A tall figure walked towards the Ranger Station, Zane hugged his jacket close. His blue jeans didn't really keep his legs warm, but his grey sweater was keeping some of his body heat in. His feet froze from just having sneakers on he walked a bit faster. His dark grey hair blew in his face, pushing it out of his eyesight he went on. The cold wind was bone chilling. Zane went on, he finally got away from his over protective mother and was finally getting his first Pokémon here. He really hoped it wasn't a Skarmory, Zane shivered at the thought. Who knows what he would do then.
Finally getting to the station he walked inside, the wind blowing in some leaves he kicked them off his foot. His icy blue eyes scanned the place. Did he really have to? He did. "Hello? Anyone here?" He said, seeing if there was anyone here.

::starly:: Ranger Bruce !A dark, cloaked figure stood in the darkest shadow of the tent, a corner which no light penetrated even as the youth pushed the curtain of the tent's flap open. As Zane gave his question, Bruce uncrossed his arms and stepped slowly, cryptically, until he was in sight.
He held out one of his arms, which bore a normal-looking bag bulging with items, and flung it toward the tall boy. Then, without gesturing for the boy to follow, he turned and exited the back of the tent - his secret way to the outside. It was an unspoken invitation for Zane to follow; it was time for him to recieve his first pokemon. It was always an important mission for Bruce.

Zane raised an eyebrow. Who in the world was this lunatic? Zane shurgged and followed the weird guy, so he was the ranger... How in the world would they let a guy like this be a ranger? Probably his Pokemon was a Taillow named Robin or something.
He followed him, waiting to see what he would do.

Ranger Bruce disappeared into the bushes for a moment, the Starly on his shoulders chirruping as its beady eyes scanned the ground and bodies of water for a Pokémon. After a few moments, the pair came to a small lake. With a shriek of recognition, the Starly dived into the water. There was the sound of scuffling, before the Starly re-emerged seconds later, dragging something heavy out of the water. The gem at the center of the Staryu's chest was sounding, flashing a bright red at momentary intervals, indicating that the poor thing was totally exhausted and unable to even break out of a Pokeball. Wordlessly handing a Pokeball to Zane as his Starly flew to his shoulder, where he nuzzled it with a thumb, he waited for Zane to make the capture. Zane wondered how in the world he got this Ranger. Hearing the sruggled from behind the door he wondered what the heck was going on. Then the odd dude came back and gave Zane a Pokeball. The Starly upon his shoulder seemed to be happy.
Zane raised an eyebrow at the guy and then threw it at the Staryu. Sighing he wondered why he came here again.

Ranger Bruce snickered at the trainer's half-assed attempt to capture the Staryu, while Robin only gave him a curious look. Why? What was so funny? What did he miss? Bruce only shook his head quietly at this questions that the Starly's eyes seemed to ask him, who was clearly getting self conscious rather quickly. The pair turned to watch the Pokeball tremble with the excitement of having something inside of it, the button in the center blinking red and white as it struggled to contain the Staryu.
In one last attempt to break free, the Staryu gave a valiant effort to jump out of the Pokeball, but failed. This was one tough starter Pokemon, which Bruce couldn't help but admire. Hopefully such a determined Pokemon would help encourage such a weak looking boy on his journey.
"...my mission is complete." He ominously said before retreating into the shadows. His Starly chirped happily from a job well done, quite proud of himself for taking out the starfish with such little effort. One of these days, he was going to evolve. He just knew it!
