Jay skipped down teh path, her blond hair flowing in the gentle breeze. She smiled with her green eyes and her pink lips. Her orange scarf, though it was very warm, flapped in the wind. She slowed to a walk and stayed along side the pond. She sighed and sat down by the water's edge. dipping her finger into the water, Jay closed her eyes and started to hum. After a second of humming, she fell back against the ground and laid there, she still had her eyes closed. The golden sun softly kissed her pale cheeks.

A sweet voice rang out from the water's surface, a melody to a song that seemed to be familiar to all of the Pokémon in the area. Smaller Pokémon especially, for once they heard that sweet voice, they would wave over to the lake with cheerful smiles before returning to the bushes. What was on the pond? All that seemed to exist was the water, and the lillypads that rested near the center of the pond. Except for one, that was moving closer and closer to the surface. A hidden body under the giant leaf that was meant to camouflage it in its environment. It was a she, actually. Her eyes sparkled with the light of the new day, and hopefully full of new adventures. She slowly crawled to the soft grass, tilting her giant leaf to empty the pools of water that had gathered up top. <What is this? A person?> She questioned to herself, the sight of Jay 'sleeping' on the grass made herself feel a little more at ease. It would've been rude to interrupt, but she couldn't help but stare at the uncommon sight. Not that many trainers came by here, usually people went straight for the bridge.

Jay continued to hum while her eyes were kept closed. She rolled over and played with the grass. Not noticing the pokemon that was coming towards her. She sat up and opened her eyes, only to see the lotad coming towards her. "Oh," She sweetly smiled. "Hello," Her voice was soft and kind; the type of voice that sounded like a musical instrament. Jay reached her hand out and held her palm up. "I won't hurt you." She sang. Interested in this pokemon, Jay wanted to see what it was.

The Lotad's eyes became filled with surprise and her face quickly became flushed with a pink tint. Not expecting to be noticed so soon, and that she had been wrong in her assumptions.
<I...Um...Hi?> She stammered out upon hearing Jay's voice, but couldn't help but wonder if the girl could understand her. If that was the case, then there was no need to speak. She eyed Jay's hand curiously, but couldn't help but frown upon it.
<I don't think that would convince anyone of anything.> She sweat dropped, but took Jay's word for it that she wasn't going to injure her in anyway.

Jay was surprised at the Lotad, but smiled. "Right," She withdrew her hand and looked at the pokemon. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you, I promise. Unless you attack me." She told is softly. her bright green eyes were very soft and kind. She sat up and watched to see what the pokemon would do. "Um... What are you?" She asked. Jay had never seen something like this one before.
(Oh, blug!!!!)

The Lotad giggled at Jay's statement, finding this girl to naturally say funny things was helping the Grass/Water type warm up to Jay faster than before. Giving a louder giggle than before, she tried to stifle them up to seem polite.
<I'm a Lotad...And no offense, but you don't look like you could attack me. You look like skin and bones.> Though she didn't know what people looked like in general, from what she saw of Jay, there wasn't much fat on the gal.

Smiling, Jay rolled her eyes. "I could attack you." She stated. "Maybe." Jay could, but why try right now? She personaly didn't want to. "Lotad?" She asked. "Never seen one of you before." Shrugging, she started to pick at the grass. "So do you live around here?" She asked the water/grass type. Looking up, she glanced around, where could it live?

Giggling at Jay's reaction, the Lotad didn't actually believe that the girl was capable of hurting anyone right now. She didn't pressure the subject, however. For who wanted to get into a fight? Only stupid people/Pokemon, from her experiences. Or territorial ones, and she certainly was not one of those. In fact, it was her hobby to help Pokémon cross the giant lake. Smaller ones, at least. When one had small feet, that bridge would take weeks to cross, and no Pokémon could survive that long on there without food.
<Thats because we hide by day, and at night come out as a Superhero. Scaling the tree's and fighting evil.> She joked, showing off her friendly nature as she slowly realized that the girl had never seen one of her kind before.
<Um, seriously...We just live on ponds. You probably just didn't notice because we blend in so well. Just picture me on a pond, and all you would see if this big ol' leaf.> She explained, waddling around to show off her leafy lillypad. As heavy as it looked, she was quite mobile for a Pokémon her size.

Jay smiled. "Like a Superhero?" She giggled. "Sweet," Glancing at the pond she understood. "Oh, you're the lillypads!" She nodded. "I see now, that's why I never see any of you around, you're always under the water." She was liking this pokemon more and more, it was funny and Jay LOVED to laugh. Jay folded her arms and sighed. It was a nice day, and Jay really needed to get a move on, but she really didn't want to, she just wanted to sit and do nothing, let the sun warm her heart.

Feeling good about herself at her success at making another laugh, the Lotad felt a burst of happiness inside of her. Stopping with her tiny giggles, the Lotad looked at Jay with an observant face. The sudden change of attitude hinted that the girl was worrying about something, but it would seem rude to ask a total stranger about personal feelings and thoughts.
<So, do you live around here? > She asked, wishing that she did. Yet the chances of that were low, for it was much more common to see Pokemon trainer's that were passing through. Maybe wishing for a battle or two, before heading on to the next city.

Jay sighed. "No, I live far from here, I was just passing by, and thought it might be good to rest and get to know a few pokemon before leaving." She frowned. "But oh well." She gave a half-hearted chuckle. "I'll have t leave soon, but I think I'll stay and rest fo a mintue, then get on the trail." She looked up at te sun, then the water, and back at the Lotad. "Do you see many trainers around here?" She asked her.

The Lotad brightened up upon hearing the question, beginning to get extra excited like a child in a classroom. The only one in the room that knew the answer, and feeling rather proud of herself, she exclaimed while trying to pounce on the girls arm playfully.
<Oh, yes! Plenty of them, they never stop coming. This is a popular route for people, so its like a daily occurence. > She giggled at this, before quieting down a bit. Somewhere in the bushes, she saw an anxious face that seemed to be calling for her attention. A small Rattata was looking at her, and then at Jay with a confused expression.
<Looks like I have to get to work. > She sighed wsitfully, wanting to stay with the girl but couldn't. It was a natural job for a Lotad to act as a ferry service to wild Pokemon, and it appeared that the Rattata was just too shy to come over because of Jay's precense.
<Don't worry about her, I'll carry you across the pond if you like!> She shouted, not noticing the dark look that crossed the Rattata's face. Arrogant to the bone, the normal type strided over to the Lotad with a sinister look, before tackling her to the ground.
"Lotad!" She cried, as she fell to the ground with surprise in her face. What was going on?
<I don't need any blasted help, fool.> It hissed, showing off its large fangs before turning around to growl threats at the human girl. Just daring her to try and attack it back.

Jay laughed and let the Lotad jump into her arms. "Really? I've only seen one trainer." She smiled. "Lot's of them?" Jay grinned down at the Lotad and couldn't help but feel her day getting better. She nodded as she saw the other pokemon and let the Lotad out of her arms. "That's alright." Her eyes sparkled, this was a very kind pokemon that cared about the others in her area. Jay watched as the Rattata attacked the Lotad. "Hey!" Jay jumped to her feet, a pokeball in her hand. "You can't do that!!" She threw the pokeball down and a Sandshrew jumped out. "Dasy, Scratch!" Jay commanded. She was very upset that her new friend had been attacked, it wasn't very nice to attack someone who was helping them.

Though the Rattata had sensed that Jay was a Pokemon trainer, it hadn't any knowledge of the kind of Pokemon she pocessed. It could be anything, from its own experience. Thankfully it wasn't something too big, Dasy had to be a few inches taller than it. Nothing it wasn't used to, it thought as the claws raked the surface of its purple coat.
Feeling a darker aura haunting it, the Rattata inwardly smiled. Now would be a good time to use one of its favorite attacks, one it had been itching to try out. Using the black energy that was building up inside it, it tried to ram into the Sandshrew with Pursuit. It was very confident that the attack would strike, because of how close the two were to each other from the last Scratch move. It would certainly be a mesy situation if the move missed.

Jay glared at the rat pokemon. "Hey!!!" She balled her hands into fists and shook her head. Dasy was alarmed as Jay cried. Crying out as the Rattata hit her with its attack. +Oh!+ Dasy growled. She shot daggers as she preformed her attack. "Rapid Spin!" Jay snapped. Dasy smiled, one of her personal favorites. +With pleasure.+ She growled, spinning... rapidly.

Returning the nasty look that Dasy gave it with one of its own, the two seemed to be having a stand off until Jay burst in with an attack order. The Rattata gave tiny smile on its face at the name of the attack, it seemed basic enough. Thinking that it could dodge the attack, the rat Pokemon jumped out of the way with a swift leap, its long tail trailing behind it like a ribbon.
A ribbon that suddenly got trapped and pulled under the Sandshrews power, that is. Yelping out in pain from all of Dasy's weight pressing down on one of the Rattata's most sensitive areas, it turned around with a spiteful glance, its eyes swelling up with tears from the sudden pain. Since Rapid Spin was different from Rollout, the attack was still taking damage off of the Rattata, and it knew that it had to act quickly.
Quickly it was, with a swift u-turn with its tail still trapped from the opposing Pokemon, it covered the short distance between the two with a Tackle. Its eyes closed tightly as it tried to prepare itself for a painful encounter with the spinning body.

Dasy wasn't ready for the Tackle. It knocked her Rapid Spin off. She growled and tried to recover herself. "Dasy," Jay called. "Try and trick it, try Tackle or Poison Sting." Jay walked over to the Lotad and made sure it was alright and wasn't too hurt. Dasy jumped at the Rattata, making as if she were going to tackle, then let out a Poison Sting. She tried to Poison the Rattata, making it slower in some way. Dasy wasn't the best fighter, and had no idea why she was chosen to battle.

<Get off me!> The Rattata wailed, bucking in a wild behavior in hopes of making Dasy lose her balance. Unfortunately the rat Pokémon was pinned down by the Poison Sting Attack. <Curse you!> It snapped as it felt some poison rush through it's body.

In her stroke of luck, Dasy had managed to hit the Rattata with the Poison Sting. She smiled and waited for her next attack to be commanded. "Ok Dasy, now Scratch." Jay called. Dasy smiled, a good attack. She was close to the Rattata so it would be easier to hit it. She slashed out at the pokemon with her sharp claws.

Shaking off the tiny bits of Poison from the previous attack, the Rattata gave a grunt of acknoledgement to the charging Sandshrew, those tiny claws suddenly appearing as a dangerous threat to the Rattata. Its eyes seemed to close as it listened keenly with its whiskers, preparing for a last second dodge. Its energy was growing with such a fast paced rate, that its body gave a gentle shudder from the Focus Energy.
The moment that its sensitive whiskers felt the brush of the claws, the Rattata sprang into action with a Quick Attack to gain some distance from the Sandshrew. It literally jumped over Dasy's armor like body and landed behind her, but didn't attack. Instead, it seemed to twitch its tail in a 'bring-it-on' manner.
