Rachel blinked in surprise when she heard the trainer yelling at his Pokemon. Curiously, she made her way over to them. She saw that the boy had a Chikorita, just like her. He didn't seem to be very happy with her. Rachel frowned slightly.
"Hello," she slowly said to the boy. She decided on a friendly approach, like him. "I'm Rachel. I see you've got a Chikorita there." She motioned to the Pokemon. "I've got one too. They make great companions."

"I'm Rachel. I see you've got a Chikorita there." She motioned to the Pokémon. "I've got one too. They make great companions."
Kite smiled when he realized that she was mentioning his own Chikorita, his pride and joy, even if he wasn’t so proud of him at the moment. Even better, he found out that he was talking to a new Pokemon Trainer, one that picked the same Pokemon that he did. And his friends said that Chikorita were ‘uncool’ and ‘girly’, which were all obvious lies.
”You do? Can I see it? “ He asked, suddenly feeling very curious about the girl’s Pokemon. Part of this was to see if she had raised hers better than he raised his, and maybe he could even pick up some pointers. Indirectly, of course. It was never cool for a boy to ask a girl for help.
”Chiko chik…” His Chikorita sighed from the sidelines. Not quite happy to see some fresh company after his embarrassing scolding from his trainer. He wasn’t exactly thrilled to be made an even bigger fool in front of another of his kind.

Rachel smiled and nodded. "Sure." She figured Chelsea must be well enough from her most recent battle to come on out. She took out her Pokeball and released her. "Her name's Chelsea," Rachel said. She smiled down at her little Pokemon.
Chelsea looked up at the boy curiously. She then shifted her gaze down and noticed the other Chikorita. Her face immediately brightened. <Hi!> she said happily as she bounded over to him. <Who are you?>

”Chelsea?” He repeated, making sure he got the Pokemon’s name right. He had no problem remembering Rachel’s name, though. He had an Aunt Rachel. The name was just plain common, and forgetting it would make you quite the dunce. The day was still pretty nice out, sun was shining, the wind was chilly, and most of the snow had melted, making traveling around these parts as easy as walking up an ‘up’ escalator. Kite couldn’t help but grin at the possibilities of having a battle with this girl.
<My trainer Kite named me Rocco. You must be Chelsea.> Rocco nodded towards her, slightly shy, and a little bit excited to see another of his kind after so long. His Lab days were an eternity ago, and every minute with his trainer made those days seem like a dream. He couldn’t help but glance at his arms every couple of minutes, there was a cut on his front left leg that made him feel oddly self-conscious. It was funny; he couldn’t remember receiving the scratch, and it didn’t really hurt until he first noticed it.
”Did you have her long? Rocco and me were only out for a couple of days…He’s still the only Pokemon I have on me, so I want to make him extra strong before I catch another Pokemon.” He smiled pleasantly toward Rachel. Slowly leading into a conversation about battling seemed easy enough. He just hoped that Rachel was ready for one.

Rachel smiled and nodded. "That's right. Nice to meet you." Kite... That was a pretty unusual name. She liked it. It seemed to fit him.
Chelsea smiled. <Yes, I am. How's everything going?> She had much energy stored up right now, as could be seen by her edginess and the way she bounced up and down slightly. She was itching to run around and so something.
"I've had Chelsea for a few days," Rachel replied, trying to think back. "I've got one Pokemon with her. It was a pretty tough battle, but she came out victorious int he end." She smiled proudly at her Chikorita, her eyes shining.

<I guess so far so good. Training has become pretty hard, though. All we fight are bug Pokemon…And most of them have tried to make a meal out of me.> He shook his leaf back and forth to make a point, showing off tiny nibble marks from a lone Caterpie and Weedle that he had fought earlier. Her excited, extra happy nature was starting to rub off on him, and he started to feel slightly energetic as well. <So are you a good battler? I think Kite is going to ask your trainer for a battle soon. I know the kid well enough to know that much.> He grinned, feeling rather spunky at the moment. He couldn’t quite imagine the female Chikorita as much of a battler, but he sensed that thinking that could be a mistake.
”We actually lost our first battle…It wasn’t exactly a fair one, since it was against a Pidgey…But we’ve been getting better.” He added, making sure that he wasn’t going to be seen as a total n00b in this girl’s eyes.
”Do you think we could have a battle? It would really help me and Rocco out.” Kite suddenly asked, earning a smile smirk from Rocco. The Chikorita glanced at Chelsea, giving her a ‘told ya so’ look, before turning back to the conversation, since he was involved in what they were talking about.

Chelsea nodded. <Aw, that's too bad.> She frowned when she saw the nibble marks. <Ouch, Looked like those hurt.> She smiled at Rocco's next question. <I'm pretty decent, I'd say. I've fought a scary Spearow and a crazy Pachirisu.> She shook her head at the memories. <Battling is fun though. I really enjoy it.>
"Too bad," Rachel said. "Just keep training." She nodded at Kite's request. "Sure! That sounds fun. What do you think, Chelsea?" She looked down at her Chikorita. Chelsea grinned and jumped up and down a few times. Rachel chuckled. "That's a yes."

"Ehehehe, cool. A Chikorita versus Chikorita match! I got Rocco from the Lab...So I think he should know the same attacks that Chelsea knows...This might be a tough match, Rocco! Let's give it our all!" Kite grinned, giving the Chikorita a thumbs up to help boost his spirits. They had been in a battling slump for the past day or so, so improving was all he could think about. Battling against another trainer was just what he needed to get himself out of this situation, and he could learn a thing or two from her.
"Rocco and I don't mind if you start first. Ladies first." Kite hadn't even asked Rocco or not if he had minded or not, but he easily agreed with him most of the time, and he agreed with him right now. Rocco took a few steps back, to create extra space between them to help prepare for the battle. A not so confident smile on his face suggested that anything could happen in this battle.

Rachel grinned as well. She had never had a Pokemon battle with another trainer before. How exciting! And from the looks of it, Chelsea was pretty pumped up as well. "Alright," Rachel said with a smile. "Chelsea, let's start of with Razor Lead!"
Chelsea smiled and happily leaped back a few paces. She took a deep breath to calm herself down. It was time to get serious. She steadied her breathing as she focused on Rocco. Int he next instant, she shot out her razor sharp leafs, hoping to hit the other Chikorita.

Kite's grin remained plastered on his face, but behind his sunny exterior, he was worried for this battle. Rocco had been in a bad battle slump and although he was hoping this would get them out of that tight spot, he was worried; worried that his companion would no longer respect him if he kept losing battles like this.
He quickly snapped out of his depressed mental state and watched as the first attack came. The battle had offically begun!
"Alright! Rocco! Behind the tree! Then do the same!" he yelled, his fist clenched tightly.
Rocco whiel waiting for the attack, had every muscle in his body tensed, ready to make a dive for it once the attack came. At the first sight of the rotating leaves, he ducked behind the tree. This was an advantage to battling his own kind. He knew what to expect, but that also meant the other pokemon did as well.
The leaves embedded into the tree trunk and the Chikorita hopped out from behind the tree and shot his own bunch of leaves at Chelsea. <Nice attack! Guess I'm too fast for you though!> he said, a playful glint in his eye.

Chelsea hear Kite's command clearly. After she released her leaves, she quickly darted to the side. Two of the sharp leaves glazed across her body. Chelsea tried not to wince in pain. She didn't want to appear weak to another Chikorita.
Rachel nodded in approval at her Pokemon's quick reaction. "Alright, now use Ancientpower!" The attack had always work for them in the past. But now their opponent had the exact same power...
Chelsea spun around and geared up for attack. She already felt her adrenaline rushing. She summed up the energy she would need. Then she tilted forward and aimed the ball of energy right at Rocco. This was fun!

Kite hollered with joy as the attacks somehow harmed the opponent. This was good start! This was just what they needed! Hopping up and down in a very unmanly way, he offered praise to his partner. "Great job Rocco! Just keep it up and you'll be just awesome!" A flicker of movment caught his eye and hearing the trainer issue the command to attack, he belted out his own orders.
"Rocco! Dodge! Then Tackle!"
The Chikorita had been so pleased with the Razor leaf hitting and how he managed to avoid the attack coming at him; he was nearly purring with pleasure. As his trainer's tone changed, he blinked open his eyes and knowing there was an attack coming, but not knowing from where, he took a chance and leaped to the side.
He had leapt away from the attack slightly, but not quickly enough, the ball energy slammed into his side, sending him reeling. He was knocked off his feet and slid across the ground. He recovered with speed and regained his footing to charge at the Chikorita. Tackle!
A low rumbling growl escaped from his throat as he sprinted along the ground, it was followed by a giggle though. Even though that last attack had hurt, he was having quite a bit of fun!

Chelsea smirked when her attack hit Rocco. That would do nicely. They were off to a good start. She instinctively got ready to dodge when she saw the oncoming tackle. But her trainer called out a different command.
"Chelsea, stay there and use Razor Leaf!" Rachel ordered. She knew it was risky to let her Pokemon get hurt that way, but she thought it was worth it to get in a direct attack.
Chelsea wasn't one to disobey orders, even if they didn't make much sense. She took a deep breath and steadied herself. Time to be brave. She stood her ground as Rocco came towards her. At the last second, she she shot her leaves out at him. She winced as she was knocked over by the force of the tackle.

The trainer was grinning with unbashed delight, this was going to be a good attack! As Rocco neared the trainer at a steadily increasing speed, he let out a whoop of joy as the delicate looking grass-type was smashed into by the sprinting Rocco. Oblivious to the pokemon's extreme pain, he cheered with exagerated exuberence.
Meanwhile, the Chikorita, while performing a crushing Tackle attack, he also charged straight into the Razor Leaves, most of them lodging within his chest area leaving him with a supreme amount of lacerations. A strangled moan left him lying on the ground, heaving for breath.
Kite quickly rushed over to his pokemon, at a moments notice, the still figure on the ground and unmatched cheers was enough to make him pause for a moment. Horrified the male, clutched his pokemon to his chest. "Hey. You okay?" he asked, still having no idea what had happened.
Rocco, although in a great deal of pain, refused to give up and with a tight dip of the head, he jumped out of the arms cradling him, stood proudly and faced his opponent. "You go boy. Ancient power! Now!" Kite yelled. The Chikorita gave himself a shake, letting a few dirt particles drift to the ground, before attacking. With a brandishing flip of his head, he summoned a halo of rocks to tumble towards the awaiting opponent pokemon.

Chelsea stood up and shook herself off. That wasn't too bad. She winced when she got a look out her opponent. Ouch. She did a lot of damage. It looked like her trainer knew what she was doing after all.
Rachel waited patiently for Kite to make sure his Pokemon was ok. She knew how it felt to worry like that. She smiled slightly when Rocco looked ready to fight. Ok, time to focus on her own Chikorita. "Use your vines!" she said quickly. "And when you're ready, Tackle!"
Chelsea started running to dodge the rocks. She let out her vines like Rachel told her and started grabbed the rocks she could, tossing them at Rocco. One of the rocks she didn't manage to catch crashed into her, sending her sliding across the ground. She struggled to her feet. The attack seemed to have ceased. She shook her head to clear it before charging at Rocco.

Kite watched in surprise at Rachel's quick thinking; using those vines like that in an attempt to attack and defend at the same time made him want to try something like that too. In this situation though, it seemed like a difficult thing to try. Several rocks of Rocco's own attack was already being thrown back at him. In his critical state, an attack like that could easily knock him out. He glanced back at Chelsea, injured from their own Ancient Power. They had more health to spare in this fight. 'Rocco...I-I'm sorry. He looked at his own Chikorita, who was prepared to dodge anything he saw coming.
Rocco had weakly hopped to the right, dodging the first of the few rocks he launched at his fellow Chikorita. Panting, weak, blood oozing out of his Razor Leaf wounds made him appear weaker than he truly was. He still had the energy! He knew he did! With a grunt, he eyed Chelsea's attack hesitantly. He didn't think he could actually dodge a speeding train...But he could attack her first! <Kite!> He cried, stomping his foot impatiently. He couldn't wait for an order forever!
"Rocco...Return." He sigher, bright red Pokeball in hand pointed directly at the Chikorita. He turned to him as if to say: 'WTF' at Kite before being sucked inside, barely dodging Chelsea's Tackle attack. "Sorry. Rocco needs to go to a Pokémon Center right away. If he faints, I'm in trouble...Well, bye!" Kite cried with a wave of his hand, running off.
Chelsea gains a level

Chelsea immediately skidded to a stop when Kite called his Pokemon back. She spared a glance at Rocco. He didn't seem to like that too much. But he did] seem to be pretty hurt. Maybe he had had enough. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
Rachel nodded at Kite. "I understand. See you later." She watched Kite run off. She could sympathize with his situation. She would have done the same if it was Chelsea in his place. She turned to her Chikorita and grinned. "Great job, Chels!"
Chelsea smiled and jumped up and down. <That was so fun!> She rather liked Rocco. She hoped she would see him again sometime.
Rachel chuckled softly. "Alright, now why don't you take a rest?" She took out Chelsea's Pokeball and quickly returned her. She then set off back down the path, wondering what was in store for her.

::paras::
A wild Paras scuttled around the ground, peering through the sheltered houses that were labeled “bushes” by humans. His beady eyes shifted around nervously, as if he thought that someone was out to get him, before walking sideways like a crab to the next bush. He lived in fear all his life. That little habit of looking both ways before going out into the open was never going to change. As he walked, two skinny mushrooms loomed over his back. He wasn’t exactly the healthiest of Paras’s. Even if you used a Pokedex, and glanced at the picture in that one, you could see the difference in size. He simply wasn’t healthy.
Wanna know why?
<Achoo!> He sneezed, when his own mushroom’s stun spore fluttered down on him. It was a shame. Having those mushrooms meant having a constant spray of glittery orange and purple powder spray down on him. It was a bad side effect from his Effect Spore ability. He was slightly special though. Because his mushrooms were so weak, the chances of giving his opponent a status effect went up from 30% to 40%. It was a double edged sword, since he was so weak, he wouldn’t be able to take many attacks anyway. Still. In Route One, he looked like a fun opponent to fight.

As Rachel's eyes scanned the ground ahead, she spotted the Paras. She stopped walking to look at it curiously. It was certainly like no Paras she had ever seen. He looked really sick. He probably wouldn't be too hard to beat. Rachel wasn't sure she wanted to catch the Pokemon, but this looked like a good chance to train one of her own.
Rachel took out June's Pokeball. She figured this was a nice chance to get her to a high enough level to evolve. "Come on out, June," she said. The Caterpie appeared with a flash of white light. "Use String Shot on that Paras!"
June smiled up at her trainer. She had had a nice rest after almost being eaten by a Sparrow. It felt good to stretch her body. She turned towards the other bug Pokemon. It didn't look like it'd be that difficult of a battle. June inched forward a little before spraying the Paras with her sticky web.

Sensing a disturbance in the air, the Paras cautiously glances around, always wary about what might happen. His eyes had met with the Caterpie's, watching her stretch her cute little body had nearly made him blush. He was never good with girl's! Before he could scuttle away in embarrassment, the Caterpie had lassoed him in with a String Shot. This sticky goop was like a spider's web, super strong, and extra sticky! It wasn't something easily cut off.
He found that out soon enough once he started working on an escape plan. Using his Scratch attack to cut through some of the string, he was able to move, but his speed was lowered. He nervously hissed at June, warning her to back off.
