I was thinking maybe there should be a new group established, something like an alternate profession for players. A police force if you will, agents against TD. They could still do other stuff like take on the gym challenge, but their prime objective is to go on missions against TD.
This would give new players something a little different compared to the usual bad team, trainer, and coordinator groups.
I would call them rangers, but I think catching pokemon like normal is probably more fun.

The thing is, TD's base was specifically stated to be outside of Cheyenne police jurisdiction to avoid this little problem. Not to mention that if we have a police force, they can arrest TD members if they lose really, which leaves us trapped really. No battles, little socialisation. It seems pointless. XD
And if they don't have that privilege, what makes them any different from existing characters on the Light side, who are essentially vigilante authoritarians anyway? XD I do think Jub has a character who happens to be a policeman in training, but that doesn't really impact upon his character's rights and direction, or separate him in a major morality or direction from any other character in the Light.
Lastly, I can see every newbie and all their friends acting like wannabe Officer Jennies, asking for Growlithes and Stunkies and who knows what else, and then getting all butthurt if we didn't want them to have it.
If it was going to be brought in, it couldn't have a huge amount of power or special privileges and really would have to function purely on a roleplaying level, and we don't stop people from creating police characters as it is. It just seems like filler to me. XD Sorry if that seems harsh.

We have thought about creating these police-related jobs, but when it came down to executing it, there wasn't enough things for them to realistically do, most of the time. TD isn't super active right now, and thus the police force wouldn't have much to do either.
As talis mentioned, there are characters that kind of are 'police-like', and have their own sense of justice and rise up to confront TD when needed.

The Light Side is somewhat impromptu vigilantes as it is. That's unquestionably true, even some non-aligned people have an anti-TD attitude like that, but the fact is, there's still no static force against them. Yeah, TD doesn't do much- but the advertisement [I've advertised it enough to have read it] sort've implies a shadow war between TD and Professor Winter's chosen trainers. As an anti-TD side, they could be lead by the NPC Winters [and perhaps a few of the NPC gym leaders could have a hand in it]; they could partake in missions against real TD members and NPC ones- but more importantly could push Winter's Agenda, helping newbie trainers [PC and otherwise, but mostly PC], protecting trainers at risk, etc. TD being 'thrown into jail and basically having no RP opportunities' is as silly as saying light side members or otherwise caught by TD and imprisoned in TD's cells couldn't do anything. There's always the chance of an escape, or TD members being sent out on a rescue. If you wanted to be funny , you could even have some of the battles ignore the chance of capture entirely, and after TD is beaten back, they blast off again.
My Nickel of cents.

Warren's right on that one. Remember that suggestion about TD capturing members and I was all for it? I'd be all for this too. Except I'd really only see it as a member run organization. I don't feel much of a need to make a GOOD SIDE and a BAD SIDE because it just makes things too black and white.
I mean. Not even Professor Winter is all JUSTICE AND GOODNESS AND LIBERTY. But yeah. This would be a roleplay only thing, and there's nothing stopping the members from going out and doing it. You guys could even buy things from the Pokeshops and give them out as prizes for doing missions. XD Maybe hatch eggs or something...
It would be like, hard core resistance action.

I'd support it, if people were in on it. Obviously Warren has some serious anti-TD rethoric in his brainpan. It's just about role playing meeting up, and finding players and such. On that note- nothing at all stops a player from seeing someone attacked in their journey thread by a member of TD, and proceeding to enter it with their own character stumbling upon the scene.
The only problem there is there's really no way to tell TD is TD, so anything aside from missions against static places/things would be hard to do.

Lol, and I agree with the above, that Capture can be evaded, not to mention thats part of being a bad guy, there are consequences to your actions REGARDLESS, thats also roleplay and good story telling. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
If I run out and steal a bunch of shit there will be repercussions, at the same time if I run around as a police officer and really crack down on the badguys, I make myself a target.
Sure most players on the light side are impromptu vigilantes, but it doesn't seem realistic that no one has created a legitimate task force, with the goal of countering anything they catch wind of doing.
Black and white? It doesn't have to be, you can always have defectors, and double agents on both sides, just like you can always have people who do things differently within the organization. You might have a cop who will do anything to stop a TD member including putting lives of others at risk.
Last wtf good is a growlithe for a police officer anyway? You'd think a psychic pokemon would be much much more useful.

Get with the program Teven, we're not talking about police forces anymore, we're talking about which power ranger Jesse should be. Way to be off-topic.

He'll be purple n' pink and he'll damn well like it. He can, however, have sexual toys as props. Belts. Whips. Spikes. Ball and chain combinations, et cetera et cetera.
