There is was.... looming before her a few yards away as the roof of the building emerged from the horizon as she drew closer. Not exactly how she pictured this moment when she was little. It had been the Lab, not the Ranger Station. Yet fate was quite tricky. Rumors of some power outage forbid her to come to the lab to start her journey. No she stood before the alternative choice, gazing at it with contemplating blue eyes. Some glow of anticipation showed through her dark eyes. Her head was cocked up, gazing at the symbol of the Rangers that hung in the front. A natural breeze blew by, ruffling her dark blue hair, and the girl shuddered a bit. But not from the cold-she already has a jacket on- but from excitement.
With slow, deliberate steps, Rane entered the buidling, as the doors parted, revealing the interior.
"Hello?"she called, her voice echoing quitely inside.

The Ranger Station was completely empty, having an old fashioned feeling with the lack of electricity. The tent looked a bit worn out, and had the smell of leather for some odd reason. Nevertheless, it was sturdy and big, enough for several people to sleep in. Sitting at one of the tables sat a creepy older woman with her Mime Jr sitting at the table, though in Mime Jr's case, he was actually on the table. Playing Poker, it seems. "...close the flap." She grumbled, annoyed at the cold breeze that shifted inside of the tent. Their humble, not so warm home that was covered in blankets. Even she had to bundle up, not happy with the lack of electricity in the Cheyenne Region. "You. Girl. Have a seat." She commanded with a wave of her hands, and oddly enough, a chair hovered right behind Rane's buttocks, trying to scoop her in and sit her comfortably against the table. Except she might've been squished a bit. This magic business was hard. "Are you good at cards? Wanna play?" She asked, not taking her eyes off of the cards in her hand during this entire phase. Mime Jr just put down a card and she hissed, annoyed that he had called her bluff. Stupid psychic Pokemon, always cheating. He looked smug, sticking out his tongue at her. [/font]

((Lol XD, I love your rping))
Rane jumped slightly at the sudden voice, whipping her gaze towards the table. For a second, she was quite...well....surprised. Probably because of the Mime Jr. sitting on the table playing cards. "Oh right..the flap..."the girl muttered as she recollected her thoughts. She quickly stepped forward so that the tent flap fell behind her, casting the tent back into the dim lighting.
Rane let out a yelp of surprise as something touched her bottom and she found herself zooming towards the table on a flying chair. It stopped quite abrutly near the table, and inertia made the girl slide forward a few inches. She would've fallen off had she not clung to the sides. It took Rane a few seconds to stop her heart from beating a mile a minute. Definitely not how she pictured her first day getting her Pokemon. Much to her curiousity, she decided to ask about what the woman just did to her later.
"Are you good at cards? Wanna play?"
"Uh..."Rane glanced down on the table, deducing that they were playing poker. "I'm not really good at poker,"she answered, rather sheepishly. Then she let herself giggle a bit as the Mime Jr. showed some cockiness in winning the game. Quite a cute pokemon..she liked its personality.

"...Poker? Oh no, poker is boring." The woman dismissed this sentiment with a scoff. "This one always cheats with our new Trainers, so don't take your eyes off him for a moment." The witch whispered in the newcomer's ear as she said this. "In fact... Go and get this girl a starter." The woman clicked her fingers, and the Mime Jr vanished, ever obedient. A puff of purple smoke signaled his departure. "Now... I'll start with a Starter Pack. Get it? Start with a starter pack?" The witch cackled with a hint of mania as she made this awful pun. Clicking her fingers for a second time, a small bag appeared, bulging with useful objects. "Now, while we wait for my companion to return, can I interest you in a drink? Perhaps some food? Or..." Her eyes glinted with a hint of excitement. "Perhaps a Tarot reading?"

Rane glanced at the seemingly just playful Mr. Mime, unsure of how to resond to the woman's claim about its trickery. She supposed it might be true since she only just met the Pokemon; never judge a book by its cover. Quite suddenly, the Mr. Mime vanished after the woman's command. Rane stared at the place where the Pokemon had just stood moments ago before the voice of the woman drew Rane's attention back to her.
"Now... I'll start with a Starter Pack. Get it? Start with a starter pack?"
Rane gave her a wry, unsure smile, feeling as if that if she didn't respond positively, the woman would be upset with her. The bag appeared in thin air.
...First moving a chair magically and now making a bag appear in thin air. This lady was just full of surprises. As much to her curiosity, Rane put the feeling off once more. Excitement battled back the her uncertainty of the woman.
She picked up the back and looked inside, digging through a few stuff, and taking quite some time to examine the Pokedex.
"Thanks,"Rane replied, putting the bag aside.
"Erm, no thanks. I just ate,"she replied shyly in response to the woman's offer. The latter question, though, caught her off guard.
"Uh..a Tarot reading? What's that?"Rane asked, giving the woman a skeptic glance. It sounded like fortune telling to her.

The witch laughed. "You don't know? I pull out a few cards, and tell you what they mean about your future. One card alone means nothin'." She stopped to release a small hiccup, cackle like thing, before hearing cries from Pokémon.
Holding out a pokéball, she opened the tent flap, walking outside. The Mime Jr. was dragging what seemed to be a rock and a nose. "There you go. Toss the ball." She was freezing, but said nothing, except encouraging her to throw it.

Rane was about to answer when the sound of scuffling and sounds of struggle could be heard outside of the tent. The woman suddenly held out a pokeball towards her direction. She was a little taken aback by the change in pace, but was obliged to take the red and white pokeball from the woman's hand. Clutching it in her hand, she quickly followed after the woman, while doing a double take and hastily grabbing her bag, she exited the tent, feeling the chill of the wind billow through her dark blue hair.
The first thing she saw was an oddly shaped rock. It didn't strike her that it was a Pokemon until the woman urged her to throw the ball.
Upon taking a closer look, Rane noticed it had a nose and seemed to be moving a bit.
A Nosepass!
With a slight glance at the woman, Rane gripped the Pokeball and threw it at the Pokemon.

OCC: Um, do you think it's okay if you can change my starter pokemon XD. I am really really really sorry, and I don't want to sound like a really picky person, but Nosepass is like my least favorite pokemon, so I don't really feel enthusiastic in rping a Nosepass XD. I'm fine with any other pokemon. But if you can't I totally understand :3 I'm soo sorry for asking, please don't think I'm bossy or anything ><

ooc: Sorry Rane, but this was the risk you took with the Ranger Station. Just catch another Pokemon on the route and get rid of this one.

::mimejr:: Anonymous Witch !Nosepass merely tilted his head upward when he finally noticed the pokeball scoring the air toward him. He was soon swallowed in the depths of the crude machine, static sparking as the ball closed itself and descended to the floor. The ball rocked once, then electricity crackled once again and the pokeball cracked open, allowing Nosepass to leave its clutches.
"Ah, I should have expected that. Power's out, you know. It affects the pokeballs too." Remarked the witch, causing an Ultra Ball to fly from the shelf towards Rane. "Try it again, using this one. It should work." She guided, smiling in a witch-like way.
Nosepass hardly moved except for a few turns of his head to look around, so befuddled about the situation he was in.
Nosepass broke out of the pokeball. You recieve: 1 Ultra ball

Rane let out a slight hiss of irritation as the Nosepass escaped from the Pokeball. Luckily, it didn't run away but just merely remained in the same spot, if somewhat confused. So what now?she wondered, since the woman commented that the Pokeballs weren't working because of the power outage. Rane wondered if Nosepass would have to follow her around now. Were these Pokemon fast-footed? She didn't know since it was a Rock Pokemon. Then the woman handed her-okay, well, magically floated- an Ultra Ball to her. Quite surprised to be given such a higher efficient Pokeball on her first day, Rane took it and glanced at the Nosepass, judging the distance. This better work, the girl thought with hope, throwing the Ultra Ball.

With a dull thunk, the Ultra Ball smacked into the side of the strange boulder-like Pokemon, who hadn’t so much as twitched since escaping from the Pokeball. Enveloped in a field of red light, the Pokémon vanished for a second time; a few yellow sparks distorted the crimson light as the Nosepass was drawn within the sphere. Falling to the ground, the ball continued to spark and wriggle for a moment before finally settling down.
You Obtained Nosepass. Name: Up to you. Gender: Up to you. Personailty: Up to you. Ability: Sturdy, Magnet Pull Level: Five Moves: Tackle, Rollout
”Good,” the woman said with a small smile. ”It would not have been a good omen if even an ultra ball rejected your touch.” With a twirl of her hands, a small box appeared in her grasp. ”A reading?” she inquired for a final time, her misty eyes watching the new trainer.

Rane slowly walked towards where the Ultra Ball lay motionless. Stooping down, she picked it up and held it before her, gazing at it with contemplating blue eyes. Then a small smile crossed her features, as she began to envision herself taking her first step to her Pokemon journey.
Rane turned to see the woman offering her some cards, asking if she wanted a reading. The girl responded with a sly smile and replied, "No thanks. I think the best things in life are the surprises along the way."
