"Oh, of course! I'm really sorry, I forgot to tell you my Pokeballs are broken - something's happened. My Pokedex has been blank for days, and my Pokeballs haven't stopped crackling either." She shook her head, the blonde hair whipping lightly against her neck, before stamping on the broken Pokeball. She wouldn't want any other Pokemon to accidentally stumble on it while it was still sparking. Satisfied with the shreds of Pokeballs she'd produced from the stamps, she pulled another one from the limited stock clipped to her belt. A squeal from Birthday rang out behind her; Quinn sighed. "Birthday! Helix! Stop pissing about, or I'll get Cor on you!" She threatened, pointing to the Pokeball on her belt in which her Meditite resided during his meditation sessions. The Shuppet and Smoochum instantly stopped bickering, not wanting to get whipped into shape by the authoritative figure that was Cor. "Okay. Here it comes." Quinn tried to make her voice calm and soothing as she addressed the Starly; gently, she knocked the Pokeball against the grey puffball, hoping it worked this time.

Starly was ready for the nefarious Pokeball this time, and withstood its sparks, albeit with a slight whimper. The electricity danced over his feathers, singing them. But this was surely a test of his caliber, and the proud young Starly would not allow anything to get the better of him. The ball rocked gently as it tried to keep Starly in, which it managed this time. After only a few moments, the Pokeball ceased its movement, and with a gentle noise, the capture was complete. You caught Starly. Gender: Male Level: 6.5 Ability: Keen Eye Moves: Tackle. Growl. Quick Attack.

Quinn smiled lightly to herself, before bending down and picking up the Pokeball; minimising it, she clipped it to her belt, before turning around to sort out the two troublemakers. "Helix! Birthday!" She said in a scolding tone, marching up to the squabbling pair and picking up each of them; Helix in her left hand, struggling to get out of the grip and Birthday in her right, hanging by the scruff of her neck stubbornly, her arms grossed, shooting glares at the Shuppet. "I want you two to apologise to each other. You can't carry on like this - what if you have to double up in a battle sometime? Then what?" Quinn continued to speak like an angry mother. The two Pokemon mumbled half-hearted apologies to each other; satisfied, Quinn dropped them onto the ground; Helix stopped falling midway and swooped upwards in a curve, while the Smoochum landed on the ground with a muffled thump, still stubbornly ignoring the Shuppet. Quinn rolled her eyes and turned, ready to walk further up the trail. "Come on, guys. Forwards!" She called, starting to walk.

Still alive for another day! The Paras couldn't help but feel relieved. Eyes darting everywhere, the Mushroom Pokemon couldn't help but feel that something was off, something was wrong... Someone was coming.
The poor Paras was lucky to escape Sierra stalker girl and her stalking pokemon. She was also lucky to have escaped some boy seeing how he never acknowledged her existence anyways.
What if another trainer came?! Oh why did her mushrooms always ask for sap from the trees on the other side of the path? Why didn't she just make a new home? Why couldn't trainers find a different path to go on? Why why why?

It was the Paras' lucky day. As Quinn walked, her eyes seemed to overlook the little Mushroom Pokemon; and she continued to walk, straight past the paranoid Paras, completely oblivious for it. She wasn't that good at spotting Pokemon yet; after all, she was still a rookie! One of her Pokemon may have picked it up, but... Birthday had clambered into her rucksack and fallen asleep, whilst Helix was moodily staying high up at treetop-level, skulking among the leaves, occasionally knocking a few leaves off their branch. He'd give his trainer the silent treament until she caved in - little did he know, she was doing the exact same thing to him. He couldn't act like a brat all the time - now he needed to be taught good behaviour! And so, the trio never noticed the little Paras, and walked steadily forwards.

Oh the perks of being a male Combee. No evolution, no recognition from his queen, and always sent out to get honey and nectar by the suppoedly "superior" females. As he collected quite a sizable amount of honey, he noticed the footsteps of another nearby and peeked from over the latest flower he had nestled on for a better view. His wings buzzed curiously despite himself, giving away his position. Damnit. He didn't want to be captured! Then again, who would capture a male Combee anyway? ::combee::

This time, Quinn heard the rustle. Swivelling around on her heels, she spotted a blob of yellow against the green foliage. It was a... multi headed thing. She cocked her head to one side, quite confused; she'd never really encountered anything like it before. Hoping for a miracle, she slipped her Pokedex out of her pocket, hoping it would spring to life and enlighten her as to what this strange Pokémon was. Flipping it open, her heart sank; the screen was still blank, and pitch black. Sighing, she decided this curious little thing would be a good fighting opportunity anyway. Birthday was still too much of a baby to fight in the wild yet - and Cor the Meditite was in a yoga period, and was always difficult if you disturbed one of them. So Helix the Shuppet was her only choice. "Fight this thing, Helix." She smiled, waving the little ghost forward. Helix refused to leave the tops of the trees. That's when it struck her - he was still giving her the silent treatment! She'd completely forgotten - she was meant to be dishing out the same treatment to him, too! Ah, well. Surely they were both mature enough to look over this petty little issue? She looked up. Obviously not. "Helix, get down here or you will be in big trouble." She hadn't quite decided what this "big punishment" was going to be yet, but it worked every time. Sure enough, the Shuppet moodily floated downwards, before stubbornly facing the opponent, refusing to look at the blonde. "Good. Shadow Sneak!" Helix snapped into action; extending his shadow, he was swallowed up by the darkness, intending to strike the yellow Pokémon from behind.

As the Pokémon disappeared in preparation for Shadow Sneak, Combee blinked, wondering where on earth the intimidating Shuppet had vanished to. As the Ghost Type rematerialized behind him, Combee squealed and made an effort to get away from the rapid move. He failed, thrown out into the open by the unexpected attack. Landing on his back, he fluttered his wings furiously to get upright and airborne again. When he did, he released a sugary sweet scent from his body, spreading it with his wings before intensifying the flow of wind into a Gust. Combee used Sweet Scent and Gust. [/B]

Helix was affected by the Pokemon's Sweet Scent, and whilst trying to shake it off, was hit by the burst of wind. Quinn made a mental note to give him some more dodging exercises; some beanbags thrown at his head would do the trick, plus with Birthday trying to knock him out at every opportunity, he should get better at it in no time. "Right, Helix, that was just a minor setback. Screech and Shadow Sneak." Quinn had gotten bored of the Shuppet's single attack move, but hey, what else was there to use? So, after hesitating in the air to release a loud, piercing shriek, Helix extended his shadow once more and raced behind the yellow thing, intending to strike it from behind once more.

What one arth was that sound? It grated against Combee's ears, raising goosebumps and temporarily stopping him from flying straight, tipping him over to one side before he righted himself. But the Shadow Sneak soon had him on the ground again with a yell of pain and indignation, his three faces closing their eyes as he hit the dusty ground, raising clouds of brown debris as he gasped at the impact, winding him. Taking flight again, his wings a little crumpled and his sensitive golden body purpling as bruises formed, Combee flapped his wings again, generating a powerful mini gale which was directed towards the Shuppet. ::combee:: Combee used Gust. As the attack hit, Helix experienced a boost of confidence - whirling in patterns in the air, he gave a small series of chirps as the Pokemon (unknown to Quinn as a Combee) picked itself up from the dirt, looked battered and bruised. Sure, he felt bad; but it was a battle, eh? And he had to prove himself to Quinn, finally. Another Gust started to blow from the Combee's wings, heading towards the little Ghost Pokemon; flying to the side, he tried to dodge it, but failed once more. The Shuppet was picked up with the wind and tumbled in the air several times, a little energy knocked out of him at the same time. But he refused to simply give up and lie in the dust; tilting himself upright in the air, he waited for more orders. Quinn, who had been a soothing a cranky Birthday to sleep again, focused her attention on the battle again. "Same combo." She said simply, watching as Helix opened his mouth once more, releasing another high-pitched screech; and then, he cloaked himself in darkness from his extended shadow, and wheeled around behind the three-headed opponent, feeling like a mythical Greek hero fighting a many-headed monster. ::shuppet:: HELIX used SCREECH and SHADOW SNEAK!

Combee winced as the horrendous sound attacked him again. It was almost as if the Shuppet was attempting to emulate the sound of nails on a chalkboard, and definitely succeeded. Oh, why did this have to happen to him? He'd only come out here for honey-gathering, so he could whet his queen's insatiable appetite, and he'd been attacked! Honestly, the females of the hive had it so easy. He would never grow up to be like them, he was stuck in this constant state of being a stupid bee that everyone picked on.
And he'd never been very fortuitous, either. Things like this always seemed to happen to him. Attacks. Getting lost. Being reprimanded for not bringing enough of the savory honey to the hive. Being overlooked by even those he considered friends. Well, life sucked. His life just sucked a little more.
Expression listless as he momentarily allowed himself to be consumed in self-pity, he was left vulnerable to the Shadow Sneak. Crying out in shock and pain, he nearly dropped out of the air, certainly sinking lower in his flight with weakness. Out of breath, he huffed as he stirred up his wings for another gust attack.

Once again, the temporary demise of the Combee provided another burst of confidence for Helix. He gave another series of squeals, cartwheeling in the air as he waited for his opponent to get up. He was on a high; adrenaline pumped through his misty veins, the expression on his face evil-looking and mischievous. "Dodge!" Quinn said sharply; without meaning to, her voice snapped out in a bark, full of urgency. Helix, slightly startled by the dramatic change in tone, managed to sweep out of the Gust's way, exerting more pressure than usual to avoid the attack. The wind blew past, ruffling him slightly; he seemed disapproving of it. "Okay, Shadow Sneak straight in, go for a fast one." Quinn's blue eyes narrowed; she was determined to win this. Helix once again, covered himself in darkness so only his glowing, red eyes shone through; and then he wheeled behind the Combee once more, aiming to repeat the previous attack. ::shuppet:: HELIX used SHADOW SNEAK!

The Shadow Sneakc ame too fast for Combee to dodge, and eyt again he was thrown to the ground by the force of the blindingly fast Shuppet's attacks. An audible crack sounded as Combee hit the ground. As blood dripped from a slice in Combee's chest, he knew his carapace had been cracked, and it was only a matter of time until his defeat now. It was not a life threatening wound, but it was one that would slowly chip away as his energy. Forcing himself to take to the skies again, Combee released a sugary sweet scent from his crippled body and tired, crumpled wings, accompanied with a visible pink steam to signal the release of the Sweet Scent. That done, he sent a strong gust of wind at the Shuppet, getting in close to make it more difficult for the elusive Ghost Type to dodge. ::combee:: Combee used Sweet Scent and Gust. [/B]

Quinn was on a high until Helix's attack struck the Combee again, creating a gash in the yellow Pokemon's chest, blood slowly trickling out of it. It was awful - she'd made him perform such a hurtful, violent attack... wincing, Quinn stood for a moment, slightly shell-shocked. This was the first time blood had ever been drawn from one of her battles, and it hit the blonde like a truck on steroids. Tears pricked at the corner of her eyes; why the hell was this so hard for her?!? Other trainers just got on with it. "You're an emotional piece of crap, Quinn." She laughed at herself, before dragging the back of her hand over her eyes to catch the moisture. Steadying herself, she turned her focus back onto the battle. Unfortunately, her dithering had given the duo some consequences; Helix didn't dodge, and so got caught up in the Sweet Scent and Gust, tumbling over and over in the air, before forcing himself to a stop. Shaking determination into all his muscles, the mini ghost awaited his commands. "Screech and Shadow Sneak." Quinn said simply, tapping her foot once more on the ground, sticking her fingers in her ears; she didn't hear anything as Helix opened his mouth, but could feel the vibrations in the air around her. Removing her fingers from her ears, she watched as Helix extended his shadow, streaking it across the battlefield, before whirling around behind the Combee. ::shuppet:: HELIX used SCREECH and SHADOW SNEAK!

The Screech lowered Combee's defense even more than its already pitifully weak level, and the Shadow Sneak hit his exposed, wounded side, drawing more blood from the gash. As he hit the dirt again, Combee briefly contemplated playing possum and hoping the Trainer would go away, but unfortunately, his pride would not allow that, and he struggled back into lopsided flight as he forced himself to fight on. Flapping his ruined wings rapidly despite the pain that came from moving the broken membrane, another small gale was generated, quickly surging at the Shuppet. He couldn't take much more. The last attack would blast him into unconsciousness. ::combee:: Combee is weakening. Combee used Gust. [/B]

The Combee looked like it was a puppet with one broken string; it hung in the air in a lopsided fashion. Quinn felt more slight stabs of guilt and remorse. But alas, this was a battle. Might as well put the little yellow thing out of it's misery soon, and knock it out, instead of leaving it to suffer for a long time. Hopefully. Despite the blonde's short little yelps to dodge, Helix failed to do so once more; panting slightly as he tumbled along with the Gust, he once again let it wash over him, before righting himself. His chest heaved more than usual; catching his breath raggedly, he knew what Quinn would say. Glancing at her, she nodded; and instead of hesitating with a Screech, the Shuppet dived straight in with a Shadow Sneak, cloaking himself in his own shadow whilst revolving around behind the Combee. ::shuppet:: HELIX used SHADOW SNEAK!

Combee Fainted Shuppet gains a level.
<Eeek!> The small Combee squealed in fright when the Shuppet crept up from behind him, bashing him in the back and knocking him to the ground. The weakened bug type tried to get back up, but a lack of energy prevented him from even moving. Try as he might, he was unable to do much of anything.
The most he could do was pitifully sigh, and hope he did not give up a savory aroma lest any predators catch him at this time. Now that would've been a depressing thought indeed. He only had a little bit of honey on him, but there was no way they would be able to pry it off of him.

Quinn truly felt awful as she laid her eyes on the weak, yellow mass before her. The Pokemon had fainted, thank Arceus, so now at least it was disconnected from any pain. The exhilaration and rush that should have followed this victory didn't come. Instead, Quinn just felt for the poor little Pokemon. It was just been going about it's business, and she'd ruthlessly attacked it... Trying not to look at the unconscious mass near her feet, Quinn bent onto her knees and tore open her rucksack, extracting Birthday and rummaging around for a Potion for Helix. She couldn't spare any for the poor little yellow thing, as her stock was running out, so she didn't look at it as she poured the contents of a Potion down Helix's throat. He shook slightly as his energy returned, before floating contently above her head. He was alright - he was meant to battle. He'd fulfilled his purpose, and possibly felt that he'd proved himself to his trainer. Sighing, the blonde slid the half-asleep Smoochum back into the rucksack, zipped it up to her sides, and then slid the rucksack onto one shoulder. She needed some sort of refreshment, something to clear her head. This first victory didn't give her the boost she'd imagined it would. "Helix, can you lead us to some sort of water source? A river, or a pool, or something?" She asked her companion, running her hand through her hair to move her fringe away. The Shuppet nodded once, before shooting upwards like a lift; hovering above the treetops for a moment, scanning the area, he shot back down and hovered slowly into the trees. Quinn followed; the branches and different plants snagged at her legs, leaving little white scratches. She felt remorse as she left the fainted Combee all by itself; hopefully, it'd wake up soon, get better and continue on it's way. After a few minutes of stumbling through the underbrush, the blonde and her Shuppet emerged into a little stream, winding through the trees and providing a soothing, continuous rippling sound as the water travelled past. Setting her rucksack gently down on the edge of the stream so she wouldn't disturb Birthday, Quinn kneeled at the edge and cupped some water in her hands, looking at her skewed reflection before splashing the cool water onto her face. It was refreshing, and she felt as if she'd woken up from a deep sleep as the frostiness lingered on her face. Helix was having fun, dunking himself into the water at regular intervals. The blonde rolled her eyes at her playful starter Pokemon, before lying on her back and gazing up into the sky, hands under her head.

It was a good thing that Quinn had moved on when she did. Or perhaps a pity. Unbeknownst to her, a group of Shinx passed by, saw the fainted Combee, and had a lovely meal.
---
Upon hearing the human’s approach through the undergrowth, three creatures had quickly scuttled away to hide beneath various stones and bushes around the stream. Each of them remained completely still, unmoving and silent, while the human and her Shuppet did their business around the water. They did not see the three stealthy Pokemon. They had no clue they were being watched. Peeking around its boulder, one individual saw Quinn lying down. From their positions, each of the Pokemon made eye contact and nodded.
The game was about to begin.
With swift movements, the three blue spider-like Pokemon slid out onto the stream near the bank where Quinn was lying and fired off delicate streams of bubbles into her face, giggling.
::surskit:: x 3 Bubbl'd Quinn's face. <3 (Not attack-strength bubbles. Just playful. But still annoying. xD)
