Arthur wasn't exactly what you would expect of a young teenager wanting to visit the world, but he knew there was much more to it than just randomly exploring the world. Oh no, he had a goal, and he planned on taking his training to the next level with his Pokemon. Yes, when he received his first one, he would instantly want to test it out just like many other cliche trainers did. Although, that was usually the best way to do it, but Arthur had one problem. There were not many people for him to befriend since he preferred traveling alone most of the time. Tugging on his back pack and making sure it was empty so he could receive any items as he made his way towards the Pokemon lab in hopes of a good pokemon. Arthur was certain this was the grand start to his many adventures he hoped to be part of. Looking at the sky and noting it was rather nice out too, but still chilly as he tugged on his coat. Not wanting to get a cold during the winter as he put on a stocking cap so his ears wouldn't freeze off either.
Approaching what looked like a building he soon took in the wonderful scenery around him and started to slowly walk up towards the doors. Opening them slowly and peeking inside, although he stopped as he decided not to be rude right on the spot. Yet, he didn't seem to sense any hostility as he cautiously moved further forwards, and the human seventeen year old moved up to a desk. Whoever was behind it surely looked busy but he wasn't going to wait forever. Soon, Arthur cleared his throat, and started to speak, "Excuse me, I'm here to see the Professor," he said calmly hoping he wasn't disturbing whoever sat behind the desk...yet he had moved rather fast to get here. Almost wanting to sound a little too eager to get this endeavor over with so he could meet his first pokemon. Choosing one would be easy since he had a vague idea of what he was looking for.

Shuffle.
Shuffle shuffle.
Despite the festive holiday that graced this day, the lab seemed strangely desolate. The gentle wind gave the tinsel adorning the walls of the room a pathetic, halfhearted nudge. And what the newcomer seemed to sense was a person remained eerily still and silent, unresponsive and ignorant to his advances.
And then a door opened; a soft click that was barely audible, but signalled the arrival of a second party. With deliberate slowness and caution the door peeked open, pausing for a brief moment before it jolted forward on it's hinges. A stack of boxes waddled into the room – a person behind it – and moved towards a secluded corner of the room.
And one of the boxes swiftly slid from it's perch and crashed unceremoniously onto the floor. A quiet mumbled curse emanated from behind the rest and the boxes squatted, a lithe man wiping the sweat from his brow with a sigh. His eyelids were closed behind thin glasses which glinted in the dim artificial light.
“Meowth, could you please collect that for me?”
Unseen from nearby, a little feline plodded along on four paws, tail swishing about lazily behind his back. Using his Pick Up ability, he deftly collected the scattered items, a quarter of the way through before he noticed the trainer standing nearby. He mewled up to the blue-haired individual, who curiously turned around, glancing over his shoulder before he blinked and straightened up.
“I'm Professor Winter. May I help you?”

Arthur was rather intrigued by the meowth that had suddenly just taken advantage of getting whatever it was it needed. Deciding this was a rather vague encounter, but for all Arthur knew he was walking into a trap so he knew now he had to tread lightly. Not wanting to step on someone else's starter Pokémon of course considering the array of all the certain Pokémon they had within the room. Focusing his attention on the professor after the initial reaction to his presence had subsided, but Arthur wasn't as young as he used to be. Perhaps starting out on this journey earlier might have been highly advisable than just now.
Giving a formal bow with his figure, and letting his heritage show through his rather literal stature to be taken seriously. Finally, he let his eyes focus on the boxes, but he kept quiet about the subject on how they fell. The Meowth certainly had done a good job at catching Arthur's attention, and he was smiling slightly at the fact the Pokémon was rather willing to help out. Then again, Arthur was always like that with almost any Pokemon, and right now he was too eager to get his own. Already having made up his mind, but he would wait until the professor would guide him through the list as he wanted to double check the rest.
Just a precaution in case he decided to change his mind on any of these critters, and finally he stood up after bowing towards the Professor. "Sorry to bother you professor, but I am here because I believe you have Pokémon for trainers who are just starting on their adventures?" he asked rather calmly, smiling politely...well wasn't he just the nicest lad all of a sudden. Yet, his smile was still scary as it lit up his face slightly with that edge of mystery as if no one could tell what Arthur was ever thinking.

The Professor is IN!
Blinking before registering Arthur's statement and where it was going, the Professor quickly pressed the center of his glasses frame and adjusted them with a subtle nod in the male's direction. "That is the case." He agreed, sounding formal as he gave Arthur a smile to hopefully ease his worries. Normally a trip to the lab was seen as nerve-wracking or exciting, and normally everyone that stepped inside was very unsure about what was going to happen. He started to fiddle with a few containers on the counter, containing informational pamphlets about the Starter Process; the Pokemon you could get, their stats, the Starter Pack and what each item did, as well as a brief explanation of the Gyms and Contests in Ile Electrique. "This should be what you need, for starters." He handed it to Arthur for him to glance through, hoping he would look at it right away.
"The starter Pokemon are in there. For example, this Meowth here is one of them." He motioned to the Meowth that held several items in his paws, looking up at the two humans with a curious but patient stare. He liked to help others out, and was a very tame Pokemon compared to some of the others in his lab. "Do you have experience with Pokemon?" He asked casually, staring at Arthur as he took notice of the trainer's actions. What he was doing. How he replied.
He wanted to know these things, to gauge how ready the trainer was for starting out in the region. If he wasn't very experienced, then he'd do his best to give him a more docile Pokemon that would be likely to listen to him. It was to be fair, as a Professor.

Arthur was certain that this meowth was perhaps wandering around for him to take notice, but he was just nodding his head to what the Professor was telling him. Taking care of Pokemon was easy, but he could tell him the tale about the time he was eight, however, merely nodded his head in simple response. Not liking the fact this may be taking longer than normal, but he kept on his smile letting his cool demeanor give him an edge most trainers didn't have. The attitude that was meant to get him on his road to becoming a Pokemon Master, but right now he was just deciding which starter he would need to get him there. Curiously looking at the Meowth in thought, but seemed rather appalled at the list for a moment. A lot of these starters didn't seem like a perfect choice for him.
That mewtwo in the list had to be a prank, so he ignored it, and kept on looking at the other Pokemon until he made a decision. Picking up the starter list and looking it over he held up his finger indicating he had met one pokemon before. "I used to take care of a pidgey when I was younger, but one day it disappeared..which was odd. Probably flew off for the winter, but I was young at the time so I didn't understand what it was doing. I would also feed it and take care of it, keeping other predators away from it. So, on that note, I like the meowth to be honest," he said as a matter of fact. Looking down at the innocent pokemon carrying all of those items, and it seemed a little cumbersome on the little guy. Having a Meowth would indeed be easy to have around, and he had looked over the moves. Most of them were slightly extreme, but he didn't mind. Just meant the more practice they had with these moves the more he could get used to their fighting style against other Pokemon.
Now, Arthur was stretching, and then yawning too as he covered his mouth to do so. Finally folding the starter list back up, but he didn't really take long to look it over after he had glimpsed all the other abilities most of the others had. Browsing over what the starter back did, he nodded, and examined each of the items on the list. Necessities more or less for what was needed to keep his Pokemon healthy in case he was in a tight fix. Luckily, he had no need to continue giving his attention to the pamphlet after completing it in just a few minutes. Obviously, he wasn't one to tally or dawdle for too long to get what he wanted, but he wasn't obnoxious about it either. Nodding to the professor, wondering if there was anything else he should know.

professor winter ! so, he was interested in the meowth. interesting. the professor nodded slowly, walking to the back of his desk. after a few seconds of searching, he had to bend down. what was he looking for? the red and white sphere that was the object of meowths captivity. meowth let out a soft mew, glancing at the professor. once winter stood back up, he had the ball in his hand. he shook it slightly, a small smile on his face. " you want the meowth? here's it's pokeball. " he had a small smile on his face. then opened a drawer, taking out the bag that he'd need.
it contained three berries. pecha, cheri, and oran. potions, as well. then five extra pokeballs to catch wild pokemon with. the professor stepped towards him, holding the bag before him. in his other hand was meowth's pokeball. " if you want the meowth, take it. though, i have other pokemon on display.. " honestly, the professor didn't care what the trainers picked. so long as they were happy. and got on with their lives./justify]

Arthur was glad this was rather painless as he watched the professor finally getting the pokeball he wanted, and then snatched it up without a word. Examining the round ball, and then looking at Meowth he soon smirked a little. Watching to gauge the pokemon's reaction to it's new owner, but he supposed he would need to at least get used to treating the Pokemon as a friend. Arthur was already good at that so he didn't need to worry about treating his Pokemon wrong at all. Giving it a name was perhaps the next step after it was given to him. Soon he put the pokeball on the special belt he wore around his waist so he could have easy access to them.
Taking up the starter pack and putting the assorted items in his bag so he had them for later use, but he waved to the Professor after that. Looking around again, he started to finally just nod to the professor one last time, "Thanks, Professor, I'll be heading out now, unless there's anything else you may need to tell me before I get going?" he said calmly gesturing towards the Meowth to come towards him, but he would have to give him a nickname some time soon. Pushing some of his hair back out of the way he left Meowth out of the pokeball since he wanted to bond with it more than most of his others. Arthur really didn't like having Pokemon inside their pokeballs, but he would deal with this.
Letting the Meowth later would be fine and aimed the Pokeball at the Meowth. "I just need to know, I can nickname my pokemon now too right?" he asked curiously, realizing he should have asked that earlier...perhaps it was in the manual he had been given about starter pokemon.

professor winter ! the professor tilted his head, pushing his glasses back onto his face. he smiled. " nope, nothing more to tell you other than 'have fun', and 'be safe.' " he laughed there, heartily. wiping away a tear, the professor watched the young trainer. he seemed intent to bond with his new pokemon. the meowth reach up, handing winter the objects he had had in his hands. the meowth than ran to arthur, cuddling up to him. < you're my new trainer? goody! > he mewed. with a smile on his face.
the professor looked up at the new question. " of course! name it whatever you want. take care, now! " he said, as he turned to go back and work on his papers.

Arthur was starting to eagerly take up the Meowth but he smiled at it as it seemed to warm up to him right away. Looking further into this Pokemon as he used his pokedex to determine it's gender, but that wouldn't help. Using this device, but he decided the Meowth would be female so he would name her "Precious," just cause that seemed perfect for the Pokemon. "Well then, thanks Professor, I'll be seeing you later, hope you have fun taking care of the rest of the Pokemon here," he said calmly. Looking over his shoulder at Meowth again, but wondered if he should choose a better name. Yes, a better name as he erased Precious from his mind and would call her Midnight even though she wasn't anything near that color. Nodding to himself and could justify the name since he knew most cat-like Pokemon loved to wander at night.
SO this would work out just fine as he merely nodded to the professor again and picked up the things he had gotten. Making his way out of the lab and soon started on his journey to accomplish his goal to become a Pokemon master...and Arthur knew this road would be long. "Again, goodbye Professor," he commented as he left the lab making sure to keep his Pokemon close to him so he didn't lose Midnight on his way out giving a slight wave of his hand as the COOL trainer left the building just like Elvis would if he were a pokemon trainer...okay I lie, but it's still amusing to think that.
