pokebeach.com/kensugimori/pokemon/standard sugimori images. I used a few gradients that I downloaded/and some that i made. I mostly just had a ball blending textures and random brushes until it looked cool. I was just testing them out, and slapped a few pokemon on top for good measure.

Yours doesn't suck. :3 It's cool. It's really not hard. All I'm doing is blending textures other people have made as a background and slapping sugimori art on top. Hence why I don't really care if people use these and don't credit me. I didn't really do anything except combine them. All it takes is a little playing around with photoshop. five minutes in photoshop. maybe even less. layer one blending mode: normal opacity: 100% fill: 100% layer two blending mode: multiply opacity: 60% fill: 100% layer three blending mode: overlay opacity: 100% fill: 55% layer four: blending mode: normal opacity: 100% fill: 50% layer five: blending mode: screen opacity: 77% fill: 100% paste jolteon. duplicate layer. bottom jolteon layer -> filter -> blur -> gaussian blur -> radius 2.5 pixels top jolteon layer -> blending mode: overlay. play with the brightness/contrast on the blurred jolteon until it looks right. sometimes it'll end up being super light and you'll have to turn down the lightness and up the contrast. Or sometimes it'll be super dark, and you'll have to turn up the lightness and down the contrast. Just play with it until you like it. i flipped jolteon since i wanted it facing the right for some reason. -shrugs- play around with fill, opacity and color until you get something you like. (: there are a lot of neat textures on deviantart and livejournal.

Ohhh so thats how you got the background! I was sitting there trying to create my own with brushes and gradients and stuff >< I can photomanipulate and draw and stuff... but when it comes to making textured spiffy things XD Thats not my strong point

That's how I got these particular backgrounds. (: Most of the time I just use brushes and stuff, but like I said in the first post I was just testing stuff out. Here's one I made without using any textures, just brushes. it's really all about colors, layering stuff (even brushes; multiply/screen/color dodge/color burn/soft light/hard light are your friends) and doing what you like. (:
