NAME: Ichimonji, Shinji Gender: Male. Age: Sixteen. ( October 17th )
Appearance:
Shin stands at an average height and weight for a youth his age, despite being somewhat thin compared to others. In spite of his small frame and seemingly thin physique, he packs a lot of strength for a boy of his age. He has a physique like that of a boxer; strong but without a huge muscle mass. Although it might not show at first, his torso and arms are quite athletically toned. He owes his physical make up to his days spent frivolously venturing into the Viridian Forest. His hair is of a strange ivory color and various strands of it can be found looming above his eyes though barely falling past the youth's brow.
Despite this, the total extent of his hair's growth is seen with the bangs at either side of his head as both hang past his chin. The back of his hair doesn't grow much longer than the front, growing down the back of his neck while refusing to exceed a length past his shoulders thanks to careful maintenance. His untamed hair is rarely contained in a hat or actually any other form of headgear, preferring to keep itself free. His milky tan frame is normally adorned in his standard "uniform" of a jacket over a t-shirt with whatever pair of pants fits his tastes.
He wears a comfortable pair of sneakers made for running, and he's generally seen with a pair of headphones hanging from his neck. Oddly enough, sometimes the headphones aren't even connected to anything yet he'll insist on wearing them.
Background: Born in Viridian City, Shin began his life surrounded by Pokémon. His mother was an experienced breeder and his father was a well-known trainer and together they had a bit of a miniature Pokémon sanctuary going on in their home. Rather well off in terms of money, the house that he grew up in happened to be a mansion. However, rather than being filled with servants, the only other residents of the mansion aside from Shin's immediate family were Pokémon that they either took in, had caught, or had somehow managed to find themselves inside the home. It is because of this that Shin developed his natural love of Pokémon. It was no surprise that his parents actually encouraged him to start off on his journey at an early age, however he wasn't quite comfortable with leaving home. Especially knowing that he wouldn't get to see his Pokémon friends as frequently as before. But, after his sixteenth birthday, he finally figured he didn't have much of a choice. So he decided to embark on a journey with his favorite pokemon, Sonic.
Sonic was a zubat that Shin had actually found as an egg. While many Pokémon circulated through his home, this was the first one he had actually encountered as an egg. He found it in the Viridian Forest while he was playing in the trees with some Pokémon. After falling out of the tree, the egg safely plopped into his lap. Kind of ironic, as he saved an egg he also accidentally endangered, if one thought of it as such. Regardless, he would take it hope and spend every day and night observing it until he fell asleep, conversing with it about how excited he was to see it hatch. Finally, on his birthday no less, the egg would hatch. As an added present to the other gifts he got, his parents let him name and keep the zubat as his own.
Christened Sonic, the zubat wouldn't leave Shin's side from its birth. The boy would always play with and nurture it as a fledgling and, with the aid of resident flying types in the mansion, helped the zubat take its first flight. After experiencing the feeling of teaching a Pokémon something new, he finally resolved to become a trainer. Not without a bit of training of course, wanting to condition himself and his zubat before setting off. He would take to a daily rigorous training exercise that actually wasn't far off from his playing routine as a kid. A bit of an extremist, Shin actually embarked on a one month journey of isolation training with Sonic, something his parents for some reason eagerly let him do.
Ending the severe training with his zubat two weeks early, he finally returned home. Well, in reality, he and Sonic maybe did serious work about an hour a day. The rest they spent playing just as they did when they were younger. Though it wasn't wasted time, Shin had managed to teach it a move in the two weeks. Not only that, he discovered an ability to actually understand what Pokémon were thinking, which seemed mutual. Though it was vaguer with Pokémon other than Sonic. In the two weeks he realized that he wanted to do more than stick to Viridian Forest with Sonic. He wanted to go out, see the world, and catch many more Pokémon. So he would depart with the bat on his sixteenth birthday, with hopes of becoming a better trainer than his dad. Personality: Shin is a carefree child at heart, his face reflecting his frivolous nature most of the time. He is the type of person who does what he says he’ll do and says what he truly thinks, even if he feels he might be hated for it. He’s the kind of guy who doesn’t let the opinion of others sway him from his beliefs, and will stay true to those beliefs even if his life is at stake. He was always the kind of person who would see a cup as half full and not half empty. He believes that there is always a positive side to any situation and that no matter how grim things look, the situation could always be turned for the better. Whenever he finds himself a goal to achieve or an obstacle to overcome, he never gets down thinking of what might be in his way. The only thing on his mind is overcoming the obstacle or achieving the goal and reaping the rewards that come with it. However, when he doesn’t find enough motivation in doing something, he is quite the shirker. If one provides him with a task that doesn’t catch his eye, they will find it extremely difficult to get him to do the said task.
