DougieSonders I just wanna run
Dougie, as he left the Ranger Station, stared at the pokeball in his hand. An Azurill... How ironic comparing the ranger, that he never got a name from, had the final evolution of it. Maybe he planned it. Who knew. All Dougie knew was that the pokemon seemed to be a bit of a cry baby when the Azumarill bitch slapped it. But then again would he cry if he was being beaten up by a girl? Probably.Stuffing the ball back into his pocket he continued down the path of what is know as the path that most trainers quit on Route One. Sighing and flipping his hair out of his heads with a flick of his head, he thought about how much he would give to be in a car. Then again, with his awesome luck, he'd almost hit someone and they'd want a favor in return. Usually when people asked him to do them favors they were split by gender. Males tended to want money, to beat him up (oh noes), or something so stupid that Dougie ignores them and just leaves. They don't take to kindly to that though. Females however were the nasty ones. They always wanted something like a hug or a kiss, or worse. Much much worse. Why was he cursed with good looks? With brown eyes and tan skin plus his blond and black hair, he was probably any girl's dream boyfriend. Except for the fact that he loved mischief and making most people's lives chaotic. But looks wise, he was the one. On top of all this however was his size. He was so short he could be considered jail bait. No one could ever get his age right... Twenty one damn it.Dougie was lucky however today. The route before him looked generally deserted (though it would be his luck to find the only person in miles), and it was a fairly nice fall day. Sun was out, clear sky, light breeze, wasn't too hot or cold. It was nice weather, he shouldn't complain. (Open in means of one intruder at a time. This is not a "let's all mob Dougie thread" Mkay? Mkay.)[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Talis had decided it was for the best that his Pokemon get a little more training before he moved on to the Electric City in a real, battling capacity. To that end, he had gone to the Pokemon Center, healed his Pokemon up, and returned to Route One. he wasn't quite so nervous anymore. He sent out his Mudkip, Oberon, fresh from the Pokemon Center and ready to get back into the game.
Talis smiled at his Pokemon and crouched, stroking its smooth blue coat before standing up and beginning to walk on. He caught sight of another man ahead before long, and Oberon tilted his head to one side as Talis approached the stranger, not quite sure what to think.
Talis smiled briefly at the man, for the sake of politeness. He decided to say something as well. "Hi." Not the most social person when other humans came into the equation, this was as good as Talis got when it came to greetings. Sad but true.

DougieSonders I just wanna run
Dougie was completely content on just walking all the way to the city without any disruptions. Would this make his pokemon stronger? Nope but maybe he could hot wire a car to come back with. Yeah. A car, one that was shiny... AND BLACK. Yeah black, shiny.... and a convertible. That would make heads turn.Dougie's peace however was broken by a single word. Freezing, he turned his head to the source, spotting the male heading his way. Mentally he cringed. Wasn't he just thinking that it would be his luck to run into the only other person in miles? Seems like he managed it. Visibly however was different. Plastering his "Sonders Smile" onto his face he gave a wave to the male before talking back. "Hello." Brown eyes glanced down at the water pokemon at the male's side. A water type he guessed since it kinda looked like a fish.... canine thing... He mentally frowned and hoped that the man didn't want to battle. A water type vs. a water type? That wouldn't be very exciting or very eventful. He debating on getting out his pokedex or not to confirm his suspicions but held it in. No need to look like an idiot or a complete newbie to the world of pokemon... Right?[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Talis saw the man's reluctance to ask what Oberon was, so he, in a way he thought was helpful, told him. "This is a Mudkip." He didn't comprehend that he might be hurting the man's pride by even saying this. ...Was he a man? he wasn't quite sure. There was a mature air about him, but his height said otherwise. He wasn't quite sure what to think of this man. He SEEMED friendly, but there was something else that made Talis think he didn't wanna talk. A Spoink saw the two Trainers and their brief conversation as he foraged for berries in the undergrowth, Tilting his head to one side, while trying to keep his pearl on his head, he continued to bounce on his springy tail as he observed the Trainers and the other Pokémon. He squeaked softly as curiosity got the better of him, and he moved closer to them.

DougieSonders I just wanna run
Closing his eyes, Dougie hoped that when he opened them that the man would be gone and that the entire encounter was a figment of imagination caused by the sun... Even if it wasn't hot. Slowly opening them to reveal his brown eyes once more, his sights landed on the male before him. Still here. Well might as well make the most of this right? Time to be an asshole. At the male's statement of his pokemon however the thought of being an asshole grew a bit. Did this guy think him stupid? Sure he didn't know the pokemon but he didn't voice it. Did he really look that stupid? Smiling, he decided to comment back, sarcasm laced in his voice. "Really now? Glad you know your own pokemon's species. It would be a dying shame if you couldn't at least know that." Turning his attention back to the route he started walking away. He wasn't going to spend his time with someone who assumed things like a know it all teenager... Was that guy a teenage? He was taller then him but that didn't really take much to do. Dougie's ears heard the noise to the side of the path but ignored it. If he stopped to investigate then Talis would either catch up to him (even though he could now easily) or the other male would say he found it first like a idiotic teen. Both situations were something that he didn't particularly want to deal with.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Talis blinked at the man's sarcasm and rolled his eyes at Oberon, who still didn't really show any emotion towards the man. He hadn't displayed a Pokemon yet, at least not that Talis could see.
Looking at Oberon, he muttered. "What's his problem?" Although he emant for it to be quiet, it was probably loud enough for the man to hear. Talis wasn't familiar with the subtleties of being quiet when someone wasn't acting the way he wanted them too.
When Oberon cringed and turned away, Talis knew he'd been too loud. This was gonna be fun...

DougieSonders I just wanna run
Dougie didn't turn around when he heard the comment from the other male. Instead, continuing walking at the same even pace, he raised his hand in the air and gave a beautiful birdy with his middle finger. Stuffing his hand into his pockets after her growled to himself and repeated the words "it'll be okay" in his head.He just needed to take deep breaths and not think about the teenager behind him. 'There are bound to be stupid people in the world. Just take it all in stride and pray that they're smart enough to leave you alone and not follow.' It was the most he could ask for, for Talis to just leave and never encounter him again. Was that too much to ask for? ...Wait... Which way was Talis going on the route? He wasn't going the same was as Dougie was he? Oh heavens pray no.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Talis sighed and began to walk in the other direction from Dougie, giving him the middle finger right back. He couldn't be bothered by the likes of him. "Idiot," he murmured to himself, again too loud for anyone with decent ears not to hear.
"Come on, Oberon." Talis touched his Mudkip's ear. "I can't deal with antisocial people like him."
Oberon seemed to disagree, running up in front of Dougie, sitting in front of him, and just staring. It looked a little slow with the expression of curiosity on its face, but then, it inexplicably smiled at Dougie, head tilted to one side.
"Oberon!" he hissed. "Get back here!"

DougieSonders I just wanna run
Dougie continued to ignore any crude comment that the boy said about his person. One of these days he'd run into someone who didn't have the mental patience that he himself had. Talis would then end the day in the ambulance, hospital bound. Which for him wouldn't be a bad sight to watch and eat popcorn to. No, in fact he might even buy tickets to see if he the kid pissed him off any more then he had already.A sharp breath of surprise escaped his mouth however before he could continue on with his list of funny situations the other boy could get beat up in. Before him, on the ground staring at him, as if the pokemon was mentally retarded, was the boy's Mudkip from before. Stopping his walk he stared back, only his was more of a glare. After a moment he continued forward, lifting his leg over the water pokemon and continuing on the path. Dougie was tempted to run back and punt the blue water pokemon back to it's trainer, yelling for him to train his pokemon better, but refrained. He hadn't even let out his pokemon yet, let alone see how well it obeyed him or anything. No, he wasn't that stupid. He'd take this all in strides and hope that by the end of the day today that he would be able to say he hadn't completely humiliated himself. A good first goal, to not look completely and utterly pathetic.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Talis rolled his eyes. What an ass. If he ever ran into this guy again, it would be much too soon for his liking. Walking away from the man, when Oberon refused to follow, he returned him to his Pokeball and walked away, grumbling, hands in his pockets. Your typical sulky teen. Talis has left. Seeing the other Trainer leave, yet not noticing Dougie hadn't gone, a tiny Sunkern re-emerged from the undergrowth he'd used as cover when the humans had come into view. He was foraging for berries. It was getting colder, and once winter came around, it would be best for him to stay inside as much as possible. He could survive on the dew he produced. But berries were just too delicious NOT to eat Scouring the nearby trees for any sign of a fat, juicy berry, he was soundly disappointed, The tree had been picked clean, probably by the various Bird Pokémon that roamed Route 1. This Sunkern was quite small; the runt of the litter, and it was his first year away from home, so he wasn't very experienced in where he should look for Berries. Nor was he any good at staying quiet, for he hummed to himself as he hopped from tree to tree in search of Berries, a song his mother, a Sunflora, had taught him shortly before he'd left.

DougieSonders I just wanna run
Dougie ignored the male who was walking away and his returning of the Pokémon. He was better then him, he obviously had handled the meeting much better. Did he make snide comments? Nope. Sure he flicked the guy off but that was a... minor detail in the grand scheme of things. At the sound of humming however, Dougie's brown eyes slide themselves over to land on a Sunkurn. In all honesty, he couldn't picture why someone would want that Pokémon. Same went with a few other Pokémon such as Magikarp (though it evolution was pretty bad ass) and Caterpie. Really? Who wanted those things? Granted on his way to the route he ran into a Zombikarp vendor but that was different! It's was a zombie and how freaking cool was that? How many people could say they owned a zombie Magikarp? He could! His feet stopped as his eyes stayed on the seed Pokémon. He debated battling it with Hannah. Not because he wanted it (did you read the last paragraph?) but because Hannah needed experience. Sighing, he pulled out the baby water pokemon's pokeball and stared at it. He had horrible luck when getting her was the only thing in his head. Shaking his head and causing his bangs to fall in his eyes, Dougie tossed the ball into the air, releasing the blue water type, before catching the ball.Looking down at Hannah, who seemed confused as to what Dougie wanted her for, he pointed at the Sunkern. "Slam it." The poor Azurill's eyes grew as she shook her head in silent refusal. Eyes narrowing, Dougie did another point to the humming pokemon, his face looking stern with a "just do it" expression. Hannah shook her head again and Dougie couldn't help but feel aggravated with the female. Sighing, he put on his best "Sonders Smile" and with a well practiced, at ease please, the baby Pokémon turned to face the seed before gulping. Pushing down her nerves, she told her that it was for the smile, before leaning back on her ball of a tail like a spring. At what looked to be about a 45 degree angle (though who would be able to tell that?) she launched into the air, doing a quick spiral before beginning her decent upon the seed, body at the ready to crash into the grass type. [/blockquote][/blockquote] |Azurill|5|female| Hannah uses slam [Note: Not sure if it was ever voiced with Dougie, but I thought that I'd mention it now for further reference. <Oh?> The Sunkern chirped when it saw the pitiful crying Azurill lounging around near a human, which he only noticed due to the flash of the Pokeball. He gave them a blank stare, not quite sure what to make of the group. The human spoke some strange, alien words that couldn’t reach his ears. Whatever language it was in, he thought it sounded funny.
Did he have a lisp too? Ok, so the Sunkern didn’t know what that actually was, but he from what he figured, only Pokemon that talked funny had a ‘lisp’, so he assumed that was the definition. The Azurill looked kind, but she was scared for some reason. Why was that? Suddenly, after talking with the human, she went over to him with that cute look on her face. Aww, wasn’t she the—right as he thought that, her tail swung right at his jaw, sending him right into the ground. With a whimper, he hopped back up and gave her a tearful expression.
<T-that hurt.> He whined, knowing that he had to fight back somehow. He didn’t like it, but she had been mean to him first! Little green orbs extended from his leaf, floating lazily in the air as they neared the Azurill, feeling attracted to her life energy. If they touched her, he would gain a little of his health back.

DougieSonders I just wanna run
Dougie watched silently as he watched Hannah launch herself into the slam. He couldn't help but feel relieved that she was even battling, he guessed it was his smile. Irresistible after all but that really didn't matter at the moment. Right now he had to keep focused on the battle at hand.Hannah was surprised that she even hit, she had noticed that the Sunkern was watching them only after she launched herself. She figured that the seed Pokémon would of dodged, seeing how it had an ample amount of time to do so. At the seed's comment that it hurt she felt horrid and guilty. <I-I'm s-so s-s-sowwie!> She sputtered out weakly. She didn't want to battle! The small baby Azurill gave a shrill whimper however when she saw that the Sunkern was fighting back. No! Run away little seed! Run away! It didn't work however, her hopes wouldn't be answered. Instead she was answered with a big fat orb to the face. Another whimper escaped her mouth as her ears flopped down in front of her scared expression.Dougie could have slapped his face in annoyance at him Pokémon right then and there if it wasn't for the fact that he had more dignity then that. Not much, but enough. Instead he decided to try and cox her to attack again. He knew she wasn't in good enough emotional positioning for another slam at the moment so instead, he called out for her to use charm. She was girly so she could manage that at least right? For once Dougie didn't have to say please or smile or do something stupid for the Pokémon to listen. Hannah managed to peak out from behind her ears, her watery eyes looking at the Sunkern before her rather cutely. She had this move mastered with her frightened state. Just another reason for Dougie to dump her on someone when he had a better Pokémon. Maybe they would do better with her.[/blockquote][/blockquote] |Azurill|5|female| Hannah uses charm!

::sunkern:: Pokemon battle ! Sunkern, as he absorbed a bit of life from the Azurill, felt her emotions running through it and felt yet another pang of guilt for counterattacking against the little blue mouse. Yes, he'd gained a small amount of healing from the pain of his slammed face, but this did nothing to eradicate the sadness he felt from attacking the small, blue mouse.
This feeling of remorse grew even greater when he saw the heart-rending expression that the Azurill directed at him. Emotions racked up so much in the pokemon that he couldn't release them in any other action.
He began to weep.
The plant type emitted a sniffle, then another as he began to cry softly in response to his opponent's crying face. The male Sunkern had always been receptive to the feelings of others, and this was no exception. He was so deeply charmed by her that he couldn't even make a move, too guilty to hurt her again.
Sunkern was charmed. Sunkern passed.

Dougie smiled at the Sunkern's reaction. The charm worked! However as he noticed the tears the pokemon had he couldn't help but feel relieved he didn't actually want the pokemon. Having to emotion wreaks for pokemon who be a nightmare. Hannah was bad enough on her own. No. If he had any thought of capturing the seed pokemon they were gone immediately at the sight of weeping.Dougie sighed softly and called out to Hannah to take the opportunity to strike. "Hannah, use slam on it. Act like it's um.... A really violent hug?" He half questioned the statement at the end but if it could relieve any of the guilt on the mind of the Azurill then he'd take the chance. Least for as long as he had to. Hannah surprisingly took this concept rather well. A hug? She could do hugs! Grinning suddenly she sat on the ball at the end of her tail and launched herself again at the Sunkern. <Hug attack!> She barely managed to giggle out before what could very well be the impact point to the poor grass type's body. [/blockquote][/blockquote] ::azurill:: Azurill|5|Female Hannah uses slam

::sunkern:: Pokemon encounter ! Sunkern cried even as the trainer commanded his Azurill to attack once more, sniffling loudly as he did. It wasn't until the little blue mouse was bounding up to him that he shook the tears off of himself and looked up. Seeing his opponent flying through the air towards him prompted him to shriek before he was pounded into the ground in what seemed more like a hug than an attack. It still hurt.
The little seed stopped crying as his health ran even lower, feeling adrenaline course through him. He had to defend himself, he knew. The other side of him took over, and it was as if he were another Sunkern. Expression turning grim, he rose back up and glared darkly at the Azurill that had attacked him. <Pain,> He hissed. His ability, Solar Power, had weakened him drastically, but he now felt pure power coursing through his little, striped body.
Vines grew steadily out of the little seedling, floating in the air a little before he commanded them forth at Hannah. The Sunkern grinned devilishly as he launched the attack, wanting ever so much to get back at this insolent little bugger.
Sunkern was hit with Slam. Sunkern used Absorb on Hannah!

Hannah's eyes went wide when she saw the sudden change in the Sunkern. It didn't like hugs? She was about to pout at the thought when the seed started doing something... What were those orbs again? Curious eyes watched them float towards her and her brain was screaming to move away from them, to avoid them. But her heart kept asking why such pretty bubbles would hurt. So she stood still, watching one come ever closer, causing her to giggle as it came up to her face, however that stopped when it actually hit her.
A small scream escaped her throat as she hid her face behind her ears again. That hurt! Now she remembered what they were. Something in her triggered though. This Sunkern attacked her for her hug! It was a soulless fiend! It must have faked it's crying before to get her to believe that it wanted to be her friend. How awful!
Dougie sighed at the sight and didn't bother say for her to move. She needed to learn that life wasn't all rainbows and sunshine. Instead he watched her silently but was surprised when she seemed to take a more serious look. He decided that he'd use it while she still had it, who knows what that girl would do next. "Hannah, slam."
Hannah nodded in agreement and launched herself once more at the seed. The fiend of a seed didn't want to be her friend or want her hugs! That was as good as a sin to the small minded female Azurill.

Sunkern knew that the attack was coming, but was unable to hop out of the way in time to avoid contact with the charging blue Pokemon. He, instead, held his ground and took the attack, holding back a further squeal of pain; his health was falling, but he wouldn’t go down easy. No, the adrenaline still coursing through his tiny body assured him that there would be a fight involved with his destruction.
The vines growing from his body, swarming and glowing, arched towards Hannah for another Absorb attack, each tendril seemingly aching for a bit of her energy. It was such close range that another attack from the Azurill would be even harder to avoid. Still, the situation was parlous regardless of where the seed Pokemon attacked from. Might as well do it before the Azurill could back up and get ready for another vicious hug. Maybe it couldn’t dodge at such close quarters, either?

The Sunkern was right, Hannah couldn't escape the vicinity of the absorb attack in time, though at least time she didn't watch them fly at her face. This time it hit her tail as she tried to dive around them but there were just too many. Least she tried and at another 'slam' call from Dougie, she decided to launch her attack once more.
Slipping into position on her ball of a tail, Hannah shot herself once more like a cannon ball at the Sunkern. Take that hug hater!
Dougie couldn't help but smile. For once his pokemon was actually battling. He felt some pride but shot it down rather quickly. He was most likely going to trade her to someone who would take better care of a skittish pokemon. He didn't take skittish or scared of their own shadows pokemon. It was like girls. Never get a clingy girl and never get a girl that needs you for everything known to man. Heaven forbid they go into a bathroom without one, or seven, of their girlfriends with them.

The Slam finished off the Sunkern. With a squeal of devastation at his loss, he dropped to the ground, the full wait of the baby Pokémon on him. Yet despite her age, the tiny seedling was unable to force the Azurill's weight off him.
As his vision began to fade, he sighed as he looked up at the sun. Great. He'd just come out to get some dew and now he was a beaten up mess on La Premiere Route. Life just wasn't fair when you were a Sunkern.
