Quinn sat in the Verona Cafe, waiting for her steaming coffee to cool down slightly. She watched the whirls of steam revolve in the air before fading away; the table felt warm under her hand. It was toasty in the cafe, a lovely change from the awful, gusty wind outside. When someone opened the door, a chill swirled through the cafe, penetrating the warmth. Quinn had decided to take her thick orange coat off, draping it over the back of her chair; she'd let her blonde hair tumble down in waves to provide a bit of warmth around her neck. Today was a simple day; she was wearing a thin black vest top, with a grey jumper thrown over the top. It was one of her favourites, mainly because it had a cute, glittery Squirtle in the center of it. Oh, and it was thick and warm, hugging her body to trap the warmth in. Her black skinny jeans were warm too, topped off with her biscuit-coloured "trekking boots", which were big and chunky and lovely. Helix, her first and only Pokémon so far, was amusing himself by hovering near strangers to frighten them with a small mumble beside their ear. Every so often, there would be a squeal or a clatter, proving that the Shuppet was successfully causing mischief. After calling him back and scolding him multiple times without any effect, Quinn had given up and let him wreak havoc. Blowing on the top of her coffee to make it cool quicker, Quinn played with the cuff of her jumper.

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n It wasn't long after Quinn blew that very blow when a young trainer used both hands to push the doors - but realized, to her embarrassment, that they were pull and not push. It seemed she always had this problem with... well, doors in general. Hoping no one noticed her silly mistake, she used her right hand to open the door and walked in from the chilly outside. The warm atmosphere and mixed smells of hot beverages were a welcome greeting.
What wasn't was the creepy whispering in her ear she heard next. "Eeeek!" She squealed, jumping away from the sound and walking hurriedly over to the nearest table with vacant seats -- it turned out to be Quinn's. "Mind if I sit here?" Squeaked Sierra, who was scooting herself into a seat across from the girl regardless. Still frightened out of her wits, she quivered there for a bit, looking around frantically to make sure that the creeper wasn't following her, then whispering towards Quinn: "I think this place is haunted." Her frightful expression proved that she thought the whole thing was pretty serious.
Spying a small basket of sugar and creamers in the middle of the table, she reached out and grabbed a packet of the former, ripped it open, then dumped it all in her mouth. Crumpling the wrapper up, she took a napkin from the dispenser and placed the crumpled ball upon it. "Phew, I feel so much better." She said, lacking shame.

Among the low chatter and the clinking of spoons against cups, another squeal. Quinn paid no attention - silly Helix. He'd get tired of it soon enough. She was taking her first, tentative sip of the coffee when a girl crashed into her quiet moment. "Mind if I sit here?" Quinn had barely opened her mouth, but the girl took a seat anyway, grabbing sugar from the middle of the table and dumping it in her mouth in a very... impolite manner. Wow. Well, Quinn wasn't used to random strangers invadng her personal space and then just grabbing stuff to pour into their mouths. "O.... kay...." Was all the blonde could utter, slightly stunned. But she'd noticed, right before randomly stealing her sugar, the girl had looked terrified, uttering something about the place being haunted... Helix. "Oh!" A metaphorical light bulb flashed over Quinn. "This place isn't haunted. I'm really sorry, that's my Shuppet... Helix!" She called the last word out into the crowd of tables and chair, and in the space of a few seconds, her misty Shuppet had whizzed up beside her ear, opening his mouth to creep her out; but no, he wasn't going to make a fool of his trainer. The teen snapped her head around 180 degrees, clamping her hand over the Shuppet's mouth. "Don't try and do the same to me, Helix. Now apologise to this girl. You left her in a state! No more amusement for you - well, not of that sort, anyway." Quinn said firmly, like a parent scolding a naughty child, with a final toss of her hair to prove her authority. Stirring her coffee and taking a sip, she waited for the Shuppet to follow her orders; he hovered in the air, embarassed for a moment, before trying to casually slide over to the girl, grabbing a packet of sugar on his way as a peace offering, dropping it into her lap. "Good. Now, are you going to behave, or shall I put you back in your Pokeball?" At the mention of his Pokeball, Helix seemed to snap. He whizzed around in a circle around Quinn's head - a promise. "So." Quinn spoke clearly, sweetly. "Sorry about that. I'm Quinn, nice to meet you."

s i e r r a c a t a l y n n Sierra hardly noticed the girl's stunned face, still quite frightened over the presence of spirits in the cafe. Had she been chosen? Was she going to be cursed for the rest of her life?!
The girl's outburst interrupted her. This place isn't haunted. I'm really sorry, that's my Shuppet... Helix! Sierra was both baffled at this new knowledge and dumbstruck at her own gullibility. How could I be so be easily scared? She thought; it was then that said Shuppet raced into her view, next to the trainer's face. "Eeep!" She squeaked, surprised at seeing the ghostly thing in person. But she was scolding the pokemon just like any trainer would scold their own; she realized, by this, that Helix was just a regular, albeit silly, monster.
Sierra watched, gaze gradually softening as the ghost floated over to her and dropped a packet of sugar in her lap. At this, Sierra couldn't help but laugh in amusement. She picked up the packet and placed it on the table in front of her, reserving it for the coffee she was planning to order ever since she came in.
The girl in front of her introduced herself. Smiling in a pleasant, tryingnottorememberwhatjusthappened way, Sierra returned the introduction. "You have a pretty name. I'm Sierra, and it's nice to meet you -" Looking up at the ghostly pokemon, she continued: "and Helix." Her grin grew slightly as she uttered his name.
A waitress then came over to the table, and seeing that Quinn already had her own drink, took Sierra's order. "I'll have a coffee, please." The girl requested. She aimed a sweet smile at the waitress, who then hurried off to place her order in.
