Trying to recoup her thoughts, Marlaey nodded absently. "A question? Oh yes.. I think.. Well actually, for some reason I can't exactly remember!" She laughed at the ridiculousness of it. "I'm almost definitely sure it had something to do with pokemon though, but that's probably because it's what I spend most of my time thinking about.." She was sure she'd remember the question in a moment, but that didn't help her embarrassment at forgetting in the first place. She sipped her hot chocolate, wondering absently why Nara was being so distant. The snake pokemon wasn't usually this sort of quiet, it was almost as if something had happened to spook her... But Marlaey couldn't think what.
After another few minutes she gave up. The question wasn't coming to her. Oh well, she could ask a different one instead! "Is there any particular pokemon you would love to catch and train? she asked, curiously.

Arthur mused slightly as he noticed Midnight was constantly taking a nap, but it was odd for her to not look like she had just taken a cat nap previously. Trying to rustle his Pokémon he soon retreated her to her pokeball after realizing that the Rayquaza might have knocked her out as Arthur's pokedex spoke up again. Saying it had indeed seen the legendary and was prerecording it again so that he didn't lose the same data twice. Oh, thank god, and then he looked out the window again as the chill in the air was back, however the windows seemed to have been repaired for now as workers made sure to get that done as fast as possible.
Arthur continued to sip his own drink, but he decided to keep his Pokémon in their pokeballs for now so that same incident wouldn't happen again. "Me, I would love to train a growlithe some day and raise it to be an Arcanine since that's my favorite Pokémon. Although, my pidgey I have is another of my favorites I'm going to raise considering I had befriended one when I was smaller. One day it disappeared and never returned though," he said calmly sipping his coffee, but there was a slight sad, distant look in his eyes now as he thought of that. "What about you?" he asked her in return.

Marlaey was impressed at the speed the window repairmen worked. They must be getting paid overtime or something! She heard Arthur's pokedex mention somthing about a legendary pokemon and suddenly remembered why the glass was broken in the first place! How on earth had she forgotten? Must be something rare pokemon could do... Well hopefully this time she wouldn't forget so easily. She noticed he'd returned his meowth to the safety of her pokeball, but Nara seemed quite comfortable where she was so Marlaey didn't do the same. The snake pokemon yawned widely, her forked tongue flickering out as she regained consciousness somewhat. But sleep drew her in once more and she nodded back off.
Holding her drink cupped in her hands Marlaey listened as Arthur described the pokemon he would love to raise. A growlithe! Just like her Harper! His pidgey friend disappearing was sad though.. "I have a growlithe" she said with a smile, "He was my first pokemon ever. Harper is his name. But as for a pokemon I'd love to raie? Hmm... I've always wanted a lapras. They're just so graceful and elegant..."

Ah yes, growlithe, and he realized just how much he loved the furry little animal, mainly cause he could evolve it into an arcanine of course. That was the whole reason of raising that Pokemon, but he wouldn't evolve his growlithe until it had learned all the moves he wanted it to. All he really need it to learn was Flamethrower among other things, but even then he would just be fine with the normal things it should know. Those fire attacks mainly, but Arthur disliked any attacks that damaged the pokemon itself when it used said attack against another. This world was full of the little creatures and he enjoyed being able to talk with them at times even if he couldn't understand them.
"Well, I caught a pidgey a while back, he's already warming up to the team and enjoying it a lot it looks like," he said calmly, looking around for a moment again as he picked up his pokedex. Arthur was incredibly smart for catching the Rayquaza in his sites, but that was about it. Sadly he had nothing else to comment on in the long run, and finally just kept to himself for a little bit. "Lapras, yes, and I hope one day to have a gengar too, that would be lovely to have...main moves would be Hypnosis and Dream Eater...all the way, haha, but what is your favorite strategy to use?" he asked as he was curious to hear her own strategy. Deciding to bring out his pidgey Speed, and then suddenly CHIRPING was abound as the hyper-active pidgey perched on his shoulder right there. Although, it stopped seeing that the other pokemon was sleeping.
"This is Speed, my pidgey," he said calmly, but Speed just sat there staring idly. Then unexpectedly lifted his left wing and brought it down in front of him as he did a low sweeping bow almost whacking Arthur in the face. Obviously an eccentric show off.

Marlaey nodded, very proud of her growlithe. He had been with her from the beginning and she wouldn't ever trade him. Though she knew he could evolve into arcanine, she hadn't ever given it much thought. If he wanted to evolve he would tell her, she wasn't going to make that decision for him. To her they were best friends, not just partners in training. She did wish sometimes though that she could understand what he was saying... Maybe one day she'd learn to understand pokespeech?
"You did?", Marlaey asked, interested. She loved flying types, even if she had difficulty catching one of her own. And pidgey evolved into such a fearsome yet gracious bird. She grinned at his strategy for using a gengar. It was a good idea, immobilising your opponent and then attacking when they can do nothing about it. She thought for a moment about what she liked to do in battle, and then remembered that she wasn't very good at it. But she did think of one strategy that could prove useful. "I like the idea of confusing the opponent with something like Supersonic or Confuse Ray and then maybe draining it's health to boost my own pokemon's. Perhaps that's why I like zubat so much!" She laughed softly, thinking of Uar, her own bat and how he made such bad judgement calls in and out of battle.
"Oh he's gorgeous!" she exclaimed, "and funny too!" She liked him immediately, wanting to reach out and stroke him, but deciding not to disturb him. Nara cracked an eyelid open, murmured something about a mouthful and then returned to slumber.

[STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] Arthur smiled at his pidgey as he perched atop his shoulder and merely patted his head gently. Speed was nuzzling against his hand but then looked at the Ekans curiously. A snake, and the bird, hmm, what kind of play could he come up with. Suddenly the curious little pidgey was hopping down onto the seat next to Arthur as he flapped his wings to look around the area for a moment. What on Earth was he doing, but he had other intentions as he looked over at Marlaey, and couldn't help noticing she was rather cute. Perhaps he could muster enough courage to do something with her, but even as he was considering that, he realized he needed to steel his heart so desire wouldn't throw away his chance at becoming a Pokémon master. There was no time for love, but in the long run, he was almost thinking she would have been a perfect match for him. Nah, that was too soon to even start thinking like that as he finally nodded towards her after getting lost in her eyes a little too long, and a blush came to his cool demeanor. "Sorry, well, I have to say though, you take very good care of your pokemon, I would like to maybe battle you from time to time or something..how's your hot chocolate?" he asked her as he took a sip of his own cocoa just trying to think of things to make small talk about. pidgey | 7.5 | male likes to make plays - actor - eccentric [STYLE=border-bottom: 5px solid #FFC7FF;] [/style] notes: Yes I like this template. word count: N/A tagged: Steve/para/open

Marlaey was captivated by the pretty little pidgey before her. He was so small, yet he looked like a strong fighter! And just imagine, one day he would be a large Pidgeot! She loved flying types, they had such a grace and elegance rarely found in other pokemon. She envied Arthur a little for having caught one of his own, but she admired him too much to feel any badness towards him really.
Nara was purposefully ignoring the bird now, her whole body curled tightly around itself.
Marlaey beamed, "Thank you very much! I do love them.. And I can see from your team that you take care of yours very well too. They all seem to get along together!" At the mention of battling eachother now and again, Marlaey nodded eagerly, "Sounds like a plan alright. It would give us a chance to let our pokemon get to know eachother too." She sipped her hot chocolate once more and smiled, "It's lovely, thank you. How is yours?"

Arthur wasn't concerned anymore, but he noticed that Marlaey certainly liked pokemon as much as he did which gave him a growing respect for her, but time for love was out of the question. Even though he was leading up to events that would eventually make him actually try asking her out in the end against his better judgement. Well, either way, he had a win-win scenario with just battling her for fun, but he hoped these feelings for her didn't develop any further than they already did. Even as his body was churning with the desire to actually form even a coherent sentence without admiring her, but he figured acting natural would be the best thing right now. Even as Arthur caught glimpses of her pokemon coiling up a little bit more, the pidgey was still busy chirping. Looking at the entire area, he knew that Midnight was just resting now.
"You want to see them all, well I'm not sure there would be enough room since there's so many of them," he said calmly taking out his pokeballs, then throwing them onto the ground where the red light seemed to flash in an instant making about five other pokemon appear. Speed, his pidgey was still out, but he was starting to pick at his wings with his beak to make sure he was primed for the ekans as he winked at her playfully even though nothing would happen between them ever. Midnight, Arthur's meowth, was the first one out, and then his magby, Molt, followed quickly by his paras, Butch. After those three, his horsea Zing arrived on the scene, and then his gastly, Shimmer of course seemed to appear. They all were out and now looking at each other for the first time at once.
It was an odd interaction since all of them could make their own noise, but Midnight had curled up into a ball on Arthur's lap to start sleeping. The rest of his pokemon tried to sit in the seat beside him, but his horsea was trying to hide behind his back while he was sitting there, "Zing, it's alright, no one is going to hurt you while I'm here," he said to his horsea that was trying to dig into his side, and then it was ghost pokemon that seemed to be riling up his pokemon by scaring them all except Midnight since her antics didn't really effect the normal type. "Zing is my horsea, Midnight is my meowth, Shimmer is my gastly, Molt is my magby, Butch is my paras and Speed is obviously my pidgey," he said having introduced his whole team finally.

Marlaey nodded eagerly, "Oh definitely!"
When a number of pokemon then burst from their pokeballs she beamed at looked around at them all. "Oh wow! Such a variety!" she exclaimed, wishing she could reach out and pet them. But that might be considered just a little rude so she refrained from acting on her impulses. Instead she smiled at Arthur and looked to each of his pokemon. She knew Midnight, Shimmer and Speed now of course, but Butch, Molt, Zing were new to her. She bit her lip when she saw the horsea, immediately falling in love with him. What she wouldn't give...
Nara looked up at the sudden appearance of what appeared to be the zoo. Speed was winking at her, but she withdrew her head, flicking her tail, wary of everyone. The noise must have been disturbing for those in the cafe! Marlaey was really impressed with Arthur's team and wanted to tell him so, she wanted to say what a brilliant job he seemed to be doing with them and how sweet he was towards his horsea! But the words just wouldn't come, he blushed, feeling embarrassed for reasons she couldn't explain.
"Would you like to go back outside? That way you could see some of my pokemon?" she asked quietly.

Arthur nodded to Marlaey noticing that she was blushing in return and wondered what she could be embarrassed about at all since they were just showing off pokemon. Even though, he had to console his horsea quite often as he returned them all to their pokeballs leaving Midnight out so she could rest some more instead of in her pokeball. Cramming her into one had been mean in the first place since she preferred to remain outside of it. Keeping her fur clean was her priority when she was awake that was for sure, but she spent most of the day sleeping either way. Perhaps now he could see what pokemon she used and what he could use as an advantage type against her.
"Well, sure, we can do that, I wouldn't mind seeing your team, come on Midnight," he said as he nudged Midnight to wake up slowly even as she suddenly tumbled off the bench on to her feet. Rubbing her eyes with her paws and letting out the cutest yawn a meowth could. Stretching and arching her back as she kept up with her trainer as they both walked back out into the cold weather. At least now the wet spot on his pants had dried after the many antics of the legendary earlier, but that was long over and done with now at least. Glancing back to make sure Marlaey was following him, but then he held open the door for her as he bowed his head like a gentleman would. It was obvious he did have a nice side to those that treated their pokemon well.

Marlaey watched as Arthur returned all of his Pokémon except Midnight and made his way out the door. Marlaey looked to Nara before getting up and allowing the snake to slither up her arm and nestle herself inside Marlaey's warm coat once more. As she buttoned up her jacket and walked over to the door of the cafe she smiled as Arthur held the door for her and bowed his head in a very gentlemanly fashion. "Thank you very much," she said, laughing lightly before stepping out into the cold. Nara curled more tightly around her trainer as they walked over towards the park.
Once they'd reached a nice area of grass Marlaey threw five pokeballs into the air, releasing the Pokémon she was currently carrying with her. Out burst Little Foot the turtwig, Dovah the charmander, Cooper the meowth, Aurum the Shinx and Harper the Growlithe.
Marlaey beamed down at her Pokémon as they appeared. Aurum immediately looked around fearfully and crept over to her side, staying close to her, his golden fur shimmering as he moved. Marlaey knelt down to stroke him as she watched Little Foot search the snow covered grass for any fresh growth to eat. Dovah stood near his trainer too, his burning tail melting the snow around him. He smiled around at everyone, glad to be in such company. Cooper stretched and yawned before he started his observation of his surroundings. Harper however, bounced around Marlaey before bounding over to Arthur, wagging his tail eagerly.
Marlaey pointed to each of them and told Arthur their names proudly. "What do you think?"

Arthur was seriously considering asking Marlaey out, but he was too shy to even say anything as his meowth Midnight was seeming to understand his feelings at the moment. It just didn't feel right at the moment, and he kept with it for now, deciding to laeve it as just a friendship sort of thing. After all, Arthur really wasn't looking for anything intimate in general, besides that, she was much older than him too. It would have never worked out, and he was sure he could find someone his own age. It wasn't his fault that he was so shallow around strangers, and even beautiful girls like Marlaey weren't much of a threat to his own perseverance. Whatever that had to do with anything, but he examined each of her pokemon. The moment was almost too wrong as the snow around the area seemed to start melting from the sudden warm spell that happened out of nowhere.
Wondering if it was the Rayquaza's effects from earlier that had done it, but he was more or less looking at Marlaey again after nodding to each of her pokemon. Midnight stepped in front of her trainer, and then he knelt down to pet Harper behind the ears for a moment. "Well, I should have known you 'd take great care of your pokemon, after all, I consider you as one of the most exceptional trainers I know, have you heard of Ace academy by any chance?" he asked her, curious if she had or not. After all, he had just recently joined the organization and was hoping for some interesting pokemon from there.

Marlaey smiled as her Pokémon enjoyed the snow and the freedom from their pokeballs. It wasn't very often that they got to spend time all together so she allowed them to stay out for a few moments longer. Nara flicked her tongue, scenting the air, making sure there were no other strange Pokémon about. She was quite a protective snake and now that more of Marlaey's Pokémon were wandering around, she felt a need to keep an eye out for them.
Marlaey blushed further as Arthur complimented her, "Thank you very much! That really means alot", she said, her smile widening. It was a good sign for her that Harper took a liking to Arthur immediately. She trusted her partner's instincts, they'd never let her down before. She was looking forward to a really good relationship with Arthur now, hopefully he felt the same. Reaching down and pulling Aurum up into her arms she felt the shinx cuddle against her, glad of the warmth and safety of her arms. Nara shifted slightly under Marlaey's coat to accommodate this new event.
"Ace Academy? Yes! I have! I've just recently become a member there!" she said excitedly, moving Aurum around so she could reach into her pocket. "I got an Unown from them, but I haven't released him yet.. I haven't exactly been sure how to introduce myself. Unown are sort of like pseudo legendary Pokémon aren't they?" She held out the pokeball, wondering if she were brave enough to let him out now. Was now the right time? What would Arthur think of her if she couldn't control her new Pokémon??

Arthur smiled as he heard Marlaey say that, but he was seriously considering that this friendship was a good thing they had, but he really didn't make much of it. After all, they had just had a cup of coffee over at a diner, and it wasn't anything like a date at all. Feeling no strings attached on this arrangement, and it made him easier to get along with too. Arthur really hated being backed into a corner to talk to someone, otherwise he would have gotten defensive. Slowly, but surely he'd open up bit by bit to Marlaey if she said the right things to him in return.
Well, certainly was a development to know that her growlithe certainly liked him and smiled slightly. Then noticing her shinx he soon raised an eyebrow at it, "Oh my, you have quite the cute shinx, and it's a rare one too, that's amazing if I may say so," he said to Marlaey as he watched the shinx cuddling into her a little more. "Your ekans is rather cute too," he added, wondering if her pokemon were slightly vain or shy at all from such compliments. Even so, he hoped that at least half of them were female so they'd regard that as a compliment. Meh, he didn't mind, but he felt one of his pokeballs shaking. Speed was really wanting out, but he kept him in for now. There was no way he wanted the squawking menace to ruin everything.
Making plays out of thin air and trying to act on them, the last time he let that happen, a whole star wars scene had unfolded before him. "We seem to have a lot in common, or maybe that's just me noticing it, after all, it's obvious we both like pokemon, but who doesn't haha?" he said rather shyly now.

Deciding to keep her unown in it's pokeball for now, Marlaey looked up at arthur, grinning. She really enjoyed his company and hoped that they could meet up often, whether to battle or just hang out, she didn't mind. He made her feel much more at ease now. At his compliments about her pokemon, Marlaey beamed. "Thank you very much! He's a little shy, but we're working on that!", he said, laughing as Aurum buried his face in her neck, embarrassed by such words. Nara flicked her tongue out approvingly at Arthur, she didn't need fancy compliments, but that didn't mean she didn't like them now and again.
Noticing how tight Aurum was clinging to her made her realise how cold it must be for him. Taking out her pokeballs she returned all of her pokemon except Nara, who was far too comfortable to want to move. Harper was reluctant to get inside his pokeball again, this new person was too interesting! But Marlaey only laughed a little and told him there would be plenty of times to play and investigate in the future.
"That's true, everyone I know loves pokemon, but that doesn't mean they know how to handle them! I grew up around pokemon since my father is a Breeder, so I had to learn how to interact with them from a young age. I remember one time his Arcanine got very angry with me when I tried to sleep in the nest with her eggs!", Marlaey said, nostalgia filling her up.

Arthur seemed rather enthused by her showing him her pokemon and only wanetd to learn more about her in general. It wasn't like he had any other reason to pry into her life. Hearing about her father being a breeder, well that was entertaining, but what about Arthur? His parent's just sort of went with everything he did and he had a rather boring, mundane life in general. Just what else could he possibly do to get any more attention from them? Well, leaving had certainly helped and his mother tried calling him every day. That was the point when it got annoying, but he figured she deserved to know just what was going on with his life.
A visit home might be required every so often but he would not hinder his journey just for that one basis, as he was getting ready to finally look at Marlaey with hope-filled eyes. They had met and done things that no ordinary friends would have already. Sharing a drink at a coffee place and even bonding a little more. This was going well, but he figured he should wait a while before asking her out. It was in his mind to do so now, but it was too soon. There were no real -feelings- that he felt at the moment. Pondering on it no longer as he nodded to her, "Yeah, understandable, I don't remember much when I was little, but I do know that a pidgey had hurt it's wing, so I nursed it back to health...then one day it flew away and never came back. I was young and pretty stupid, so I had blamed Team Death for it's disappearance..." he said to her, admitting a rather embarrassing fact about himself.

Marlaey smiled at the kindness Arthur had shown the pidgey, glad that he had shared this memory with her. It was sad that he had blamed Team Death for the little bird's disappearance, but she understood how he might have felt back then. It meant a lot that he was able to talk much more freely with her considering how she had felt a little nervous around him at first. Nara flicked her tongue out absently tasting the air and was surprised to find that her trainer was so happy. The snake purred a little, a trait Marlaey had only ever seen in her own ekans, and settled down to get more comfortable.
A part of Marlaey wished she could keep all of her pokemon out at once, she wanted them all to be with her all of the time! But she knew that wasn't possible. It was a shame though. Looking back to Arthur she grinned, too happy to even speak!

Well, he was enjoying her company a lot too, but it took more than just an old memory to get him talking like he was with her. Arthur was certainly interested, but he was horrible at making moves. Going on a date would just mean he was testing out how compatible they would be with each other, but it also did give him a slight advantage for breeding opportunities with her Pokémon later on. Seeing the cons over the disadvantages right now, there were lots more, than the latter. Thank god for that, but Arthur was always thoughtful even when he wasn't battling. Strategy was a key in everyday life as well, "I really can't say much, but I know the feeling. It just happens and you can't control what you think as a child at times. It all depends on how your parent's raised you, I was raised to not take crap from bullies or anyone like that, as well to just carry on with my dreams, then take down anyone who tries to get in my way," he said calmly, as if it was a matter of fact too. Arthur wasn't one for eggs but suddenly he pulled one out of his shirt as it started to rumble. Then he brought out his magby as he noticed the egg and decided to hold it to make it hatch faster. Yes, this was definitely going to be to his advantage. Deciding to go for the upgraded version of the egg, or perhaps just the level it started out with two extra moves. The decision was up to him so he just decided to go with what would feel right. Nickname: Molt 1/10 (Flame body activated) RANDOM EGGU

Marlaey thought for a moment. How had she been raised. Predominantly she'd been raised to treat pokemon with equal respect to humans and this stood well to her. She loved all of her pokemon dearly and really couldn't imagine life without them now. Marlaey was slightly caught off guard when Arthur produced an egg from under his shirt. IT was so unexpected that she couldn't help but laugh!
"How on earth did I miss that?"
Smiling, she looked down at Arthur's magby as he was released and given the egg to hold. Nara too looked up, her tongue tasting the new scent. <Do you know what's inside?> she asked the magby, curiously.

Arthur decided he was going to try keeping his magby from trying anything funny. "Well, let's just see what comes out of it, I randomly got it, so I don't know what's going to hatch just yet," he said, and his magby basically repeated what his trainer just said. "Also, this is Molt, my magby, Molt say hi to the other pokemon" he said. Molt was more energetic than ever as he held on to the egg and responded in a rather quick fashion. <hi, hi, I'm Molt, pleasure to meet you,> he said to the snake, winking at her...wondering how she'd feel about that.
