Full Name: Jason Sanders
Gender: Male
Age: 20 March 29
Appearance: Jason Sanders stands at an unimpressive five feet eight inches. Long, crazy red hair frames and sometimes shrouds his face when it is not in a pony tail. He keeps it in a pony tail most of the time simply to avoid hair getting into his eyes. His eyes are a beautifully colored green. His eyes are beautiful and deep, capable of losing people in the depth of their color. His body is lean and fit, slight muscles actually showing from the amount of physical activity he does. His skin is fairly dark, being tanned from the constant berating of the sun.
Jason wears bright colors pretty much all the time. His usual attire consists of a brightly colored button up shirt that is always unbuttoned, a white tank top that shows the outlines of his muscular abdomen, khaki shorts that have a multitude of pockets, and sandals so that he isn't walking bare foot everywhere. Around his neck is a necklace made of seashells that he made to remind him of home whenever he leaves. Hidden somewhere in his hair is a pair of sunglasses that he usually wears to keep the sun out of his eyes, but has a horrible habit of enjoying the brightness and forgetting he has sunglasses.
His face often showed his completely relaxed and happy attitude. He was a very happy person and it showed. He was happiest when he was on his surfboard, riding the waves.
Background: Jason Sanders was born and raised in the small, friendly village of Brevis. His mother, Jessica Sanders, was one of the bakers at the world famous bakery. His father, Russel Sanders, had his own fishing boat and used it to catch fish. To say that his life was hard would be a terrible lie. Jason's life was simple. He had no brother or sister to fight with or share anything with and being one of the few up and coming future adults, everyone was even more friendly and helpful towards him. He grew to the age of 17 without any problems. He taught himself how to surf and he had learned how to fish on his father's boat. But fishing wasn't what he wanted to do with his life. Luckily for him, he didn't have to figure it out for a while.
July twenty second of his seventeenth year was the time where a very significant event took place. It was the day he received his license to capture and raise pokemon. Most kids in Brevis Village got their licenses at the age of twelve. Jason wanted to do things at his own pace. There was a reason he applied to get his license though.
Two weeks before he got his license, the sun was high in the sky which was his favorite time to surf. Grabbing his surf board, he ran to the beach. His shirt and sandals were thrown off his body as he ran to the water and waded out into the ocean. The waves were perfect and his adrenaline was pumping just as it always did when he went surfing. Then something caught his eye. A red and white feathered pokemon was swimming in the water like a penguin. The feathers on its back, belly, and wings were bright red. Such a beautiful color against the white feathery head. Jason couldn't believe his eyes. It was a Delibird this far from the cold mountains, swimming happily in the warm water. Not paying attention, Jason wiped out, crashing into the water. After crashing into the water the Delibird seemed to disappear.
Jason came back to this particular surfing spot every other day that week and was able to witness the spectacular red Delibird swim freely in the ocean without a care in the world. That was the moment that he decided he wanted his very own pokemon to raise. And it wasn't just going to be any pokemon... it was going to be that Delibird.
The next week he spent studying for his license and was able to pass. He had mailed his test in on Wednesday and got a letter back on Monday July twenty second saying that they recommended him to be a Coordinator. Along with the letter was a pokedex which had his license on it. His parents noticed that he was taking initiative in something for a change. They couldn't help but feel proud that their little boy was growing up. Jason was getting ready to pack up his belongings and head out to capture that Delibird when his mom and dad confronted him.
"Jason. What's going on son?" His dad was the silence breaker.
"You've been studying to get your pokemon license and haven't mentioned a word to me or your dad. Is everything alright sweety?" His mom was a worrier even when there was nothing to really worry about.
"Mom, dad... I found a pokemon that I want to raise. I'm ready to start my journey." Jason's words were full of confidence.
"Why didn't you tell us? You know your mom and I would understand. You're growing up." His dad was always relaxed when talking to Jason. That's where he got his relaxed attitude from.
"This is something I need to do on my own. You guys are always here for me and that means so much for me. But this pokemon I'm going after is very special. I want to be able to say I did this all by myself."
A smile spread across his dad's face while a tear fell from his mom's eye. "At least take one of dad's water-proof packs. I know how much you like surfing. It'd be good for you to be able to take your stuff with you everywhere."
Jason's dad wrapped his arms around his mom and just shook his head. "You know we're proud of you, right Jason? We've always been proud of you. We're not going to hold you back."
"Thanks mom. Thanks dad. I love you both." Jason threw his arms around his mom and dad, hugging them both tightly. "I am leaving in soon. I need to go buy some pokeballs and get out there before I miss my future pokemon."
"I don't think you'll tell us what it is until you catch it. I know you and surprises." His dad laughed. "Show us when you get back. We believe in you."
Personality: To say that Jason Sanders was a lover of life is an understatement. He lives by a simple rule. Have no regrets. He is very much a risk taker and enjoys stepping out of his comfort zone to find something greater. Jason is a dreamer and is often looking for that special thing that will complete his life. That is why he takes risk. He doesn't know what it is that will complete his life, so he just has fun with everything he does in order to get to that point. Being a dreamer, he has found that he really has to focus on making his dreams come true. He is filled with determination to reach his dreams. He has really had to force himself to be determined. A problem he faces is a lack of motivation. It's not because he doesn't want to do anything, but simply because he enjoys the way he lives his life. He has found out that he really enjoys caring for others and pokemon. Caring is his greatest passion.
Info: (Pre-starter Delibird)
With those last words and after packing some camping gear into his waterproof backpack, he went to the beach. He was going to camp outside until he captured the Delibird. He ran to the beach, the excitement unable to leave his body. He had his surf board and was already wading out into the ocean towards the waves. Jason hadn't taken into account the weather that day. It wasn't sunny at all. It was windy and overcast. It looked like it wanted to storm. Jason had never been surfing when the waves were this violent. But he managed to stand up and catch a rather large wave. Then he saw it. The red Delibird was happily swimming through the violent waters as if they were nothing. Jason was determined to follow the little red bird. Riding the wave was incredibly difficult. As he got closer to the Delibird, the bird just seemed to be swimming to some sort of cliff side. A storm was beginning to whip up, causing gust of wind. A random gust of wind caused the wave he was riding to swell and collapse. His surf board disappeared from under him and he fell. His legs were banged against some rocks, the bones snapping on impact. He screamed in pain, though his screams couldn't be heard over the howling wind. He used his arms to paddle his now useless body to some rocks that he could get a hand hold on. The pain going through his body was intense. With every movement of his body he screamed out in pain. He forced himself to pull himself up the cliff and out of the water. He climbed with all his might, gritting his teeth through the pain. He had to use his legs, even though they were practically useless to him. Jason slowly made it up to an opening on the cliff. He collapsed weakly once he climbed up onto the ledge. He saw the Delibird and passed out.
The swimming Delibird was the youngest of a family of Delibirds that lived on that cliff outlook. It was the only one that actually swam too. He took care of Jason while he was passed out, somehow taking off his clothes and drying them. He kept Jason warm so he wouldn't freeze and had gone to find sticks that the human could use to walk on when he woke up. Jason had been passed out for two days, only to wake up to see the Delibird bringing him food and trying to keep him warm. "Wh-where am I?"
The Delibird suddenly froze, not having expected the human to wake up. He slowly backed away. "Deliii..."
Jason held up his hands to show that he wasn't gonna hurt the little pokemon. He wasn't in any condition to do anything really. "It looks like you've been taking care of me.... I want to thank you. If it wasn't for you I think I might have died."
The Delibird waddled up to Jason with some food in its tail pouch. He reached down and handed a banana to the human and smiled. "De deli bird."
Jason gladly took the banana and began to peel it. He ate it slowly, not wanting to move to fast. He felt extremely exhausted. He knew his legs were broken considering the pain was still being felt. As long as he didn't move it was bearable. Looking around, he noticed a Delibird family. He suddenly felt bad. Young and dumb, he didn't realize that the swimming Delibird would have a family. "Ever since I first saw you, I wanted to meet you. I wanted to catch you in a pokeball and call you my pokemon. You ride those waves like a surfer, like me, and I thought that was so cool. I didn't think about whether you had a family or not. I feel horrible. You've been so kind to me. You took care of me when I intruded on your home. You are an amazing pokemon, Delibird."
The red penguin pokemon was smiling. He had watched the human surfing from afar and had wanted to try it himself. What really amazed him was that the human risked his life just to meet him. The Delibird placed his wing under his beak as if he were in deep thought, which incidentally caused the human to laugh. Hearing the laughter caused him to laugh as well. He nodded his head in affirmation. "Bird. Deliiii bird."
The Delibird family waddled over to Jason and the helpful Delibird. They had heard everything and happened to be impressed with this human. They formed a group huddle and began using a special ability they had. Together they created a magical box with a ribbon wrapped around it. It was the Delibirds' Present technique. It was a huge present, considering the entire Delibird family performed the technique. The little red Delibird, for the friendly Delibird was the smallest in the group, picked up the present that was twice his size and carried it over to Jason. He set it on the ground in front of Jason. "Deliii!"
"For me?" Jason was curious as he looked at the giant present. When the little Delibird nodded his head, jason happily opened the present. How he was going to take an item home was a mystery to him, he still had to figure out how to get off the cliff. But suddenly, a green light came out of the gift box and enveloped his entire body. The present was actually giving off healing properties. He could feel his legs snapping back together, though not fully healed. He was going to have to take it easy when he got home. "You guys are incredible." A rare tear slowly slid down his cheek as he pulled the little Delibird into a great big hug.
"Deli deli!" The Delibird hugged him back. He stepped back as the human was actually standing up to his feet. He wondered what the human was going to do. He waited patiently to find out.
Jason walked over to the rock wall. "Thank you for healing me a little bit. This will help me get home." Placing his hands on rock hand holds, he slowly pulled himself up. He was able to use his legs as well, though there was some slight discomfort.
The Delibird squawked in shock seeing the human leave. He ran over to the human and tried to jump up after him. "Lilili!" He flapped his little wings and was able to flutter around Jason's head.
"Are you trying to tell me you want to go with me?" Jason couldn't believe what he was seeing. He made friends with the blue Delibird that he desperately wanted to meet. He achieved the goal he set out to do at a really great cost. He pushed himself to climb to the top of the cliff. The Delibird easily flew to the top of the cliff and waited for the human. Jason noticed that he was a speedy little critter. Jason stood at the top of the cliff. He looked at the ocean that was rather stormy and turned away from it. He needed to get some medical attention fast. Jason looked down at the Delibird. "Is it alright if I catch you? It's only so I can call you into your pokeball when you're really injured. We're a team now. You'll take care of me and I'll take care of you."
Delibird nodded his head, not really thinking about it. This human was his new friend. Without another word Jason touched the pokeball to the red penguin. The Delibird was caught and immediately released. "I'm going to call you Lucky. I was lucky you were there to keep me alive and I'm even luckier that you're my new friend."
A blush appeared on the Delibird's face. He flapped his wings and was flying around Jason's head again. He was so happy and full of energy. Together they made their way to Jason's house. "Mom! Dad! I'm home! I have someone I want you to meet!"
Jason's parents walked into the living room to see Jason walk through the front door. They watched curiously as a little blue Delibird waddled out from behind Jason's legs. "Deliii"
"Jason, that's a beautiful pokemon! That red color is absolutely amazing and he's just so adorable!" Jason's mom was down on her knees greeting the little Delibird.
"I am impressed son. Delibird aren't too rare, but in this area they are unseen. I've never even heard of a Delibird living in these parts. How'd you go about capturing this little guy?" Jason's dad was beaming with pride.
Jason suddenly groaned with pain. The gift of healing was wearing off. "Can I tell you later? I really need to go to the hospital."
His mom suddenly looked up at Jason. "What do you-?" She was rudely interrupted by the snapping of his leg bones. In an instant Jason was on the floor passed out from sheer pain.
Two years passed. Lucky the Delibird was Jason's greatest support while he went through physical therapy to get his legs back into shape. He desperately wanted to go surfing with his pokemon, but his legs had been in such bad shape that he couldn't do anything but try to get better. Lucky took care of him, their friendship strengthening. Jason was finally better. And he was inspired by the caring nature of Lucky that he wanted to do the same thing to other pokemon. Lucky inspired him to become a Pokemon Coordinator. If he could pay back what Lucky gave to him, he would. He would help make Lucky the most famous Delibird in existence.
