Benjamin Holt had just received his first pokemon -- a female Snubbull who he'd decided to call 'Tally' -- and was finally starting off on his adventure. Tally was trotting along in front of him, sniffing everything that moved, and it was, in general, looking to be the start of a nice day.
"Hey, there. I'm going to call you Tally; you'll be different from any other Snubbull, alright? Uh. I'm Holt. But... I suppose you only say your name."
Tally turned to look at her new trainer. "Snubb."
"Um. Right. Well, you're my first pokemon, and... I feel a little weird just, you know, talking to you. It's almost like I'm just talking to myself."
Tally nodded, something of a smirk playing across her face, and bounded forward. Snubbull, Holt thought, was a good pokemon for him. His neighbors had had one -- quite the well-behaved pokemon, unless threatened. Holt knew that Granbulls were quite powerful, as well, and their intimidating appearance was something he could appreciate.
Tally had stopped walking, and Holt reached down to give her a pat on the head -- when she turned and promptly bit him. "Hey! That's not cool. I provide you with food, protection from humans and... uh, strategies. I'll heal you, too, but we have to work as a team."
"Snubbull."
"I have no idea what you're saying, but... I would like to be your partner, okay? This is a new experience for me, too, and it'll probably go a lot smoother if we get along."
The Snubbull looked up at him, yawned, and continued down the first route. "I can call you back into this pokeball, you know!" "Snubbull snubble..." "Don't mock me!"
And so they continued, bickering, on the first leg of their adventure.

Spring, finally was around, and this was the time for some Pokémon to real get burst of energy. Yet the sound of trainer and Pokémon bickering made one, very angry. Its blue body hidden bet the grass-hair on its head blending in with the plants growing around it. Then it jumped out into the path, running up to the group, "Oddish.. Odd!" It screaming then speaking more to the Snubbull, <Stop it.. Stop!> It kept yelling, its hair bouncing and then turned and darted back down the path.
It was not dumb enough to risk being taken by a trainer, oh no! "Oddish! Oddish!" It yelled as it ran off.
Another Pokémon stand still, eyes closed, mouth open. Giving it a appearance of a yellow flower. It opened one eye and looked at the group, "Bells...prout?" It was rather lazy by its own tone, and it closed its eyes again. Swaying back and forth, slowly.
Pokemon Appeared!

Holt, who did not speak pokemon (and therefore did not understand the Oddish's cry), was very confused by the whole thing. To him, you see, the Oddish -- yelling quite louldy -- had bounded into the path, and, just as soon as it had appeared, it retreated back to the taller grass.
How... odd.
Tally, on the other hand, understood perfectly well, and, with a snarl, told the pokemon what she thought of it. "Snubb, snubbull snubb... Snubbull." <No, I'll not stop anything... My trainer's a moron.>
And, of course, if Holt understood pokespeech, that would have earned her a trip back into her pokeball. However, we've already established that he doesn't, and, well... Here she is.
"Um. You wanna' try a battle, then?" That's what wild pokemon were for, basically, right? At least, that's how trainers leveled up their new pokemon. That's what his sister had been telling him about...
"... Ice Fang." Holt was starting to like the idea of being a trainer. It would be a challenge, yes, but he loved a good challenge. And maybe, if they got good enough, he'd take Tally back to his hometown and show her off to his parents...
His train of though, however, was broken by the fact that Tally had decided to, instead, use charm. And here he was, stuck with a pink puppy pokemon that was blowing kisses... at a flower. Yes... A lovely start indeed.

The Bellsprout opened its eyes slowly, only to see the a dog pokemon blowing kisses. Its head tilted, "Bellsprout?" which would only mean, <Huh?> The flower was rather dull minded. He felt an odd feeling rush over him, his tiny heart pounding in the thin line of his body. Then tiny hearts popped into the air, floating slightly. Then it took a step, and another, its rooted feet lifted up part of the earth with it. Its leaf arms wiggled.
It moved forward to attempt to give the pink dog a hug.
Then the Oddish showed up again, and it bounced over to the Bellsprout yelling more, "Odd oddish! Oddi!" It yelled this for moments at a time, <No dont! Trap!> but the Bellsprout looked as if it was under a spell.
The Oddish had to take contol of this. The leafy hair at the top of Oddish's head parted slightly and a small lights lifted out, it attempted to absorb some of the Snubbull's energy. "Oddish!" It yelled well the Bellsprout still tried to come in for a hug, <Take that!>

As the absorb attack hit Tally, the Snubbull whined and lept back (both in reaction to the Oddish's attack and the Bellsprout's advances) -- then turned to scowl at Holt as though it was his fault. (Which it sort of was, considering he'd brought them to the route in the first place.)
"Well? Attack! Try using Fire Fang."
Holt frowned, wondering if she'd listen to him this time. After some thought, the Snubbull shook her head and bounced forward, jaws open. Rather than a fire attack, however, she was attempting her first command, Ice Fang. The air around her open maw chilled a little -- it was hardly as drastic as Holt had hoped -- though he could see what looked like a little frost collecting on her nose, and she lunged at the Oddish.
Well, at least she'd sort of listened.

The Bellsprout was being bashful from the sidelines, very affected by Tally’s charm attack. Though he hadn’t been under the Attract status, he had developed quite the crush on the fairy Pokémon. Something about those slender, seductive eyes had him go wild on the inside. Blushing like crazy, and too infatuated to do anything to save his darling Snubbull, he admired her battling from afar.
The Oddish was meanwhile troubled with the Super Effective Ice Fang, her frost stained teeth had given ((I’ll assume it’s a female. I hate calling things an “it”.))her a nasty nip on the side. She yelped in pain, feeling a freezing sensation creep up around her body.
Too startled to make a single attack, she found herself suffering from a flinch condition. Her frightened eyes were staring right at the Snubbull’s dull expression, making her quicken her breaths. If she could run away from this scary female, she definitely would’ve been long gone right now. Let the Bellsprout defend himself! He was a fool! As much as she wanted to believe her own thoughts, she found herself silently worrying about his own safety.

"Alright -- that wasn't so hard, was it? Use Ice Fang again, while Oddish is still flinching."
Tally, however, did not want to use Ice Fang again (that would be boring, wouldn't it?), and decided to... Well, not do much of anything. She'd forgotten (mostly) about the Bellsprout, and, since neither of them were attacking, the Snubbull didn't exactly feel like wasting her energy.
Holt, who'd been watching the Bellsprout out of the corner of his eye -- did it have a crush on his pokemon? (Or, slightly worse, would the walking flower decide to follow him and his pink puppy? Because Holt didn't think he'd like that all too much) -- failed to see, right away, that his pokemon was doing nothing.
When he finally returned his attention to the 'battle', he found Tally, sitting happily near a patch of flowers -- certainly not attacking the Oddish... Who was going to stop flinching any minute now.
"Oh, come on! How about Fire Fang?"
And, once again, she ignored him.
"Tackle."
The last command was issued just a little more assertively, but, by some miracle, Tally listened. She rose and, with a little snarl, darted towards her opponent in a full-body tackle attack.

Feeling slightly more secure with battling against a fierce Pokemon such as Tally, the Oddish began to wise up once she realized that Tally wasn’t even that interested in fighting. The trainer seemed like a jerk, just because he kept trying to push his own Pokemon to fight against her. With each phrase that came out of his mouth, she cringed, expecting the Snubbull to react with her raging fangs of fire.
That is until she saw the Snubbull relaxing in the flowers. With a stubborn snort, the Oddish had enough of this. Nothing personal against the Snubbull, but she wasn’t really liking the lack of respect from this “fairy”. During this “Let’s-Ignore-The-Trainer” phase, she started waving her long leaves around in a battle dance. Her Sweet Scent was spreading across the field, only to be interrupted by a short and abrupt Tackle to the ground.
<Owww.> She groaned mostly to herself, having enough willpower to get right back up with her fighter’s face on. Faking an expression of anger, as a bluff, she started to unleash a stronger Absorb than before, but it had the same wimpy attack strength as before. But she was desperate for a taste of life. She wanted this attack to hit. She felt miserable from that previous Ice Fang; she doubted she could take any more of those.

The Snubbull winced as yet another absorb sapped her of her strength -- dang it, that hurt! With a snarl, and no help from her trainer, she tried a new attack: Fire Fang.
Holt, of course, was about to give Tally his ideas as to what sort of strategy they might be using -- he wasn't to fond of the 'attack head on until someone loses' one they were currently going with -- when he saw that she'd decided to attack. He raised an eyebrow (and tried not to get irritated) and wondered why the little creature wouldn't listen to him. He hoped it was because she was new to the trainer-pokemon "relationship", because he didn't think he could wander around the whole bloody region with a pokemon that didn't listen to him. (Especially when that pokemon happened to be his starter.)
A few embers had gathered around Tally's maw (at this point, she decided she liked Ice Fang better) and she snapped at the Oddish once more. The attack was with less energy than before, as she was getting tired and that last absorb had really hit her hard.
Holt, watching as his Snubbull attacked, wondered if he should try and capture this Oddish. It would probably help to have another pokemon, but he really couldn't see himself with a walking... whatever that pokemon was. (He knew it evolved into a flower, and that really didn't sit well with his manliness.) He wondered if he could catch the Bellsprout...

The fierce flames wrapped themselves around the Oddish’s sensitive leaves before the attack actually impacted her. It spread quickly as the fangs sunk into her body, making her let out a loud and annoying screech of pain. It died out as quickly as the attack had ended, with little bits of flame still burning at the very tip of her leaves. Her body remained motionless on the ground, save for her mouth that ever so gently opened up to let out the tiniest of a gasp.
Tally gains a level.
The Bellsprout seemed to have taken a liking to the Snubbull, and wavered on over to her side in a creepy manner. With his two leaf like appendages, he attempted to grasp her paws to congratulate her with the sincerest of smiles. <That was amazing, ever so grand! I hope you know, that you now have a fan.> He winked at her in a flirtatious manner, hoping to woo her with lame poetry that he came up with at the top of his head.
