Rachel's eyes lit up in understanding. Ah, this Taillow wanted to battle! Electric Pokemon are good against flying types, she thought. Without thinking about the consequences, she took out Charlatan's Pokeball and released the Pachirisu. "Charlatan, use Bide!"
Charlatan blinked as she looked at the Taillow. She had just finished healing from her battle with Rachel. Now she wanted her to battle again? Please. But she realized she needed to defend herself against this other Pokemon. One little Bide wouldn't hurt...

Although this Taillow had been watching the Route trainers for the past few days, he had not encountered this before. The Pokémon did nothing to defend itself, it simply sat there. Nothing visual indicated anything odd was going on.
The navy bird was slightly confuzzled, but after staring at the Pachirisu and the trainer shrugged and decided the Pokémon must be a rebel.
The Tailloe knew it should attack quickly, so the Pokémon wouldn't be expecting it. To be honest though, she was nervous. This was her first real battle and she was growing unsure. Practing with fellow wild Pokémon didn't count. There was no chance of being captured and stuck listening to your master forever.
Summoning up her courage, she decided to go ahead with her attack and after yet another pause, she was off. Soaring into the air, she took a breather and dive bombed the Pachrisu with a Peck attack.
Taillow Attacks! Taillow uses Peck!

Charlatan braced herself as the peck hit her. It hurt quite a bit, but she knew it'd be worth it. She'd only need to endure one more attack. She couldn't help but glance back at her trainer angrily. She would have preferred to start off strong with a Quick Attack. The only reason she used Bide first with her battle against Chelsea was because the Chikorita had her vines around her! Charlatan put in a low Growl for good measure.
Rachel had no way of knowing if her Pokemon had obeyed her. She could only assume that she had. She surly would have dodged the Taillow's Peck attack if she hadn't used Bide, wouldn't she? She rolled her eyes at the Pachirisu's glare. Well, she'd just have to get used to someone else being in charge. She couldn't have it her way all the time. Rachel sighed and waited to see what the bird Pokemon would do.

She was starting to feel nervous watching the Pachirisu stand there and take all of her attacks, and without having a clue as to why the squirrel would rebel in such a way. Being a tree dweller herself, she felt a kinship with any other forest native Pokemon she met. She couldn’t possibly harbor any bad feelings to this Pokemon, because she asked to have a battle. Fluttering down onto the ground, and staring at Charlatan with hesitant eyes, her weary expression gave away her suspicions. She just couldn’t understand that this was an actual attack. With a sigh, she felt like she could take her time now. Her wings were raised into the air in a threatening manner, using a Focus Energy to build up her confidence.
<Hopefully, you’ll be able to fight now…Or else you might get really hurt…> She muttered under her breath, worried that she might be overdoing her attacks. She didn’t mind holding back a bit, in an act of pity towards the Pachirisu. Something that any trainer would want their opponent to do whenever using the Bide technique.
She stayed on the ground, with her wings stretched out like a child pretending to be an airplane, her beak glowing with a strong energy. With her Focus Energy’s critical hit rate boosted, she’d have an easier time landing attacks on the Pachirisu’s weak points. Her eyes narrowed in concentration as she charged forward, sensing that the very center of his stomach would be a good place to strike. With a great cry, she closed her eyes and let out the best Peck she could muster.

Charlatan watched the Taillow with dead set eyes, waiting for her next move. Oh, I know it will hurt, she thought. But you'll be really feeling the pain soon. She knew she had to hold on just a bit longer. She braced herself for the Taillow's attack. When she hit, she clenched her teeth together to stop herself from screaming. That bird really knew how to hit!
But now it was her turn! <You asked for it,> she growled. The Pachirisu finally let the Bide attack go. She sent back the force of both Peck attacks plus more right at the Taillow. She was still panting hard when she finally stopped, but a small smirk was on her lips.
Rachel sighed in relief. For a minute she almost thought Charlatan was going to disobey her. Her survival instincts must be stronger than her dislike for her trainer. She wouldn't be too hard to handle. Now, that Meowth was a different story.

Heh. The Taillow was lucky that her Peck attacks weren’t very effective against the Pachirisu. Flying type moves were never that strong against an Electric type. Not that she knew that. It was her first battle against a Trainer’s Pokémon; she still had a lot to learn if she ever wanted this to become a hobby. The charged up bide attack had turned into a mini explosion; the white glow of light had momentarily stunned her in mid-air, before becoming engulfed in the Bide attack. Her limp blue body was thrown against the ground, covering her in mud, and staining her feathers with grass.
<Ohhhh...my head…> She moaned, resting a slop covered wing against her head to block out the pestering rays of sun that escaped through the tree branches above her. She had passed out quickly after that.

Charlatan nodded in satisfaction. She sure showed her. She turned and stalked over to an area near a bush to sit down. That was almost too easy. Maybe Rachel did know what she was doing after all. The Pachirisu shrugged. Time would tell.
Rachel grinned. "Nice job!" she called to her Pokemon. Charlatan feebly raised her paw in response. That was about as much as Rachel expected from her. Now for the wild Pokemon. She quickly took out a Pokeball from her bag. She aimed and threw it at the Taillow.

Rachel lightly walked over to where the Pokeball lay. She smiled as she picked it up. She clipped the ball onto her belt before turning back to Charlatan. "Great job, again." The Pachirisu turned and flicked her tail. Rachel shrugged. Oh well. She quickly returned her to her Pokeball. She was soon on the road again. It wasn't long until she reached the end of the route. Rachel walked into the city.
((I'm finished here.))
