's sermons and wallowing in self-pity over events she could not control.
"I'm glad I could be of service," he told her softly as he repeated little mantras in his head that team death is trying to make things better, team death is trying to make things better, team death is trying to make things better. "The boat is moving a bit too much for my taste, so I hope you don't mind if I retired for now," he told her. "It was nice meeting you." He extended a hand, hoping for a swift and easy departure in order for him to find a corner and re-convince himself of all his beliefs.
He is such a hypocrite.
ooc sorry for the delay <3
