{desc=By Ichi :3}Alright so! I figured this has been tried many times over. But here's how I'd like to put a spin on it. Two different types of tournaments (How many times is up for debate) Where it's a Single Battle with 3 Pokemon up into the Quarter Finals in which is turns into 6 on 6. Flat Battle rules so each Pokemon is at the same level. And randomized entry. Also to make it more like a Tournament..the host of the tournament (Probably an admin or such who doesn't want to enter) would take tally of which Pokemon each person is using to make it more of a surprise. Randomized battlefields (From the standard 4. Rock, Grass, Water, and Ice).
For the first part of the Single Battles (The ones with 3 Pokemon) you'd enter either with 3 of the 6 total pokemon you'd be using for the Full Battle rounds..or 3 separate ones.
WHAT DO YOU THINK? SPEAK TO BIANCA'S ASS---vvv

The major problem with tournaments is what occurs when people go inactive. How does this fix that problem? It happens with most RPers in Cheyenne. People get busy and disappear for weeks/months. What do you do to account for that?

I thought of that Toma. Everyone who signs up has to know that if they go inactive and will be removed. There are no exceptions. Let's say..you go inactive for 2 or 3 days you forfeit the round. If you know you're going to be busy then don't enter..and don't complain if you get removed. Whether it's a loss of muse or something different. That will be written into the rules..

Actually on second thought if you want to run this tournament yourself then you are allowed to if we have the free spot for it.
Just come up with a list of guidelines, rules, prizes, and etc and we can judge it and give you feedback. Remember, be fair but don't be too generous either.

Glad I changed your mind! Here's what I have for an idea.
We'll call it ICHI'S QUARTERLY ANNUAL BATTLE ROYAL!
Because it will happen 4 times year. As to not have a certain date that the tournament has to be between. It'll always start on the same day..but the tournaments can overlap with others. The only stipulation with that is that if say you were in the Spring Tournament with one character..and you wanted to enter the summer one..you'd have to use a different character..or just wait until you were done with the first one.
These tournaments will be called the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter Tournaments to correspond with it being 4 times year. These tournaments will be different each year somehow but the Summer one has the most radical change. Let's start out with each season.
Spring- Spring will be featuring a Single Battle Tournament where the rounds leading up to the preliminary round are 3v3 with anything goes. Substitutions..etc. This all leads up to the Quarter Finals which turns into 6v6. For those 7 Battles and then a person is deemed a winner and gets a prize and some cash.
HOWEVER at the end of this tournament..the winner gets a chance to challenge the champion (NPC) of the spring tournament who has a team *Randomly generated* that are Spring Types. Such as Grass, Poison, Water, Bug, and Flying Types. He or she would have 6 Pokemon which you could either..challenge or decided to take the prize. However if you win against him or her you'd get a mystery prize that ranges from a Pokemon, Item, Stone, or Ball. If you lose however..you lose half the prize money for the Tournament that you'd won before. This Tournament uses Flat Battle Rules in that all Pokemon are the same level and for each battle won each Pokemon who was used gains .5 Level.
High Risk Summer Tournament: This is the more unruly tournament of the 4. It's premise switches every year to a different type which is completely random until all the participants enter. It can range from..you get rented random Pokemon, Switching 1 Pokemon from someone in a different bracket, to even everyone starts out each match with -3 in each stat category. This tournament is the only one that levels aren't gained from wins but as a result their is a much more expensive item and more money for a win.
Once again like the Spring Tournament you'll be facing against a NPC champion called the Summer Queen. She only uses two Pokemon regardless of how many you use and stick to Fire Types. However there is something special about her Pokemon..which is that they are deemed as Legendary by most people.
If you defeat her your money is doubled and Item upgraded but if not..then you lose everything.
Fall Tournament: The Fall Tournament is similar to the Spring except it has a Double Battle Style. The trainers go in with 4 Pokemon in the early rounds up until the Semi Finals which are switched to 6v6 Double Battles. The trainers must register 6 Pokemon to begin with and can use any 4 in the rounds up until Semi Finals. Where it would be 6v6 Double Battle format.
The Prize for this Tournament would be a barrel of TM's that may have an HM in the bottom. Along with some money. Just like the other Tournaments their is a champion at the top. This Champion is similar to the Spring Tournament except his randomized Pokemon consist of Ghost. Dark. Dragon, Ground, and Rock.
If you defeat him you get a HM of your choice which works for three uses. If you don't however you lose half the TM's in you barrel. This Tournament uses Flat Battle Rules in that all Pokemon are the same level and for each battle won each Pokemon who was used gains 1 Level.
Winter Tournament: The Winter Tournament is special in that it is usually very short and tends to have the biggest amount of participants. As a result their are some NPC's that come in there too. The rules of this Tournament is that everyone enters with one Pokemon only that is used for the whole tournament. The battles are all one on one and use a Hailing battlefield. The Prize for this Tournament is a mystery each year but involves no money. For each battle won the Pokemon used gains 1 Level. The champion of this tournament is know as the Ice Princess and tends to use a Beartic as her main Pokemon but sometimes uses two different ones which are unknown to the general populace.
SO YEAH! Questions, Comments, (Not criticisms though)

Cool. Personally I'd aim for just one tourney first and see how it goes... but the four season thing sounds fun~

Glad I changed your mind! SO YEAH! Questions, Comments, (Not criticisms though) UH OK. First, suggestions need to be criticized somehow. No idea is perfect off the spot. Second off... This idea is amazing, yes. BUT, there are flaws in it. 1. Cheyenne has enough things already. Little things, like the caption contest and lottery. It's little, easy to manage, and gives good prizes. 2. Toma did have a point "The major problem with tournaments is what occurs when people go inactive." You can't demand people to tell you if they're going to go inactive or not. Things happen suddenly, no one can foresee something like that. Tournaments are EXTREMELY hard to keep up. Not to mention all the route threads the mods have to get to. NPCs are a hassle to have. The mods are busy with journey threads while admins are busy setting up events for us to enjoy. 3. The idea is perfect for a game. Why? Because the seasons go by quickly and pro game programers could get it done. We're a roleplay site with different mechanics than games. We have tons of prizes floating around here as it. It's a good idea, but it wouldn't work for a roleplay site.

The no criticisms thing was a joke...sorry you didn't get that. <_< But anyways...
I'm not DEMANDING everyone stay active. It's impossible to do that. I believe i've already explained that if you FEEL as though you wont be active a certain time..or you can't keep up. Don't enter. PLUS this is MEMBER run. By me. So the only thing that admins and mods would have to do is rule unfair judgments in battles. Such as godmodding..powerplaying. I've been rping for more than 4 minutes surprise surprise and with that comes the knowledge of how to run tournaments, make brackets, etc etc.
The only thing anyone would have to do who's staff would be see if the prizes for the events are okay. It's not like these tournaments have a certain time limit either..they'd start on a certain date and run until there was a winner. (The only point of them being stopped would be if it ran over a year which I don't think would happen) The only way i'd remove people is if they either had lost muse, stopped coming on, not posted for a week in the tournament, or took a leave of absence without telling me or anyone.
And that's great that YOU think that we have enough stuff already. If we did and that was completely the case I would think that TOMA or SPIRIT would've already said we don't have enough room when they commented.
The lottery and caption contest are great but...they only provide the aspects of luck and creativity on here. I enjoy them a lot but to me..battling to win a prize that you've earned yourself is much more fulfilling.
Like Gene said also..this is a BETA tournament. It's not like we're going to slap 4 tournaments on right away. This would just be a trial for one of them..see how it goes..and then put the others up if it has good feedback.
But seriously Dracken. Let's address this next question to you personally. If you wanted to enter a tournament and knew you were going inactive..would you just lie and say "I'll be active!" No. No one's going to be forced to stay active and i'm not going to expect everyone to post multiple times in a day since we all have lives. All i'm saying is don't be ignorant about promising one thing..and then doing the other. That's just being rude.
What damage will it do if we just try it and see how it goes? No one's going to die..the world isn't going to explode.. >_>
Words of final wisdom: Don't knock it..til you try it.

Hey hey hey, easy easy easy. Dracken brought up some very good points, and the criticisms thing was a bit of a turn off. There is no reason to be taking this suggestion personally, and I can't see this going anywhere at the moment. Please don't make passive aggressive comments about this in the cbox and let's just stop this here.

If you really want a tournament like this to happen, try to organize it yourself? A bit like what Kassy is doing <3 Just wait for that one to end first.
Also, as this would be member-hosted, you'd have to ask for donation prizes (or entry fees, but that's not a problem) and tone down on the NPCs.
Tournaments are notoriously hard to manage it successfully. Make sure you think things through before going at it.
