Arthur was enjoying a brisk snowy morning when he realized that he was staring at snow when he woke up. Looking outside of the hotel he had decided to stay at for the night found it rather odd that such a thing could occur even in this region. Foggy as it was the other day, he was glad that he had rested well with his Meowth alongside him and his new companion gastly. Midnight had been the appropriate name given to the Meowth for her attitude, but the Gastly was a total different story as she was quite the energetic one. Always wanting to talk about something that happened not too long ago like the guy they could have sworn was stealing fruit from one of the stands that someone was attending.
Despite the gastly's enthusiastic nature, Arthur was tempted to release her, but she did make him laugh from time to time with her pranks on other people. Although, he did restrain Shimmer from pulling too many pranks at once, because there was such thing as too much. Today, Arthur was more bundled up in his black jacket, and he had some black gloves on along with a block stocking cap that kept his head warm from the cold. Deciding to take a stroll out in the park to chat with other trainers if they were there, as well as other trained Pokémon of course too. Arthur was definitely not looking for a trainer battle just yet. Shimmer was the name of his gastly...a cute name, but she definitely acted like a little brat the way she floated around some people.
Trying to find out what annoys them the most and then using it against them...the worst kind of Pokémon to have. Shimmer just really meant fun by it, but he had to keep telling her not to push people or it would get him in trouble. After learning to abide by this rule, she soon set on tugging on Midnight's tail whenever she wasn't looking. Shimmer was always chuckling whenever Midnight mewled curiously at her owner as he if was tugging at her tail, but realized he did have a ghost Pokémon after all. An iron tail would usually whip the gastly back into shape and teach it a little lesson. It was a light nudge so it wouldn't hurt, but Shimmer was scowling at Midnight for that.
Shimmer soon just faded in and out again as she chuckled slightly soon nuzzling in next to her trainer. Midnight was on the other side curled up in a ball almost as he was now sitting on the park bench after having made his way to this place. It looked rather desolate for a public area, but maybe there was someone here he knew. "Shimmer stop bothering Midnight, you know she hates it when you tug on her tail, but I know you like bothering her," Arthur said to her. Shimmer gave Arthur a confused look, before going all mopy as she looked down all innocently as if she didn't mean to. Then her eyes went all watery like she was about to cry so that he'd forgive her.
Arthur should have known she would try that as he glared at her for trying that and then her gaze stopped after realizing she was pushing her trainer's generosity. "Sorry, master, I was just having fun, you know I love pulling pranks! she said to him, and merely smiled with her smile closing her eyes slowly. One day she'd be the best prankster ghost Pokémon in the world and no one would challenge her pranking skills. Yes, that was her goal to be the best prankster ever, and Arthur was going to help her hone her skills. As well as that cat...luckily Midnight couldn't scratch her...she didn't want her good looks to be ruined...even though she was just an orb of a departed soul long ago. Shimmer faded in and out again before finally settling down...then faded out so that anyone sitting down wouldn't notice her.
Then she'd reappear in front of their faces and yell "BOO!", ah yes, classic Shimmer, saving the best for the first person to sit down. Midnight was busy grooming herself now, but she didn't mind the cold as her fur kept her rather warm. Although her trainer insisted on her wearing a very SILLY costume that would ruin her fur and she didn't want that...oh no. Yes, she could be prissy, but she wasn't going to wear the newest fashion statement as she idly mumbled about the gastly having a short attention span, but it was not caught by the over-excited gastly.

Marlaey had just finished a very delicious bowl of soup in the cafe when she decided that it might be a nice idea to take a wander around the park. It was a cold day, and though Marlaey hated having to wear extra layers, it was a necessity. She kept her gloveless hands in her pockets and headed down through the park area. There were no wild pokemon about so maybe she should let her newest team member out? She reached into her bag and retrieved a pokeball, releasing a very dark coloured young ekans. Marlaey had accidentally stumbled over an abandoned pokeball in the city and found a pokemon still inside! She had tried to contact someone about it, but it appeared that no one wanted the ekans anymore, so Marlaey had taken her on. She named her Nara.
Nara slithered from her pokeball into Marlaey's jacket and coiled around her torso and neck protectively. The young ekans was a timid creature, but she had connected strongly with her new trainer and felt that this was her rightful place. Her head bobbed up and down beside Marlaey's as they moved along the path. Hissing slightly, Nara noticed a person and their pokemon on a bench nearby. Marlaey looked up and spotted them too. It would be nice to chat with someone she thought, so she headed in their direction.
"Hi there", she greeted warmly, "I hope we're not disturbing you." Nara made the unusual purring sound she used when she was happy, looking to the female Meowth.

Arthur watched the new trainer come into the vicinity and that's when he decided that the gastly was surely going to be in for a treat when she saw the Ekans. Soon enough as the girl got even closer, the gastly was waiting patiently on the bench that had been cleared of any snow. "Ah, hello, I'm not doing anything...so no you're not," he said to her, but he wasn't going to make a huge deal out of it in the first place. Right now he was staring straight ahead, pretending she wasn't even there as his meowth Midnight spoke up slowly. "Our trainer doesn't like to be disturbed while he's resting, but you can take a seat, he doesn't bite..he just pretends to act serious. He really does love Pokemon, meow," she said as her tail wiggled a little.
The gastly, Shimmer was still sitting there and then appeared by Arthur on the other side. Frowning slightly that her fun was ruined as she spoke up too. "Shimmer, you know no one's going to sit there right away, especially if they knew I had you. What would you do if someone told you to come out from hiding would you move around and scare them?" Arthur asked her, but soon brought his attention back to the young female. She didn't seem too young, but he yawned slightly as he leaned back a little. Midnight licking her paws and the Gastly on the other side of him looking at the newcomer.
Arthur had another pokeball on his belt, but he wasn't planning on showing his bidoof off just yet. There were more important matters to discuss first of all. One of them was who she was, "Who are you by the way? I'm Arthur, this is Midnight, my Meowth, and Shimmer, my gastly. In the pokeball here is Adventura, the bidoof," he said to her the newcomer. Gastly turned her attention towards the new trainer again after answering Arthur, "Hello, would you like to hear a joke?" she asked with a toothy smile, and Shimmer did a cute little roll in the air.

Marlaey nodded to the man, glad she hadn't interrupted, though she wondered if he had actually meant what he said. His Meaowth appeared to be friendlier than he was! Nara looked to the Meaowth when she spoke to her trainer. The ekans had learned quickly that Marlaey didn't understand pokemon speech, but obviously others couldn't be expected to know this. <My trainer cannot understand us, though I'd be happy to nudge her to sit down.> She did so with a prod of her tail and Marlaey blinked, looking at her ekans. She grinned and went to sit down, thinking she understood the meaning.
But her way appeared to be blocked by another pokemon. The man in front of her looked at her and then yawned, leaning back in his seat. A frown creased her brow ever so slightly at his rudeness. Why was he acting this way? And it wasn't a very polite way to ask who she was either. "What's you name?" would've sounded so much more friendly. She nodded to him, refusing to raise to the bait, whether it was intentional or not. "My name is Marlaey", she said, "This is Nara and I have five other pokemon in their pokeballs travelling with me." Nara tilted her head at the Gastly's question. <Yes please.>

Arthur soon noticed she was talking to him again, but he didn't really seem to care at the moment. Deciding to keep his mind rather occupied with other things that were going on. Even if his mind was focused on how to become the best trainer in the world, but he would manage somehow some other way. Midnight nodded towards the Ekans that was talking to her now, but seemed to just go with it. Shrugging her meowth like shoulders slowly. "I see, well I only have three for now, hoping to get more....how long have you had your pokemon?" he asked her first as he then nodded to the ekans for a moment.
Yes, that was right, he forgot not everyone could understand Pokemon speech, but he could pretend to try. Even so, he was smirking slightly at her for a moment, "Do you come here often? I think my gastly wishes for you to take a seat," he said to her, smiling slightly. "Knowing her, she might be about to pull a prank on you, just be warned, Arthur said. Then Shimmer proceeded to frown at this, because Arthur basically just ruined her fun. Oh well, she was going to continue with this joke, "So, why did the blaziken cross the road?" she said, rather giddily as if this was the best joke in the world.

Marlaey was definitely getting a very cold vibe off this guy and she was sure that had Harper been by her side he would have been growling. But she never liked to forgo courtesy so she continued to give him the benefit of the doubt. Even if he didn't seem to want to talk to her at all. "Not for very long, just a few weeks", she said, thinking that if the conversation continued to remain this stilted that she'd just ask him if he wanted her to leave. No point in staying in someone's company if they didn't want you!
Nara looked straight back at the man, her protectiveness overcoming her naturally timid nature.
"No, I've never been here before actually. This is my first time coming to the park, what about you?", she looked to the ghastly and said, "Thank you", before sitting down. Though the snow had been cleared away, the bench was still cold. Nara tightened her grip around her trainer at the mention of a prank, but Marlaey didn't mind. She was used to pokemon playing games like that. Her own Paras was full of energy and never missed an opportunity to wreak havoc.
Nara cocked her head to one side, <I don't know.>

Arthur was glad he wasn't the only one that thought she was slightly strange, but kept his attention focused on the path ahead of him. One arm slowly withdrawing to himself as he watched her take the seat, and trying to determine her motives. Now he had some serious questions to ask her pertaining to pokemon that were easily relevant in the long run. Only, that he wasn't going to be very oblivious about it either since he was usually rather blunt in the first place. Glad they had run into each other since it had been a while since he had seen an Ekans, but that slightly worried him since Ekans ate birds didn't they? Looking down at Midnight, he knew she was just listening in on their conversation so there really wasn't anything to worry about. "No worries, sorry if I'm a little standoffish, I'm not normally talkative, but yes this is my first time essentially coming here too. I really care about my pokemon and don't want anyone messing with them," he warned her in case she did try to attack them or anything.
That was just Arthur being cautious, he wasn't a bad person in general, because he did hate Team Death for abusing Pokemon in the long run. So he would eventually warm up to her as he soon patted Midnight on the head. Shimmer looked at Nara again, and smiled a toothy smile as she totally made the next part up, how cool was that? "Well, to get to the other side of course," she said and rolled around in the air laughing like a little girl giggling her head off. Closing her eyes softly as she did this giving it a more funny effect, but she was tempted to do another little prank while then suddenly disappearing.
Soon she appeared in front of the trainer that Arthur was talking with making a scary face, and then went back to talk with the Ekans. Midnight was shaking her head as she listened to the joke, then turned her attention to the Ekans while enjoying the attention her trainer was giving her. Midnight soon spoke up finally, "Well, you think that's bad wait til you hear her knock knock jokes.." she said licking her paw and continued to groom herself on the spot. Arthur was soon going to inquire about something else as he looked over at Marlaey, "So, do you like the cold?" he asked her softly as he looked up to the sky letting his head tilt upwards showing off most of his neck too while watching some snow falling.

"No problem!", Marlaey said smiling, glad he knew how he'd been acting. She forgave him instantly for that, it wasn't really that big of a deal anyway. At the mention of his Pokémon she nodded in agreement. "Of course, I would never want anything to happen to mine, they're too important to me." She reached a hand up and subconsciously stroked Nara's jawline affectionately. Nara purred in her strange way, enjoying her surprise rub. Marlaey wondered for a moment if Arthur was afraid she might hurt his Pokémon or mean them some kind of harm. Maybe he'd had a bad experience in the past to make him think that way. But this was all just her speculating. she had no real reason to believe any of it yet.
Nara frowned and then rolled her eyes at the answer to the joke. <That's ridiculous!> she exclaimed, but she still grinned showing her sharp fangs. But after rolling around, Shimmer disappeared and Nara looked around for her, confused. She reappeared in front of Marlaey, frightening her and making her stumble backwards. "Oh!", she cried, taken aback. She shook herself and laughed, "You must be very good at pranking people", she said kindly to the Ghastly. But Nara wasn't impressed at all. Here was a trainer concerned for his pokemon, yet it was his Ghastly who was bullying her trainer! The young Ekans was still bonding with her trainer so she hadn't yet developed a sense of humour in that area. She just felt overly protective. She hissed quietly to herself, almost not hearing the Meowth's comment.
Marlaey thought for a moment. "I think I prefer warmer weather just because it means I don't have to wear so many layers. But I do like how fresh a brisk breeze can make you feel. How about you?"
((Sorry about the late reply!! Was swamped with college work! ^^))

Arthur was starting to nod his head towards her, but he had to consider her position right now. Although, in her own way she was very attractive, but he sensed a little age difference between them that unnerved him a little. Yet right now he was still acting so nonchalant and expressionless. Grinning after she said that, he merely shrugged for a moment after considering what to respond with. Noticing his gastly rolling around again, but he was laughing slightly at her joke. Yes, he could understand pokespeech, but he was a trainer first and foremost. "Okay, so I think we're at a stand off here, I just started my journey not too long ago, but if you'd like to tag along with me it would be fun I would think. That is, if you want to, I'm not really one for friendships but a companion could work so that way we can at least have a better chance at survival...but I guess we should get to know each other better first," he said to her.
Shimmer was merely looking at her ekans with a slight contorted look that looked rather amusing, but she shook her head. Obviously she wasn't one to pull pranks on her own since her trainer allowed her a lot of free reign, but when it came to battles there was no restraint for her. Finally responding to the Ekans again, "Yes, I am, but I can be serious for when me and my trainer are in a battle," she responded as she then just floated there slowly. Keeping herself calm a little bit, but now Midnight was just being a normal meowth, and licking herself some more to keep her fur rather pristine.

Marlaey was taken aback by Arthur's abrupt turn in conversation. She frowned for a moment, thinking to herself. Well, he seemed nice enough, if a little stand offish. It would be good to have some company along her journey, especially when she thought about how dangerous it could get. But did he really want just a companion? She wasn't sure how it would work if they didn't become friends. It sounded a little awkward. But maybe he was just one of those people who needed a little more time to open up. If that was the case she felt it would be alright. But she had to get one thing straight first.
"I don't intend to 'tag along' with you, we'd be travelling together, as equals. I also started my journey recently and I think it would be a good idea to have someone to travel with, but I agree that we should probably get to know each other a little better. Apart from that I like the idea." She turned to him, smiling and raising her eyebrow, curious to hear his response.
Nara had been listening closely to her conversation. She wondered what Arthur's pokemon would think of his suggestion. She asked them, looking to each for their answer.

Arthur was nodding towards her as he considered her response to be a rather acceptable answer since there really was no way he was going to actually bring her along if she had just been along for the ride. OH yes, he was very serious when he needed to be, but why now all of a sudden. Why let some random stranger join him, perhaps it was because she was a trainer like himself set out to rule the world. I mean, he just wanted to become the champion and then eventually teach his Pokémon new moves while leveling them with another trainer he could battle on the spot. Yes, those battles were normally rigged in one fashion or another, but Arthur was certain he could win against this new trainer too.
That was...only if a Pokémon battle ensued and then Arthur soon stood up and held his hand out to her, blushing a little as if he were acting nice just solely on the fact she was more so a woman than a girl. At least that's what he read from the way she talked to him. Would you like some help up, I'm afraid my butt is getting cold from sitting here too long," he said to her, and unbeknownst to her besides his pokemon, his butt was pretty wet. Considering he had sat in snow for the past half hour that they had been talking. Plus he didn't want to go change his pants either, and Midnight was now snickering along with Shimmer. Shimmer, the gastly, didn't say anything as Midnight, the meowth, merely continued grooming after the little chuckle fest.
Nothing would warm up his butt so he decided to live with it as he looked at the glorious sculptures all around them. Arthur was obviously read to do something but he was actually just standing up to stretch now. "Well, we could stay here too, I just wanted to stand up to stretch my legs," he said carefully and slowly so she'd understand he was being sarcastic instead of just saying...'hey, my butt's wet, got a light?' That would have been rather hilarious. Shimmer and Midnight both looked at each other, shrugging their shoulders...well the gastly attempted to.
Although, it was obvious they didn't mind as the gastly soon nodded enthusiastically after mimicking the meowth for a minute or two further just to annoy her until Midnight glared at her. Giggling, Shimmer turned back to her, while the Meowth soon stuck up her nose at the Gastly. "Hmph!" was all Midnight said to Shimmer as Shimmer soon spoke up..."I had a short talk with Adventura too and she'd be happy to have you with us too...I'm sure we'd make a great team" she said softly and gave two thumbs up with her invisible hands.

Nara noticed both Midnight and Glimmer snickering at something when their trainer stood up and she was curious to know what it was. Craning her head around she tried to see if there was anything funny going on. She couldn't make out anything different until she noticed a wet patch on Arthurs.. ah.. bum. She chuckled to herself, glad she didn't have that problem being snuggled in her trainer's coat and all.
Marlaey smiled and reached for his hand, ignorant of anything remotely funny going on. She stood up, blushing ever so slightly at his manners and stretched, reaching for the sky. She turned to Arthur, wondering if he'd perhaps like to take a walk around the park instead of just sitting here. It would give their feet something to do while they talked, and it might keep them warmer too. She gestured up along the path, "Maybe we should take a walk for now? Unless there's something else you have in mind?" She was perfectly open to suggestions and made a mental note to battle him at some point. His pokemon were fit and healthy and she was keen to see how well they fought. It would also give her a chance to get to know Arthur on a different level. Pokemon after all were very personal creatures, and how a trainer uses them in battle could be very telling.
Nara was pleased to hear that all of Arthur's pokemon were so accepting of them already. It made her feel all warm and gooey inside!

Arthur was certain that he was just offered to get up but as soon as he stood up a chill air touched his bum. That was when he realized his pants had literally frozen just then and he found out he couldn't get up at all. What an awkward position this was, and there were no fire pokemon around to help him out of this situation. His only option was to make sure that no one saw this because he would need to mend his pants after Midnight would use Iron tail on it. Although, he could get his gastly to try getting it free, but he didn't want to torture any of his pokemon by doing this for him. So instead he got up quickly and let out a slight yelp as he felt his buttocks rip a little. The jeans weren't broken at all, but now there was a nice patch of ice there.
Perhaps going inside somewhere warm to warm up and also chill off his butt might work out. "Well, guess I am going to need to chill out now," he said, merely giving a half-smirk at his lame pun. The pun made both his gastly and meowth wince a little at the bad pun. "I agree with him, let's go somewhere warmer, it's getting colder out here," Shimmer and Midnight both suggested as they decided to start following after their trainer to find a more comfortable place to stay in.

Nara winced too as she saw Arthur's dilemma, she considered retrieving Nova or Harper's pokeball from her trainer's bag as they were both fire types, but maybe that migh do more harm than good. She could just imagine the damage they could cause with fire spitting everywhere. Such a terrible element she thought, so violent, so flashy. Poison, now there was a good way to attack others, subtle yet effective. Snuggling down into her trainer's coat she purred happily.
Marlaey nodded in agreement, "Good idea", she said, looking around. "Maybe the coffee shop nearby? We could get some warm drinks in there?" She too would be glad to be out of the cold.

Arthur glanced at her and nodded his head towards considering he was too cold to care where they went as his teeth suddenly started chattering unknowingly. Midnight could tell he was going to catch a cold if they didn't get him to a shelter soon, but he already had the case of the sniffles as he tugged on Marlaey's hand, grasping it with his own unaware that this could have made them look like a couple. There was no blush evident on his face as he did this and seemed to consider it normal behavior for what was about to happen. Midnight was merely looking at Nara, but was more concerned for her trainer at the moment and really didn't' want him getting sick anytime soon. That just meant it would hinder their adventure and she wouldn't be able to protect him even better by gaining more experience throughout it.
So, she tugged on his leg pushing him along as Arthur tugged on the girl's hand gently to guide them towards the cafe, "Then I suggest we get going, and get out of this cold, please come with me, I don't want you to get lost," he said to her smiling softly towards her, and it was the first genuine smile he had given her since meeting her.

Marlaey felt herself blush only slightly as Arthur reached for her hand. She clasped it tightly, appreciating it's warmth. Together they headed towards the cafe, both shivering a little now from the cold. She was already planning what she was going to have once they got there! Hot chocolate all the way!
At Arthur's smile she warmed to him more than she had done yet. This was the real him, she decided. He wasn't as stand offish as she'd thought, obviously first impressions just weren't his thing! But after a little while of sharing she had begun to see how passionate he was about pokemon and this intrigued her. She too was obsessed with the beautiful creatures that inhabited their world and she loved training them to get stronger and win battles. It seemed as if they had this at least in common. She hoped they could talk more on the subject, she would love to hear his views and opinions on strategies, types, breeding, levels etc. It would be wonderful to have someone to discuss it all with!
Before she knew it they were standing outside the little coffee shop. Nara purred happily, feeling the hot current of air sweep past them as someone stepped out into the cold, leaving the door open for a split second.

Arthur could feel the cold chill on his butt, but he was following after Marlaey slowly, and even though he was trying to coax her to move faster he had to make sure that Midnight was still with him. The feline's fur was keeping her warm, but Arthur was more concerned with not catching a cold as he opened the door, letting her go first. It was obvious he was a gentleman too, and didn't want to make it look too much like he was still more concerned about himself. Midnight merely gestured to the other trainer to go first, and he really wasn't thinking of anything else besides getting warm. Once they were inside he would at least order his cappuccino and get himself a seat near the window.
Of course, they would have to wait in line first, but luckily there weren't that many people there as he moved to stand in line next to Marlaey letting her go first since he could let his butt warm up a little. At least his pants were melting and he felt more comfortable, not only that, but it was already warmer inside the place. Then he nodded towards her as his serious face returned, but it was a little softer than before. "I'll just have a coffee," he said to the cashier as soon as he got to his place in line and took his seat gently taking a sip on it as his Pokemon sat beside him merely curling up in a ball as she started to close her eyes to take a cat nap.

In a quick and violent swoop he quickly flew from his high pillar all the way to the area in Verona where Arthur and Marlaey were. He flew right near the window, but did not harm it as he stood there to see the two trainers.
>Hi! How are you?! I am so ready to party. I hope you will join me!< He said out loud. Ordering a large hot chocolate, Marlaey sat down down opposite Arthur, taking off her coat before cupping the warm drink in her hands. Nara slithered from her coiled position around her trainer and curled up on the seat beside her, purring pleasantly at the warmth from the nearest radiator. It was so much nicer sitting in here than out on a bench in the cold wintery weather. She smiled over her cup at Arthur before taking a sip.
Just as she was about to strike up a conversation, something very unexpected happened. A freaking Rayquaza appeared outside the window, right in front of both her and Arthur. Marlaey's jaw dropped. Nara looked up, awe and fear evident in her eyes. Party? Wait, what?? But no one had much of a chance to respond to the legendary beast's invitation as the glass shattered and he managed to knock everyone unconscious.
Well that was unusual.

Arthur was surprised the the little cafe was so quaint and able to hold as many people as it did. Just as he was watching Marlaey about to talk, he suddenly heard a booming voice talking to them. Surprised, he turned his head and saw the most unimaginable thing staring at him. Instead of answering he quickly whipped out his pokedex to at least get it in his entries, but that was only cause he was half-thinking when the booming voice suddenly asked if they wanted to party. Arthur's mouth was forming a yes as he suddenly heard all the windows shattering from this and he shielded his eyes as he suddenly passed out from the magnitude of the sheer velocity. Avoiding the glass as much as possible while Midnight was already asleep, but perked up when she heard the voice.
Midnight was just dumbfounded when she saw the tail of the Rayquaza flying off into the distance, but most of all Arthur's pokedex had at least gotten a glimpse of it. Finishing it's monotone drivel once it had flown off, and finally he started to regain consciousness after almost falling face first into his hot beverage. Well, at least he wasn't wearing it on his face, but he was trying to remember if seeing that legendary was real at all. It was amazing that such a force would have even come to greet them in the long run at all. Oh well, Arthur was sure one day they would meet again under other pretenses. Good news was, is that he didn't destroy the cafe completely, but the thunderous movement it made wasn't hard to miss. "Was that...a legendary?" Arthur asked, trying to make sense of what happened.
Even after he closed his pokedex, and then looked up the entry, he realized that the picture at least resembled one. Another entry added, but he didn't remember the brief encounter at all anymore. It seemed like it was erased from his mind and then the entry itself was deleted from his pokedex. Like some mysterious force was at work and then he frowned, banging the pokedex against the table eliciting weird looks. "Damn thing, it said it saw the pokemon not two seconds ago," he muttered to it, but shrugged. "So, it looked like you were about to ask me something, may I ask what it was?" he said to Marlaey now that his mind wasn't occupied on the legendary.
