Liz had to smile at Abi's words. It was good to know that Hishou was getting along well with other Pokémon. She watched as her opponent hit a button which quickly cleared out the smoke in the room. Relieved to be free of the foul air, she took a deep breath before looking down at the next pokemon: a bulbasaur. She had to grin when she saw him. "Wow! I've never seen a Bulbasaur in real life before." She bent down to make eye contact with the poison-grass type. Your name really suits you- it sounds strong, she said to EarthRoot, smiling. Standing once more, she considered her options for a moment before unclipping a pokeball from her necklace. "This is your first battle with me, Spaki! Good luck!" With that, she released a small Weedle. Spaki curled around once, anticipation shining in her eyes. I am Spaki, former member of the Beedrill tribe, current disciple of Liz Sensei. Prepare yourself! Liz laughed quietly at that name- a habit Spaki had had when she first met the Weedle. "Alright, Spaki! Time to battle! Use Stringshot and then poison sting!" The Weedle reacted immediately. A sticky, web-like strand flew towards the Bulbasaur's legs, quickly followed by Spaki's venom-coated stinger. EarthRoot raised his head proudly and nodded his thanks to Liz for the compliment. Abi grinned, "Neither had I until Earth here came along!"
When Liz released a weedle Abi beamed. She had a weedle of her own! She loved bug pokemon and couldn't wait to have a beedrill. Looking at this little bug she had the feeling that it was going to evolve soon. Hopefully this battle would spur it on! Before she could think further on the subject of bugs and evolution, Spaki had attacked. EarthRoot grunted as the sticky string hit his legs and once Spaki was close using her poison sting he sent a leechseed towards the bug pokemon.

Spaki jumped into the air and did an odd little wiggle, like a worm that someone had poked with a stick. Triumph had caused this odd little happy dance as she saw that her aim was true, both her stinger and sticky string had hit! However, almost as soon as she had fired her stinger, the Bulbasaur had sent a little seed her way! She attempted to dive, but the seed landed on her... tail. Tiny green sprouts burst from it, attaching themselves to her skin. From them, some of her energy was drained.
Knowing the tendrils wouldn't release her for a while, she arched up and fired off another poison sting.

Watching the little weedle wriggle in delight EarthRoot couldn't help but smile. He then felt the energy from his leechseed flow through him and he was thankful for the Bigroot his new trainer had given him. It gave him an extra boost of energy from his opponent. But because he was still all sticky from her string shot, Earth was unable to dodge the next poison sting she fired. He winced as it connected and them leapt into action, growling at her before tackling her as hard as he could.

Once again, the stinger hit. EarthRoot suddenly lunged for the Weedle, a growl rumbling in his throat. Spaki attempted to dive out of the way, but in that instand, the Bulbasaur made contact. With the sharp contrast in their weights, the Weedle was sent flying back. Luckily she managed to twist in midair and landed safely.
Liz couldn't help but shout a small, "Whoo!" as she watched her pokemon land. The Weedle reared up and fired off a string shot/poison sting combo. The threads were aimed slightly higher than her stinger, so they wouldn't get in the way.

Abi was impressed by the weedle's stamina and how she'd managed to land so well after her bulbasaur had attacked. She grinned at Liz, "Maybe your Spaki could teach my own weedle some tricks!"
EarthRoot frowned in concentration and used safeguard to protect himself from the effects of any status moves. This meant that the string shot didn't slow him down! Yay! Running forwards into the painful poison sting he tried to hit Spaki with another tackle attack. His leech seed also afforded him some energy, for which he was grateful.

Liz grinned back at Abi. "Spaki's definitely had some good experience before. This is her first time battling with me, but not her very first fight." As she spoke, she watched EarthRoot as he put up a defense against status moves. Darn, now string shot was rendered useless. Spaki noted the shield against her threads. It was a shame, string shot was pretty good as keeping the Bulbasaur still. As EarthRoot lunged, the Weedle rolled smoothly to the side, evading his attack. Here we go! she shouted. Spaki arched up, aiming at the Bulbasaur's back before shooting her stinger at him once more. At the same time, the thin tendrils from the leech seed took a bit more of her health and energy. "That's pretty cool," Abi said as she watched Liz's weedle dodge her bulbasaur's attack. Well at least the leech seed took away some energy, that was something. EarthRoot held his ground as the poison jab struck him on his bulb. It stung like hell, but it wasn't enough to keep him down. Growling at the little bug he ran forwards, his head down, ready to plough through the poison bug.
Abi stood with her arms folded, admiring how her newest grass type battled.

Liz smirked confidently, proud of Spaki for her skillful dodge. Now if only EarthRoot's safeguard would wear off- then Spaki might be able to poison him.
The Weedle watched as EarthRoot launched himself at her again. Spaki jumped forward too, aiming her stinger at him and firing off another poison sting. As she did, the Bulbasaur made contact, growling loudly. The impact was harsh, and she was sent flying backwards. The bug type landed on her side with a small thud. Shake it off! she encouraged herself, rearing up once more in preparation for the next move.

Abi was indeed impressed with the bug's natural talent at fighting. She wished her own weedle was as capable. But Es was more interested in holding strange rituals that Abi didn't quite understand the point of.
Earth felt Spaki's attack sting his side once more. He closed his eyes and tried to shake off the pain. Then he looked back p at the bug, feeling more energy flow back to him and the twinkle returned to his eyes. He ran forwards, head low once more, aiming to tackle the little thing again. He was lucky he had used Leech Seed so early in the match, and even luckier that he was holding the Big Root!

Her poison sting had worked! The Weedle felt great pride in herself. Watch me, sensei! she thought, determination glinting in her beady bug eyes. If only these annoying tendrils would quit draining her energy! With a sigh, she turned her full attention back onto the Bulbasaur....
...who was now charging and about to run into her! Uh oh... she managed to say, before the poison grass type tackled her head on. The small bug tumbled back. She could feel her bruises ache as she forced herself back onto her feet. Panting, she fired another poison sting.

Yet again another poison sting came his way and Earth gritted his teeth as he felt it jab into his side again. He wanted to win this battle! But it was proving a lot more difficult than he first anticipated.
Turning to face the bug type again he ran in for another tackle attack.

Spaki was beginning to grow bored of her repetitive attacks. Over and over, she fired off another poisoned stinger in hopes of bringing him down or even poisoning the Bulbasaur. For now, she had little choice. His safeguard prevented the Weedle from using an effective form of string shot. All she'd be doing was wasting time and energy.
As EarthRoot charged forward, she also began running. Her many tiny feet pattered against the ground. Suddenly, she skidded to a halt, aching her head and shooting a poison coated projectile. Knowing she had no time to dodge, she drew back in hopes of lessening the blow, and then he hit her.

Another poison sting pierced his skin as he ran towards the weedle. Such an annoying little attack, but it was wearing him down slowly. Taking some energy from his leech seed attack he shook himself and concentrated on hitting Spaki again. Bounding forwards he hoped that he could deal more damage with this move, it was unfortunate how weak it was.
Abi watched as her bulbasaur did his best against the bug type and hoped that he would prevail. Either way, they would both gain experience thankfully.

Spaki could feel herself getting weaker, the annoying leech seed clung to her, sucking out her energy like a parasite. She was being hit again and again with his tackle. It normally wouldn't do much, but when combined with an energy stealing move... Well, she wasn't happy. And her own poison sting was hardly a strong move! Normally the poison effect helped drain her opponents of their health, but this time it had failed her. Nevertheless, she kept attacking. Knowing her trainer was watching carefully, she arched her stinger back and fired another shot towards the poison-grass type. She swayed on her feet, unable to move in time to dodge the Bulbasaur's next attack. He thudded into her. She squealed as her feet left the ground and she tumbled backwards. It seemed he had hit a sensitive spot, as the offended area now ached terribly. EarthRoot felt his safeguard dissolve. He knew he was open to more attacks now, so he would have to be careful. But his opponent was weakening, she wouldn't last much longer. The hope of winning the battle burned brightly in the bulbasaur's chest as he shook himself, ready to finish the match. But Spaki wasn't done yet! She hit him with another poison sting and at last it seemed to have taken an effect. Earth felt the needle sharp barb puncture his tough skin and poison escaped from it into his system.
Abi saw what had happened and knew that she'd have to get her grass type to a Pokémon centre straight after this match.
Moving forward as quickly as he could, Earth aimed a tackle at the weedle before him, hoping to knock her out before the poison had time to weaken him any further.

Spaki glared as her stinger punctured the skin, injecting poison into the Bulbasaur. Rather than relieving her or giving the Weedle a sense of accomplishment, it enraged her. Oh, sure! Now he gets poisoned! she snapped. Though not normally a sore loser, she couldn't help but resent her sour luck. But things like that happened occasionally, the same way she would sometimes get excellent results in battle. That was life, she supposed.
Despite her acceptance of these events, she felt a final rush of determination. I'll give it one last shot! A small grin spread across the Weedle's face. Suddenly a dim glow emitted from the pokemon's body. Liz breathed in sharply at the spectacle before her. Now completely shrouded in light, the bug type's form began to shift, becoming smoother and more like a single body as opposed to multiple sections. When the light faded, a Kakuna stood in Spaki's place.
.....Well, this is odd. Spaki commented, right before the Bulbasaur crashed into her. In her awe, the evolved pokemon had forgotten about the battle. She skidded back a ways, slightly protected by her hardened cocoon but not enough to remain conscious. She attempted to say something to EarthRoot before passing out, but as the first noise left her mouth she collapsed.
Liz immediately pulled out her pokeball and returned the Kakuna. She sighed softly before flashing a grin at Abi. "Great job, you two. I'm glad Spaki got to evolve in this battle." the redhead then turned her attention to the capsule in her hand. "Thanks a lot, Spaki. You did great. And congrats on evolving!" she laughed once before clipping the pokeball onto her necklace and selecting a new one.
"Quick warning, this one's a bit bad tempered." Liz called to Abi. She released the pokemon inside, sending a Shinx onto the field. The lion cub-like pokemon glared around, tail lashing slightly. Alright, what do you need this time? she snapped at her trainer. Liz only sighed a gestured at the battle ground. "Abi and EarthRoot, meet Quil. Quil, Abi and EarthRoot."
What kind of name is EarthRoot? Oh, whatever, just show me whatever pathetic pokemon I'm fighting. Can't be this one, can it? He looks dead on his feet. The young trainer sighed. Would Quil ever be in a good mood?

Abi couldn't help it, she genuinely beamed as the young weedle evolved into a kakuna. "Congratulations Liz! And of course, Spaki!"
Though her bulbasaur had just knocked out the bug type, he smiled and whispered his own congratulations to her before she was returned. Abi's next opponent came with a warning and in the form of a healthy looking shinx. She soon discovered that this pokemon had an attitude, but that was neither here nor there. Taking out two pokeballs, she smiled, "Nice to meet you Quil, and no, this won't be you opponent." she returned EarthRoot, thanking him as she did so and then released her new scyther. Frowning slightly in thought, Abi looked up at Liz, a question on her lips.
"Would you like to make this next match a double battle? More experience for more of our pokemon?" she asked, "We could each just choose one more and then start the battle? It's up to you, I'm still happy with one on one if you are."
Tephrite, the baby scyther, was itching to get started, her wings buzzing and her scythes up.

Liz grinned at that. "Great idea! One moment..." she fingered her pokeballs, wondering which one to send out. A sudden thought struck her, and she seized the chosen pokeball. In a beam of red light, a male zubat appeared in the air, hovering there with strokes of his long wings. He remained silent as he flew in place, silently getting to know his surroundings with echolocation.
Suddenly a wide smirk appeared on the Zubat's mouth. A battle, eh? I'm ready.[/b] His voice was calm, though she knew it would get excited the moment the battle started. Quil only glanced up disdainfully at her new ally, and snorted in anger. What good will a blind pokemon do? she hissed, tail lashing.
You'd be surprised, Lucia said calmly, though there was a hint of a growl in his voice. Liz sighed. "Listen, I need you two to work as a team. Yes, Quil a team. As in help each other out." The Shinx only snorted in irritation, but Lucia let out a low cackle. She really didn't know what that meant.
Liz looked over the Scyther, smiling. The pokemon seemed to be eager to get started, reflecting Liz's own emotions. In a way, the flying-bug type reminded her of Spaki, who was also enthusiastic when it came to fighting.
With both her pokemon chosen, Liz turned her green eyes to Abi in anticipation of the impending battle.

Abi beamed when Liz agreed with her. She watched as the other girl summoned a handsome zubat to the field, wondering who she herself would choose. Taking a pokeball from her pocket she released her dratini. Riill slipped silently over to Tephrite and nudged her affectionately. The scyther blinked in confusion and waved her scythes about, wanting to fight, not cuddle!
"Ok, since we've chosen our new pokemon, let's get started!" Abi grinned excitedly.
She commanded both of her pokemon at once and they each moved forwards to attack. Riill leered at both of their opponents to lower their attack as Tephrite swung her blades around, creating a wave of energy and sending it towards Lucia.
