Since it will take a very long time for many people to get Fly, or even travel to different regions I suggest we could have a public transportation service that can lead us to a different city whenever we wish to go...
The public transportation will cost money, most likely going up increments for further distances and it can take us only to cities... not routes. I know there is a slight problem as this takes away from Pidgey Express when you can just travel to the city this way, and it is also probably not the most efficient as the cities have level determinants for pokemon. But still, it can be a nice thing to have in order to go to exactly where we want to go.
It should be really expensive to purchase a ticket but it can lead us anywhere we want... This way it saves us from having to use Fly for the time being. And to make this worth it, and not take away from Pidgey Express... We can make it super expensive where this would not be a good alternative from Pidgey Express.
Instead this is so we can challenge gym leaders easier. And we can also capture pokemon at higher level without having to go through routes we would rather not journey through at the moment. What do you think?

Even fly can't get you to places you haven't been before.
I don't really see the point of public transport, especially since your route threads can technically be like 5 posts long. Once you do arrive to a city, you can travel back to it at any time.
It just seems a bit... useless.

I don't see point in it. Why not just pay the extra money for the item or pokemon in the shop? It would be easier. Besides, if this was to implemented it would be costly so there would be no point. Plus you would have to pay to go to a place then back? Do you see the point in it, because I dont. It's not needed.
Plus say if you were to travel from city one to the city before route nine. Then you could just go to route nine and get your arse kicked. NO POINT.

This isn't more for Pidgey Express... Instead it is more to go through a specific route. Maybe you want a challenge, or want a specific pokemon that is only found in route 9 although you are only in route 4.
You are not scared of the challenge so you are willing to pay the cost to use the transportation to move all the way up the city before/after route 9. That way you can now go directly to route 9 and find that wild pokemon.
Sure your pokemon would probably be weaker, but that is where your numbers come in. It provides you a bigger challenge to defeat the wild pokemon. And this is more satisfaction to capture the wild pokemon because of that.
That is only if you want to do this for wild pokemon battle.
There is also the gym battle. Maybe you are in route 5 and then find out you need Rock Smash that is only found in Route 1. You can use the transportation system to go to the city closest to Route 1 and go get Rock Smash then.
Then you can use the transportation to return to route 5. That way you won't have to make topics in the city prior to route 5, route 4, the city prior to that, route 3, the city prior to that, route 2, the city, and then route 1. You can just quickly get where you want to go.
And maybe you later one want to travel with a friend who is only in route 1. Instead of making your journey back, or waiting for that person to catch up to you... You can use the transportation system to get there.
It'll be expensive so people don't use it just to escape the Pidgey Express... But it will also be very time efficient for people who might have to go forward or want to go back

If you were to travel backwards yes, and as long as its a return ticket if you like. Say 1,000 for a return ticket. But not going forward.

For these, we would most likely allow you to just skip forward and backward, if you don't want to simply make a post in every city/route. That would be completely fine.
I can see this happening, but frankly, it would be similar to just skipping routes. We don't really WANT that to happen. Have a pokemon you want in route 3, then start training and get your butt to route three. The satisfaction is much greater.
I would not mind a way to travel back, as Podz suggest. Forward? Never. Though as mentioned above, no one truly cares if you move back a couple of routes. We do, however, mind if you skip a couple

I thought there was already a subway from every city to Verona. I guess if you wanted to pay for it and risk getting your booty kicked by huge, strong Pokemon, it'd be pretty cool. And I'm not just saying that cause Gertrude is getting sick of walking. canshehaveone?

Well then the moving forward idea is shot down. But we can still use it as cheap public transportation to move back. This can be the alternative to fly if we never get the HM...
It would be a nice way to go between cities we have already visited, and gives the forum a more modern feel to it. The region can be modernized with the public transportation systems...
And we can have it be either very instant (you buy ticket and boom you are there).
Or we can make this another liquid time thing. It will take 1 real-time hour to travel. And in this real-time hour you can battle other trainers who also are boarding the train. Or battle NPC if there are any. Or just hang out with your own pokemon.
The skies the limit if you want the real-time hour jazz... And with this jazz you can give Team Death more opportunities to find passengers.

Halis is right about the Verona thing, but that's really just a way to explain how everyone from every route has easy access to Verona. One of my concerns is when people "skip routes", is that when they finally get there, they start to god mod because they can't accept a loss. They might expect to be up against the lowest level possible in the route, when it could be something really powerful.
What are you thinking of when you suggest "moving back" though? Do you mean that you want to have a thread in every city, kind of like how we have the route trainer/city pokemon stickied, mentioning the said public transportation? Now if it was something like that, I'd be worried about all of the clutter in the cities. xD People get confused and don't read threads because there are so many of them...
Really, you could just mention it in your roleplay in your next destination how you got there, and for no price. Kind of like the Pokemon Centers, and how you can roleplay "going there" without posting there and waiting for a mod.

That's true. Yeah the clutter was a worry I had and there doesn't really seem to be a huge need for a public transportation... at least now.
Maybe I can bring this up later if there is a need... but for now I don't see the point of this anymore. Initially I did but you all made me see why it isn't necessary and I agree with ya'll

Final Verdict
No plz. It just makes everything too easy. You have to go through routes sequentially.
But the granny can have her scooter. <3
