Ah- that familiar feel of a new journey again! Well, she had never really been on one before, but as close as you could be; a criminal. However, in this new region, she had promised herself and vowed she would not become a member of the infamous 'Team Death' she had heard about that ruled this region. It was much bigger than her old home, so she would like just be a petty member even if she did join- get a few extra bucks here and there, get some good reputation going or something like that.
Fox toyed the Pokeball she was holding in her hand, looking it over. A quick flashback came to mind- one of when she first met her old Absol. Well, she hadn't been hers, but warmed up the most to her than any other member of Team Shadow or anybody outside. The defiant nature of her stuck out, and Fox smiled as she remembered. Well, better meet my new partner, she finally decided. She pressed the center button on the Pokeball, and her Torchic slowly materialized in front of her. Aww- he was so cute! She had to admit to that much, at the very least.
The Torchic ruffled its feathers and blinked at the sudden light. It gazed around, its large, round eyes finally settling on Fox. +Oh! So, you must be my, uh... trainer, right?+
it asked, the voice definitely male. "Yes, I am. It's nice to meet you," Fox said. The Torchic took a few awkward steps toward his new trainer, then paused, leaning forward. +So, where's the battle?+ he asked, beginning to rock on his claws and heel of his feet, getting taller and shorter each time he did so. "Well, I was hoping that we'd meet each other before we found one, that way it won't be so weird when you fight your first battle, if that's what it comes down to," Fox said. The Torchic stopped rocking, and nodded as if he understood. A falling leaf caught his attention and he scampered over to it. +Why do leaves fall off of trees?+ he asked, jumping high into the air to grab it in his small beak. He munched on it, but immediately spat it out. "Well, it's because they die during the colder months, for one. Another reason, like in the summer, could be because something else caused it to fall. Like another Pokemon or something frolicking on a branch," Fox explained. +Oh... alright. Well, let's go, then!+ the Torchic said enthusiastically, scampering up ahead at a quick pace- quite fast for one so young. Fox had to run to catch up, and kept on a borderline between a fast jog and a run to keep up with her new ball of energy. After a few minutes of running, the Torchic decided he had run enough for the time being. "You know," Fox said, catching her breath, surprised he wasn't the slightest bit out of breath from that. "I was thinking of a name for you. What would you think of Ignacio? Iggy or Ig for short?" she asked. The Torchic paused for a moment, then turned around. +Ignacio... Iggy... I like it!+ he said cheerfully. Well, that was a relief. Fox didn't want to know what he would have done if he wouldn't have like it and he would've gotten mad. Though, from what she knew of him so far, he didn't seem the type to get mad over much of anything. No- he was too energetic to even get mad. Something that she didn't have to tame; she was relieved at that. "Well, Iggy, let's see if we can find something to toughen you up a bit, or at least get you some first-hand experience in battling," Fox said with a smile. Iggy made his feathers more poofy-looking for a while to show his enthusiasm, and stuck by Fox as they began walking, looking for any sign of a possible challenger, opponent, or friend. A Budew is happily dancing along patches of wild flowers, each of a different, vibrant color. Holding a purple one in his mouth, the Budew spiraled around until he landed against the soft blanket of flowers, gazing up at the big blue sky. It seemed so big and vast compared to the world he saw down here. For some reason, he wished he could fly up there. At least once in his life, he would like to try it.

Fox watched as a Budew happily danced amongst the flowers. Ah- it was good to see happy Pokemon. Looking at the huge patches of wildflowers, it made her wonder how many different kinds there were. +Hey, look at that! It's actually pretty cute,+
Iggy said, bringing Fox from her thoughts. Fox had to agree with that- Budew were pretty cute. She approached slowly, and with caution, in case it was the kind that was jumpy or attacked on first sight. The second one seemed highly unlikely, but... she still followed her instincts. Once she was a good distance from the Budew, she stopped, Iggy doing the same. "Hello, there, Budew. You've got a pretty flower with you there," she said with a smile. She wondered what it was thinking about, gazing up into the sky like that. Iggy, being curious, went farther than Fox. +Wha'tcha thinkin' about?+ he asked, sitting a couple feet down from the Budew.

The Budew welcomed the Torchic with a bold greeting, a mighty chirp that was muffled from the flower in his mouth. Finding it easier to speak without such a thing, he spit it out in front of him as his smile beamed up at this friendly Pokemon. After a lonely day all by himself, it was refreshing to have some company around. His squinty eyes recognized the human nearby, having seen the species around his home tons of times in the past. <Why are you talking to me like I’m a kid?> He asked, even though he clearly was a kid.
Thinking back to a couple seconds earlier, the Budew mulled the Torchic’s question over. What was he thinking about again? These newcomers had distracted him. He nervously glanced up at the sky as if a clue would appear in the shape of a cloud. <Oh…I remember now. I was thinking how cool it would be to fly. You’re a bird. Isn’t it fun flying?> He asked curiously at the Torchic, not realizing that it wasn’t possible for the fire type to take to the skies like a Moltres.

The Torchic gave a chirp of interest as the Budew attempted speaking with the flower in his mouth. It was a bit smarter to speak without a flower in your mouth though, as most would be able to figure out. He wondered if this Budew had ever seen a human before? Fox was taken aback by the Budew's words. "Ah... sorry. It's hard to tell the age of Pokemon just by first glance..." she said, feeling a bit embarrassed. Of course, the Budew didn't seem like he was that old, and didn't sound like it, either. But, she didn't say anything else, and let Iggy get to know the Budew.
Iggy sighed, unhappy that he couldn't tell the Budew about flying. +Well, honestly, I'm a flightless bird. I have feathers, yes, but I can't fly. Like Doduo and Delibird,+
Iggy said. He felt comfortable around the Budew, and had no intentions of battling unless the Budew wanted to, for whatever reason. It was better to make friends than enemies.

<Wow. So there are birds that don't actually fly?> He was very surprised by this, as you could tell. After all, he had thought that all birds could fly. He thought back. Oh, he thought. Perhaps this bird was right. After all, he had only seen a few types of birds. And the Torchic should know, right? Because he was a bird, after all. You should know what you can do or what you can't do, is what he thought. He knew what he could do.
<That's cool. I still wish I could fly though. I could get so close to the sun...> He started off into a comfortable silence, which he liked. He loved the sun; it was so warm, and it definitely helped him grow. There was nothing better that the sun that could help him, the rain was cold, and although he grew, it didn't make him feel good like the sun did.
He shivered. <You're a fire type, aren't you? Can you make fires?> He was back to his inquinsitive self again, wondering why in the world if you were a fire type you wouldn't make fire at any time. If he was a fire type, he'd have a fire going all the time! Sweet warmness... well, unless the fire was too close. Then he'd get burned, and he would not feel nearly as good.
<But really, do you? Can you?> He waited patiently for the answer. He quite liked this little bird, and he was really very nice. And small, like him.

+Yep. And, unluckily, I'm one of them,+
Iggy said with disappointment. Well, this Budew obviously hadn't gotten out to see much of the world to not know that. Of course, it's not like every kind of Pokemon was found on this one route though, of course. If you had lived only a short time and only knew of a few types of Pokemon, you would make assumptions like that, too. Iggy wondered how to explain that the sun, in reality, was billions of miles away. Ah, well, best not to mention that much. +The sun is the best thing that could ever exist. It would be great, getting even a little closer to it,+ Iggy agreed with a smile. The rain was definitely not the best, but wasn't the worst. Completely being submerged into water- now that would be a nightmare. Rain would eventually stop, and the sun would come out, making everything dry and nice... Iggy sighed at the question. It was pitiful, really, being a fire-type and not being able to produce fire until you were stronger. +Yes, I'm a fire-type. But, pitifully, I cannot make fire. Not yet. It's like that with most Pokemon. If you are a fire-type, it takes some experience to be able to create fire. If you are a water-type, it takes a while to be able to produce water, and the same with grass-types and some electric-types,+ he said. Well, if he was pitiful, there sure were a lot of others like him. Iggy was warming up- no pun intended- to this Budew. He was quite the questioner, and was pretty friendly. Trying to make friends sure did pay off, he thought with a calm aura around him. +Though I can't produce fire yet, I'm still really warm all the time, and get warmer every day,+ he added. <Really, you don't need to feel sad about that,> he said, smiling a bit. <You're so lucky that you're warm all the time.> He sighed. <I really pretty much rely on the sun totally to grow and become better.>
The sun was his food source, he could only live off of that. How good it must feel, to be warm and cozy for a long period of time, even when the sun was not out. But of course, he was a grass type, and grass types weren't very good at staying warm. Well, if the sun was out, but that was a different matter...
<Wait... I can do an attack! A grass attack!> He jumped around, excited. <Oh. Can't remember what it's called. I think it's something close to Ab something. Absorb! Yes, absorb. I can absorb energy. Kinda like from the sun, you know?> It was a new thing to him. Oh, so he used energy from the sun... he kind of absorbed things! Energy! Maybe it worked on Pokémon? It probably did. Or maybe not?
<Do you think it'd work on Pokémon?> He asked. He was truly wondering whether it did; because he had never used it. The Budew was still quite young, and there was nothing that he had really tried. All he had ever done was see Pokémon use attacks, and had never used them himself.
Small Pokémon were nice, he told himself. They were like him. Usually, he had to converse with adult Pokemon, and they all thought he was unable to think or something. That was a problem, but with this Pokémon (since he was probably young to get along with him, most of his family said he questioned too much) it was actually fun and comfortable! He had to tell himself to stay quiet and that the Torchic would think he was weird if he was to jump out of the blue and say "You're fun and comfortable to be around!" That was one said thing...

+Oh, well, I guess it's a good thing. Especially when it's cold out- I can warm those around me, too, if need be. When the sun is out it makes me warmer- and, if I knew any fire-type attacks, it would increase their power,+
Iggy said. It made him wonder what only being warm during the day, or when the sun was out, was like. Of course, he'd never know that feeling, since he was a Fire-type, but... one could only imagine. +Absorb? Ah, yes. That works in battles, for when you fight other Pokemon. You can Absorb their energy, make them weaker, while restoring your own energy,+ Iggy said. Wow. He felt like the wise old man here- he knew a lot of Pokemon, but definitely not as much as his trainer did. There might come a question that would stump him, and he'd have to ask, but for now, he was doing good. Fox began writing down some notes in a small journal. Day One, it read. Got my starter Pokemon; a Torchic. He's quite curious, and already he's made a good friend- a young Budew that asks a lot of questions. The Budew is quite cute, and the two make a good duo. she jotted down, before putting it away. She hoped that Iggy could perhaps, eventually, convince the Budew to join their team; preferably non-violently.

<Wow! You're really smart!> He looked at the Torchic in wonder. So fire-types were smart, and they could be warm all day. He was kind of starting to feel sorry for himself; why couldn't he stay warm for a long period of time? It just wasn't fair...
Wait. What was that human doing over there? He had seen some, but only one or two. <Who's that girl over there?> he asked. Why was she writing in a pad of... something? And why had she been looking at them? <Oh! I forgot! What's your name? I know you're a Torchic, but what's your name?> He was ashamed of himself; who started a conversation like that without knowing the name of the other person? Of course, only him, a young Budew who knew almost nothing, would do that. Sigh.
<You're a trainer's Pokemon? Are you? You travel around, right?> Or, at least that's what he had heard from the other Pokemon who had actually battled another Pokemon. It was interesting, and traveling the world could be fun. Well, that is, if you had the right companion. Without a friend, that could end disastrously. What if your trainer didn't like you? Trained you too hard? Without a friend, no one could vent out...?
Wait. Why was he thinking this? It wasn't as if he was going to leave. The forest was his home. Even though it would be cool to travel, it wasn't as if he would. <Traveling must be fun!> he remarked, grinning. <Where have you been? It doesn't matter, really. You've definitely been to more places than me; and know more, too.>
Torchic's were nice, he concluded.

+Well, I'm not that smart, really... I'm just a little older and have been around more than some other Pokemon,+
Iggy said, not wanting to sound like he knew it all. In fact, there were other Pokemon, such as Alakazam, that knew everything and then some. But, that was mainly because they were psychic. But still... it would be amazing to talk to one of them, he thought. Iggy waited a bit for the Budew to finish speaking. He was glad he had- as he would answer all the questions at once now. +That is my trainer, Fox. Yes, I'm a trainer's Pokemon. We will travel around, definitely,+ he answered brightly. +And my name is Ignacio. But, Iggy or Ig for short,+ he added. Ah, well- it was great to have this nice, long conversation. Perhaps it would compensate for not battling- after all, he didn't want to fight this inquisitive young Budew. He knew how to fight, but the Budew likely wasn't very experienced, if at all. +It is quite fun, or so I've heard. This is the first route for all trainers and their starter Pokemon. We will continue on through this route, and to the next, go to Gym's and get badges... and eventually, I hope to evolve into a Combusken! And, then into a Blaziken...+ Iggy said dreamily. Blaziken were definitely the coolest Pokemon ever... right up next to Alakazam, that is. That was definitely his life-long dream- become a Blaziken! I would be so strong then, and know so much more than I do now, Iggy thought. +Say, you could travel with us! You could get to see other forests, meet new friends, and see new Pokemon you've never seen before!+ Iggy said excitedly. +Besides... it's kind of lonely when you're the only Pokemon on a team,+ he whispered. +Not that Fox isn't interesting, it's just... odd, talking only to your trainer. It would be great to have another friend,+ he said with a smile.

The Budew thought for a moment. <Yes, being a Blaziken must be awesome!> He had seen one before, on a TV somewhere near a big white building. (that's the lab, peoples! >>) It looked really powerful, and hot! Hot! Hot! Okay. Nevermind. But still, it had beat a lot of Pokemon, and it was really cool-looking! If Iggy evolved into that... that would be really, really, really cool. Too bad he couldn't. He had only seen the second evolution of himself, and that was Roselia. He wasn't sure what his third evolution was...
<Well, I could, maybe...> he thought for a moment. It would be nice to travel with Iggy, and he said that Fox - the trainer girl - was kind of nice. And wouldn't it be nice to talk to someone his age? Yes, it would, most definitely. So, yes. Yes. He would.
<I... I'd like to go, but... uh, could I...> He swallowed. <Could I meet Fox? She doesn't understand us though, right? I just want to see... um, if she's nice, you know? To Pokemon?> He stuttered again, being afraid of what the reaction to his wanting to get to know Fox before joining them would be.
Maybe he wouldn't be in trouble?
{Sorry, I just couldn't really think of much. ><;}

+Well, I wouldn't know, but... I hope I'll find out. It would be great to have others witness it, too,+
he said, spacing off to think about being a Blaziken. Warming up Fox on cold nights, making a fire to cook food on... oh, what fun that would be! And... the Budew evolved into Roselia. And then... what else did they evolve into? Didn't they require a stone of some sort for their final evoluvtion? It was 'Rose' something... Roseray? No... Roseay? No... Gah! What was it? Roserade his conscience told him. Oh, duh... Iggy thought, embarrassed at his own thoughts. The Budew's voice brought him back to reality. +That would be great!+ Iggy said excitedly, warm heat emanating from his body in waves to prove that he was genuinely thrilled at the idea of the Budew joining the team. Iggy listened to the Budew's request and cave a few chuckles. +Meet her? Sure you can! Man, I must be rude... not even introducing you to her. And, actually, she does understand us. Not ever trainer or human can, but she can,+ Iggy said. He then got up and scampered over to Fox. "How's your new friend, Ig?" Fox asked, rubbing the side of Iggy's cheek, making him move his head in that direction, liking that feeling. +It's... going... good. Very good. He wants to meet you,+ he said, forcing himself to pull away from the relaxing feeling. "Really? Well, alright," she said, putting her journal-like thing away in her pack as she got to her feet and slowly walked over to where the Budew sat. +This is Fox, my trainer! For the short amount of time I've been with her, she's been nice to me, and I'm sure that won't chance,+ Iggy said. "Hello there, Budew. It's good to finally meet Iggy's new friend," she said, sitting down slowly, hoping she wouldn't scare the Budew off just by her appearance. She was much bigger than most young and un-evolved Pokemon, and sometimes, to a younger one, it could be frightening. ((No problem! It was fine, Umbreon! ))

<I... ah... cool!> The Budew stuttered looking at the size of the human, and sweatdropped. Wow, she was so big compared to him!
Where're your manners? he told himself. <Ah... hi! Nice to meet you, too! Uh, Fox!> He glared in his head. Could he not say the right things? Because obviously, this could be his future trainer! It wouldn't do any good if his future trainer thought he was stupid, would it? No, definitely not. Who would like a Pokemon like that?
<So, uh, you're Iggy's friend, right? Trainer?> Grr... why couldn't he say anything right? He hoped that the trainer could still like him. <You're gonna travel, that's cool...> He stopped there.
(one awkward silence later...)
<Uh, can I go with you on your journey?> He waited nervously for the trainer - ah, no, Fox's - response.

Fox smiled at the Budew, still having to gaze diagonally downward to see him. She felt kind of... awkward, talking to a wild Budew. But... she had been through much weirder things- that much was for sure. Fox listened to the rest of what the Budew had to say before replying.
"Well, do you have a name?" she asked politely- it would be good to know the Budew's name, if he had one, instead of just calling him 'Budew', as there were probably thousands of Budew around this region. "Yes, I'm Iggy's Trainer. We only just met, and I think we're bonding pretty well. It helps that I've worked with Pokémon before I came here, though. If I had no idea what I was doing, this wouldn't be as... easy, I don't think," she said. She paused, thinking up what to say in response to his question. "I would love it if you would join us! It would be great to have a Budew on the team, and someone for Iggy to talk to." She unhitched a red-and-white sphere from her belt and held it out for the Budew to see. "If you do come with us, you'll have to go in here for a little while. I can't say that you will or won't like it- it's different with each Pokémon. But, if you end up not liking it..." +You'll never have to go back in it again!+
Iggy finished the sentence for her, hopping up and down. ((Eww. Dead muse, sorry...))

The Budew wrung her roots together as the trainer spoke to her, obviously not too fazed by the awkwardness. This was good, the Budew noted, for he could be an awkward compainion at times. Returning the smile, he answered the trainer's question.
<Well, my mom named me Bud...> he muttered, wrinkling up his face in distaste. <However, I didn't like it so I changed my name to Lucerne. My friend told me it means life. You can call me Luke for short if you wish.> he added, before shrugging. <A new name wouldn't bother me either.>
The Budew paused for moment, trying to imagine what it would be like to be a trainer, having to tend for many pokemon and travel all around the region. <Being a trainer sounds hard... but rewarding.> he commented, one of his moments of deep thought.
The Budew gazed at the pokeball with slight apprehension, fear stiffening up the pokemon's limbs. <Uhm. > he muttered, uneasy. <If you say so.> he said, before charging towards the ball with a battle cry. He collided with the bicolored orb and a red light sucked him in with ease.
The ball shuddered for a moment but was then still. Congrats! You have caught Budew! ::budew:: Name: Lucerne or Luke [you can change] Gender: ::male:: Ability:{Natural Cure & Poison Point} Level: 7 Attacks: Absorb, Growth, Water Sport
A loud squeal of pain echoed throughout the forest. Many birds took flight assuming the sound was one of a victim. They paid no heed to the cries for help, knowing the chance of the attacked pokemon living was nil. They focused on their self preservation, and flew away, not losing any sleep over this.
If you choose to investigate, you will find a few hundred yards away, a Taillow viciously attacking a limp form on the ground. The cries have been muted, and it seems the pokemon has either fall unconcious or already met their untimely fate.
Help the unknown pokemon? ::Taillow:: is attacking ?.

+Alright! We got a new team member, Fox! I can't wait to train with him!+
Iggy said excitedly, hopping up and down. "Yes, we did- and I think I will keep his name. I like it," Fox said, attaching Luke's PokeBall to her belt. She thought about what he had said- yes, being a trainer was definitely hard at most times, and in the end it was rewarding. A loud squeal made Fox jump and Iggy whirl around. +That doesn't sound good. Let's go, let's go!+ Iggy said, hurrying off. Fox didn't protest- she wanted to find out as much as Iggy did what had made that pitiful noise. "Hey, get away from that!" Fox said once she was close enough to the Tailow. "Ignacio, use a Peck!" she said, glaring at the Tailow. Ignacio didn't protest, and ran at the Tailow, ready for a Peck to attempt to scare it off and find out what it had been attacking. If it came to an actual fight, so be it, but scaring off the Tailow would be much easier.

OOC: The Evil angel to the rescue! ;D BIC: The Taillow looked at the Trainer, and dragged the unkown pokemon out. It was a Buizel, and she didnt look good. A little blood was oozing out of her left front paw and her fur was ruffed and dirty with dirt, dust, and the Taillow's pecks. She looked at the trainer and whimpered <Help..me...please> Then She fainted from the Taillow's pecks. The Taillow was hit by the peck though and it fell down. <Hey! Your gonna pay!> The Taillow cawed angerily. He rose up in the air and flew down at the Torchic, his beak glowing with Peck. Taillow is attacking! Buizel has fainted, do you wish to capture it?

"Alright, nobody likes a bully..." Fox mumbled. Now, she had been a criminal in her past, but she didn't pick on the weak in her free time, or even on assignments. No- she was a thief, and had never hurt anyone physically on purpose, if at all. This was just something she wouldn't go for. Not one bit. She took a Pokeball from her belt, looking at the Buizel with great sympathy. "Alright, I'll save you more trouble. I'll avenge you, don't you worry..." she muttered, tossing a Pokeball at the fallen Buizel. She then turned her attention back to the Taillow. +I'm not paying anything! If anyone pays anything, you'll be the one!+
Iggy said angrily, glaring at the Taillow, awaiting an order from Fox. "Alright, Iggy. Let's show this Taillow we mean business! Retaliate with a Peck of your own!" she said forcefully. Iggy obeyed and leapt forward, his beak also glowing, ready to make impact with his own Peck attack. He would help that poor Buizel... that had been just... cruel.
