"Try to dodge, Ta-kuun!"
Too late, the Normal-type was hit head-on, his body to crash full blast into an elm tree behind him. This resulted him to fainting, losing the battle.
Ophelia turned toward the fainted teddiursa, taking a pokeball from her belt and returning him. She spoke lightly, "Good job, Ta-kuuun. I'm proud of you."
The fifteen year old smiled and headed towards Taku, eyes gleaming happily, "Great battle!"

Taku watched as Ophelia returned her Teddiursa to its Pokeball. He couldn't help but feel a little bad about hitting the feisty little thing so hard...
He looked down, watching as Cyndaquil waddled up to him, "Great job," he praised, petting the fire type on the head.
"Cynda!" the Pokemon replied happily.
Taku lifted him onto his head as he walked up to Ophelia, "Sorry about Ta-kun... I didn't mean to knock him out. I guess I just got carried away..."

"No, no. It's fine. It is a Pokémon battle, anyways, right?" She replied happily, eyes glittering like sapphires. Ophelia Summers blinked, clipping Ta-kun's pokeball right now place.
"So, you're a new trainer also, right?" The cheerful girl moved her bangs out of her eyes, slightly giggling.

Taku grinned, scratching the back of his neck.
"Yeah, I'm actually from Olivine City in the Johto region. I came here to start my own Pokemon adventure. I'd always wanted to, but back at home it was sort of a hass-" Taku stopped.
"Ummm, well, anyway. What about you? I could tell you're a newbie as well. The way that Teddiursa disobeyed at first." Taku joked.

Ophelia nodded, "I'm from Saffron City in Kanto myself. It's rather.. dull there." She playfully rolled her eyes as he spoke again. "Actually, yeah, I am. I just got my first pokemon today.. as you may have noticed." She giggled and straightened out her black dress once more, eyebrow raised.
"You're pretty good for a beginner."

OOC: Cyberwrist, you must have the link to your PC in your siggy. Its in the rules.
PS. The winner of that battle gains 2 levels, and the loser gains 1 level.
BIC:
::NIDORANM:: ::VENONAT::
As the two trainers innocently talked about their battle experience, they were unaware of the other things going on around them. The things that one couldn’t see or hear, because they were hidden away in an underground burrow, where life where you wouldn’t think exists in the deep blackness. This vision as even darker for the one that actually lived inside of that burrow, having been peacefully snoozing through the useless hours of daylight, because the nightlife was where the real action was.
A Venonat had been having a most peculiar dream, where it was able to fly through the night sky with the wings of a dragon. Other Pokemon were both awe-struck and afraid of him, making him one of the most well known Pokemon around. But of course that was just a dream. And reality came pounding into him like a drill into the head, forcing him in that direction until he woke up.
<Hey dead beat, wakeup. This is my home.> A Nidoran Male had been pecking at him for quite some time, getting even more upset over the pesky bug for acting like he wasn’t guilty.
<What are you talking about? Get out of MY burrow.> He argued back, flipping back onto his feet to send a menacing glare at the Nidoran. If that wasn’t enough, he shot out a Supersonic to send him screaming and running terrified out of the bushes, almost running into the trainers when he instead looped right around their legs.
<He’s still screaming? Ugh, now I can’t sleep.> He grumbled, deciding to put an end to this like normal Pokémon did. Without feuding like a bunch of barbaric beasts, but it was a little spooky to see a stranger walk into his home. He was very well justified in that attack. Though the sunlight seemed to attack him from everywhere, he soon followed the panicking Nidoran’s footsteps and sighed at the scene. He was mumbling on the ground like an idiot, and guess what? Two trainers had found him, which made him easy to capture.

It took a few minutes before Ophelia realized she had simply encountered two rather petite pokemon, one Nidoran that had rushed for protected behind her, and a disgruntled Venonat.
"Well.. huh." The beginning trainer said, her feminine lips forming into a cheerful grin. "Taku, look at these little guys.." She poked a petite finger towards the bug type, who didn't seem quite happy, and giggled lightly under her breath.
"Now your chance!" She nudged him playfully, pushing down her dress delicately so.. well, nothing was visible to his eye or any other trainer. Violet eyes glinted with hues of jubilation and delight. I've made a friend!

Taku grinned, "No, no, no. This is your's too. Here."
Taku pulled his backpack off and pulled out a potion, handing it to Ophelia.
"Go ahead, use that on Ta-kun." he said.
The amateur trainer then smiled turning to the male Nidoran with a devilish smirk, "I'll take this little guy."
"Cyndaquil!" Taku called, the fire type readying itself for battle, "Let's catch our first Pokémon!"
"Quil!" the Pokémon shouted excitedly.
Taku pointed his finger towards the poison type, "Use Tackle, now!"

Ophelia nodded, obliged. "Thanks!" She released the fainted Ta-Kun from his ball in a bright, red flash and sprayed him lightly with the potion. Slowly, but yes surely, the teddiursa awoke grumpily. The female trainer frowned, hoping he'd battle for her this time.
But alas, the normal type jumped from her arms to the ground in utter excitement. Apparently, he wants to kick some ass. The sun's rays beamed down, making Ta-Kun's claws glint. A growl rumbled in his throat; for he was ready.
"Okay, and I have the purple fuzzy thing!" Ophelia announced, her pigtails bouncing as she jumped up in delight. "Now, Ta-kuuunn, use Scratch directly on!" The teddiursa growled in reply, nodding in his head, as he flashed his claws and raced towards the Venonat, hoping to succeed.

Since the Nidoran was still bewildered, the poor pokemon still wasn't aware of the two trainers, nonetheless, the incoming attack from the fire type foe. Being in such a bad state of mind, the effects of the Tackle Attack caused even more damage upon the Nidoran. <Hey, what's going on?> The Pokemon questioned out loud as he felt upon getting knocked backwards unto the ground. He still had no idea of what was going on around him, nor did he have enough sense to fight back.
<See, that's what you get, that should teach you not to mess up a good dream!> The purple fuzzy pokemon shouted over at the now struggling Nidoran. The Venonat was having so much fun shouting, and laughing at the Nidoran, that it didn't even noticed the attacking bear cub coming his way with keen claws. <Ouch!> He finally wailed out in pain and shock, as he felt the burning sensation of Taku's claws strape his fuzzy body. <Okay, now I'm pissed out forreal!> The Venonat growled, glaring at the Teddiursa with fire burning through his big, round eyes. A few seconds had passed, and the Venonat had began running towards Taku with his own Tackle!

As the Nidoran was reeling from the last strike, Cyndaquil readied itself for another attack.
Oddly, the small poison type wasn't really reacting to the attack. It had connected, rather hard even, but the clueless little thing was so bewildered by the blow it hadn't even begun to mobilize to defend itself.
Taku would take this oppertunity.
"Cyndaquil, use Smokescreen!" he demanded.
"Quil, Quil!" the fire mouse responded, opening its maw and unleashing a steady stream of smog from his belly.

Ophelia watched at the bewildered pokemon then turned her attention to the Venonat, whom was aiming to tackle Ta-kun.
"Ta-kuunn, dodge!" She called quickly; although she was too late. The bug type had easily managed to knock the wind out of her teddiursa. "Are you okay?" In reply, Ta-kun got to his paws and nodded with pride.
"Alright then, use scratch.. again!" She ordered, smiling lightly. Ta-kun let out a, "Teddi! Teddiursa!" And then raced towards the pokemon once more, attempting to rake his claws against his.. erm.. fuzz.

The billowing smoke that was shot straight out of the Cyndaquil’s mouth did quite a number on the Nidoran. It was hot, dry, and pitch black. There was no way he could see through such a cloud of smoke. Trembling in his place, the Nidoran’s confusion only seemed to heighten with his lack of sight. Fear started to creep into his mind, and the need to protect himself was overwhelming. His horn was his only weapon, and he planned to use that to the best of his ability. Jabs with his Peckattack were sent wildly at nothing but the cloud’s thick air.
It wouldn’t be a wise idea to get in close for a direct attack. But in all of that smoke, how could you even see the Nidoran? The Venonat’s eyes seemed to let out a small snicker, finding the staggering sight of the Teddiursa an amusing sight. Normally it wouldn’t be, since this was an adorable little bear we’re talking about, but this one seemed different. Mature. Cocky. And in a rather annoying way, that made you want to pull your hair out one by one.
<You think you can keep up with me? Fine. Tag, you’re it.> The Venonat had a wild look in its eyes by now, and started rushing toward the Smokescreen. Leaping right in it, with the shelter of the darkness behind it. But that wasn’t all it did. Right as it landed, it activated it’s Foresight ability, giving it the ability to see through this blasted smoke.

As the Venonat decided to play a game, Ophelia began to grow anxious. She wasn't sure where the bug pokemon was, and it was sure that Ta-kun couldn't rely on his speed and agility. But suddenly, a faint idea struck into her mind.
"Use Fake Tears!" She insisted. Although the teddiursa was a proud pokemon, he obviously wanted to win this match; so, with a low growl, tears started rolling from his face. And he loudly began to cry, hoping the wild pokemon would fall for it.

Taku's brow narrowed at the inconvenience. Though he had effectively psyched out his foe, he's also lost sight of it in the smog.
"Cynda..." Cyndaquil grunted, turning to Taku for advice on their next attack.
The amateur trainer had to think hard, but he didn't have too much time to contemplate. He could wait for the smoke to blow away, but waiting could allow the Nidoran to escape. He could have Cyndaquil charge in there with a Tackle, but, by the sound of the Pokemon in the smoke, he was attacking wildly and viciously at all fronts. That would be a dangerous move for Cyndaquil to attack head on...
An idea sparked in his head.
"Cyndaquil! Leap into the air over the Smokescreen and come down atop him with a Tackle!" Taku said, pointing to the sky.
Cyndaquil complied, leaping into the air above the smog and free falling into the cloud head first.

For the Nidoran attacking at nothing but black smoke, there was nothing he could do to even predict the Cyndaquil’s next move. To make matters worse, he was getting kind of tired too. All of those Peck attacks were taking a toll on him, and his muscles were practically screaming at him to stop overworking them. He finally complied, giving himself enough time to snap out of whatever confusion status he might’ve had. It was a shame that he couldn’t fight in such a good mental state for long, because soon after that, he received a blunt Tackle to the head. The angle that the Cyndaquil landed on narrowly avoided landing right on his horn, which could’ve been very painful.
The force of the attack forced him to collapse onto the ground, the weight of the Cyndaquil pinning him on the ground. There was a good thing about this though, because two of his abilities activated. Rivarly boosted his attack power, and Poison Point started to kick in. Physical attacks now would be rather risky. While this was good and dandy, he was still stuck under fire-butt’s weight. He did have a plan though. He gathered his energy together, packing it up inside of his horn with intense concentration. Focus Energy could at least calm him down, long enough to strike when the Cyndaquil’s guard was down. As soon as that pesky fire type was off of him, he was going to throw a Peck attack right at its legs
Though the Venonat didn’t want to see what was coming for it, but it didn’t have much of a choice. Those tears, an endless spray of tears had caught it off guard from inside of the smoke. It felt for the little bear cub, and had its Special Defense lowered, just like anyone else that was watching the scene. The Venonat was a little hesitant though; this was the same bear, with a suddenly different attitude. It was hard to accept. It kept up its guard, only slowly hopping out of the smoke covered cloud, nervously watching the Teddiursa.

Ophelia grinned for her planned at worked. Her eyes flashed with excitement as she ordered, "Scratch, hurry!" Ta-kun got to his paws in an instant, racing towards the wild Pokémon with his claws ready to strike. If he were to hit, he'd do so continuously.
The female trainer narrowed her eyes to Taku, whom seemed to be doing pretty good. Better then her anyways. He's probably a better trainer.. She thought with a tiny frown.

Taku was relieved that his strategy worked, it was risky after all. He'd forgotten how dangerous it was to come down atop of the small poison type do to its sharp horn. Luck was on his side, this time... However, it seemed that Cyndaquil's last attack had finally knocked some sense into the Nidoran and it was more than ready to fight back. With Rivalry boosting attack and Poison Point threatening the health of his young fire type, Taku'd have to take less physical approach to finishing this battle up.
He thought of Ophelia and her Teddiursa. Ta-kun had used Fake Tears to put Venonat off its guard and it had worked from what he saw. That gave him an idea.
He snapped his fingers, "Cyndaquil, use Leer!"
The fire mouse complied, jumping off the small rabbit-like Pokemon and opening its normally closed eyes with a menacing and discomforting glare. Taku hoped that it would displace the Nidoran again into a helpless state where he could, possibly, catch his first Pokemon.

As the Cydnaquil jumped off Nidoran, he began to think he was home free. After all, this was the chance he'd been waiting for. He closed his eyes quickly in preparation for the attack he'd been planning, but opened them to a devastating Leer from the fire-rat. The Nidoran let out a short squeal that indicated his fear and slightly lowered physical defense before continuing with his attack. Gathering what remained of his courage and strength, he aimed a Peck attack at the feet of the now defensless Cyndaquil.
The Venonat wasn't too suprised when the bear pokemon came out of it's crying fit with a strong Scratch, but there was something in the timing of it that made Venonats reflexes slow. For some reason, there was no way it could dodge. The Scratch hit it's mark and the sharpened claws racked through it body. It tried to wriggle free with little success. As a last ditch effort, he shot a Supersonic in the direction of the attacking Teddiursa, not knowing if it would do any lasting damage to this quickly ending battle.

While the Leer did its job, Taku knew that there was no way Cyndaquil could avoid a blow. The small Nidoran had mustered the last of its strength and, with all that pent up, unused energy, it was a doozy. The superpowred Peck had hit its mark, striking Cyndaquil in the right leg.
"Cynda!" the small fire mouse cried out.
"Cyndaquil!" Taku blurted worriedly.
However, this was his chance, the Nidoran's defense was down and it was weakened. Taku decided to risk it. He pulled an empty Pokeball from his belt and tossed it at the downed Nidoran.
"Go, Pokeball!"
